Tena samayena buddho bhagavā rājagahe viharati veḷuvane kalandakanivāpe. Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū nahāyamānā rukkhe kāyaṃ ugghaṃsenti, ūrumpi bāhumpi urampi piṭṭhimpi. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma samaṇā sakyaputtiyā nahāyamānā rukkhe kāyaṃ ugghaṃsessanti, ūrumpi bāhumpi urampi piṭṭhimpi, seyyathāpi mallamuṭṭhikā gāmamoddavā’’ti ! Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū tesaṃ manussānaṃ ujjhāyantānaṃ khiyyantānaṃ vipācentānaṃ. Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe bhikkhusaṅghaṃ sannipātāpetvā bhikkhū paṭipucchi – ‘‘saccaṃ kira, bhikkhave, chabbaggiyā bhikkhū nahāyamānā rukkhe kāyaṃ ugghaṃsenti, ūrumpi bāhumpi urampi piṭṭhimpī’’ti? ‘‘Saccaṃ bhagavā’’ti. Vigarahi buddho bhagavā – ‘‘ananucchavikaṃ, bhikkhave , tesaṃ moghapurisānaṃ ananulomikaṃ appatirūpaṃ assāmaṇakaṃ akappiyaṃ akaraṇīyaṃ. Kathañhi nāma te, bhikkhave, moghapurisā nahāyamānā rukkhe kāyaṃ ugghaṃsessanti, ūrumpi bāhumpi urampi piṭṭhimpi? Netaṃ, bhikkhave, appasannānaṃ vā pasādāya…pe… vigarahitvā…pe… dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘na, bhikkhave, nahāyamānena bhikkhunā rukkhe kāyo ugghaṃsetabbo. Yo ugghaṃseyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,佛世尊住在王舍城竹林咖兰达咖尼瓦巴。尔时,六群比库沐浴时,在树上摩擦身体,也摩擦大腿、手臂、胸部、背部。众人非难、呵责、传播:「沙门释迦子怎么沐浴时在树上摩擦身体,也摩擦大腿、手臂、胸部、背部,如同摔跤手、拳师、村中醉汉!」诸比库听闻那些非难、呵责、传播的众人。于是,那些比库将此事禀告世尊。于是,世尊以此因缘、以此事件,召集比库僧团后,询问诸比库:「诸比库,听说六群比库沐浴时在树上摩擦身体,也摩擦大腿、手臂、胸部、背部,是真实的吗?」「是真实的,世尊。」佛世尊呵责:「诸比库,那些愚痴人的行为不适合、不随顺、不适当、非沙门所为、不应行、不应作。诸比库,那些愚痴人怎么沐浴时在树上摩擦身体,也摩擦大腿、手臂、胸部、背部?诸比库,这不能使未信者生信……呵责后……作如法说后,告诉诸比库:「诸比库,沐浴的比库不应在树上摩擦身体。若摩擦者,犯恶作。」

Yo ugghaṃseyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库沐浴时,在柱子上摩擦身体,也摩擦大腿、手臂、胸部、背部。众人非难、呵责、传播:「沙门释迦子怎么沐浴时在柱子上摩擦身体,也摩擦大腿、手臂、胸部、背部,如同摔跤手、拳师、村中醉汉!」诸比库听闻那些非难、呵责、传播的众人。于是,那些比库将此事禀告世尊……「是真实的,世尊。」……呵责后……作如法说后,告诉诸比库:「诸比库,沐浴的比库不应在柱子上摩擦身体。若摩擦者,犯恶作。」

尔时,六群比库沐浴时,在墙上摩擦身体,也摩擦大腿、手臂、胸部、背部。众人非难、呵责、传播:「沙门释迦子怎么沐浴时在墙上摩擦身体,也摩擦大腿、手臂、胸部、背部,如同摔跤手、拳师、村中醉汉!」……「诸比库,沐浴的比库不应在墙上摩擦身体。若摩擦者,犯恶作。」

尔时,六群比库在高台上沐浴。众人非难、呵责、传播……如同在家欲乐享受者!诸比库听闻那些非难、呵责、传播的众人。于是,那些比库将此事禀告世尊……「是真实的,世尊。」……呵责后……作如法说后,告诉诸比库:「诸比库,不应在高台上沐浴。若沐浴者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū gandhabbahatthakena nahāyanti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti…pe… seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti! Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū tesaṃ manussānaṃ ujjhāyantānaṃ khiyyantānaṃ vipācentānaṃ. Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ…pe… ‘‘na, bhikkhave, gandhabbahatthakena nahāyitabbaṃ. Yo nahāyeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库用乾达婆手沐浴。众人非难、呵责、传播……如同在家欲乐享受者!诸比库听闻那些非难、呵责、传播的众人。于是,那些比库将此事禀告世尊……「诸比库,不应用乾达婆手沐浴。若沐浴者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū kuruvindakasuttiyā nahāyanti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti…pe… seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti! Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, kuruvindakasuttiyā nahāyitabbaṃ. Yo nahāyeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库用库汝文达咖绳沐浴。众人非难、呵责、传播……如同在家欲乐享受者!将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应用库汝文达咖绳沐浴。若沐浴者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū viggayha parikammaṃ kārāpenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti…pe… seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti! Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, viggayha parikammaṃ kārāpetabbaṃ. Yo kārāpeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库互相摩擦使人作按摩。众人非难、呵责、传播……如同在家欲乐享受者!将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应互相摩擦使人作按摩。若使人作者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū mallakena nahāyanti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti…pe… seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti! Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, mallakena nahāyitabbaṃ. Yo nahāyeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库用摔跤手沐浴。众人非难、呵责、传播……如同在家欲乐享受者!将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应用摔跤手沐浴。若沐浴者,犯恶作。」

Tena kho pana samayena aññatarassa bhikkhuno kacchurogābādho hoti. Na tassa vinā mallakena phāsu hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, gilānassa akatamallaka’’nti.
尔时,某位比库患疥疮病。若不用搓擦,他就不舒服。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许病者未搓擦的搓擦。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu jarādubbalo nahāyamāno na sakkoti attano kāyaṃ ugghaṃsetuṃ. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ukkāsika’’nti.
尔时,某位比库年老体弱,沐浴时无法擦拭自己的身体。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许浴刷。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū piṭṭhiparikammaṃ kātuṃ kukkuccāyanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, puthupāṇika’’nti.
尔时,诸比库对做背部按摩感到疑虑。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许宽手掌的按摩刷。」

Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū vallikaṃ dhārenti…pe… pāmaṅgaṃ dhārenti…pe… kaṇṭhasuttakaṃ dhārenti…pe… kaṭisuttakaṃ dhārenti…pe… ovaṭṭikaṃ dhārenti…pe… kāyuraṃ dhārenti…pe… hatthābharaṇaṃ dhārenti…pe… aṅgulimuddikaṃ dhārenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti…pe… seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti! Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū tesaṃ manussānaṃ ujjhāyantānaṃ khiyyantānaṃ vipācentānaṃ. Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Saccaṃ kira, bhikkhave, chabbaggiyā bhikkhū vallikaṃ dhārenti…pe… pāmaṅgaṃ dhārenti, kaṇṭhasuttakaṃ dhārenti, kaṭisuttakaṃ dhārenti, ovaṭṭikaṃ dhārenti, kāyuraṃ dhārenti, hatthābharaṇaṃ dhārenti, aṅgulimuddikaṃ dhārentī’’ti? ‘‘Saccaṃ bhagavā’’ti…pe… vigarahitvā…pe… dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘na, bhikkhave, vallikā dhāretabbā…pe… na pāmaṅgo dhāretabbo… na kaṇṭhasuttakaṃ dhāretabbaṃ… na kaṭisuttakaṃ dhāretabbaṃ… na ovaṭṭikaṃ dhāretabbaṃ… na kāyuraṃ dhāretabbaṃ… na hatthābharaṇaṃ dhāretabbaṃ… na aṅgulimuddikā dhāretabbā. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库佩戴藤环……佩戴疥癣药……佩戴颈线……佩戴腰线……佩戴腰带……佩戴臂环……佩戴手饰……佩戴指环印章。众人讥嫌、非难、责备……「犹如在家欲乐享受者!」诸比库听闻那些众人讥嫌、非难、责备。于是,那些比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,六群比库真的佩戴藤环……佩戴疥癣药、佩戴颈线、佩戴腰线、佩戴腰带、佩戴臂环、佩戴手饰、佩戴指环印章吗?」「世尊,是真的。」……呵责后……作如法语后,告诸比库:「诸比库,不应佩戴藤环……不应佩戴疥癣药……不应佩戴颈线……不应佩戴腰线……不应佩戴腰带……不应佩戴臂环……不应佩戴手饰……不应佩戴指环印章。若佩戴者,犯恶作。」

Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū dīghe kese dhārenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, dīghā kesā dhāretabbā. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, dumāsikaṃ vā duvaṅgulaṃ vā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库蓄长发。众人讥嫌、非难、责备:「犹如在家欲乐享受者!」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应蓄长发。若蓄者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许两个月或两指长。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū kocchena kese osaṇṭhenti …pe… phaṇakena kese osaṇṭhenti, hatthaphaṇakena kese osaṇṭhenti, sitthatelakena kese osaṇṭhenti, udakatelakena kese osaṇṭhenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, kocchena kesā osaṇṭhetabbā…pe… na sitthatelakena kesā osaṇṭhetabbā… na udakatelakena kesā osaṇṭhetabbā. Yo osaṇṭheyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库用梳子梳理头发……用刷子梳理头发,用手刷梳理头发,用油膏梳理头发,用水油梳理头发。众人讥嫌、非难、责备:「犹如在家欲乐享受者!」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应用梳子梳理头发……不应用油膏梳理头发……不应用水油梳理头发。若梳理者,犯恶作。」

Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū ādāsepi udakapattepi mukhanimittaṃ olokenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, ādāse vā udakapatte vā mukhanimittaṃ oloketabbaṃ. Yo olokeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库在镜子或水盆中观看面相。众人讥嫌、非难、责备:「犹如在家欲乐享受者!」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应在镜子或水盆中观看面相。若观看者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññatarassa bhikkhuno mukhe vaṇo hoti. So bhikkhū pucchi – ‘‘kīdiso me, āvuso, vaṇo’’ti? Bhikkhū evamāhaṃsu – ‘‘ediso te, āvuso vaṇo’’ti. So na saddahati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ābādhappaccayā ādāse vā udakapatte vā mukhanimittaṃ oloketu’’nti.
尔时,某位比库面上有疮。他问诸比库:「贤友们,我的疮是怎样的?」诸比库如此说:「贤友,你的疮是这样的。」他不相信。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许因病缘故,在镜子或水盆中观看面相。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū mukhaṃ ālimpanti…pe… mukhaṃ ummaddenti, mukhaṃ cuṇṇenti, manosilikāya mukhaṃ lañchenti, aṅgarāgaṃ karonti, mukharāgaṃ karonti, aṅgarāgamukharāgaṃ karonti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, mukhaṃ ālimpitabbaṃ…pe… na mukhaṃ ummadditabbaṃ, na mukhaṃ cuṇṇetabbaṃ, na manosilikāya mukhaṃ lañchetabbaṃ, na aṅgarāgo kātabbo, na mukharāgo kātabbo , na aṅgarāgamukharāgo kātabbo. Yo kareyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库涂抹脸…(中略)…按摩脸,在脸上擦粉,用雄黄在脸上画线,涂身体的颜色,涂脸的颜色,涂身体和脸的颜色。人们非难、批评、传播:「就像在家欲乐享受者一样。」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应涂抹脸…(中略)…不应按摩脸,不应在脸上擦粉,不应用雄黄在脸上画线,不应涂身体的颜色,不应涂脸的颜色,不应涂身体和脸的颜色。若做者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññatarassa bhikkhuno cakkhurogābādho hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ābādhappaccayā mukhaṃ ālimpitu’’nti.
尔时,某位比库有眼病。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许因病缘而涂抹脸。」

Tena kho pana samayena rājagahe giraggasamajjo hoti. Chabbaggiyā bhikkhū giraggasamajjaṃ dassanāya agamaṃsu. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma samaṇā sakyaputtiyā naccampi gītampi vāditampi dassanāya gacchissanti, seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhogino’’ti! Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, naccaṃ vā gītaṃ vā vāditaṃ vā dassanāya gantabbaṃ. Yo gaccheyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,王舍城有山顶集会。六群比库前往观看山顶集会。人们非难、批评、传播:「怎么沙门释迦子会前往观看舞蹈、歌唱、音乐,就像在家欲乐享受者一样!」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应前往观看舞蹈、歌唱、音乐。若前往者,犯恶作。」

Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū āyatakena gītassarena dhammaṃ gāyanti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘yatheva mayaṃ gāyāma, evamevime samaṇā sakyaputtiyā āyatakena gītassarena dhammaṃ gāyantī’’ti! Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū tesaṃ manussānaṃ ujjhāyantānaṃ khiyyantānaṃ vipācentānaṃ. Ye te bhikkhū appicchā…pe… te ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma chabbaggiyā bhikkhū āyatakena gītassarena dhammaṃ gāyissantī’’ti! Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Saccaṃ kira, bhikkhave…pe… ‘‘saccaṃ bhagavā’’ti…pe… dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘pañcime, bhikkhave, ādīnavā āyatakena gītassarena dhammaṃ gāyantassa. Attanāpi tasmiṃ sare sārajjati, parepi tasmiṃ sare sārajjanti, gahapatikāpi ujjhāyanti, sarakuttimpi nikāmayamānassa samādhissa bhaṅgo hoti, pacchimā janatā diṭṭhānugatiṃ āpajjati – ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca ādīnavā āyatakena gītassarena dhammaṃ gāyantassa. Na, bhikkhave, āyatakena gītassarena dhammo gāyitabbo. Yo gāyeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库以延长的歌声唱诵法。人们非难、批评、传播:「就像我们唱歌一样,这些沙门释迦子也以延长的歌声唱诵法!」诸比库听到那些人们非难、批评、传播。那些少欲的比库…(中略)…他们非难、批评、传播:「怎么六群比库以延长的歌声唱诵法呢!」于是那些比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,据说是真的吗?…(中略)…「是真的,世尊。」…(中略)…作法谈后,告诉诸比库:「诸比库,以延长的歌声唱诵法者有这五种过患:自己对那声音生起染着,他人对那声音生起染着,在家人也非难,欲求声音技巧者定被破坏,后来的人会随学。诸比库,以延长的歌声唱诵法者有这五种过患。诸比库,不应以延长的歌声唱诵法。若唱诵者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū sarabhaññe kukkuccāyanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, sarabhañña’’nti.
尔时,诸比库对声音的断句感到疑虑。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许声音的断句。」
‘‘Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū bāhiralomiṃ uṇṇiṃ dhārenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti . Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, bāhiyalomi uṇṇi dhāretabbā. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库穿戴外面有毛的羊毛。人们非难、批评、传播:「就像在家欲乐享受者一样。」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应穿戴外面有毛的羊毛。若穿戴者,犯恶作。」

Tena kho pana samayena rañño māgadhassa seniyassa bimbisārassa ārāme ambā phalino honti. Raññā māgadhena seniyena bimbisārena anuññātaṃ hoti – ‘‘yathāsukhaṃ ayyā ambaṃ paribhuñjantū’’ti. Chabbaggiyā bhikkhū taruṇaññeva ambaṃ pātāpetvā paribhuñjiṃsu. Rañño ca māgadhassa seniyassa bimbisārassa ambena attho hoti. Atha kho rājā māgadho seniyo bimbisāro manusse āṇāpesi – ‘‘gacchatha, bhaṇe, ārāmaṃ gantvā ambaṃ āharathā’’ti . ‘‘Evaṃ devā’’ti kho te manussā rañño māgadhassa seniyassa bimbisārassa paṭissutvā ārāmaṃ gantvā ārāmapālaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘devassa, bhaṇe, ambena attho, ambaṃ dethā’’ti. ‘‘Natthāyyā ambaṃ. Taruṇaññeva ambaṃ pātāpetvā bhikkhū paribhuñjiṃsū’’ti. Atha kho te manussā rañño māgadhassa seniyassa bimbisārassa etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Suparibhuttaṃ, bhaṇe, ayyehi ambaṃ, api ca bhagavatā mattā vaṇṇitā’’ti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma samaṇā sakyaputtiyā na mattaṃ jānitvā rañño ambaṃ paribhuñjissantī’’ti! Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū tesaṃ manussānaṃ ujjhāyantānaṃ khiyyantānaṃ vipācentānaṃ. Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, ambaṃ paribhuñjitabbaṃ. Yo paribhuñjeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,马嘎达国王色尼耶频毗娑罗的园中芒果结果。马嘎达国王色尼耶频毗娑罗已允许:「尊者们随意享用芒果。」六群比库摘下还未成熟的芒果后享用。马嘎达国王色尼耶频毗娑罗需要芒果。于是马嘎达国王色尼耶频毗娑罗命令人们:「你们去,前往园中取来芒果。」「是的,陛下。」那些人回答马嘎达国王色尼耶频毗娑罗后,前往园中对园丁说:「陛下需要芒果,给芒果。」「尊者们,没有芒果。比库们摘下还未成熟的芒果后享用了。」于是那些人将此事禀告马嘎达国王色尼耶频毗娑罗。「你们,尊者们很好地享用了芒果,而且世尊赞叹知量。」人们非难、批评、传播:「怎么沙门释迦子不知量而享用国王的芒果呢!」诸比库听到那些人们非难、批评、传播。于是那些比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应享用芒果。若享用者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññatarassa pūgassa saṅghabhattaṃ hoti. Sūpe ambapesikāyo pakkhittā honti. Bhikkhū kukkuccāyantā nappaṭiggaṇhanti. ‘‘Paṭiggaṇhatha, bhikkhave, paribhuñjatha. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ambapesika’’nti.
尔时,某个团体有僧团食。汤中放入了芒果片。诸比库疑虑而不接受。「诸比库,接受,享用。诸比库,我允许芒果片。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññatarassa pūgassa saṅghabhattaṃ hoti. Te na pariyāpuṇiṃsu ambapesikaṃ kātuṃ, bhattagge sakaleheva ambehi denti. Bhikkhū kukkuccāyantā nappaṭiggaṇhanti. ‘‘Paṭiggaṇhatha , bhikkhave, paribhuñjatha. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, pañcahi samaṇakappehi phalaṃ paribhuñjituṃ – aggiparicitaṃ , satthaparicitaṃ, nakhaparicitaṃ, abījaṃ, nibbattabījaññeva pañcamaṃ. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, imehi pañcahi samaṇakappehi phalaṃ paribhuñjitu’’nti.
尔时,某一群人有僧团食。他们不懂得做芒果片,在食堂以整个芒果布施。诸比库疑虑而不接受。「诸比库,你们接受、受用吧。诸比库,我允许以五种沙门法受用果实——火所触、刀所触、指甲所触、无种子、已去种子为第五。诸比库,我允许以这五种沙门法受用果实。」

Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu ahinā daṭṭho kālaṅkato hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na hi nūna so, bhikkhave, bhikkhu imāni cattāri ahirājakulāni mettena cittena phari. Sace hi so, bhikkhave, bhikkhu imāni cattāri ahirājakulāni mettena cittena phareyya, na hi so, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ahinā daṭṭho kālaṅkareyya. Katamāni cattāri ahirājakulāni? Virūpakkhaṃ ahirājakulaṃ, erāpathaṃ ahirājakulaṃ, chabyāputtaṃ ahirājakulaṃ, kaṇhāgotamaṃ ahirājakulaṃ . Na hi nūna so, bhikkhave, bhikkhu imāni cattāri ahirājakulāni mettena cittena phari. Sace hi so, bhikkhave, bhikkhu imāni cattāri ahirājakulāni mettena cittena phareyya, na hi so, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ahinā daṭṭho kālaṅkareyya. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, imāni cattāri ahirājakulāni mettena cittena pharituṃ, attaguttiyā attarakkhāya attaparittaṃ kātuṃ. Evañca pana, bhikkhave, kātabbaṃ –
尔时,某位比库被蛇咬而死时。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,那位比库确实没有以慈心遍满这四种蛇王族。诸比库,如果那位比库以慈心遍满这四种蛇王族,诸比库,那位比库就不会被蛇咬而死时。哪四种蛇王族?韦卢巴卡蛇王族、埃拉巴他蛇王族、恰比亚子蛇王族、黑果德玛蛇王族。诸比库,那位比库确实没有以慈心遍满这四种蛇王族。诸比库,如果那位比库以慈心遍满这四种蛇王族,诸比库,那位比库就不会被蛇咬而死时。诸比库,我允许以慈心遍满这四种蛇王族,为了自护、自守、作自护卫。诸比库,应当这样做——
‘‘Virūpakkhehi me mettaṃ, mettaṃ erāpathehi me;
「愿我对韦卢巴卡们慈爱,愿我对埃拉巴他们慈爱;
Chabyāputtehi me mettaṃ, mettaṃ kaṇhāgotamakehi ca.
愿我对恰比亚子们慈爱,以及愿我对黑果德玛们慈爱。
‘‘Apādakehi me mettaṃ, mettaṃ dvipādakehi me;
「愿我对无足者慈爱,愿我对二足者慈爱;
Catuppadehi me mettaṃ, mettaṃ bahuppadehi me.
愿我对四足者慈爱,愿我对多足者慈爱。
‘‘Mā maṃ apādako hiṃsi, mā maṃ hiṃsi dvipādako;
「愿无足者勿伤害我,愿二足者勿伤害我;
Mā maṃ catuppado hiṃsi, mā maṃ hiṃsi bahuppado.
愿四足者勿伤害我,愿多足者勿伤害我。
‘‘Sabbe sattā sabbe pāṇā, sabbe bhūtā ca kevalā;
「愿一切有情、一切有息者、一切生类、一切众生,
Sabbe bhadrāni passantu, mā kiñci pāpamāgamā.
愿他们都见到吉祥,愿任何恶事都不降临。
‘‘Appamāṇo buddho, appamāṇo dhammo,
「无量的佛,无量的法,
Appamāṇo saṅgho, pamāṇavantāni sarīsapāni .
无量的僧伽,有量的爬行类。
‘‘Ahi vicchikā satapadī, uṇṇanābhi sarabū mūsikā;
「蛇、蝎、蜈蚣、蜘蛛、蜥蜴、老鼠,
Katā me rakkhā kataṃ me parittaṃ, paṭikkamantu bhūtāni.
我已作护卫,我已作护卫,愿诸生类退去。
‘‘Sohaṃ namo bhagavato, namo sattannaṃ sammāsambuddhāna’’nti.
「我礼敬世尊,礼敬七位正等正觉者。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu anabhiratiyā pīḷito attano aṅgajātaṃ chindi. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Aññamhi so, bhikkhave, moghapuriso chetabbamhi, aññaṃ chindi. Na, bhikkhave, attano aṅgajātaṃ chetabbaṃ. Yo chindeyya, āpatti thullaccayassā’’ti.
尔时,有一位比库被不喜乐所逼恼,切断了自己的肢体。他们将此事告知世尊。「诸比库,那愚痴人应切断的是一事,却切断了另一事。诸比库,不应切断自己的肢体。若切断者,犯土喇吒亚。」

Tena kho pana samayena rājagahakassa seṭṭhissa mahagghassa candanassa candanagaṇṭhi uppannā hoti. Atha kho rājagahakassa seṭṭhissa etadahosi – ‘‘yaṃnūnāhaṃ imāya candanagaṇṭhiyā pattaṃ lekhāpeyyaṃ. Lekhañca me paribhogaṃ bhavissati, pattañca dānaṃ dassāmī’’ti. Atha kho rājagahako seṭṭhi tāya candanagaṇṭhiyā pattaṃ lekhāpetvā sikkāya uḍḍitvā veḷagge ālaggetvā veḷuparamparāya bandhitvā evamāha – ‘‘yo samaṇo vā brāhmaṇo vā arahā ceva iddhimā ca dinnaṃyeva pattaṃ oharatū’’ti. Atha kho pūraṇo kassapo yena rājagahako seṭṭhi tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā rājagahakaṃ seṭṭhiṃ etadavoca – ‘‘ahañhi, gahapati, arahā ceva iddhimā ca, dehi me patta’’nti. ‘‘Sace, bhante, āyasmā arahā ceva iddhimā ca dinnaṃyeva pattaṃ oharatū’’ti. Atha kho makkhali gosālo… ajito kesakambalo… pakudho kaccāyano… sañcayo belaṭṭhaputto … nigaṇṭho nāṭaputto yena rājagahako seṭṭhi tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā rājagahakaṃ seṭṭhiṃ etadavoca – ‘‘ahañhi, gahapati, arahā ceva iddhimā ca, dehi me patta’’nti. ‘‘Sace, bhante, āyasmā arahā ceva iddhimā ca, dinnaṃyeva pattaṃ oharatū’’ti.
尔时,王舍城长者有一块贵重的栴檀木生出栴檀瘤。时,王舍城长者生起此念:「我何不以此栴檀瘤制作钵?制作对我将是受用,而钵我将施予。」时,王舍城长者以彼栴檀瘤制作钵后,挂在竹竿顶端,以竹竿相连系起,如是说:「若沙门或婆罗门是阿拉汉且具神通力者,可取下所施之钵。」时,富兰那咖沙巴前往王舍城长者处,抵达后对王舍城长者如是说:「居士,我是阿拉汉且具神通力,请给我钵。」「尊者,若具寿是阿拉汉且具神通力者,可取下所施之钵。」时,末咖利果沙喇……阿夷多翅舍钦婆喇……巴古德咖吒亚那……散迦亚韦喇提子……尼干陀那他子前往王舍城长者处,抵达后对王舍城长者如是说:「居士,我是阿拉汉且具神通力,请给我钵。」「尊者,若具寿是阿拉汉且具神通力者,可取下所施之钵。」
Tena kho pana samayena āyasmā ca mahāmoggallāno āyasmā ca piṇḍolabhāradvājo pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya rājagahaṃ piṇḍāya pavisiṃsu. Atha kho āyasmā piṇḍolabhāradvājo āyasmantaṃ mahāmoggallānaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘āyasmā kho mahāmoggallāno arahā ceva iddhimā ca. Gacchāvuso, moggallāna, etaṃ pattaṃ ohara. Tuyheso patto’’ti. ‘‘Āyasmā kho bhāradvājo arahā ceva iddhimā ca. Gacchāvuso, bhāradvāja, etaṃ pattaṃ ohara. Tuyheso patto’’ti. Atha kho āyasmā piṇḍolabhāradvājo vehāsaṃ abbhuggantvā taṃ pattaṃ gahetvā tikkhattuṃ rājagahaṃ anupariyāyi.
尔时,具寿马哈摩嘎喇那与具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦于上午时分着下衣,持钵与衣,进入王舍城行乞食。时,具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦对具寿马哈摩嘎喇那如是说:「具寿马哈摩嘎喇那是阿拉汉且具神通力。贤友摩嘎喇那,请去取下彼钵。此钵属于你。」「具寿巴喇德瓦迦是阿拉汉且具神通力。贤友巴喇德瓦迦,请去取下彼钵。此钵属于你。」时,具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦升至空中,取下彼钵后,三次绕王舍城飞行。
Tena kho pana samayena rājagahako seṭṭhi saputtadāro sake nivesane ṭhito hoti pañjaliko namassamāno – idheva, bhante, ayyo bhāradvājo amhākaṃ nivesane patiṭṭhātūti. Atha kho āyasmā piṇḍolabhāradvājo rājagahakassa seṭṭhissa nivesane patiṭṭhāsi. Atha kho rājagahako seṭṭhi āyasmato piṇḍolabhāradvājassa hatthato pattaṃ gahetvā mahagghassa khādanīyassa pūretvā āyasmato piṇḍolabhāradvājassa adāsi. Atha kho āyasmā piṇḍolabhāradvājo taṃ pattaṃ gahetvā ārāmaṃ agamāsi. Assosuṃ kho manussā – ayyena kira piṇḍolabhāradvājena rājagahakassa seṭṭhissa patto ohāritoti. Te ca manussā uccāsaddā mahāsaddā āyasmantaṃ piṇḍolabhāradvājaṃ piṭṭhito piṭṭhito anubandhiṃsu.
尔时,王舍城长者与子妻站在自己的住处,合掌礼敬:「尊者巴喇德瓦迦,请就在此处降落于我们的住处。」时,具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦降落于王舍城长者的住处。时,王舍城长者从具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦手中取钵,盛满贵重的副食后,施予具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦。时,具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦取彼钵后,前往精舍。众人听闻:「据说具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦取下了王舍城长者的钵。」彼等众人高声大声,在具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦后面跟随。
Assesi kho bhagavā uccāsaddaṃ mahāsaddaṃ; sutvāna āyasmantaṃ ānandaṃ āmantesi – ‘‘kiṃ nu kho so, ānanda, uccāsaddo mahāsaddo’’ti? ‘‘Āyasmatā, bhante, piṇḍolabhāradvājena rājagahakassa seṭṭhissa patto ohārito. Assosuṃ kho, bhante, manussā – ayyena kira piṇḍolabhāradvājena rājagahakassa seṭṭhissa patto ohāritoti. Te ca, bhante, manussā uccāsaddā mahāsaddā āyasmantaṃ piṇḍolabhāradvājaṃ piṭṭhito piṭṭhito anubandhā. So eso, bhante, bhagavā uccāsaddo mahāsaddo’’ti. Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe bhikkhusaṅghaṃ sannipātāpetvā āyasmantaṃ piṇḍolabhāradvājaṃ paṭipucchi – ‘‘saccaṃ kira tayā, bhāradvāja, rājagahakassa seṭṭhissa patto ohārito’’ti? ‘‘Saccaṃ bhagavā’’ti. Vigarahi buddho bhagavā – ‘‘ananucchavikaṃ, bhāradvāja, ananulomikaṃ appatirūpaṃ assāmaṇakaṃ akappiyaṃ akaraṇīyaṃ. Kathañhi nāma tvaṃ, bhāradvāja, chavassa dārupattassa kāraṇā gihīnaṃ uttarimanussadhammaṃ iddhipāṭihāriyaṃ dassessasi! Seyyathāpi, bhāradvāja, mātugāmo chavassa māsakarūpassa kāraṇā kopinaṃ dasseti, evameva kho tayā, bhāradvāja, chavassa dārupattassa kāraṇā gihīnaṃ uttarimanussadhammaṃ iddhipāṭihāriyaṃ dassitaṃ. Netaṃ, bhāradvāja, appasannānaṃ vā pasādāya…pe… vigarahitvā…pe… dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘na, bhikkhave, gihīnaṃ uttarimanussadhammaṃ iddhipāṭihāriyaṃ dassetabbaṃ. Yo dasseyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Bhindathetaṃ, bhikkhave, dārupattaṃ sakalikaṃ sakalikaṃ katvā , bhikkhūnaṃ añjanupapisanaṃ detha. Na ca, bhikkhave, dārupatto dhāretabbo. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
世尊听闻高声大声;听闻后,告诉具寿阿难:「阿难,为何有此高声大声?」「世尊,具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦取下了王舍城长者的钵。世尊,众人听闻:『据说具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦取下了王舍城长者的钵。』世尊,彼等众人高声大声,在具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦后面跟随。世尊,此即彼高声大声。」时,世尊以此因缘、此事件,召集比库僧团后,询问具寿宾度喇巴喇德瓦迦:「巴喇德瓦迦,据说你取下了王舍城长者的钵,是真实的吗?」「世尊,是真实的。」佛世尊呵责:「巴喇德瓦迦,不适当、不随顺、不适合、非沙门所为、不允许、不应做。巴喇德瓦迦,你为何为了死尸般的木钵之因,向在家人展示上人法神通变化?巴喇德瓦迦,譬如妇女为了死尸般的豆子之因而展示私处,同样地,巴喇德瓦迦,你为了死尸般的木钵之因,向在家人展示了上人法神通变化。巴喇德瓦迦,此非令未信者生信……呵责后……作法说后,告诉诸比库:「诸比库,不应向在家人展示上人法神通变化。若展示者,犯恶作。诸比库,你们应将此木钵打碎成碎片,给予诸比库作眼药研磨器。诸比库,不应持木钵。若持者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū uccāvace patte dhārenti sovaṇṇamayaṃ rūpiyamayaṃ. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, sovaṇṇamayo patto dhāretabbo…pe… na rūpiyamayo patto dhāretabbo… na maṇimayo patto dhāretabbo… na veḷuriyamayo patto dhāretabbo… na phalikamayo patto dhāretabbo… na kaṃsamayo patto dhāretabbo… na kācamayo patto dhāretabbo… na tipumayo patto dhāretabbo… na sīsamayo patto dhāretabbo… na tambalohamayo patto dhāretabbo. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, dve patte – ayopattaṃ, mattikāpatta’’nti.
尔时,六群比库持各种钵——金制的、银制的。众人讥嫌、非难、呵责:「如在家欲乐享受者。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应持金制钵……不应持银制钵……不应持宝石制钵……不应持琉璃制钵……不应持水晶制钵……不应持青铜制钵……不应持玻璃制钵……不应持锡制钵……不应持铅制钵……不应持红铜制钵。若持者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许两种钵——铁钵、陶钵。」

Tena kho pana samayena pattamūlaṃ ghaṃsiyati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, pattamaṇḍala’’nti.
尔时,钵底被磨损。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许钵座。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū uccāvacāni pattamaṇḍalāni dhārenti sovaṇṇamayaṃ rūpiyamayaṃ. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, uccāvacāni pattamaṇḍalāni dhāretabbāni. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, dve pattamaṇḍalāni – tipumayaṃ, sīsamaya’’nti. Bahalāni maṇḍalāni na acchupiyanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, likhitu’’nti. Valī honti . Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, makaradantakaṃ chinditu’’nti.
尔时,六群比库持各种钵座——金制的、银制的。众人讥嫌、非难、呵责:「如在家欲乐享受者。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应持各种钵座。若持者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许两种钵座——锡制的、铅制的。」厚的钵座不透明。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许刻划。」有皱纹。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许切除鳄鱼齿状。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū citrāni pattamaṇḍalāni dhārenti rūpakākiṇṇāni bhittikammakatāni. Tāni rathikāyapi dassentā āhiṇḍanti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, citrāni pattamaṇḍalāni dhāretabbāni rūpakākiṇṇāni bhittikammakatāni. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, pakatimaṇḍala’’nti.
尔时,六群比库持彩绘的钵座,充满图像,作成壁画。彼等在街道上展示而游行。众人讥嫌、非难、呵责:「如在家欲乐享受者。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应持彩绘的钵座,充满图像,作成壁画。若持者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许自然钵座。」

Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū sodakaṃ pattaṃ paṭisāmenti. Patto dussati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, sodako patto paṭisāmetabbo. Yo paṭisāmeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, otāpetvā pattaṃ paṭisāmetu’’nti.
尔时,诸比库收藏湿的钵。钵变坏了。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应收藏湿的钵。若收藏者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许晒干后收藏钵。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū sodakaṃ pattaṃ otāpenti. Patto duggandho hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, sodako patto otāpetabbo. Yo otāpeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, vodakaṃ katvā otāpetvā pattaṃ paṭisāmetu’’nti.
尔时,诸比库晒湿的钵。钵有臭味。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应晒湿的钵。若晒者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许去除水后晒干,然后收藏钵。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū uṇhe pattaṃ nidahanti. Pattassa vaṇṇo dussati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, uṇhe patto nidahitabbo. Yo nidaheyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, muhuttaṃ uṇhe otāpetvā pattaṃ paṭisāmetu’’nti.
尔时,诸比库在热时放置钵。钵的色泽变坏了。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应在热时放置钵。若放置者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许在热时晒一会儿后收藏钵。」

Pattamāḷako paripatitvā patto bhijjati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, pattakuṇḍolika’’nti. Pattakuṇḍolikāya patto ghaṃsiyati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, pattathavika’’nti . Aṃsabaddhako na hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, aṃsabaddhakaṃ bandhanasuttaka’’nti.
尔时,诸比库在地上覆置钵。钵缘被磨损。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许草垫。」草垫被白蚁啃食。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许布片。」布片被白蚁啃食。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许钵台。」钵从钵台掉落后破碎了。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许钵圈。」钵在钵圈中被磨损。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许钵袋。」没有肩带。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许肩带、系绳。」

尔时,诸比库手持钵而开门。门转回而钵破碎。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库!不应手持钵而开门。若开者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū tumbakaṭāhe piṇḍāya caranti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi titthiyāti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, tumbakaṭāhe piṇḍāya caritabbaṃ. Yo careyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,诸比库以葫芦钵行乞食。人们非难、呵责、传播:「如同外道一般。」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库!不应以葫芦钵行乞食。若行者,犯恶作。」

尔时,诸比库以瓦钵行乞食。人们非难、呵责、传播:「如同外道一般。」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库!不应以瓦钵行乞食。若行者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu sabbapaṃsukūliko hoti. So chavasīsassa pattaṃ dhāreti. Aññatarā itthī passitvā bhītā vissaramakāsi – ‘‘abhuṃ me pisāco vatāya’’nti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma samaṇā sakyaputtiyā chavasīsassa pattaṃ dhāressanti, seyyathāpi pisācillikā’’ti! Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, chavasīsassa patto dhāretabbo. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Na ca, bhikkhave, sabbapaṃsukūlikena bhavitabbaṃ. Yo bhaveyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,某位比库是完全尘堆衣者。他持用死人头骨作钵。某位妇女见后惊恐尖叫:「啊!我遇到食人鬼了!」人们非难、呵责、传播:「沙门释迦子怎能持用死人头骨作钵,如同食人鬼一般!」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库!不应持用死人头骨作钵。若持用者,犯恶作。诸比库!不应作完全尘堆衣者。若作者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū calakānipi aṭṭhikānipi ucchiṭṭhodakampi pattena nīharanti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘yasmiṃ yevime samaṇā sakyaputtiyā bhuñjanti sova nesaṃ paṭiggaho’’ti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na bhikkhave, calakāni vā aṭṭhikāni vā ucchiṭṭhodakaṃ vā pattena nīharitabbaṃ. Yo nīhareyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, paṭiggaha’’nti.
尔时,诸比库用钵取出残渣、骨头或残余的水。人们非难、批评、传播:「这些释迦子沙门在其中吃的,那就是他们的受器。」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应用钵取出残渣、骨头或残余的水。若取出者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许受器。」

Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū hatthena vipphāḷetvā cīvaraṃ sibbenti. Cīvaraṃ vilomikaṃ hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, satthakaṃ namataka’’nti.
尔时,诸比库用手撕开后缝衣。衣变得粗糙。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许刀和针。」
Tena kho pana samayena saṅghassa daṇḍasatthakaṃ uppannaṃ hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, daṇḍasatthaka’’nti .
尔时,僧团得到柄刀。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许柄刀。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū uccāvace satthakadaṇḍe dhārenti sovaṇṇamayaṃ rūpiyamayaṃ. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, uccāvacā satthakadaṇḍā dhāretabbā. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, aṭṭhimayaṃ dantamayaṃ visāṇamayaṃ naḷamayaṃ veḷumayaṃ kaṭṭhamayaṃ jatumayaṃ phalamayaṃ lohamayaṃ saṅkhanābhimaya’’nti.
尔时,六群比库持用各种刀柄,金制的、银制的。人们非难、批评、传播:「如同在家欲乐享受者。」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应持用各种刀柄。若持用者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许骨制的、牙制的、角制的、芦苇制的、竹制的、木制的、树脂制的、果实制的、铜制的、螺钿制的。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū kukkuṭapattenapi veḷupesikāyapi cīvaraṃ sibbenti. Cīvaraṃ dussibbitaṃ hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, sūci’’nti. Sūciyo kaṇṇakitāyo honti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave , sūcināḷika’’nti. Sūcināḷikāyapi kaṇṇakitāyo honti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, kiṇṇena pūretu’’nti. Kiṇṇepi kaṇṇakitāyo honti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, sattuyā pūretu’’nti. Sattuyāpi kaṇṇakitāyo honti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, saritaka’’nti. Saritakepi kaṇṇakitāyo honti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, madhusitthakena sāretu’’nti. Saritakaṃ paribhijjati. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, saritakasipāṭika’’nti.
尔时,诸比库用鸡毛或竹片缝衣。衣缝得不好。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许针。」针有刺……「诸比库,我允许针筒。」针筒也有刺……「诸比库,我允许用面粉填充。」面粉也有刺……「诸比库,我允许用炒面填充。」炒面也有刺……「诸比库,我允许芦苇。」芦苇也有刺……「诸比库,我允许用蜜蜡涂抹。」芦苇破裂。「诸比库,我允许芦苇套。」

Kathinaṃ paribhijjati…pe… ‘‘na, bhikkhave, visame kathinaṃ pattharitabbaṃ. Yo patthareyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,诸比库在各处拔出楔子、绑住后缝衣。衣变得有角。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许在各处绑住咖提那和咖提那绳后缝衣。」他们在不平的地方铺展咖提那。咖提那破裂……「诸比库,不应在不平的地方铺展咖提那。若铺展者,犯恶作。」
Chamāya kathinaṃ pattharanti. Kathinaṃ paṃsukitaṃ hoti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, tiṇasanthāraka’’nti. Kathinassa anto jīrati…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, anuvātaṃ paribhaṇḍaṃ āropetu’’nti. Kathinaṃ nappahoti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, daṇḍakathinaṃ bidalakaṃ salākaṃ vinandhanarajjuṃ vinandhanasuttaṃ vinandhitvā cīvaraṃ sibbetu’’nti. Suttantarikāyo visamā honti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi , bhikkhave, kaḷimbhaka’’nti. Suttā vaṅkā honti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, moghasuttaka’’nti.
他们在地上铺展咖提那。咖提那沾满尘土……「诸比库,我允许草垫。」咖提那内部腐烂……「诸比库,我允许放上顺风的围布。」咖提那不够……「诸比库,我允许绑住杆咖提那、板、棍、绷绳、绷线后缝衣。」线间不平……「诸比库,我允许压线板。」线弯曲……「诸比库,我允许拉线。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū adhotehi pādehi kathinaṃ akkamanti. Kathinaṃ dussati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, adhotehi pādehi kathinaṃ akkamitabbaṃ. Yo akkameyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,诸比库以未洗的脚踏上咖提那。咖提那变脏。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应以未洗的脚踏上咖提那。若踏上者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū allehi pādehi kathinaṃ akkamanti. Kathinaṃ dussati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na , bhikkhave, allehi pādehi kathinaṃ akkamitabbaṃ. Yo akkameyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,诸比库以湿脚踩踏咖提那衣架。咖提那衣架被弄脏。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应以湿脚踩踏咖提那衣架。若踩踏者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū saupāhanā kathinaṃ akkamanti. Kathinaṃ dussati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, saupāhanena kathinaṃ akkamitabbaṃ. Yo akkameyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,诸比库穿着鞋踩踏咖提那衣架。咖提那衣架被弄脏。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应穿着鞋踩踏咖提那衣架。若踩踏者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū cīvaraṃ sibbantā aṅguliyā paṭiggaṇhanti. Aṅguliyo dukkhā honti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, paṭiggaha’’nti.
尔时,诸比库缝衣时以指接受。手指疼痛。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许顶针。」

Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, uccāvacā paṭiggahā dhāretabbā. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, aṭṭhimayaṃ…pe… saṅkhanābhimaya’’nti.
尔时,六群比库持用各种顶针——金制的、银制的。人们非难、批评、传播:「如同在家享受欲乐者一般。」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应持用各种顶针。若持用者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许骨制的……乃至……贝壳制的。」
Tena kho pana samayena sūciyopi satthakāpi paṭiggahāpi nassanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, āvesanavitthaka’’nti. Āvesanavitthake samākulā honti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, paṭiggahathavika’’nti. Aṃsabaddhako na hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, aṃsabaddhakaṃ bandhanasuttaka’’nti.
尔时,针、刀、顶针遗失。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许插针布。」插针布混乱。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许顶针袋。」没有肩带。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许肩带、系绳。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū abbhokāse cīvaraṃ sibbantā sītenapi uṇhenapi kilamanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, kathinasālaṃ kathinamaṇḍapa’’nti. Kathinasālā nīcavatthukā hoti, udakena otthariyyati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave uccavatthukaṃ kātu’’nti. Cayo paripatati…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, cinituṃ tayo caye – iṭṭhakācayaṃ, silācayaṃ, dārucaya’’nti. Ārohantā vihaññanti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, tayo sopāne – iṭṭhakāsopānaṃ, silāsopānaṃ, dārusopāna’’nti. Ārohantā paripatanti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ālambanabāha’’nti. Kathinasālāya tiṇacuṇṇaṃ paripatati…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ogumphetvā ullittāvalittaṃ kātuṃ – setavaṇṇaṃ kāḷavaṇṇaṃ gerukaparikammaṃ mālākammaṃ latākammaṃ makaradantakaṃ pañcapaṭikaṃ cīvaravaṃsaṃ cīvararajjuka’’nti.
尔时,诸比库在露地缝衣,因寒冷与炎热而疲劳。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许咖提那衣堂、咖提那衣棚。」咖提那衣堂地基低,被水淹没。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许建造高地基。」堆积物倒塌……「诸比库,我允许砌筑三种堆积——砖堆、石堆、木堆。」登上时受妨碍……「诸比库,我允许三种阶梯——砖阶、石阶、木阶。」登上时跌落……「诸比库,我允许扶手栏杆。」咖提那衣堂的草屑掉落……「诸比库,我允许编织后涂抹——白色、黑色、赭石装饰、花纹装饰、藤纹装饰、鳄齿纹、五条纹、衣竿、衣绳。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū cīvaraṃ sibbetvā tattheva kathinaṃ ujjhitvā pakkamanti, undūrehipi upacikāhipi khajjati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, kathinaṃ saṅgharitu’’nti. Kathinaṃ paribhijjati…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, goghaṃsikāya kathinaṃ saṅgharitu’’nti. Kathinaṃ viniveṭhiyati…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, bandhanarajju’’nti .
尔时,诸比库缝完衣后,就在那里丢下咖提那衣架离去,被老鼠与白蚁啃咬。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许收起咖提那衣架。」咖提那衣架破裂……「诸比库,我允许用牛皮包裹咖提那衣架收起。」咖提那衣架松开……「诸比库,我允许系绳。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū kuṭṭepi thambhepi kathinaṃ ussāpetvā pakkamanti. Paripatitvā kathinaṃ bhijjati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, bhittikhile vā nāgadante vā laggetu’’nti.
尔时,诸比库将咖提那衣架竖立在柱子或桩上后离去。倒下后咖提那衣架破裂。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许挂在墙钉或象牙钉上。」

Atha kho bhagavā rājagahe yathābhirantaṃ viharitvā yena vesālī tena cārikaṃ pakkāmi. Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū sūcikampi satthakampi bhesajjampi pattena ādāya gacchanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, bhesajjatthavika’’nti. Aṃsabaddhako na hoti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, aṃsabaddhakaṃ bandhanasuttaka’’nti.
那时,世尊在王舍城随意住已,向韦萨离出发游行。尔时,诸比库拿着针、刀、药,用钵而行。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许药囊。」没有肩带……「诸比库,我允许肩带、系绳。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu upāhanāyo kāyabandhanena bandhitvā gāmaṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Aññataro upāsako taṃ bhikkhuṃ abhivādento upāhanāyo sīsena ghaṭṭeti. So bhikkhu maṅku ahosi. Atha kho so bhikkhu ārāmaṃ gantvā bhikkhūnaṃ etamatthaṃ ārocesi. Bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, upāhanatthavika’’nti. Aṃsabaddhako na hoti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, aṃsabaddhakaṃ bandhanasuttaka’’nti.
尔时,有一位比库用身带系着鞋,入村乞食。有一位近事男礼敬那位比库时,以头触及鞋。那位比库感到羞愧。那时,那位比库前往精舍,将此事告诉诸比库。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许鞋囊。」没有肩带……「诸比库,我允许肩带、系绳。」
Tena kho pana samayena antarāmagge udakaṃ akappiyaṃ hoti. Parissāvanaṃ na hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi , bhikkhave, parissāvana’’nti. Coḷakaṃ nappahoti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, kaṭacchuparissāvana’’nti. Coḷakaṃ nappahoti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, dhammakaraṇa’’nti .
尔时,路途中的水须跋。没有滤水器。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许滤水器。」布不够……「诸比库,我允许木片滤水器。」布不够……「诸比库,我允许法作。」

Tena kho pana samayena dve bhikkhū kosalesu janapade addhānamaggappaṭipannā honti. Eko bhikkhu anācāraṃ ācarati. Dutiyo bhikkhu taṃ bhikkhuṃ etadavoca – ‘‘mā, āvuso, evarūpaṃ akāsi. Netaṃ kappatī’’ti. So tasmiṃ upanandhi. Atha kho so bhikkhu pipāsāya pīḷito upanaddhaṃ bhikkhuṃ etadavoca – ‘‘dehi me, āvuso, parissāvanaṃ, pānīyaṃ pivissāmī’’ti. Upanaddho bhikkhu na adāsi. So bhikkhu pipāsāya pīḷito kālamakāsi. Atha kho so bhikkhu ārāmaṃ gantvā bhikkhūnaṃ etamatthaṃ ārocesi. ‘‘Kiṃ pana tvaṃ, āvuso, parissāvanaṃ yāciyamāno na adāsī’’ti? ‘‘Evamāvuso’’ti. Ye te bhikkhū appicchā…pe… te ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma bhikkhu parissāvanaṃ yāciyamāno na dassatī’’ti! Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe bhikkhusaṅghaṃ sannipātāpetvā taṃ bhikkhuṃ paṭipucchi – ‘‘saccaṃ kira tvaṃ, bhikkhu, parissāvanaṃ yāciyamāno na adāsī’’ti? ‘‘Saccaṃ bhagavā’’ti. Vigarahi buddho bhagavā – ‘‘ananucchavikaṃ, moghapurisa, ananulomikaṃ appatirūpaṃ assāmaṇakaṃ akappiyaṃ akaraṇīyaṃ. Kathañhi nāma tvaṃ, moghapurisa, parissāvanaṃ yāciyamāno na dassasi. Netaṃ, moghapurisa , appasannānaṃ vā pasādāya…pe… vigarahitvā…pe… dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘na bhikkhave, addhānamaggappaṭipannena bhikkhunā parissāvanaṃ yāciyamānena na dātabbaṃ. Yo na dadeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Na ca, bhikkhave, aparissāvanakena addhāno paṭipajjitabbo. Yo paṭipajjeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Sace na hoti parissāvanaṃ vā dhammakaraṇo vā, saṅghāṭikaṇṇopi adhiṭṭhātabbo – iminā parissāvetvā pivissāmī’’ti. Atha kho bhagavā anupubbena cārikaṃ caramāno yena vesālī tadavasari. Tatra sudaṃ bhagavā vesāliyaṃ viharati mahāvane kūṭāgārasālāyaṃ . Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū navakammaṃ karonti. Parissāvanaṃ na sammati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, daṇḍaparissāvana’’nti. Daṇḍaparissāvanaṃ na sammati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ottharaka’’nti.
尔时,有两位比库在国萨拉国行于道路。一位比库行不如法行。第二位比库对那位比库说:「具寿,不要作这样的事。这不如法。」他对那位比库怀恨。那时,那位比库被渴所逼,对怀恨的比库说:「具寿,给我滤水器,我要喝水。」怀恨的比库不给。那位比库被渴所逼而命终。那时,那位比库前往精舍,将此事告诉诸比库。「具寿,为何你被请求滤水器而不给?」「是的,具寿。」那些少欲的诸比库……他们抱怨、非难、呵责:「为何比库被请求滤水器而不给?」那时,那些比库将此事禀告世尊。那时,世尊以此因缘、以此事件,召集比库僧团,询问那位比库:「比库,听说你被请求滤水器而不给,是真的吗?」「是真的,世尊。」佛世尊呵责:「愚痴人,这是不适当的、不随顺的、不合适的、非沙门所为的、不如法的、不应作的。愚痴人,为何你被请求滤水器而不给?愚痴人,这不能使未信者生信……」呵责后……作法说后,告诉诸比库:「诸比库,行于道路的比库被请求滤水器,不应不给。若不给者,犯恶作。诸比库,不应无滤水器而行路。若行者,犯恶作。若没有滤水器或法作,应决意桑喀帝角——『我将以此滤水而饮。』」那时,世尊次第游行,到达韦萨离。在那里,世尊住在韦萨离大林重阁讲堂。尔时,诸比库作新工作。滤水器不够。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许杖滤水器。」杖滤水器不够。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许滤水布。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū makasehi ubbāḷhā honti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, makasakuṭika’’nti.
尔时,诸比库被蚊虫所恼。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许蚊帐。」

Tena kho pana samayena vesāliyaṃ paṇītānaṃ bhattānaṃ bhattapaṭipāṭi aṭṭhitā hoti. Bhikkhū paṇītāni bhojanāni bhuñjitvā abhisannakāyā honti bahvābādhā . Atha kho jīvako komārabhacco vesāliṃ agamāsi kenacideva karaṇīyena. Addasā kho jīvako komārabhacco bhikkhū abhisannakāye bahvābādhe. Disvāna yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho jīvako komārabhacco bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘etarahi, bhante, bhikkhū abhisannakāyā bahvābādhā. Sādhu, bhante, bhagavā bhikkhūnaṃ caṅkamañca jantāgharañca anujānātu. Evaṃ bhikkhū appābādhā bhavissantī’’ti. Atha kho bhagavā jīvakaṃ komārabhaccaṃ dhammiyā kathāya sandassesi samādapesi samuttejesi sampahaṃsesi. Atha kho jīvako komārabhacco bhagavatā dhammiyā kathāya sandassito samādapito samuttejito sampahaṃsito uṭṭhāyāsanā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā pakkāmi. Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, caṅkamañca jantāgharañcā’’ti.
尔时,在韦萨离有美食的食次第已设立。诸比库食用美食后,身体饱满,多病。那时,基瓦咖咖童子因某事来到韦萨离。基瓦咖咖童子看见诸比库身体饱满、多病。看见后,前往世尊处,抵达后,礼敬世尊,坐于一旁。坐于一旁的基瓦咖咖童子对世尊如此说:「尊者,现在诸比库身体饱满、多病。尊者,善哉,世尊允许诸比库经行及温室。如此诸比库将少病。」那时,世尊以法说开示、劝导、鼓励、使基瓦咖咖童子欢喜。那时,基瓦咖咖童子被世尊以法说开示、劝导、鼓励、使欢喜后,从座起立,礼敬世尊,作右绕后离去。那时,世尊以此因缘、以此事件,作法说后,告诉诸比库:「诸比库,我允许经行及温室。」

尔时,诸比库在不平的经行处经行。脚痛。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许作平坦。」经行处地基低。被水淹没……「诸比库,我允许作高地基。」堆积倒塌……「诸比库,我允许砌造三种堆积——砖堆积、石堆积、木堆积。」上去时受妨碍……「诸比库,我允许三种阶梯——砖阶梯、石阶梯、木阶梯。」上去时跌倒……「诸比库,我允许扶手。」

尔时,诸比库在露天经行,被寒冷和炎热所困扰。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许经行堂。」在经行堂草屑飘落……「诸比库,我允许编织后涂抹——白色、黑色、红土装饰、花环装饰、藤蔓装饰、摩咖拉牙饰、五层装饰、衣架、衣绳。」浴室地基低,被水淹没……「诸比库,我允许建造高地基。」堆积物倒塌……「诸比库,我允许砌筑三种堆积——砖堆、石堆、木堆。」上去的人受困扰……「诸比库,我允许三种阶梯——砖阶梯、石阶梯、木阶梯。」上去的人跌倒……「诸比库,我允许扶手栏杆。」浴室没有门……「诸比库,我允许门、门框、门臼、门楣、门闩、门钩、门孔、锁孔、钥匙孔、拉门绳。」浴室的门槛腐朽……「诸比库,我允许建造门槛石。」浴室没有烟道……「诸比库,我允许烟道。」

尔时,诸比库裸体向裸体者礼敬……裸体令裸体者礼敬,裸体为裸体者服务,裸体令裸体者服务,裸体给裸体者,裸体接受,裸体副食,裸体食用,裸体尝味,裸体饮用。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,裸体者不应向裸体者礼敬……不应向裸体者礼敬……裸体者不应令裸体者礼敬……不应令裸体者礼敬……裸体者不应为裸体者服务……裸体者不应令裸体者服务……裸体者不应给裸体者……裸体者不应接受……裸体者不应副食……裸体者不应食用……裸体者不应尝味……裸体者不应饮用。若饮用者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū jantāghare chamāya cīvaraṃ nikkhipanti. Cīvaraṃ paṃsukitaṃ hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, cīvaravaṃsaṃ cīvararajju’’nti. Deve vassante cīvaraṃ ovassati…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave , jantāgharasāla’’nti. Jantāgharasālā nīcavatthukā hoti, udakena otthariyyati…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, uccavatthukaṃ kātu’’nti. Cayo paripatati…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, cinituṃ…pe… ārohantā vihaññanti…pe… ārohantā paripatanti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ālambanabāha’’nti. Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū jantāgharepi udakepi parikammaṃ kātuṃ kukkuccāyanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, tisso paṭicchādiyo – jantāgharapaṭicchādiṃ, udakapaṭicchādiṃ, vatthapaṭicchādi’’nti.
尔时,诸比库对在浴室或水中服务感到疑虑。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许三种遮布——浴室遮布、水遮布、衣遮布。」

尔时,诸比库用藤蔓或腰带提水。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许提水绳。」手疼痛……「诸比库,我允许秤、钩、滑轮。」许多容器破损……「诸比库,我允许三种桶——铜桶、木桶、皮革片。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū ajjhokāse udakaṃ vāhentā sītenapi uṇhenapi kilamanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, udapānasāla’’nti. Udapānasālāya tiṇacuṇṇaṃ paripatati…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ogumphetvā ullittāvalittaṃ kātuṃ – setavaṇṇaṃ kāḷavaṇṇaṃ gerukaparikammaṃ mālākammaṃ latākammaṃ makaradantakaṃ pañcapaṭikaṃ cīvaravaṃsaṃ cīvararajju’’nti. Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu saṅghassa atthāya nillekhaṃ jantāgharaṃ kattukāmo hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, nillekhaṃ jantāghara’’nti.
尔时,某位比库想为僧团建造有涂料的暖房。他们将此事禀告世尊……「诸比库,我允许有涂料的暖房。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū cātumāsaṃ nisīdanena vippavasanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ…pe… ‘‘na, bhikkhave, cātumāsaṃ nisīdanena vippavasitabbaṃ. Yo vippavaseyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库用四个月的坐具离去。他们将此事禀告世尊……「诸比库,不应用四个月的坐具离去。若离去者,犯恶作。」

Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū pupphābhikiṇṇesu sayanesu sayanti. Manussā vihāracārikaṃ āhiṇḍantā passitvā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, pupphābhikiṇṇesu sayanesu sayitabbaṃ. Yo sayeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti .
尔时,六群比库睡在撒满花的卧具上。人们游览寺院时看见后,不满、批评、抱怨——「如同在家享受欲乐者。」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应睡在撒满花的卧具上。若睡者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena manussā gandhampi mālampi ādāya ārāmaṃ āgacchanti. Bhikkhū kukkuccāyantā na paṭiggaṇhanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, gandhaṃ gahetvā kavāṭe pañcaṅgulikaṃ dātuṃ, pupphaṃ gahetvā vihāre ekamantaṃ nikkhipitu’’nti.
尔时,人们拿着香和花来到寺院。诸比库疑虑而不接受。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许接受香后放在门上的五指处,接受花后放在寺院的一边。」
Tena kho pana samayena saṅghassa namatakaṃ uppannaṃ hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, namataka’’nti. Atha kho bhikkhūnaṃ etadahosi – ‘‘namatakaṃ adhiṭṭhātabbaṃ nu kho udāhu vikappetabba’’nti…pe… ‘‘na, bhikkhave, namatakaṃ adhiṭṭhātabbaṃ, na vikappetabba’’nti.
尔时,僧团获得了礼敬布。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许礼敬布。」尔时,诸比库生起此念:「礼敬布应当受持呢?还是应当分配?」……「诸比库,礼敬布不应受持,不应分配。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū āsittakūpadhāne bhuñjanti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ…pe… ‘‘na, bhikkhave, āsittakūpadhāne bhuñjitabbaṃ. Yo bhuñjeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti .
尔时,六群比库食用倚靠的高座。人们讥嫌、非难、责备:「如同在家欲乐享受者一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊……「诸比库,不应食用倚靠的高座。若食用者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu gilāno hoti. So bhuñjamāno na sakkoti hatthena pattaṃ sandhāretuṃ. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, maḷorika’’nti.
尔时,某位比库生病。他食用时不能以手持钵。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许钵架。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū ekabhājanepi bhuñjanti…pe… ekathālakepi pivanti, ekamañcepi tuvaṭṭenti, ekattharaṇāpi tuvaṭṭenti, ekapāvuraṇāpi tuvaṭṭenti, ekattharaṇapāvuraṇāpi tuvaṭṭenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, ekabhājane bhuñjitabbaṃ…pe… na ekathālake pātabbaṃ… na ekamañce tuvaṭṭitabbaṃ… na ekattharaṇā tuvaṭṭitabbaṃ… na ekapāvuraṇā tuvaṭṭitabbaṃ… na ekattharaṇapāvuraṇā tuvaṭṭitabbaṃ. Yo tuvaṭṭeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库在同一钵中食用……在同一杯中饮用,在同一床上躺卧,在同一敷具上躺卧,在同一覆盖物中躺卧,在同一敷具覆盖物中躺卧。人们讥嫌、非难、责备:「如同在家欲乐享受者一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应在同一钵中食用……不应在同一杯中饮用……不应在同一床上躺卧……不应在同一敷具上躺卧……不应在同一覆盖物中躺卧……不应在同一敷具覆盖物中躺卧。若躺卧者,犯恶作。」

Tena kho pana samayena vaḍḍho licchavī mettiyabhūmajakānaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ sahāyo hoti. Atha kho vaḍḍho licchavī yena mettiyabhūmajakā bhikkhū tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā mettiyabhūmajake bhikkhū etadavoca – ‘‘vandāmi ayyā’’ti. Evaṃ vutte mettiyabhūmajakā bhikkhū nālapiṃsu. Dutiyampi kho vaḍḍho licchavī mettiyabhūmajake bhikkhū etadavoca – ‘‘vandāmi ayyā’’ti. Dutiyampi kho mettiyabhūmajakā bhikkhū nālapiṃsu. Tatiyampi kho vaḍḍho licchavī mettiyabhūmajake bhikkhū etadavoca – ‘‘vandāmi ayyā’’ti. Tatiyampi kho mettiyabhūmajakā bhikkhū nālapiṃsu. ‘‘Kyāhaṃ ayyānaṃ aparajjhāmi, kissa maṃ ayyā nālapantī’’ti? ‘‘Tathā hi pana tvaṃ, āvuso vaḍḍha, amhe dabbena mallaputtena viheṭhiyamāne ajjhupekkhasī’’ti. ‘‘Kyāhaṃ ayyā karomī’’ti? ‘‘Sace kho tvaṃ, āvuso vaḍḍha, iccheyyāsi, ajjeva bhagavā āyasmantaṃ dabbaṃ mallaputtaṃ nāsāpeyyā’’ti. ‘‘Kyāhaṃ ayyā karomi, kiṃ mayā sakkā kātu’’nti? ‘‘Ehi tvaṃ, āvuso vaḍḍha, yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkama, upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ evaṃ vadehi – ‘idaṃ, bhante, nacchannaṃ nappatirūpaṃ. 尔时,瓦塔离车是麦地亚与普马迦诸比库的朋友。尔时,瓦塔离车前往麦地亚与普马迦诸比库处,抵达后对麦地亚与普马迦诸比库如此说:「我礼敬诸尊者。」如此说时,麦地亚与普马迦诸比库不回答。第二次,瓦塔离车对麦地亚与普马迦诸比库如此说:「我礼敬诸尊者。」第二次,麦地亚与普马迦诸比库不回答。第三次,瓦塔离车对麦地亚与普马迦诸比库如此说:「我礼敬诸尊者。」第三次,麦地亚与普马迦诸比库不回答。「我对诸尊者犯了什么过失?为何诸尊者不回答我?」「友瓦塔,因为你在我们被达巴马喇子欺凌时袖手旁观。」「诸尊者,我能做什么?」「友瓦塔,如果你愿意,今天世尊就能驱逐具寿达巴马喇子。」「诸尊者,我能做什么?我能做得到什么?」「来吧,友瓦塔,你前往世尊处,抵达后对世尊如此说:『尊者,这是不合适的、不适当的。尊者,那个方向本是无畏的、无灾难的、无危险的,现在那个方向变成有畏的、有灾难的、有危险的;从无风处变成有风;水好像燃烧了;我的妻子被尊者达巴马喇子污辱了。』」「是的,诸尊者。」瓦塔离车应诺麦地亚与普马迦诸比库后,前往世尊处,抵达后礼敬世尊,坐于一面。坐于一面的瓦塔离车对世尊如此说:「尊者,这是不合适的、不适当的。尊者,那个方向本是无畏的、无灾难的、无危险的,现在那个方向变成有畏的、有灾难的、有危险的;从无风处变成有风;水好像燃烧了;我的妻子被尊者达巴马喇子污辱了。」
Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe bhikkhusaṅghaṃ sannipātāpetvā āyasmantaṃ dabbaṃ mallaputtaṃ paṭipucchi – ‘‘sarasi tvaṃ, dabba, evarūpaṃ kattā yathāyaṃ vaḍḍho āhā’’ti? ‘‘Yathā maṃ, bhante, bhagavā jānātī’’ti. Dutiyampi kho bhagavā…pe… tatiyampi kho bhagavā āyasmantaṃ dabbaṃ mallaputtaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘sarasi tvaṃ, dabba, evarūpaṃ kattā yathāyaṃ vaḍḍho āhā’’ti? ‘‘Yathā maṃ, bhante, bhagavā jānātī’’ti. ‘‘Na kho, dabba, dabbā evaṃ nibbeṭhenti. Sace tayā kataṃ, katanti vadehi; sace akataṃ, akatanti vadehī’’ti. ‘‘Yato ahaṃ, bhante, jāto nābhijānāmi supinantenapi methunaṃ dhammaṃ paṭisevitā, pageva jāgaro’’ti. Atha kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘tena hi, bhikkhave, saṅgho vaḍḍhassa licchavissa pattaṃ nikkujjatu, asambhogaṃ saṅghena karotu.
尔时,世尊以此因缘、以此事件召集比库僧团,询问具寿达巴马喇子:「达巴,你记得做过如这位瓦塔所说的这样的事吗?」「尊者,如世尊所知道我的。」第二次,世尊……第三次,世尊对具寿达巴马喇子如此说:「达巴,你记得做过如这位瓦塔所说的这样的事吗?」「尊者,如世尊所知道我的。」「达巴,诸达巴不如此回避。如果你做了,就说做了;如果没做,就说没做。」「尊者,自从我出生以来,我不记得即使在梦中也行欲法,何况清醒时。」尔时,世尊告诸比库:「诸比库,那么,僧团应覆钵于离车瓦塔,令其与僧团不共住。
‘‘Aṭṭhahi, bhikkhave, aṅgehi samannāgatassa upāsakassa patto nikkujjitabbo – bhikkhūnaṃ alābhāya parisakkati, bhikkhūnaṃ anatthāya parisakkati, bhikkhūnaṃ avāsāya parisakkati, bhikkhū akkosati paribhāsati, bhikkhū bhikkhūhi bhedeti, buddhassa avaṇṇaṃ bhāsati, dhammassa avaṇṇaṃ bhāsati, saṅghassa avaṇṇaṃ bhāsati. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, imehi aṭṭhahaṅgehi samannāgatassa upāsakassa pattaṃ nikkujjituṃ. Evañca pana, bhikkhave, nikkujjitabbo. Byattena bhikkhunā paṭibalena saṅgho ñāpetabbo –
「诸比库,具足八支的近事男应被覆钵——为比库们的无利益而奔走,为比库们的无利益而奔走,为比库们的无住处而奔走,辱骂、诽谤比库,使比库与比库分裂,说佛的过失,说法的过失,说僧团的过失。诸比库,我允许对具足这八支的近事男覆钵。诸比库,应如此覆钵。有能力的比库应告知僧团——

‘‘Suṇātu me, bhante, saṅgho. Vaḍḍho licchavī āyasmantaṃ dabbaṃ mallaputtaṃ amūlikāya sīlavipattiyā anuddhaṃseti. Yadi saṅghassa pattakallaṃ, saṅgho vaḍḍhassa licchavissa pattaṃ nikkujjeyya, asambhogaṃ saṅghena kareyya. Esā ñatti.
「尊者,请僧团听我说。离车瓦塔以无根的戒失坏诽谤具寿达巴马喇子。若僧团认为适当时机,僧团应覆钵于离车瓦塔,令其与僧团不共住。这是表白。」
‘‘Suṇātu me, bhante, saṅgho. Vaḍḍho licchavī āyasmantaṃ dabbaṃ mallaputtaṃ amūlikāya sīlavipattiyā anuddhaṃseti. Saṅgho vaḍḍhassa licchavissa pattaṃ nikkujjati, asambhogaṃ saṅghena karoti . Yassāyasmato khamati vaḍḍhassa licchavissa pattassa nikkujjanā, asambhogaṃ saṅghena karaṇaṃ, so tuṇhassa; yassa nakkhamati, so bhāseyya.
「尊者,请僧团听我说。离车瓦德哈以无根的戒失坏诽谤具寿达巴马喇子。僧团覆瓦德哈离车的钵,令其与僧团不共住。若诸具寿认可覆瓦德哈离车的钵、令其与僧团不共住者,请默然;若不认可者,请说。」
‘‘Nikkujjito saṅghena vaḍḍhassa licchavissa patto, asambhogo saṅghena. Khamati saṅghassa, tasmā tuṇhī, evametaṃ dhārayāmī’’ti.
「僧团已覆瓦德哈离车的钵,与僧团不共住。僧团认可,故默然,我如是持。」
Atha kho āyasmā ānando pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya yena vaḍḍhassa licchavissa nivesanaṃ tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā vaḍḍhaṃ licchaviṃ etadavoca – ‘‘saṅghena te, āvuso vaḍḍha, patto nikkujjito. Asambhogosi saṅghenā’’ti. Atha kho vaḍḍho licchavī – saṅghena kira me patto nikkujjito, asambhogomhi kira saṅghenāti – tattheva mucchito papato. Atha kho vaḍḍhassa licchavissa mittāmaccā ñātisālohitā vaḍḍhaṃ licchaviṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘alaṃ, āvuso vaḍḍha, mā soci, mā paridevi. Mayaṃ bhagavantaṃ pasādessāma bhikkhusaṅghañcā’’ti.
时,具寿阿难陀于日前分时着衣、持钵衣,前往瓦德哈离车的住所,抵达后对瓦德哈离车如此说:「友瓦德哈,僧团已覆你的钵。你与僧团不共住。」时,瓦德哈离车「僧团已覆我的钵,我与僧团不共住」,当场昏倒在地。时,瓦德哈离车的朋友、同僚、亲戚、血亲对瓦德哈离车如此说:「够了,友瓦德哈,不要悲伤,不要哀泣。我们将令世尊欢喜,令比库僧团欢喜。」
Atha kho vaḍḍho licchavī saputtadāro samittāmacco sañātisālohito allavattho allakeso yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā bhagavato pādesu sirasā nipatitvā bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘accayo maṃ, bhante, accagamā yathābālaṃ yathāmūḷhaṃ yathāakusalaṃ, yohaṃ ayyaṃ dabbaṃ mallaputtaṃ amūlikāya sīlavipattiyā anuddhaṃsesiṃ. Tassa me, bhante, bhagavā accayaṃ accayato paṭiggaṇhātu āyatiṃ saṃvarāyā’’ti. ‘‘Taggha tvaṃ, āvuso vaḍḍha, accayo accagamā yathābālaṃ yathāmūḷhaṃ yathāakusalaṃ, yaṃ tvaṃ dabbaṃ mallaputtaṃ amūlikāya sīlavipattiyā anuddhaṃsesi. Yato ca kho tvaṃ, āvuso vaḍḍha, accayaṃ accayato disvā yathādhammaṃ paṭikarosi, taṃ te mayaṃ paṭiggaṇhāma. Vuḍḍhihesā, āvuso vaḍḍha, ariyassa vinaye yo accayaṃ accayato disvā yathādhammaṃ paṭikaroti, āyatiṃ saṃvaraṃ āpajjatī’’ti. Atha kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘tena hi, bhikkhave, saṅgho vaḍḍhassa licchavissa pattaṃ ukkujjatu, sambhogaṃ saṅghena karotu.
时,瓦德哈离车与妻儿、朋友、同僚、亲戚、血亲,湿衣、湿发,前往世尊处,抵达后以头礼世尊足,对世尊如此说:「尊者,过失征服了我,如愚者、如痴者、如不善者,我以无根的戒失坏诽谤尊者达巴马喇子。尊者,请世尊接受我的过失为过失,为了未来的防护。」「友瓦德哈,确实过失征服了你,如愚者、如痴者、如不善者,你以无根的戒失坏诽谤达巴马喇子。友瓦德哈,因为你见过失为过失而如法忏悔,我们接受你。友瓦德哈,这是圣者之律中的增长:见过失为过失而如法忏悔,未来达到防护。」时,世尊告诸比库:「诸比库,那么,僧团应覆起瓦德哈离车的钵,令其与僧团共住。」
‘‘Aṭṭhahi, bhikkhave, aṅgehi samannāgatassa upāsakassa patto ukkujjitabbo – na bhikkhūnaṃ alābhāya parisakkati, na bhikkhūnaṃ anatthāya parisakkati, na bhikkhūnaṃ avāsāya parisakkati, na bhikkhū akkosati paribhāsati, na bhikkhū bhikkhūhi bhedeti, na buddhassa avaṇṇaṃ bhāsati, na dhammassa avaṇṇaṃ bhāsati, na saṅghassa avaṇṇaṃ bhāsati. Anujānāmi , bhikkhave, imehi aṭṭhahaṅgehi samannāgatassa upāsakassa pattaṃ ukkujjituṃ. Evañca pana, bhikkhave, ukkujjitabbo. Tena, bhikkhave, vaḍḍhena licchavinā saṅghaṃ upasaṅkamitvā ekaṃsaṃ uttarāsaṅgaṃ karitvā bhikkhūnaṃ pāde vanditvā ukkuṭikaṃ nisīditvā añjaliṃ paggahetvā evamassa vacanīyo – ‘saṅghena me, bhante, patto nikkujjito, asambhogomhi saṅghena. Sohaṃ, bhante, sammā vattāmi, lomaṃ pātemi, netthāraṃ vattāmi, saṅghaṃ pattukkujjanaṃ yācāmī’ti. Dutiyampi yācitabbo. Tatiyampi yācitabbo. Byattena bhikkhunā paṭibalena saṅgho ñāpetabbo –
「诸比库,具足八支的近事男,其钵应被覆起——不为诸比库的无利益而努力,不为诸比库的无义利而努力,不为诸比库的无住所而努力,不辱骂、诽谤诸比库,不令诸比库与诸比库分裂,不说佛的非善,不说法的非善,不说僧团的非善。诸比库,我允许覆起具足此八支的近事男的钵。诸比库,应如此覆起。诸比库,瓦德哈离车应前往僧团,偏袒一肩上衣,礼诸比库足,蹲踞,合掌,应如此说:『尊者,僧团已覆我的钵,我与僧团不共住。尊者,我正行,我落发,我行引导者,我乞求僧团覆起钵。』应第二次乞求。应第三次乞求。有能力的比库应告知僧团——」

‘‘Suṇātu me, bhante, saṅgho. Saṅghena vaḍḍhassa licchavissa patto nikkujjito, asambhogo saṅghena. So sammā vattati, lomaṃ pāteti, netthāraṃ vattati, saṅghaṃ pattukkujjanaṃ yācati. Yadi saṅghassa pattakallaṃ, saṅgho vaḍḍhassa licchavissa pattaṃ ukkujjeyya, sambhogaṃ saṅghena kareyya. Esā ñatti.
「尊者,请僧团听我说。僧团已覆瓦德哈离车的钵,与僧团不共住。他正行,他落发,他行引导者,他乞求僧团覆起钵。若僧团适时,僧团应覆起瓦德哈离车的钵,令其与僧团共住。这是表白。」

‘‘Ukkujjito saṅghena vaḍḍhassa licchavissa patto, sambhogo saṅghena. Khamati saṅghassa, tasmā tuṇhī, evametaṃ dhārayāmī’’ti.

Atha kho bhagavā vesāliyaṃ yathābhirantaṃ viharitvā yena bhaggā tena cārikaṃ pakkāmi. Anupubbena cārikaṃ caramāno yena bhaggā tadavasari. Tatra sudaṃ bhagavā bhaggesu viharati susumāragire bhesakaḷāvane migadāye. Tena kho pana samayena bodhissa rājakumārassa kokanado nāma pāsādo acirakārito hoti, anajjhāvuttho samaṇena vā brāhmaṇena vā kenaci vā manussabhūtena. Atha kho bodhi rājakumāro sañjikāputtaṃ māṇavaṃ āmantesi – ‘‘ehi tvaṃ, samma sañcikāputta, yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkama, upasaṅkamitvā mama vacanena bhagavato pāde sirasā vanda; appābādhaṃ appātaṅkaṃ lahuṭṭhānaṃ balaṃ phāsuvihāraṃ puccha – ‘bodhi, bhante, rājakumāro bhagavato pāde sirasā vandati, appābādhaṃ appātaṅkaṃ lahuṭṭhānaṃ balaṃ phāsuvihāraṃ pucchatī’ti. Evañca vadehi – ‘adhivāsetu kira, bhante , bhagavā bodhissa rājakumārassa svātanāya bhattaṃ saddhiṃ bhikkhusaṅghenā’’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ bho’’ti kho sañcikāputto māṇavo bodhissa rājakumārassa paṭissutvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā bhagavatā saddhiṃ sammodi, sammodanīyaṃ kathaṃ sāraṇīyaṃ vītisāretvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho sañcikāputto māṇavo bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘bodhi kho rājakumāro bhoto gotamassa pāde sirasā vandati, appābādhaṃ appātaṅkaṃ lahuṭṭhānaṃ balaṃ phāsuvihāraṃ pucchati. Evañca vadeti – ‘adhivāsetu kira bhavaṃ gotamo bodhissa rājakumārassa svātanāya bhattaṃ saddhiṃ bhikkhusaṅghenā’’’ti. Adhivāsesi bhagavā tuṇhībhāvena. Atha kho sañcikāputto māṇavo bhagavato adhivāsanaṃ viditvā uṭṭhāyāsanā yena bodhi rājakumāro tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā bodhiṃ rājakumāraṃ etadavoca – ‘‘avocumha kho mayaṃ bhoto vacanena taṃ bhavantaṃ gotamaṃ – ‘bodhi kho rājakumāro bhoto gotamassa pāde sirasā vandati, appābādhaṃ appātaṅkaṃ lahuṭṭhānaṃ balaṃ phāsuvihāraṃ pucchati. Evañca vadeti – adhivāsetu kira bhavaṃ gotamo bodhissa rājakumārassa svātanāya bhattaṃ saddhiṃ bhikkhusaṅghenā’ti. Adhivutthañca pana samaṇena gotamenā’’ti.
那时,世尊在韦萨离随意住已,向跋伽出发游行。渐次游行,抵达跋伽。在那里,世尊住在跋伽的苏苏马拉山,贝萨咖喇林,鹿野苑。尔时,菩提王子有一座名为「果咖那达」的宫殿,刚建成不久,尚未被沙门、婆罗门或任何人住过。那时,菩提王子对桑吉咖子学童说:「来吧,桑吉咖子贤友,你去世尊那里,到了之后,以我的名义以头礼敬世尊足,问讯少病、少恼、轻安、有力、安乐住:『尊者,菩提王子以头礼敬世尊足,问讯少病、少恼、轻安、有力、安乐住。』并如此说:『尊者,愿世尊明日与比库僧伽一起接受菩提王子的食物供养。』」桑吉咖子学童回答菩提王子:「是的,尊者。」之后去世尊那里,到了之后,与世尊互相问候,交换了值得忆念的友好话语后,在一旁坐下。在一旁坐下的桑吉咖子学童对世尊如此说:「菩提王子以头礼敬果德玛尊者足,问讯少病、少恼、轻安、有力、安乐住。并如此说:『愿果德玛尊者明日与比库僧伽一起接受菩提王子的食物供养。』」世尊以沉默接受了。那时,桑吉咖子学童知道世尊已接受,从座起立,去菩提王子那里,到了之后,对菩提王子如此说:「我们以尊者的名义对那位果德玛尊者如此说:『菩提王子以头礼敬果德玛尊者足,问讯少病、少恼、轻安、有力、安乐住。并如此说:愿果德玛尊者明日与比库僧伽一起接受菩提王子的食物供养。』沙门果德玛已接受了。」
Atha kho bodhi rājakumāro tassā rattiyā accayena paṇītaṃ khādanīyaṃ bhojanīyaṃ paṭiyādāpetvā, kokanadañca pāsādaṃ odātehi dussehi santharāpetvā yāva pacchimasopānakaḷevarā, sañcikāputtaṃ māṇavaṃ āmantesi – ‘‘ehi tvaṃ, samma sañcikāputta, yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkama, upasaṅkamitvā bhagavato kālaṃ ārocehi – ‘kālo, bhante niṭṭhitaṃ bhatta’’’nti. ‘‘Evaṃ bho’’ti kho sañcikāputto māṇavo bodhissa rājakumārassa paṭissutvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā bhagavato kālaṃ ārocesi – ‘‘kālo, bho gotama, niṭṭhitaṃ bhatta’’nti.
那时,菩提王子在那夜过后,准备了上等的副食、主食,并以白布铺设果咖那达宫殿,直到最后的阶梯,对桑吉咖子学童说:「来吧,桑吉咖子贤友,你去世尊那里,到了之后,向世尊报时:『尊者,时间到了,食物已备办。』」桑吉咖子学童回答菩提王子:「是的,尊者。」之后去世尊那里,到了之后,向世尊报时:「果德玛尊者,时间到了,食物已备办。」
Atha kho bhagavā pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya yena bodhissa rājakumārassa nivesanaṃ tenupasaṅkami. Tena kho pana samayena bodhi rājakumāro bahidvārakoṭṭhake ṭhito hoti, bhagavantaṃ āgamayamāno. Addasā kho bodhi rājakumāro bhagavantaṃ dūratova āgacchantaṃ. Disvāna tato paccuggantvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā purekkhatvā yena kokanado pāsādo tenupasaṅkami. Atha kho bhagavā pacchimasopānakaḷevaraṃ nissāya aṭṭhāsi. Atha kho bodhi rājakumāro bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘akkamatu, bhante, bhagavā dussāni, akkamatu sugato dussāni, yaṃ mama assa dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāyā’’ti. Evaṃ vutte bhagavā tuṇhī ahosi. Dutiyampi kho…pe… tatiyampi kho bodhi rājakumāro bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘akkamatu, bhante, bhagavā dussāni, akkamatu sugato dussāni, yaṃ mama assa dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāyā’’ti. Atha kho bhagavā āyasmantaṃ ānandaṃ apalokesi. Atha kho āyasmā ānando bodhiṃ rājakumāraṃ etadavoca – ‘‘saṃharantu, rājakumāra, dussāni. Na bhagavā celapaṭikaṃ akkamissati pacchimaṃ janataṃ tathāgato anukampatī’’ti.
那时,世尊在上午时分着衣、持钵衣,去菩提王子的住处。尔时,菩提王子站在外门厅,等待世尊。菩提王子从远处看见世尊走来,看见后,从那里前去迎接,礼敬世尊后,在前引导,去果咖那达宫殿。那时,世尊站在最后的阶梯旁。那时,菩提王子对世尊如此说:「尊者,愿世尊踏上布,愿善逝踏上布,这将使我长久利益安乐。」如此说时,世尊沉默。第二次...第三次,菩提王子对世尊如此说:「尊者,愿世尊踏上布,愿善逝踏上布,这将使我长久利益安乐。」那时,世尊看向具寿阿难。那时,具寿阿难对菩提王子如此说:「王子,请收起布。世尊不会踏上布垫,如来怜愍后代的人们。」
Atha kho bodhi rājakumāro dussāni saṃharāpetvā uparikokanade pāsāde āsanaṃ paññapesi. Atha kho bhagavā kokanadaṃ pāsādaṃ abhiruhitvā paññatte āsane nisīdi saddhiṃ bhikkhusaṅghena. Atha kho bodhi rājakumāro buddhappamukhaṃ bhikkhusaṅghaṃ paṇītena khādanīyena bhojanīyena sahatthā santappetvā sampavāretvā, bhagavantaṃ bhuttāviṃ onītapattapāṇiṃ, ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinnaṃ kho bodhiṃ rājakumāraṃ bhagavā dhammiyā kathāya sandassetvā samādapetvā samuttejetvā sampahaṃsetvā uṭṭhāyāsanā pakkāmi. Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘na, bhikkhave, celapaṭikā akkamitabbā. Yo akkameyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
那时,菩提王子令人收起布后,在果咖那达宫殿上层铺设座位。那时,世尊登上果咖那达宫殿,与比库僧伽一起坐在所设的座位上。那时,菩提王子亲手以上等的副食、主食供养以佛为首的比库僧伽,使之满足。世尊食毕,手离钵时,他在一旁坐下。在一旁坐下的菩提王子,世尊以法语开示、劝导、鼓励、使之欢喜后,从座起立离去。那时,世尊以此因缘、以此事件,作法语后,告诉比库们:「诸比库,不应踏上布垫。若踏上,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññatarā itthī apagatagabbhā bhikkhū nimantetvā dussaṃ paññapetvā etadavoca – ‘‘akkamatha, bhante , dussa’’nti. Bhikkhū kukkuccāyantā na akkamanti. ‘‘Akkamatha, bhante, dussaṃ maṅgalatthāyā’’ti. Bhikkhū kukkuccāyantā na akkamiṃsu. Atha kho sā itthī ujjhāyati khiyyati vipāceti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma ayyā maṅgalatthāya yāciyamānā celappaṭikaṃ na akkamissantī’’ti! Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū tassā itthiyā ujjhāyantiyā khiyyantiyā vipācentiyā. Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Gihī, bhikkhave, maṅgalikā. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, gihīnaṃ maṅgalatthāya yāciyamānena celappaṭikaṃ akkamitu’’nti.
尔时,有一位刚分娩的妇女邀请比库们,铺设布后,如此说:「尊者们,请踏上布。」比库们因疑虑而不踏上。「尊者们,为了吉祥,请踏上布。」比库们因疑虑而不踏上。那时,那位妇女不满、呵责、抱怨:「为何诸大德被请求为了吉祥而不踏上布垫呢?」比库们听到那位妇女不满、呵责、抱怨。那时,那些比库们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,在家人喜好吉祥。诸比库,我允许被在家人为了吉祥而请求时,踏上布垫。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū dhotapādakaṃ akkamituṃ kukkuccāyanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, dhotapādakaṃ akkamitu’’nti.
尔时,比库们对踏上洗足布感到疑虑。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许踏上洗足布。」

Paṭiggahesi bhagavā ghaṭakañca sammajjaniñca. Na bhagavā katakaṃ paṭiggahesi. Atha kho bhagavā visākhaṃ migāramātaraṃ dhammiyā kathāya sandassesi samādapesi samuttejesi sampahaṃsesi. Atha kho visākhā migāramātā bhagavatā dhammiyā kathāya sandassitā samādapitā samuttejitā sampahaṃsitā uṭṭhāyāsanā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā pakkāmi.
那时,世尊在跋伽随意住已,向沙瓦提出发游行。渐次游行,抵达沙瓦提。在那里,世尊住在沙瓦提的揭德林,阿那他宾地咖的园林。那时,韦萨咖弥伽喇母拿着水瓶、刮刀和扫帚,去世尊那里,到了之后,礼敬世尊,在一旁坐下。在一旁坐下的韦萨咖弥伽喇母对世尊如此说:「尊者,愿世尊接受我的水瓶、刮刀和扫帚,这将使我长久利益安乐。」世尊接受了水瓶和扫帚。世尊不接受刮刀。那时,世尊以法语对韦萨咖弥伽喇母开示、劝导、鼓励、使之欢喜。那时,韦萨咖弥伽喇母被世尊以法语开示、劝导、鼓励、使之欢喜后,从座起立,礼敬世尊,作右绕后离去。
Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ghaṭakañca sammajjaniñca. Na, bhikkhave, katakaṃ paribhuñjitabbaṃ. Yo paribhuñjeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, tisso pādaghaṃsaniyo – sakkharaṃ, kathalaṃ, samuddapheṇaka’’nti.
那时,世尊以此因缘、以此事件,作法语后,告诉比库们:「诸比库,我允许水瓶和扫帚。诸比库,不应使用刮刀。若使用,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许三种足擦:碎石、瓦片、海泡石。」
Atha kho visākhā migāramātā vidhūpanañca tālavaṇṭañca ādāya yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinnā kho visākhā migāramātā bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘paṭiggaṇhātu me, bhante, bhagavā vidhūpanañca tālavaṇṭañca, yaṃ mama assa dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāyā’’ti. Paṭiggahesi bhagavā vidhūpanañca tālavaṇṭañca.
那时,弥伽罗母韦沙卡拿着熏香和扇子,去到世尊那里。到了之后,礼敬世尊,坐在一边。坐在一边的弥伽罗母韦沙卡对世尊如此说:「尊者!请世尊接受我的熏香和扇子,这将使我长夜利益安乐。」世尊接受了熏香和扇子。
Atha kho bhagavā visākhaṃ migāramātaraṃ dhammiyā kathāya sandassesi samādapesi samuttejesi sampahaṃsesi…pe… padakkhiṇaṃ katvā pakkāmi. Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, vidhūpanañca tālavaṇṭañcā’’ti.
那时,世尊以法说开示、劝导、鼓励、使弥伽罗母韦沙卡欢喜……(中略)……作右绕后离去。那时,世尊以此因缘、以此事缘,作法说后,告诉诸比库:「诸比库!我允许熏香和扇子。」
Tena kho pana samayena saṅghassa makasabījanī uppannā hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, makasabījani’’nti. Cāmaribījanī uppannā hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, cāmaribījanī dhāretabbā. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, tisso bījaniyo – vākamayaṃ, usīramayaṃ, morapiñchamaya’’nti.
那时,僧团得到了蚊拂。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库!我允许蚊拂。」得到了牦牛尾拂。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库!不应持牦牛尾拂。若持者,犯恶作。诸比库!我允许三种拂:竹制的、香根草制的、孔雀羽制的。」

Tena kho pana samayena saṅghassa chattaṃ uppannaṃ hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, chatta’’nti.
那时,僧团得到了伞。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库!我允许伞。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū chattappaggahitā āhiṇḍanti. Tena kho pana samayena aññataro upāsako sambahulehi ājīvakasāvakehi saddhiṃ uyyānaṃ agamāsi. Addasāsuṃ kho te ājīvakasāvakā chabbaggiye bhikkhū dūratova chattappaggahite āgacchante. Disvāna taṃ upāsakaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘ete kho, ayyā , tumhākaṃ bhadantā chattappaggahitā āgacchanti, seyyathāpi gaṇakamahāmattā’’ti. ‘‘Nāyyā ete bhikkhū, paribbājakā’’ti. ‘Bhikkhū na bhikkhū’ti abbhutaṃ akaṃsu. Atha kho so upāsako upagate sañjānitvā ujjhāyati khiyyati vipāceti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma bhadantā chattappaggahitā āhiṇḍissantī’’ti! Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū tassa upāsakassa ujjhāyantassa khiyyantassa vipācentassa. Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Saccaṃ kira, bhikkhave…pe… ‘‘saccaṃ bhagavā’’ti…pe… vigarahitvā…pe… dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘na, bhikkhave, chattaṃ dhāretabbaṃ. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
那时,六群比库撑着伞到处游行。那时,某位近事男与众多邪命外道弟子一起去到园林。那些邪命外道弟子从远处看见六群比库撑着伞走来。看见后,对那位近事男如此说:「尊者!你们的大德撑着伞走来,就像算师大臣一样。」「尊者们!这些不是比库,是游方者。」他们对「是比库还是不是比库」感到惊讶。那时,那位近事男在他们到来时认出后,不满、呵责、抱怨:「大德们怎么可以撑着伞到处游行呢!」诸比库听到那位近事男不满、呵责、抱怨。那时,那些比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库!真的吗……(中略)……」「真的,世尊。」……(中略)……呵责后……(中略)……作法说后,告诉诸比库:「诸比库!不应持伞。若持者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu gilāno hoti. Tassa bhikkhuno vinā chattaṃ na phāsu hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, gilānassa chattaṃ dhāretu’’nti.
那时,某位比库病了。那位比库没有伞就不舒适。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库!我允许病者持伞。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū – gilānasseva bhagavatā chattaṃ anuññātaṃ no agilānassāti – ārāme ārāmūpacāre chattaṃ dhāretuṃ kukkuccāyanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, agilānenapi ārāme ārāmūpacāre chattaṃ dhāretu’’nti.
那时,诸比库「世尊只允许病者持伞,不是非病者」,在寺院、寺院附近持伞而疑虑。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库!我允许非病者也在寺院、寺院附近持伞。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu sikkāya pattaṃ uṭṭitvā daṇḍe ālaggitvā vikāle aññatarena gāmadvārena atikkamati. Manussā – ‘esayyo coro gacchati, asissa vijjotalatī’ti anupatitvā gahetvā sañjānitvā muñciṃsu. Atha kho so bhikkhu ārāmaṃ gantvā bhikkhūnaṃ etamatthaṃ ārocesi. ‘‘Kiṃ pana tvaṃ, āvuso, daṇḍasikkaṃ dhāresī’’ti? ‘‘Evamāvuso’’ti. Ye te bhikkhū appicchā…pe… te ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma bhikkhu daṇḍasikkaṃ dhāressasī’’ti! Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ…pe… ‘‘saccaṃ bhagavā’’ti…pe… vigarahitvā…pe… dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘na, bhikkhave, daṇḍasikkā dhāretabbā. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
那时,某位比库为了学习,将钵挂在杖上,在非时从某个村门经过。人们「这位尊者是盗贼在走,这是他的闪电火把」,追赶后抓住,认出后释放了。那时,那位比库去到寺院,将此事告诉诸比库。「贤友!你为何持杖钵呢?」「是的,贤友。」那些少欲的诸比库……(中略)……不满、呵责、抱怨:「比库怎么可以持杖钵呢!」那时,那些比库将此事禀告世尊……(中略)……「真的,世尊。」……(中略)……呵责后……(中略)……作法说后,告诉诸比库:「诸比库!不应持杖钵。若持者,犯恶作。」

尔时,某位比库病了,没有手杖就不能行走。他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许给予病比库手杖许可。诸比库,应如此给予:那位病比库应前往僧团,偏袒上衣,礼敬诸长老比库之足,蹲踞,合掌,应如此说——『诸尊,我病了;没有手杖就不能行走。诸尊,我向僧团乞求手杖许可』。应第二次乞求。应第三次乞求。应由一位精明能干的比库告知僧团——」

‘‘Dinnā saṅghena itthannāmassa bhikkhuno daṇḍasammuti. Khamati saṅghassa, tasmā tuṇhī, evametaṃ dhārayāmī’’ti.
「僧团已给予名叫某某的比库手杖许可。僧团认可,因此默然,我如此持。」

Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu romanthako hoti. So romanthitvā romanthitvā ajjhoharati. Bhikkhū ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘vikālāyaṃ bhikkhu bhojanaṃ bhuñjatī’’ti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Eso, bhikkhave, bhikkhu aciraṃgoyoniyā cuto. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, romanthakassa romanthanaṃ. Na ca, bhikkhave, bahimukhadvāraṃ nīharitvā ajjhoharitabbaṃ. Yo ajjhohareyya, yathādhammo kāretabbo’’ti.
尔时,某位比库是反刍者。他反刍后反刍后吞咽。诸比库非难、呵责、传播——「此比库非时食」。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,此比库从牛胎不久堕生。诸比库,我允许反刍者反刍。诸比库,不应取出口外后吞咽。若吞咽者,应如法处置」。
Tena kho pana samayena aññatarassa pūgassa saṅghabhattaṃ hoti. Bhattagge bahusitthāni pakiriyiṃsu . Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma samaṇā sakyaputtiyā odane diyyamāne na sakkaccaṃ paṭiggahessanti, ekamekaṃ sitthaṃ kammasatena niṭṭhāyatī’’ti! Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū tesaṃ manussānaṃ ujjhāyantānaṃ khiyyantānaṃ vipācentānaṃ. Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, yaṃ diyyamānaṃ patati, taṃ sāmaṃ gahetvā paribhuñjituṃ. Pariccattaṃ taṃ, bhikkhave, dāyakehī’’ti.
尔时,某一群体有僧食。在食堂洒落许多饭粒。人们非难、呵责、传播——「沙门释迦子如何在给予饭食时不恭敬地接受,每一粒饭要用百倍的工作才完成」!诸比库听闻那些人们非难、呵责、传播。于是诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许自己拾取正在给予时掉落的而受用。诸比库,那是施者所舍弃的」。

Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu dīghehi nakhehi piṇḍāya carati. Aññatarā itthī passitvā taṃ bhikkhuṃ etadavoca – ‘‘ehi, bhante, methunaṃ dhammaṃ paṭisevā’’ti. ‘‘Alaṃ, bhagini, netaṃ kappatī’’ti. ‘‘Sace kho tvaṃ, bhante, nappaṭisevissasi, idānāhaṃ attano nakhehi gattāni vilikhitvā kuppaṃ karissāmi – ayaṃ maṃ bhikkhu vippakarotī’’ti. ‘‘Pajānāhi tvaṃ, bhaginī’’ti. Atha kho sā itthī attano nakhehi gattāni vilikhitvā kuppaṃ akāsi – ayaṃ maṃ bhikkhu vippakarotīti. Manussā upadhāvitvā taṃ bhikkhuṃ aggahesuṃ. Addasāsuṃ kho te manussā tassā itthiyā nakhe chavimpi lohitampi. Disvāna – imissāyeva itthiyā idaṃ kammaṃ, akārako bhikkhūti – taṃ bhikkhuṃ muñciṃsu. Atha kho so bhikkhu ārāmaṃ gantvā bhikkhūnaṃ etamatthaṃ ārocesi. ‘‘Kiṃ pana tvaṃ, āvuso, dīghe nakhe dhāresī’’ti? ‘‘Evamāvuso’’ti. 尔时,某位比库以长指甲行乞食。某位妇女见后对那位比库如此说——「尊者,来,行欲法」。「够了,姊妹,此不适宜」。「尊者,若你不行,现在我将以自己的指甲抓伤身体而喧嚷——此比库侵犯我」。「姊妹,你自知」。于是那位妇女以自己的指甲抓伤身体而喧嚷——此比库侵犯我。人们跑来抓住那位比库。那些人们看见那位妇女的指甲有皮也有血。见后——「此是这位妇女自己的行为,比库无罪」——释放了那位比库。于是那位比库前往精舍,向诸比库报告此事。「贤友,你为何蓄长指甲」?「是的,贤友」。那些少欲诸比库……非难、呵责、传播——「比库如何蓄长指甲」!于是诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应蓄长指甲。若蓄者,犯恶作」。
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū nakhenapi nakhaṃ chindanti, mukhenapi nakhaṃ chindanti, kuṭṭepi ghaṃsanti. Aṅguliyo dukkhā honti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, nakhacchedana’’nti. Salohitaṃ nakhaṃ chindanti. Aṅguliyo dukkhā honti…pe… ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, maṃsappamāṇena nakhaṃ chinditu’’nti.
尔时,诸比库以指甲剪指甲,以口咬指甲,在墙上磨。手指疼痛。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许指甲刀」。剪带血的指甲。手指疼痛……「诸比库,我允许剪至肉的程度」。
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū vīsatimaṭṭhaṃ kārāpenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na , bhikkhave, vīsatimaṭṭhaṃ kārāpetabbaṃ. Yo kārāpeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, malamattaṃ apakaḍḍhitu’’nti.
尔时,六群比库令人做按摩。人们非难、呵责、传播:「如同在家欲乐享受者一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应令人做按摩。若令人做者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许为去除污垢而按摩。」

Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhūnaṃ kesā dīghā honti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Ussahanti pana, bhikkhave, bhikkhū aññamaññaṃ kese oropetu’’nti? ‘‘Ussahanti bhagavā’’ti . Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe bhikkhusaṅghaṃ sannipātāpetvā…pe… bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, khuraṃ khurasilaṃ khurasipāṭikaṃ namatakaṃ sabbaṃ khurabhaṇḍa’’nti.
尔时,诸比库的头发长了。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,诸比库能够互相剃头发吗?」「能够,世尊。」于是世尊以此因缘、以此事缘,集合比库僧团后……乃至……告诸比库:「诸比库,我允许剃刀、磨刀石、磨刀板、剃刀盒、一切剃刀用具。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū massuṃ kappāpenti…pe… massuṃ vaḍḍhāpenti… golomikaṃ kārāpenti… caturassakaṃ kārāpenti… parimukhaṃ kārāpenti… aḍḍhadukaṃ kārāpenti… dāṭhikaṃ ṭhapenti… sambādhe lomaṃ saṃharāpenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave , massu kappāpetabbaṃ…pe… na massu vaḍḍhāpetabbaṃ… na golomikaṃ kārāpetabbaṃ… na caturassakaṃ kārāpetabbaṃ… na parimukhaṃ kārāpetabbaṃ… na aḍḍhadukaṃ kārāpetabbaṃ… na dāṭhikā ṭhapetabbā… na sambādhe lomaṃ saṃharāpetabbaṃ. Yo saṃharāpeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库修整胡须……乃至……蓄长胡须……令做牛舌形……令做四方形……令做环口形……令做半月形……留小胡须……令拔除密集的毛。人们非难、呵责、传播:「如同在家欲乐享受者一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应修整胡须……乃至……不应蓄长胡须……不应令做牛舌形……不应令做四方形……不应令做环口形……不应令做半月形……不应留小胡须……不应令拔除密集的毛。若令拔除者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññatarassa bhikkhuno sambādhe vaṇo hoti. Bhesajjaṃ na santiṭṭhati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ . ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ābādhappaccayā sambādhe lomaṃ saṃharāpetu’’nti.
尔时,某位比库在密集处有伤口。药不能停留。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许因病缘而令拔除密集处的毛。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū kattarikāya kese chedāpenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, kattarikāya kesā chedāpetabbā. Yo chedāpeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库用剪刀令人剪头发。人们非难、呵责、传播:「如同在家欲乐享受者一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应用剪刀令人剪头发。若令人剪者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññatarassa bhikkhuno sīse vaṇo hoti, na sakkoti khurena kese oropetuṃ. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ābādhappaccayā kattarikāya kese chedāpetu’’nti.
尔时,某位比库头上有伤口,不能用剃刀剃头发。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许因病缘而用剪刀令人剪头发。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū dīghāni nāsikālomāni dhārenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi pisācillikāti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, dīghaṃ nāsikālomaṃ dhāretabbaṃ. Yo dhāreyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,诸比库留长鼻毛。人们非难、呵责、传播:「如同饿鬼女一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应留长鼻毛。若留者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū sakkharikāyapi madhusitthakenapi nāsikālomaṃ gāhāpenti. Nāsikā dukkhā honti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, saṇḍāsa’’nti.
尔时,诸比库用碎石或蜜蜡令人拔鼻毛。鼻子疼痛。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许镊子。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū palitaṃ gāhāpenti . Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, palitaṃ gāhāpetabbaṃ. Yo gāhāpeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库令人拔白发。人们非难、批评、传播:「如在家欲乐享受者一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应令人拔白发。若令拔者,犯恶作。」

尔时,某位比库的耳朵被耳垢堵塞。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许耳垢清除器。」

尔时,六群比库持用各种耳垢清除器——金制的、银制的。人们非难、批评、传播:「如在家欲乐享受者一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应持用各种耳垢清除器。若持用者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许骨制的、牙制的、角制的、芦苇制的、竹制的、木制的、树脂制的、果实制的、铜制的、贝壳制的。」

Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū bahuṃ lohabhaṇḍaṃ kaṃsabhaṇḍaṃ sannicayaṃ karonti. Manussā vihāracārikaṃ āhiṇḍantā passitvā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma samaṇā sakyaputtiyā bahuṃ lohabhaṇḍaṃ kaṃsabhaṇḍaṃ sannicayaṃ karissanti , seyyathāpi kaṃsapattharikā’’ti! Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, bahuṃ lohabhaṇḍaṃ kaṃsabhaṇḍaṃ sannicayo kātabbo. Yo kareyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库积聚许多铜器、青铜器。人们在寺院巡视时看见后非难、批评、传播:「沙门释迦子怎能积聚许多铜器、青铜器,如青铜商人一般!」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应积聚许多铜器、青铜器。若积聚者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū añjanimpi añjanisalākampi kaṇṇamalaharaṇimpi bandhanamattampi kukkuccāyanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, añjaniṃ añjanisalākaṃ kaṇṇamalaharaṇiṃ bandhanamatta’’nti.
尔时,诸比库对眼药、眼药棒、耳垢清除器、绷带感到疑虑。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许眼药、眼药棒、耳垢清除器、绷带。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū saṅghāṭipallatthikāya nisīdanti. Saṅghāṭiyā pattā lujjanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, saṅghāṭipallatthikāya nisīditabbaṃ. Yo nisīdeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库以桑喀帝为坐垫而坐。桑喀帝的边缘破损。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应以桑喀帝为坐垫而坐。若坐者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu gilāno hoti. Tassa vinā āyogena na phāsu hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, āyoga’’nti. Atha kho bhikkhūnaṃ etadahosi – ‘‘kathaṃ nu kho āyogo kātabbo’’ti? Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, tantakaṃ vemaṃ kavaṭaṃ salākaṃ sabbaṃ tantabhaṇḍaka’’nti.
尔时,某位比库生病。他没有腰带就不舒适。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许腰带。」于是诸比库生起此念:「腰带应如何制作?」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许编织物、织物、门闩、木条、一切编织用品。」

Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu akāyabandhano gāmaṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Tassa rathikāya antaravāsako pabhassittha. Manussā ukkuṭṭhimakaṃsu . So bhikkhu maṅku ahosi . Atha kho so bhikkhu ārāmaṃ gantvā bhikkhūnaṃ etamatthaṃ ārocesi. Bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, akāyabandhanena gāmo pavisitabbo. Yo paviseyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, kāyabandhana’’nti.
尔时,某位比库未系腰带入村乞食。他的内衣在街道上滑落。人们发出嘲笑声。那位比库感到羞愧。于是那位比库前往寺院,将此事告知诸比库。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应未系腰带入村。若入者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许腰带。」

尔时,六群比库穿着各种腰带——咖喇布咖、迭杜巴咖、穆拉佳、玛达维那。人们非议、批评、传播:「如同在家欲乐享受者一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应穿着各种腰带——咖喇布咖、迭杜巴咖、穆拉佳、玛达维那。若穿着者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许两种腰带——巴提咖、苏咖兰答咖。」腰带的边缘破损……「诸比库,我允许穆拉佳、玛达维那。」腰带的内部破损……「诸比库,我允许索巴那、古那咖。」腰带的末端破损……「诸比库,我允许维达。」

Tena kho pana samayena āyasmā ānando lahukā saṅghāṭiyo pārupitvā gāmaṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Vātamaṇḍalikāya saṅghāṭiyo ukkhipiyiṃsu. Atha kho āyasmā ānando ārāmaṃ gantvā bhikkhūnaṃ etamatthaṃ ārocesi. Bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, gaṇṭhikaṃ pāsaka’’nti.
尔时,具寿阿难穿着轻薄的桑喀帝进入村落托钵。旋风将桑喀帝吹起。于是,具寿阿难前往精舍,将此事告知诸比库。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许结扣、环扣。」

Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū gaṇṭhikampi pāsakampi cīvare appenti. Cīvaraṃ jīrati . Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, gaṇṭhikaphalakaṃ pāsakaphalaka’’nti. Gaṇṭhikaphalakampi pāsakaphalakampi ante appenti. Koṭṭo vivariyati. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, gaṇṭhikaphalakaṃ ante appetuṃ; pāsakaphalakaṃ sattaṅgulaṃ vā aṭṭhaṅgulaṃ vā ogāhetvā appetu’’nti.
尔时,诸比库将结扣和环扣都缝在衣上。衣破损了。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许结扣板、环扣板。」他们将结扣板和环扣板都缝在边缘。角落裂开了。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许将结扣板缝在边缘;将环扣板深入七指或八指后缝上。」

Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū gihinivatthaṃ nivāsenti – hatthisoṇḍakaṃ, macchavāḷakaṃ, catukaṇṇakaṃ, tālavaṇṭakaṃ, satavalikaṃ. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, gihinivatthaṃ nivāsetabbaṃ – hatthisoṇḍakaṃ, macchavāḷakaṃ, catukaṇṇakaṃ, tālavaṇṭakaṃ, satavalikaṃ. Yo nivāseyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库穿着在家人的下衣穿法——象鼻式、鱼尾式、四角式、棕榈扇式、百褶式。人们非议、批评、传播:「如同在家欲乐享受者一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应穿着在家人的下衣穿法——象鼻式、鱼尾式、四角式、棕榈扇式、百褶式。若穿着者,犯恶作。」

尔时,六群比库以在家人的披衣方式披衣。人们非议、批评、传播:「如同在家欲乐享受者一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应以在家人的披衣方式披衣。若披衣者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū saṃvelliyaṃ nivāsenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi rañño muṇḍavaṭṭīti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, saṃvelliyaṃ nivāsetabbaṃ. Yo nivāseyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库以缠绕方式穿下衣。人们非议、批评、传播:「如同国王的剃发师一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应以缠绕方式穿下衣。若穿着者,犯恶作。」

Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū ubhatokājaṃ haranti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi rañño muṇḍavaṭṭīti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, ubhatokājaṃ haritabbaṃ. Yo hareyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ekatokājaṃ antarākājaṃ sīsabhāraṃ khandhabhāraṃ kaṭibhāraṃ olambaka’’nti.
尔时,六群比库搬运两端有结的(担子)。人们抱怨、非难、传播:「如同国王的理发师一样。」他们将此事告知世尊。「诸比库,不应搬运两端有结的(担子)。若搬运者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许一端有结的、中间有结的、头担、肩担、腰担、悬挂的。」

Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhū dantakaṭṭhaṃ na khādanti. Mukhaṃ duggandhaṃ hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ.
尔时,诸比库不嚼齿木。口有恶臭。他们将此事告知世尊。
‘‘Pañcime , bhikkhave, ādīnavā dantakaṭṭhassa akhādane. Acakkhussaṃ, mukhaṃ duggandhaṃ hoti, rasaharaṇiyo na visujjhanti, pittaṃ semhaṃ bhattaṃ pariyonandhati, bhattamassa nacchādeti – ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca ādīnavā dantakaṭṭhassa akhādane.
「诸比库,不嚼齿木有此等五种过患。无眼力,口有恶臭,味觉器官不清净,胆汁与痰包裹食物,食物对他无味——诸比库,不嚼齿木有此等五种过患。
‘‘Pañcime, bhikkhave, ānisaṃsā dantakaṭṭhassa khādane. Cakkhussaṃ, mukhaṃ na duggandhaṃ hoti, rasaharaṇiyo visujjhanti, pittaṃ semhaṃ bhattaṃ na pariyonandhati, bhattamassa chādeti – ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca ānisaṃsā dantakaṭṭhassa khādane. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, dantakaṭṭha’’nti.
「诸比库,嚼齿木有此等五种利益。有眼力,口无恶臭,味觉器官清净,胆汁与痰不包裹食物,食物对他有味——诸比库,嚼齿木有此等五种利益。诸比库,我允许齿木。」
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū dīghāni dantakaṭṭhāni khādanti, teheva sāmaṇeraṃ ākoṭenti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na , bhikkhave, dīghaṃ dantakaṭṭhaṃ khāditabbaṃ. Yo khādeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, aṭṭhaṅgulaparamaṃ dantakaṭṭhaṃ, na ca tena sāmaṇero ākoṭetabbo. Yo ākoṭeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库嚼长齿木,以此击打沙玛内拉。他们将此事告知世尊。「诸比库,不应嚼长齿木。若嚼者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许最长八指的齿木,不应以此击打沙玛内拉。若击打者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññatarassa bhikkhuno atimaṭāhakaṃ dantakaṭṭhaṃ khādantassa kaṇṭhe vilaggaṃ hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, atimaṭāhakaṃ dantakaṭṭhaṃ khāditabbaṃ. Yo khādeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, caturaṅgulapacchimaṃ dantakaṭṭha’’nti.
尔时,某位比库嚼过于柔软的齿木时,卡在喉咙。他们将此事告知世尊。「诸比库,不应嚼过于柔软的齿木。若嚼者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许最短四指的齿木。」

Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū dāyaṃ ālimpenti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi davaḍāhakāti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, dāyo ālimpitabbo. Yo ālimpeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库涂抹镰刀。人们抱怨、非难、传播:「如同烧草者一样。」他们将此事告知世尊。「诸比库,不应涂抹镰刀。若涂抹者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena vihārā tiṇagahanā honti, davaḍāhe ḍayhamāne vihārā ḍayhanti. Bhikkhū kukkuccāyanti paṭaggiṃ dātuṃ, parittaṃ kātuṃ. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, davaḍāhe ḍayhamāne paṭaggiṃ dātuṃ, parittaṃ kātu’’nti.
尔时,诸住处为草所覆盖,烧草时,诸住处被烧。诸比库疑虑:「(可以)给予防火(措施)、作防护吗?」他们将此事告知世尊。「诸比库,我允许烧草时,给予防火(措施)、作防护。」

Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū rukkhaṃ abhiruhanti, rukkhā rukkhaṃ saṅkamanti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi makkaṭāti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, rukkho abhiruhitabbo. Yo abhiruheyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库攀爬树木,从一树跳到另一树。人们非议、批评、责难:「犹如猴子一般。」诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,不应攀爬树木。若攀爬者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena aññatarassa bhikkhuno kosalesu janapade sāvatthiṃ gacchantassa antarāmagge hatthī pariyuṭṭhāti. Atha kho so bhikkhu rukkhamūlaṃ upadhāvitvā kukkuccāyanto rukkhaṃ na abhiruhi. So hatthī aññena agamāsi. Atha kho so bhikkhu sāvatthiṃ gantvā bhikkhūnaṃ etamatthaṃ ārocesi. Bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, sati karaṇīye porisaṃ rukkhaṃ abhiruhituṃ āpadāsu yāvadattha’’nti.
尔时,某位比库在国萨拉国前往沙瓦提途中,路上遇到大象围困。于是那位比库跑到树根处,因疑虑而未攀爬树木。那头大象从另一方向离去。于是那位比库前往沙瓦提,将此事告知诸比库。诸比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许在有必要时,在危难中为了人身安全而攀爬树木。」

Tena kho pana samayena yameḷakekuṭā nāma bhikkhū dve bhātikā honti brāhmaṇajātikā kalyāṇavācā kalyāṇavākkaraṇā. Te yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu, upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdiṃsu. Ekamantaṃ nisinnā kho te bhikkhū bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘etarahi, bhante, bhikkhū nānānāmā nānāgottā nānājaccā nānākulā pabbajitā. Te sakāya niruttiyā buddhavacanaṃ dūsenti. Handa mayaṃ, bhante, buddhavacanaṃ chandaso āropemā’’ti. Vigarahi buddho bhagavā…pe… ‘‘kathañhi nāma tumhe, moghapurisā, evaṃ vakkhatha – ‘handa mayaṃ, bhante, buddhavacanaṃ chandaso āropemā’ti. Netaṃ, moghapurisā, appasannānaṃ vā pasādāya…pe… vigarahitvā…pe… dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘na, bhikkhave, buddhavacanaṃ chandaso āropetabbaṃ. Yo āropeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, sakāya niruttiyā buddhavacanaṃ pariyāpuṇitu’’nti.
尔时,有名为亚美喇咖咕答的两位兄弟比库,婆罗门种姓出身,善于言辞,善于表达。他们前往世尊处,抵达后,礼敬世尊,坐于一旁。坐于一旁的那些比库对世尊如是说:「尊者,现今诸比库来自不同名、不同姓、不同生、不同族而出家。他们以自己的方言损坏佛语。尊者,让我们将佛语改为韵文吧。」佛陀世尊呵责……「愚痴人,你们怎能如是说:『尊者,让我们将佛语改为韵文吧』?愚痴人,此非令未信者生信……」呵责后……作法谈后,告诉诸比库:「诸比库,不应将佛语改为韵文。若改者,犯恶作。诸比库,我允许以自己的方言学习佛语。」

Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū lokāyataṃ pariyāpuṇanti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – seyyathāpi gihī kāmabhoginoti. Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū tesaṃ manussānaṃ ujjhāyantānaṃ khiyyantānaṃ vipācentānaṃ. Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Api nu kho, bhikkhave, lokāyate sāradassāvī imasmiṃ dhammavinaye vuddhiṃ viruḷhiṃ vepullaṃ āpajjeyyā’’ti? ‘‘Nohetaṃ bhante’’. ‘‘Imasmiṃ vā pana dhammavinaye sāradassāvī lokāyataṃ pariyāpuṇeyyā’’ti? ‘‘Nohetaṃ bhante’’. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, lokāyataṃ pariyāpuṇitabbaṃ. Yo pariyāpuṇeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,六群比库学习世俗论。人们非议、批评、责难:「犹如在家欲乐享受者一般。」诸比库听闻那些人们非议、批评、责难。于是那些比库将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,精通世俗论者能在此法律中获得增长、成长、广大吗?」「不能,尊者。」「或者精通此法律者会学习世俗论吗?」「不会,尊者。」「诸比库,不应学习世俗论。若学习者,犯恶作。」

Tena saddena dhammakathā antarā ahosi. Atha kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘api nu kho, bhikkhave, khipite ‘jīvā’ti vutto tappaccayā jīveyya vā mareyya vā’’ti? ‘‘Nohetaṃ bhante’’. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, khipite ‘jīvā’ti vattabbo. Yo vadeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,世尊为大众围绕说法时打了个喷嚏。诸比库发出高声大声:「尊者,愿世尊长寿;愿善逝长寿。」因那声音,说法中断了。于是世尊告诉诸比库:「诸比库,对打喷嚏者说『长寿』,因此他会活或会死吗?」「不会,尊者。」「诸比库,不应对打喷嚏者说『长寿』。若说者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena manussā bhikkhūnaṃ khipite ‘jīvatha bhante’ti vadanti. Bhikkhū kukkuccāyantā nālapanti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma samaṇā sakyaputtiyā ‘jīvatha bhante’ti vuccamānā nālapissantī’’ti! Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Gihī, bhikkhave, maṅgalikā. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, gihīnaṃ ‘jīvatha bhante’ti vuccamānena ‘ciraṃ jīvā’ti vattu’’nti.
尔时,人们向比库们抛掷(食物)时说「尊者,请活命」。比库们疑虑而不接受。人们抱怨、批评、传播恶言——「为何沙门释迦子被说『尊者,请活命』时不接受呢?」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,在家人喜好吉祥。诸比库,我允许,被在家人说『尊者,请活命』时,说『愿长寿』。」

Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā mahatiyā parisāya parivuto dhammaṃ desento nisinno hoti. Aññatarena bhikkhunā lasuṇaṃ khāyitaṃ hoti. So – mā bhikkhū byābādhiṃsūti – ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Addasā kho bhagavā taṃ bhikkhuṃ ekamantaṃ nisinnaṃ. Disvāna bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘kiṃ nu kho so, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ekamantaṃ nisinno’’ti ? ‘‘Etena, bhante, bhikkhunā lasuṇaṃ khāyitaṃ. So – mā bhikkhū byābādhiṃsūti – ekamantaṃ nisinno’’ti. ‘‘Api nu kho, bhikkhave , taṃ khāditabbaṃ, yaṃ khāditvā evarūpāya dhammakathāya paribāhiyo assā’’ti? ‘‘Nohetaṃ bhante’’. ‘‘Na, bhikkhave, lasuṇaṃ khāditabbaṃ. Yo khādeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
尔时,世尊被大众围绕而坐着说法。某位比库吃了大蒜。他想「莫使诸比库受妨害」,便坐在一边。世尊看见那位比库坐在一边。看见后,告诉诸比库——「诸比库,为何那位比库坐在一边?」「尊者,此比库吃了大蒜。他想『莫使诸比库受妨害』,便坐在一边。」「诸比库,难道应该吃那种吃了之后会被排除在如此法谈之外的东西吗?」「尊者,不应该。」「诸比库,不应吃大蒜。若吃者,犯恶作。」
Tena kho pana samayena āyasmato sāriputtassa udaravātābādho hoti. Atha kho āyasmā mahāmoggallāno yenāyasmā sāriputto tenupasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā āyasmantaṃ sāriputtaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘pubbe te, āvuso sāriputta, udaravātābādho kena phāsu hotī’’ti? ‘‘Lasuṇena me, āvuso’’ti . Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. ‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ābādhappaccayā lasuṇaṃ khāditu’’nti.
尔时,具寿沙利子有腹风病。时,具寿马哈摩嘎喇那去到具寿沙利子处,到达后对具寿沙利子这样说——「贤友沙利子,以前你的腹风病用什么舒缓?」「贤友,用大蒜。」他们将此事禀告世尊。「诸比库,我允许,因病缘而吃大蒜。」

尔时,六群比库行如此恶行——种花鬘或使人种,浇水或使人浇,采摘或使人采摘,编结或使人编结,做单边花鬘或使人做,做双边花鬘或使人做,做花束或使人做,做花环或使人做,做花饰或使人做,做花球或使人做,做胸饰或使人做。他们拿单边花鬘给族姓女、族姓女儿、族姓少女、族姓媳妇、族姓女仆或使人拿,拿双边花鬘或使人拿,拿花束或使人拿,拿花环或使人拿,拿花饰或使人拿,拿花球或使人拿,拿胸饰或使人拿。他们与族姓女、族姓女儿、族姓少女、族姓媳妇、族姓女仆同一盘吃,同一碗喝,同一座坐,同一床卧,同一席卧,同一被盖,同一席被盖,非时吃,饮酒,持花鬘香涂料,跳舞、唱歌、演奏、表演;对跳舞者跳舞,对跳舞者唱歌,对跳舞者演奏,对跳舞者表演……对表演者跳舞,对表演者唱歌,对表演者演奏,对表演者表演;玩八格棋,玩十格棋,玩空中棋,玩跳房子,玩积木,玩骰子,玩击棒,玩手印,玩球,玩叶笛,玩玩具犁,玩翻筋斗,玩玩具风车,玩玩具秤,玩玩具车,玩玩具弓,玩猜字,玩猜心,玩模仿残疾;学骑象,学骑马,学驾车,学射箭;学用棒;在象前跑,在马前跑,在车前跑或追跑;跳跃、拍掌、摔跤、用拳打斗;在竞技场中铺开桑喀帝后对舞女这样说——「姊妹,在此跳舞」;给额饰;行种种恶行。他们将此事禀告世尊……「诸比库,不应行种种恶行。若行者,应如法处置。」
Tena kho pana samayena āyasmante uruvelakassape pabbajite saṅghassa bahuṃ lohabhaṇḍaṃ dārubhaṇḍaṃ mattikābhaṇḍaṃ uppannaṃ hoti. Atha kho bhikkhūnaṃ etadahosi – ‘‘kiṃ nu kho bhagavatā lohabhaṇḍaṃ anuññātaṃ, kiṃ ananuññātaṃ; kiṃ dārubhaṇḍaṃ anuññātaṃ, kiṃ ananuññātaṃ; kiṃ mattikābhaṇḍaṃ anuññātaṃ, kiṃ ananuññāta’’nti? Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, ṭhapetvā paharaṇiṃ sabbaṃ lohabhaṇḍaṃ, ṭhapetvā āsandiṃ pallaṅkaṃ dārupattaṃ dārupādukaṃ sabbaṃ dārubhaṇḍaṃ, ṭhapetvā katakañca kumbhakārikañca sabbaṃ mattikābhaṇḍa’’nti.
尔时,具寿伍卢韦喇咖沙巴出家后,僧团得到许多铁器、木器、陶器。时,诸比库这样想——「世尊允许什么铁器,不允许什么;允许什么木器,不允许什么;允许什么陶器,不允许什么?」他们将此事禀告世尊。时,世尊以此因缘、以此事件作法谈后,告诉诸比库——「诸比库,我允许,除了武器外的一切铁器,除了高床、长椅、木板、木鞋外的一切木器,除了大瓮和陶工所作外的一切陶器。」
