Padumabuddhe pana parinibbute tassa sāsane ca antarahite vassasatasahassāyukā manussā anukkamena parihāyamānā dasavassāyukā ahesuṃ. Puna vaḍḍhitvā asaṅkhyeyyāyukā hutvā parihāyamānā navutivassasahassāyukā ahesuṃ. Tadā dasabaladharo tevijjo catuvesārajjavisārado vimuttisārado nārado nāma narasattuttamo satthā loke udapādi. So cattāri asaṅkhyeyyāni kappasatasahassañca pāramiyo pūretvā tusitabhavane nibbattitvā tato cavitvā dhaññavatī nāma nagare sakavīriyavijitavāsudevassa sudevassa nāma rañño kule aggamahesiyā nirūpamāya anomāya nāma deviyā kucchismiṃ paṭisandhiṃ aggahesi. So dasannaṃ māsānaṃ accayena dhanañjayuyyāne mātukucchito nikkhami. Nāmaggahaṇadivase pana nāmakaraṇe kayiramāne sakalajambudīpe manussānaṃ upabhogakkhamāni anurūpāni ābharaṇāni ākāsato kapparukkhādīhi patiṃsu. Tenassa narānaṃ arahāni ābharaṇāni adāsīti ‘‘nārado’’ti nāmaṃ akaṃsu.
世尊果德玛涅槃之后,于该教法消失的期间内,有寿命达一百万年的人类因缘而灭亡,之后寿命达十年的人出现。又增长无数岁,寿命达九千万年的人类灭亡。那时,有一位具三明通,能胜十力,精通四弘誓、解脱义者,有名为那若陀之尊贵人师出现在世间。彼人完满了四无量无数百千万劫的波罗蜜,生起于忉利天宫。然后,还俗于名为达纳伽卫的城中,入于萨咖威理耶毗吉多悉底婆罗王之王族,娶于无比之王后阿诺摩女神。此女居于宫中,诞生继承者。彼太子于十九个月生时,在达纳伽卫园林出行。宣告命名当日,诸人有价值、适合人类享用的饰物从空中以树叶、花朵为上,被授与该太子之名「那若陀」以彰显其身份。
So navavassasahassāni agāramajjhe vasi. Vijito vijitāvī vijitābhirāmoti tiṇṇaṃ utūnaṃ anucchavikā tayo pāsādā ahesuṃ. Tassa nāradakumārassa kulasīlācārarūpasampannaṃ manonukūlaṃ vijitasenaṃ nāma ativiya dhaññaṃ khattiyakaññaṃ aggamahesiṃ akaṃsu. Taṃ ādiṃ katvā vīsatisahassādhikaṃ itthīnaṃ satasahassaṃ ahosi. Tassā vijitasenāya deviyā sabbalokānandakare nanduttarakumāre nāma jāte so cattāri nimittāni disvā caturaṅginiyā mahatiyā senāya parivuto nānāvirāgatanuvaravasananivasano āmukkamuttāhāramaṇikuṇḍalo varakeyūramakuṭakaṭakadharo paramasurabhigandhakusumasamalaṅkato padasāva uyyānaṃ gantvā sabbābharaṇāni omuñcitvā bhaṇḍāgārikassa hatthe datvā sayameva vimalanīlakuvalayadalasadisenātinisitenāsinā paramaruciraratanavicittaṃ sakesamakuṭaṃ chinditvā gaganatale khipi. Taṃ sakko devarājā suvaṇṇacaṅkoṭakena paṭiggahetvā tāvatiṃsabhavanaṃ netvā tiyojanubbedhaṃ sinerumuddhani sattaratanamayaṃ cetiyaṃ akāsi.
彼太子寿命九万年,居于非宫殿之所。胜利称号有「已胜」、「已胜之林」、「已胜喜悦」。其拥有三座竹制华丽宫殿。那若陀太子的家族通过家风德行、美貌、心性等俱全,得以娶了名为毗耶多那的极美贵族女子。此女子生第一子,人口逾二万五千。该女子毗耶多那生下那若陀太子妻子安多骥,他令诸天皆喜,其名为南多达那。如是见四象征,乃执四方军,披戴各色衣袍,佩戴金银宝饰,香气芬芳,进入王宫园林,悉数除去佩带之饰物,献与掌管府库者。自行斩断青蓝色宝冠、宝剑,投掷天空。天帝萨咖以金铜杵收受,奉于忉利天宫,为之修筑七宝塔,矗立于银水之山。
Mahāpuriso pana devadattāni kāsāyāni vatthāni paridahitvā tattheva uyyāne pabbaji. Purisasatasahassā ca taṃ anupabbajiṃsu. So sattāhaṃ tattheva padhānacariyaṃ caritvā visākhapuṇṇamāya vijitasenāya aggamahesiyā dinnaṃ pāyāsaṃ paribhuñjitvā tattheva uyyāne divāvihāraṃ katvā sudassanuyyānapālena dinnā aṭṭha tiṇamuṭṭhiyo gahetvā mahāsoṇabodhiṃ padakkhiṇaṃ katvā aṭṭhapaṇṇāsahatthavitthataṃ tiṇasantharaṃ santharitvā nisīditvā mārabalaṃ vidhamitvā tīsu yāmesu tisso vijjā uppādetvā sabbaññutaññāṇaṃ paṭivijjhitvā – ‘‘anekajātisaṃsāraṃ…pe… taṇhānaṃ khayamajjhagā’’ti udānaṃ udānetvā sattasattāhāni vītināmetvā brahmuno yācito paṭiññaṃ datvā dhanañjayuyyāne attanā saha pabbajitehi satasahassabhikkhūhi parivuto tattha dhammacakkaṃ pavattesi. Tadā koṭisatasahassānaṃ dhammābhisamayo ahosi. Tena vuttaṃ –
大人即身着赭色袈裟,剃除头发,当时即往园林剃度为出家人。数十万人亦跟随出家。彼于七天内,立定毗达那行为,于维耶陀迦施以粥食,日中游园。饰持三握麦秸,绕行于大树菩提周围,整理八万五千肘麦秸垫坐,坐禅息魔。三夜间得三明,证得遍知之智,完全通达一切知识。彼以《优陀那颂》绽放悟语,七十七周后,受禅师布拉明之请,允诺教法传授。于达纳伽卫园林,同百千比库周围,宣说法轮。当时百万千万众生证得法味喜。他宣说法已成,云云。

‘‘Padumassa aparena, sambuddho dvipaduttamo;
「莲花尊者其后,世尊为两足之尊;
Nārado nāma nāmena, asamo appaṭipuggalo.
名曰那若陀者,此人非常凡人。」

‘‘So buddho cakkavattissa, jeṭṭho dayitaoraso;
「此佛为世间王,最大尊长,世人之所敬爱。」
Āmukkamālābharaṇo, uyyānaṃ upasaṅkami.
带着花环珠宝,走近了园林。

‘‘Tatthāsi rukkho yasavipulo, abhirūpo brahmā suci;
在那里,有一株枝叶茂盛、形态优美的梵树。
Tamajjhappatvā upanisīdi, mahāsoṇassa heṭṭhato.
(有人)走到梵树中央,在大颂那的下方坐下。

‘‘Tattha ñāṇavaruppajji, anantaṃ vajirūpamaṃ;
在那里,智慧随之生起,像无尽坚固的金刚。
Tena vicini saṅkhāre, ukkujjamavakujjakaṃ.
凭借这智慧,善恶造作都被提拔或低伏。

‘‘Tattha sabbakilesāni, asesamabhivāhayi;
在那里,诸恶染皆被彻底清除,毫无遗漏。
Pāpuṇī kevalaṃ bodhiṃ, buddhañāṇe ca cuddasa.
只获得完满觉悟以及与佛智相关的十三种(境界)。

‘‘Pāpuṇitvāna sambodhiṃ, dhammacakkaṃ pavattayi;
「获得无上正等觉后,转动法轮;
Koṭisatasahassānaṃ, paṭhamābhisamayo ahū’’ti.
这是亿万众生中,第一转法轮的无上殊胜时刻。」
Tattha cakkavattissāti cakkavattirañño. Jeṭṭhoti pubbajo. Dayitaorasoti dayito piyo oraso putto, dayito orasi gahetvā lālito putto dayitaoraso nāma. Āmukkamālābharaṇoti āmukkamuttāhārakeyūrakaṭakamakuṭakuṇḍalamālo. Uyyānanti bahinagare dhanañjayuyyānaṃ nāmārāmaṃ agamāsi.
其中,所谓转轮王意指轮转天下的君王。长者(Jeṭṭha)即前生之意。『日之所爱者』意指深受喜爱的儿子,称他为『所爱日』。携带至爱之日,宠爱的儿子名为所爱日。所谓臂环、项链、装饰品等,即臂镯、头饰、手镯、项链、冠冕、耳环、花环。所谓园林指富饶市中名为财宝园林的庄园。
Tatthāsi rukkhoti tasmiṃ uyyāne eko kira rukkho rattasoṇo nāma ahosi. So kira navutihatthubbedho samavaṭṭakkhandho sampannavividhaviṭapasākho nīlabahalavipulapalāso sandacchāyo devatādhivuṭṭhattā vigatavividhavihagagaṇasañcāro dharaṇītalatilakabhūto tarurajjaṃ viya kurumāno paramaramaṇīyadassano rattakusumasamalaṅkatasabbasākho devamanussanayanarasāyanabhūto ahosi. Yasavipuloti vipulayaso, sabbalokavikhyāto attano sampattiyā sabbattha pākaṭo vissutoti attho. Keci ‘‘tatthāsi rukkho vipulo’’ti paṭhanti. Brahāti mahanto, devānaṃ pāricchattakasadisoti attho. Tamajjhappatvāti taṃ soṇarukkhaṃ patvā adhipatvā upagammāti attho. Heṭṭhatoti tassa rukkhassa heṭṭhā.
所谓那棵树,即该园中据说有一树名为日光树(Rattasoṇa)。该树体长约九十肘,躯干圆润饱满,枝叶茂盛繁多,蓝灰色苔藓覆盖。其阴影遮蔽众神,且无鸟雀骚扰,正如地之表面上的饰物,像藤蔓般攀附,更是极其悦目,树冠散发如日花香味。整株树枝叶繁茂,闻名于天下,因其自身的丰盛富饶而闻名广泛,处处明现。有人解作“那树甚广阔”。「婆罗」意谓伟大、诸天的护罩。中典意指此树如一巨大金刚树的顶枝生长,树冠统领如王者般。这棵树的低部即下方。
Ñāṇavaruppajjīti ñāṇavaraṃ udapādi. Anantanti appameyyaṃ appamāṇaṃ. Vajirūpamanti vajirasadisaṃ tikhiṇaṃ, aniccānupassanādikassa vipassanāñāṇassetaṃ adhivacanaṃ. Tena vicini saṅkhāreti tena vipassanāñāṇena rūpādike saṅkhāre vicini. Ukkujjamavakujjakanti saṅkhārānaṃ udayañca vayañca vicinīti attho. Tasmā paccayākāraṃ sammasitvā ānāpānacatutthajjhānato vuṭṭhāya pañcasu khandhesu abhinivisitvā udayabbayavasena samapaññāsa lakkhaṇāni disvā yāva gotrabhuñāṇaṃ vipassanaṃ vaḍḍhetvā ariyamaggānukkamena sakale buddhaguṇe paṭilabhīti attho.
所谓产生智慧特质,即智慧之特质出世。所谓无限,是指无量无边。所谓如金刚色,是比喻锐利坚固,如不变之观照无常等通达智慧,此为观慧之名称。用此智慧审视行蕴等,便能洞察诸行的生起与灭亡。所谓「上升下降」是指行蕴等的生起与消灭。因认识到因缘之形态,从入出息念的第四禅那起而起,观五蕴至五蕴,逐次显现生灭的特征。直至智慧成长至传承之慧,配合正觉之道,得成世尊之三摩地,获得圆满现前。
Tatthāti soṇarukkhe. Sabbakilesānīti sabbepi kilese, liṅgavipariyāsaṃ katvā vuttaṃ. Keci ‘‘tattha sabbakilesehī’’ti paṭhanti. Asesanti niravasesaṃ. Abhivāhayīti maggodhinā ca kilesodhinā ca sabbe kilese abhivāhayi, vināsamupanesīti attho. Bodhīti arahattamaggañāṇaṃ. Buddhañāṇe ca cuddasāti buddhañāṇāni cuddasa. Tāni katamānīti? Maggaphalañāṇāni aṭṭha, cha asādhāraṇañāṇānīti evamimāni cuddasa buddhañāṇāni nāma, ca-saddo sampiṇḍanattho, tena aparānipi catasso paṭisambhidāñāṇāni catuvesārajjañāṇāni catuyoniparicchedakañāṇāni pañcagatiparicchedakañāṇāni dasabalañāṇāni sakale ca buddhaguṇe pāpuṇīti attho.
此中谓之钵那树。凡所有染者,谓所有烦恼皆是。经过相反变化而言。有些人读作“其中皆是烦恼”,意谓全部完整无缺。阿毗跋阇意指烦恼的根本与根深,谓诸烦恼皆被根本根深所摄,导致其灭亡生起。菩提谓阿拉汉道及智。佛智有十三种。何谓此?谓道果智有八种;此外有非凡智慧,是为这十三种佛智之名。此数合并,余四种名为分解三昧智、四种王权智、四因分解智、五种境界分解智,以及十种力量智。诸智具足达成佛的功德义。
Evaṃ buddhattaṃ patvā brahmāyācanaṃ adhivāsetvā dhanañjayuyyāne attanā saha pabbajite satasahassabhikkhū sammukhe katvā dhammacakkaṃ pavattesi. Tadā koṭisatasahassassa paṭhamābhisamayo ahosi. Tadā kira mahādoṇanagare doṇo nāma nāgarājā gaṅgātīre paṭivasati mahiddhiko mahānubhāvo mahājanena sakkato garukato mānito pūjito. So yasmiṃ visaye janapadavāsino manussā tassa balikammaṃ na karonti, tesaṃ visayaṃ avassena vā ativassena vā sakkharavassena vā vināseti.
因成佛而得神通,世尊在梵天所请示之处,于大富阇园中,和自己以及刚出家的一百千比库们共行佛道,初次转动法轮。彼时有千万百千第一次受记。传说在大多罗城,有一名为多那的国王,栖居在恒河岸边,威德广大,神力非凡,深受众民敬重尊重礼拜钦敬。他所在地域的人间,不作还俗行为,故此地经常或时断或不断地得大雨滋润。
Atha tīradassano nārado satthā doṇassa nāgarājassa vinayane bahūnaṃ pāṇīnaṃ upanissayaṃ disvā mahatā bhikkhusaṅghena parivārito tassa nāgarājassa nivāsaṭṭhānamagamāsi. Tato taṃ manussā disvā evamāhaṃsu – ‘‘bhagavā, ettha ghoraviso uggatejo mahiddhiko mahānubhāvo nāgarājā paṭivasati, so taṃ mā viheṭhessati na gantabba’’nti. Bhagavā pana tesaṃ vacanaṃ asuṇanto viya agamāsi. Gantvā ca tatthassa nāgarājassa sakkāratthāya kate paramasurabhigandhe pupphasanthare nisīdi. Mahājano kira ‘‘nāradassa ca munirājassa doṇassa ca nāgarājassa dvinnampi yuddhaṃ passissāmā’’ti sannipati.
此后,天眼通者那罗陀尊者观察多那王的修行与律仪,目视多众比库僧团环绕所在国王之住处。于是人们见到此景,议论曰:“世尊,现在有一位具大光明、大神力、大威德的国王居于此,恐难为其所侵犯,不可前往。”世尊似未闻众言,自行来至此地,为敬礼诸佛赞叹之行,在无比芳香花香中安坐。大众议论道:“我们将观见那罗陀尊者与多那国王间将有大战发生。”
Atha ahināgo munināgaṃ tathā nisinnaṃ disvā makkhaṃ asahamāno sandissamānakāyo hutvā padhūpāyi. Dasabalopi padhūpāyi. Puna nāgarājā pajjali . Munirājāpi pajjali. Atha so nāgarājā dasabalassa sarīrato nikkhantāhi dhūmajālāhi ativiya kilantasarīro dukkhaṃ asahamāno ‘‘visavegena naṃ māressāmī’’ti visaṃ vissajjesi. Visassa vegena sakalopi jambudīpo vinasseyya. Taṃ pana visaṃ dasabalassa sarīre ekalomampi kampetuṃ nāsakkhi. Atha so nāgarājā – ‘‘kā nu kho samaṇassa pavattī’’ti olokento saradasamaye sūriyaṃ viya candaṃ viya ca paripuṇṇaṃ chabbaṇṇāhi buddharasmīhi virocamānaṃ vippasannavadanasobhaṃ bhagavantaṃ disvā – ‘‘aho! Mahiddhiko vatāyaṃ samaṇo, mayā pana attano balaṃ ajānantena aparaddha’’nti cintetvā tāṇaṃ gavesī bhagavantaṃyeva saraṇamupagañchi. Atha nārado munirājā taṃ nāgarājaṃ vinetvā tattha sannipatitassa mahājanassa cittappasādanatthaṃ yamakapāṭihāriyaṃ akāsi. Tadā pāṇīnaṃ navutikoṭisahassāni arahatte patiṭṭhahiṃsu. So dutiyo abhisamayo ahosi. Tena vuttaṃ –
时,虎王见尼龙坐处,愤怒不悦,身受腐烂,气味恶臭。毒气肆虐身上,痛苦难忍,念“愿毒速灭我”。假如毒气速灭,整个印度将毁灭。但此毒气无法令尼龙之身稍震动。于是国王观望曰:“此何沙门?”。当秋末集会之时,忽见日月辉映,佛光普照,面色庄严光明,心想:“此沙门真不可思议,我因无知轻视其力量。”遂亲自往依止世尊。此时那罗陀尊者训斥那国王,令在场众生心安定,施行双重神通称奇。彼时有九千亿比库证得阿拉汉果,成为第二次受记。其时有言曰——

‘‘Mahādoṇaṃ nāgarājaṃ, vinayanto mahāmuni;
“尊大的多那国王,恭敬至尊大圣者;
Pāṭiheraṃ tadākāsi, dassayanto sadevake.
恭敬之举展开,令诸天神欣喜。”

‘‘Tadā devamanussānaṃ, tamhi dhammappakāsane;
当时正值天人和人众教法显扬的时期,
Navutikoṭisahassāni, tariṃsu sabbasaṃsaya’’nti.
其时数目有九千万千(即九千万乘一千),无有丝毫疑惑。
Tattha pāṭiheraṃ tadākāsīti akāsi yamakapāṭihāriyanti attho. Ayameva vā pāṭho. ‘‘Tadā devamanussā vā’’tipi pāṭho. Tattha devamanussānanti sāmiatthe paccattaṃ. Tasmā devānaṃ manussānañca navutikoṭisahassānīti attho. Tariṃsūti atikkamiṃsu.
此中‘pāṭiheraṃ’与‘tadākāsīti’合为一义,谓此称为‘yamaka pāṭihāriya’(双重奇迹)。此句亦是一种通行的句读法。又有‘当时天人或人众’的说法,其中‘天人与人众’为复合名词,意指众多天人与人;‘九千万千’指天人与人共计九千万千,即九百万万;‘tariṃsu’谓彼等已超越(数量之限)。
Yadā pana attano puttaṃ nanduttarakumāraṃ ovadi, tadā asītiyā koṭisahassānaṃ tatiyābhisamayo ahosi. Tena vuttaṃ –
又说,当他劝诫自己的儿子难迦俄多罗王子时,正值第三个十亿千(亿万计)的时期。对此有言:

‘‘Yamhi kāle mahāvīro, ovadī sakamatrajaṃ;
‘当那时勇猛的大圣者教诲同母子,
Asītikoṭisahassānaṃ, tatiyābhisamayo ahū’’ti.
第三个十亿千的时期乃已到来。’
Yadā pana thullakoṭṭhitanagare bhaddasālo ca vijitamitto ca dve brāhmaṇasahāyakā amatarahadaṃ gavesamānā parisati nisinnaṃ ativisāradaṃ nāradasammāsambuddhaṃ addasaṃsu. Te bhagavato kāye dvattiṃsamahāpurisalakkhaṇāni disvā – ‘‘ayaṃ loke vivaṭacchado sammāsambuddho’’ti niṭṭhaṃ gantvā bhagavati sañjātasaddhā saparivārā bhagavato santike pabbajiṃsu. Tesu pabbajitvā arahattaṃ pattesu bhagavā bhikkhūnaṃ koṭisatasahassamajjhe pātimokkhaṃ uddisi, so paṭhamo sannipāto ahosi. Tena vuttaṃ –
当时,在大城土罗阇邑内,布施舍利和毗提密多两位婆罗门侍者正在寻找无死之境,见到了那位精通无比的如来那罗陀正法的佛陀。他们观见世尊身上二十二相伟大殊胜,于是称赞道:“此人乃世间断尽无明的正觉者。”随即安心恭敬,怀着坚定信心,并带众弟子,亲近世尊,出家从道。彼时,世尊已获阿拉汉果,与数百万比库同住,开示戒律,这是第一次集结部众的集合会。由此说起:

‘‘Sannipātā tayo āsuṃ, nāradassa mahesino;
「集会共有三次,这乃那罗陀圣者的事迹;
Koṭisatasahassānaṃ, paṭhamo āsi samāgamo’’ti.
面对数以百万计的比库,第一次集会已然成立。」
Yasmiṃ samaye nārado sammāsambuddho ñātisamāgame attano paṇidhānato paṭṭhāya buddhavaṃsaṃ kathesi, tadā navutikoṭibhikkhusahassānaṃ dutiyo sannipāto ahosi. Tena vuttaṃ –
后来,当那罗陀正觉者在亲族相聚时,立下誓言陈述佛传,随后召开了有九千万比库参加的第二次集合会。于是记载:

‘‘Yadā buddho buddhaguṇaṃ, sanidānaṃ pakāsayi;
「当世尊显现佛陀殊胜之德时,
Navutikoṭisahassāni, samiṃsu vimalā tadā’’ti.
九千万比库齐集,他们当时身心清净。」
Tattha vimalāti vigatamalā, khīṇāsavāti attho.
此中,『净洁』者,谓清净无垢;『断尽烦恼』者,意指烦恼已尽灭。
Yadā pana mahādoṇanāgarājassa vinayane pasanno verocano nāma nāgarājā gaṅgāya nadiyā tigāvutappamāṇaṃ sattaratanamayaṃ maṇḍapaṃ nimminitvā saparivāraṃ bhagavantaṃ tattha nisīdāpetvā saparivāro sajanapade attano dānaggadassanatthāya nimantetvā nāganāṭakāni ca tāḷāvacare vividhavesālaṅkāradhare sannipātetvā mahāsakkārena bhagavato saparivārassa mahādānaṃ adāsi. Bhojanāvasāne bhagavā mahāgaṅgaṃ otārento viya anumodanamakāsi. Tadā bhattānumodane dhammaṃ sutvā pasannānaṃ ehibhikkhupabbajjāya pabbajitānaṃ asītibhikkhusatasahassānaṃ majjhe pātimokkhaṃ uddisi, so tatiyo sannipāto ahosi. Tena vuttaṃ –
那时,龙王大毒蚺(Mahādoṇanāgarāja)在对比库戒律的学习中,心生欢喜,名曰明朗(Verocano)的另一龙王,在恒河的河畔,用七宝组成的亭阁,长三十由旬,邀请世尊及众随从安坐。众随从及其亲属,为了展示布施功德,排列了各色各样持有装饰的龙舞演员。大龙王以伟力为世尊及众随从施以巨大布施。饭毕,世尊好似渡过大恒河般,予以赞叹。随后,听闻食事许可声,三十万比库欢喜受法,世尊示现巴提摩迦戒,此时为第三次聚会。由此说起——

‘‘Yadā verocano nāgo, dānaṃ dadāti satthuno;
「当明朗龙王布施时,佛陀之子等,三十万位齐集。」
Tadā samiṃsu jinaputtā, asītisatasahassiyo’’ti.
那时,胜者之子们聚集一处,共有八千万之众。
Tattha asītisatasahassiyoti satasahassānaṃ asītiyo.
此处所说三十万者,是三十万个一万。
Tadā amhākaṃ bodhisatto isipabbajjaṃ pabbajitvā himavantapasse assamaṃ māpetvā pañcasu abhiññāsu aṭṭhasu samāpattīsu ca ciṇṇavasī hutvā paṭivasati. Atha tasmiṃ anukampāya nārado bhagavā asītiyā arahantakoṭīhi dasahi ca anāgāmiphalaṭṭhehi upāsakasahassehi parivuto taṃ assamapadaṃ agamāsi. Tāpaso bhagavantaṃ disvāva pamuditahadayo saparivārassa bhagavato nivāsatthāya assamaṃ māpetvā sakalarattiṃ satthuguṇaṃ kittetvā bhagavato dhammakathaṃ sutvā punadivase uttarakuruṃ gantvā tato āhāraṃ āharitvā saparivārassa buddhassa mahādānaṃ adāsi. Evaṃ sattāhaṃ mahādānaṃ datvā himavantato anagghaṃ lohitacandanaṃ āharitvā tena lohitacandanena bhagavantaṃ pūjesi. Tadā naṃ dasabalo amaranaraparivuto dhammakathaṃ kathetvā – ‘‘anāgate gotamo nāma buddho bhavissatī’’ti byākāsi. Tena vuttaṃ –
当时,我等的觉者出家于世尊,隐居于喜马拉雅山,修行正勤,得五种神通,入八禅中,心志清净而住。时有慈悲心的那罗(Narada)尊者,伴以三十亿阿拉汉及十倍过后得阿那含果位的近事男众千人,前来禀告世尊隐居之处。尊者见世尊忏悔已毕,心欢喜,为随从众安排住处,整晚讴扬佛德,听闻佛法开示。翌日便前往乌达罗国,备饮食及物品,为世尊及众随从施以盛大布施。因此,七天之后,用罕有的红檀木供养世尊,以红檀木礼敬佛。那时,有十位强力不死之众在旁宣说法义—「未来有一名果德玛佛将出生」,由此开示–

‘‘Ahaṃ tena samayena, jaṭilo uggatāpano;
当时我身披粗糙的发结,承受炽烈的热风烈日,
Antalikkhacaro āsiṃ, pañcābhiññāsu pāragū.
生活于空中游行,通达五种超巧神通已到达彼岸。

‘‘Tadāpāhaṃ asamasamaṃ, sasaṅghaṃ saparijjanaṃ;
那时我不分昼夜,为众僧团及其弟子们服务,
Annapānena tappetvā, candanenābhipūjayiṃ.
以食饮供养他们,用檀香如尊敬般礼敬。

‘‘Sopi maṃ tadā byākāsi, nārado lokanāyako;
彼时世间导者那罗陀也向我宣说,
Aparimeyyito kappe, buddho loke bhavissati.
告知我在无量劫中,将有佛陀出世于世间。

‘‘Padhānaṃ padahitvāna…pe… hessāma sammukhā imaṃ.
『努力』者,放下种种杂念而专注,于此努力中必成正面相应者。

‘‘Tassāpi vacanaṃ sutvā, bhiyyo hāsetva mānasaṃ;
又闻其语,心生欢喜之相,加增欢笑,
Adhiṭṭhahiṃ vataṃ uggaṃ, dasapāramipūriyā’’ti.
必当坚立于上,圆满十种波罗蜜多。
Tattha tadāpāhanti tadāpi ahaṃ. Asamasamanti asamā nāma atītā buddhā, tehi asamehi samaṃ tulyaṃ asamasamaṃ. Atha vā asamā visamā, samā avisamā sādhavo, tesu asamasamesu samo ‘‘asamasamasamo’’ti vattabbe ekassa samasaddassa lopaṃ katvā vuttanti veditabbaṃ, asamāvisamasamanti attho. Saparijjananti saupāsakajanaṃ. ‘‘Sopi maṃ tadā naramarūnaṃ, majjhe byākāsi cakkhumā’’tipi pāṭho , so uttānatthova. Bhiyyo hāsetva mānasanti uttarimpi hāsetvā tosetvā hadayaṃ. Adhiṭṭhahiṃ vataṃ ugganti uggaṃ vataṃ adhiṭṭhāsiṃ. ‘‘Uttariṃ vatamadhiṭṭhāsiṃ, dasapāramipūriyā’’tipi pāṭho.
然则彼时亦复言曰:以『不等』称谓过往诸佛,谓之不等者,等者相等也;若非等者谓之不等者,而等者谓之不等者者等乎?或谓不等者即是非等者、不平等者之意,是诸善士中不等之意。彼众中于此类不等者,若治一同音之失,则称『不等不等等』,其义为不等不平等也。比库尼们因此而起厌恶,谓曰『彼时彼人,显露人形』此言智者所显,是正也。心更欢喜,乃至上方欢喜且悦心悦意。必当坚立于上,为上者也,坚立于上,圆满十种波罗蜜多诸相。
Tassa pana bhagavato nāradassa dhaññavatī nāma nagaraṃ ahosi, sudevo nāma khattiyo pitā, anomā nāma mātā, bhaddasālo ca jitamitto ca dve aggasāvakā, vāseṭṭho nāma upaṭṭhāko, uttarā ca phaggunī ca dve aggasāvikā, mahāsoṇarukkho bodhi, sarīraṃ aṭṭhāsītihatthubbedhaṃ ahosi. Tassa sarīrappabhā niccaṃ yojanaṃ pharati, navutivassasahassāni āyu, tassa pana vijitasenā nāma aggamahesī, nanduttarakumāro nāmassa putto ahosi, vijito vijitāvī vijitābhirāmoti tayo pāsādā ahesuṃ. So navavassasahassāni agāraṃ ajjhāvasi. So padasāva mahābhinikkhamanaṃ nikkhamīti. Tena vuttaṃ –
当时世尊所在之处,名为那罗达的阇纳尼吧,亦名为达纳,那罗达之城。有贵族,名曰苏德瓦,父为刹帝利,母名阿诺玛。有两位著名弟子,一名薄陀质多,一名寂灭,辅佐世尊;又有两位女弟子,北利与牟阇尼,皆为大善知识。大苏奴犊波提曾证得菩提,身具八十八肘之高大。其身体光明常照达若一由旬远之处,寿命有九万岁。其妻名曰毗迦提塞那,儿子名南兜陀罗。又有三所宫室,名曰毗吉多、毗迦提阿毗罗摩、毗吉多拉摩。居家有九万年于中间之处。其以足声闻出家,谓之大出家也。此即所记曰-

‘‘Nagaraṃ dhaññavatī nāma, sudevo nāma khattiyo;
『那罗达城名为达纳,贵族名曰苏德瓦』。
Anomā nāma janikā, nāradassa mahesino.
名为阿诺摩者,是那罗帝尊的母亲。

‘‘Bhaddasālo jitamitto, ahesuṃ aggasāvakā;
「富足堂皇、胜利者,成为第一弟子;
Vāseṭṭho nāmupaṭṭhāko, nāradassa mahesino.
名为瓦塞多者,是那罗帝尊的侍从。」

‘‘Uttarā phaggunī ceva, ahesuṃ aggasāvikā;
「又有名为乌塔拉·法固尼者,成为第一女弟子;
Bodhi tassa bhagavato, mahāsoṇoti vuccati.
因与世尊同证菩提,故称作大颂。」

‘‘Aṭṭhāsītiratanāni, accuggato mahāmuni;
八十八颗宝珠,集于大圣人身上;
Kañcanagghiyasaṅkāso, dasasahassī virocati.
黄金色的火焰形态,放射出光辉,宽度达一万由旬。

‘‘Tassa byāmappabhā kāyā, niddhāvati disodisaṃ;
其身体发出黄色的光辉,能够照耀东方;
Nirantaraṃ divārattiṃ, yojanaṃ pharate sadā.
昼夜不停,恒常发光,始终延伸一由旬的距离。

‘‘Na keci tena samayena, samantā yojane janā;
此时无人,四处在一由旬范围内的任何方向;
Ukkāpadīpe ujjālenti, buddharaṃsīhi otthaṭā.
皆被圣者的光辉照耀,亮光炽盛如火焰上升。

‘‘Navutivassasahassāni, āyu vijjati tāvade;
寿命有九万余年,正是当时的寿命。
Tāvatā tiṭṭhamāno so, tāresi janataṃ bahuṃ.
于此时正立于世间者,度脱了众多大众。

‘‘Yathā uḷūhi gaganaṃ, vicittaṃ upasobhati;
如同乌鸦涂抹污染天空,
Tatheva sāsanaṃ tassa, arahantehi sobhati.
如是彼教法由阿拉汉而显光明。

‘‘Saṃsārasotaṃ taraṇāya, sesake paṭipannake;
为渡过轮回之流,行于余波之者,
Dhammasetuṃ daḷhaṃ katvā, nibbuto so narāsabho.
建构坚固的佛法相,彼牛王已入涅槃。

‘‘Sopi buddho asamasamo, tepi khīṇāsavā atulatejā;
彼佛亦非平凡,且为已断尽染污、光明无量者。
Sabbaṃ tamantarahitaṃ, nanu rittā sabbasaṅkhārā’’ti.
「一切皆无中有」,然则一切行皆空无之义。
Tattha kañcanagghiyasaṅkāsoti vividharatanavicittakañcanamayagghikasadisarūpasobho. Dasasahassī virocatīti tassa pabhāya dasasahassīpi lokadhātu virocati, virājatīti attho. Tamevatthaṃ pakāsento bhagavā ‘‘tassa byāmappabhā kāyā, niddhāvati disodisa’’nti āha. Tattha byāmappabhā kāyāti byāmappabhā viyāti byāmappabhā, amhākaṃ bhagavato byāmappabhā viyāti attho.
此中“kañcanagghiyasaṅkāsa”者,谓多种宝金所成金光,宝金块显现华美色泽。其光明达一万恒河沙,于世界诸界亦散发十千倍光辉,谓由此之显耀,称为“无染光”。世尊乃明示此法义而言:“其体状有无染光,光射东方。”此中“无染光体”为我等世尊之无染光体也。
Na kecīti ettha na-kāro paṭisedhattho, tassa ujjālenti-saddena sambandho daṭṭhabbo. Ukkāti daṇḍadīpikā. Ukkā vā padīpe vā kecipi janā na ujjālenti na pajjālenti. Kasmāti ce? Buddhasarīrappabhāya obhāsitattā. Buddharaṃsīhīti buddharasmīhi. Otthaṭāti adhigatā.
「无」非是反对否定,须以“光辉”之声相印证,谓“Ukkāti”为杖灯,“Ukkā”或“Padīpe”或或,众生在杖灯或灯中不显辉光者多为何因?盖因佛身辉光映照之故也。所谓“Buddharasīhi”为佛光之彩,“Otthaṭāti”为所证得者之意。
Uḷūhīti tārāhi, yathā tārāhi gaganatalaṃ vicittaṃ sobhati, tatheva tassa sāsanaṃ arahantehi vicittaṃ upasobhatīti attho. Saṃsārasotaṃ taraṇāyāti saṃsārasāgarassa taraṇatthaṃ. Sesake paṭipannaketi arahante ṭhapetvā kalyāṇaputhujjanehi saddhiṃ sese sekkhapuggaleti attho. Dhammasetunti maggasetuṃ, sesapuggale saṃsārato tāretuṃ dhammasetuṃ ṭhapetvā katasabbakicco hutvā parinibbāyīti attho. Sesaṃ heṭṭhā vuttattā sabbattha uttānamevāti.
“Uḷūhīti”者,如同明星在天空分布照耀,如是法教由阿拉汉众分布光辉。谓“Saṃsārasotaṃ taraṇāyāti”为度脱轮回之流。所谓“Sesake paṭipannaketi”为阿拉汉在世间究竟定住法,连同善弟子共守护故称“余余修行人”。“Dhammasetunti”为法之桥梁,余余众生由此法桥得度出离轮回,已完成诸法事业而入涅槃。下文次第论述通达法义之普遍实相。
