‘‘Carato cepi, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno uppajjati kāmavitakko vā byāpādavitakko vā vihiṃsāvitakko vā. Taṃ ce bhikkhu adhivāseti, nappajahati na vinodeti na byantīkaroti na anabhāvaṃ gameti, carampi, bhikkhave, bhikkhu evaṃbhūto ‘anātāpī anottāpī satataṃ samitaṃ kusīto hīnavīriyo’ti vuccati.
「诸比库!若比库在行走时,生起了欲寻、或嗔恨寻、或伤害寻。若该比库容忍它,不舍断、不驱除、不灭尽、不使之不存在,诸比库!即使在行走,如此的比库被称为『不热诚、不惭愧、常常、持续、懈怠、劣精进者』。」

‘‘Caraṃ vā yadi vā tiṭṭhaṃ, nisinno uda vā sayaṃ;
「行走时或站立时,坐着或躺卧时;
Yo vitakkaṃ vitakketi, pāpakaṃ gehanissitaṃ.
若寻思恶的、依家的寻思。
‘‘Kummaggappaṭipanno so, mohaneyyesu mucchito;
「他是行于邪道者,迷醉于令迷者;
Abhabbo tādiso bhikkhu, phuṭṭhuṃ sambodhimuttamaṃ.
如此的比库无能触证无上正觉。
‘‘Yo ca caraṃ vā tiṭṭhaṃ vā, nisinno uda vā sayaṃ;
「然而行走时或站立时,坐着或躺卧时;
Vitakkaṃ samayitvāna, vitakkūpasame rato;
平息寻思后,乐于寻思的止息;
Bhabbo so tādiso bhikkhu, phuṭṭhuṃ sambodhimuttama’’nti. paṭhamaṃ;
如此的比库有能触证无上正觉。」第一。
2. Sīlasuttaṃ2. 戒经
§12
‘‘Sampannasīlā, bhikkhave, viharatha sampannapātimokkhā, pātimokkhasaṃvarasaṃvutā viharatha ācāragocarasampannā aṇumattesu vajjesu bhayadassāvino. Samādāya sikkhatha sikkhāpadesu. Sampannasīlānaṃ vo, bhikkhave, viharataṃ sampannapātimokkhānaṃ pātimokkhasaṃvarasaṃvutānaṃ viharataṃ ācāragocarasampannānaṃ aṇumattesu vajjesu bhayadassāvīnaṃ samādāya sikkhataṃ sikkhāpadesu kimassa uttari karaṇīyaṃ?
「诸比库,你们应达上而住,具足巴帝摩卡而住,以巴帝摩卡律仪防护而住,具足行处与所行而住,于微细的罪过中见怖畏,受持学习于诸学处。诸比库,对于你们达上而住者、具足巴帝摩卡者、以巴帝摩卡律仪防护而住者、具足行处与所行者、于微细的罪过中见怖畏者、受持学习于诸学处者,还有什么应作的呢?

「诸比库!若比库在行走时,欲欲与嗔恨已离去,昏沉睡眠...掉举追悔...疑已舍断,精进已发起而不懈怠,念已现起而不忘失,身已轻安而不激动,心已得定而一境,诸比库!即使在行走,如此的比库被称为『热诚、炽热、常时、恒时、精进已发起、意已投入』。」

‘‘Yataṃ care yataṃ tiṭṭhe, yataṃ acche yataṃ saye;
「克制地行,克制地站,克制地坐,克制地卧;
Yataṃ samiñjaye bhikkhu, yatamenaṃ pasāraye.
比库克制地屈曲,克制地伸展此身。
‘‘Uddhaṃ tiriyaṃ apācīnaṃ, yāvatā jagato gati;
「上、横、下,凡世间的去处;
Samavekkhitā ca dhammānaṃ, khandhānaṃ udayabbayaṃ.
观察诸法,诸蕴的生灭。」
‘‘Cetosamathasāmīciṃ, sikkhamānaṃ sadā sataṃ;
「常修心寂止之正道,常具念,
Satataṃ pahitattoti, āhu bhikkhuṃ tathāvidha’’nti. dutiyaṃ;
恒常精勤者,他们称此比库为如是之人。」第二。
3. Padhānasuttaṃ3. 精勤经
§13
‘‘Cattārimāni, bhikkhave, sammappadhānāni. Katamāni cattāri? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu anuppannānaṃ pāpakānaṃ akusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ anuppādāya chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati; uppannānaṃ pāpakānaṃ akusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ pahānāya chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati; anuppannānaṃ kusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ uppādāya chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati; uppannānaṃ kusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ ṭhitiyā asammosāya bhiyyobhāvāya vepullāya bhāvanāya pāripūriyā chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati. Imāni kho, bhikkhave, cattāri sammappadhānānī’’ti.
「诸比库,有此四正勤。哪四种?诸比库,于此,比库为了未生之诸恶不善法的不生起,生起欲,努力,发起精进,策励心,勤奋;为了已生之诸恶不善法的断除,生起欲,努力,发起精进,策励心,勤奋;为了未生之诸善法的生起,生起欲,努力,发起精进,策励心,勤奋;为了已生之诸善法的住立、不忘失、增长、广大、修习、圆满,生起欲,努力,发起精进,策励心,勤奋。诸比库,这些是四正勤。」
‘‘Sammappadhānā māradheyyābhibhūtā,
「以正勤征服魔境者,
Te asitā jātimaraṇabhayassa pāragū;
他们未被食,到达生死怖畏之彼岸;
Te tusitā jetvā māraṃ savāhiniṃ te anejā,
他们满足,战胜魔与其军队,他们无动,
Sabbaṃ namucibalaṃ upātivattā te sukhitā’’ti. tatiyaṃ;
超越一切死魔之力,他们安乐。」第三。
4. Saṃvarasuttaṃ4. 律仪经
§14
‘‘Cattārimāni , bhikkhave, padhānāni. Katamāni cattāri? Saṃvarappadhānaṃ, pahānappadhānaṃ, bhāvanāppadhānaṃ, anurakkhaṇāppadhānaṃ. Katamañca, bhikkhave, saṃvarappadhānaṃ? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu cakkhunā rūpaṃ disvā na nimittaggāhī hoti nānubyañjanaggāhī. Yatvādhikaraṇamenaṃ cakkhundriyaṃ asaṃvutaṃ viharantaṃ abhijjhādomanassā pāpakā akusalā dhammā anvāssaveyyuṃ , tassa saṃvarāya paṭipajjati, rakkhati cakkhundriyaṃ, cakkhundriye saṃvaraṃ āpajjati. Sotena saddaṃ sutvā… ghānena gandhaṃ ghāyitvā… jivhāya rasaṃ sāyitvā… kāyena phoṭṭhabbaṃ phusitvā… manasā dhammaṃ viññāya na nimittaggāhī hoti nānubyañjanaggāhī, yatvādhikaraṇamenaṃ manindriyaṃ asaṃvutaṃ viharantaṃ abhijjhādomanassā pāpakā akusalā dhammā anvāssaveyyuṃ, tassa saṃvarāya paṭipajjati, rakkhati manindriyaṃ, manindriye saṃvaraṃ āpajjati. Idaṃ vuccati, bhikkhave, saṃvarappadhānaṃ.
「诸比库,有此四勤。哪四种?防护勤、断除勤、修习勤、守护勤。诸比库,什么是防护勤?诸比库,于此,比库以眼见色后,不取相,不取随相。因为若住于不防护此眼根者,贪忧、诸恶不善法会流入,他为了其防护而行道,保护眼根,在眼根上达到防护。以耳闻声后……以鼻嗅香后……以舌尝味后……以身触所触后……以意识法后,不取相,不取随相,因为若住于不防护此意根者,贪忧、诸恶不善法会流入,他为了其防护而行道,保护意根,在意根上达到防护。诸比库,这称为防护勤。
‘‘Katamañca, bhikkhave, pahānappadhānaṃ? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu uppannaṃ kāmavitakkaṃ nādhivāseti pajahati vinodeti byantīkaroti anabhāvaṃ gameti; uppannaṃ byāpādavitakkaṃ…pe… uppannaṃ vihiṃsāvitakkaṃ…pe… uppannuppanne pāpake akusale dhamme nādhivāseti pajahati vinodeti byantīkaroti anabhāvaṃ gameti. Idaṃ vuccati, bhikkhave, pahānappadhānaṃ.
「诸比库,什么是断精进?诸比库,于此,比库对已生起的欲寻不容忍,断除、驱除、灭除、使之不存在;对已生起的嗔寻……对已生起的害寻……对已生起的诸恶不善法不容忍,断除、驱除、灭除、使之不存在。诸比库,这称为断精进。」
‘‘Katamañca, bhikkhave, bhāvanāppadhānaṃ? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu satisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti vivekanissitaṃ virāganissitaṃ nirodhanissitaṃ vossaggapariṇāmiṃ, dhammavicayasambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… vīriyasambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… pītisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… passaddhisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… samādhisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… upekkhāsambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti vivekanissitaṃ virāganissitaṃ nirodhanissitaṃ vossaggapariṇāmiṃ. Idaṃ vuccati, bhikkhave, bhāvanāppadhānaṃ.
「诸比库,什么是修习精进?诸比库,于此,比库修习依远离、依离贪、依灭、转向舍遣的念觉支,修习择法觉支……修习精进觉支……修习喜觉支……修习轻安觉支……修习定觉支……修习依远离、依离贪、依灭、转向舍遣的舍觉支。诸比库,这称为修习精进。」
‘‘Katamañca , bhikkhave, anurakkhaṇāppadhānaṃ? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu uppannaṃ bhaddakaṃ samādhinimittaṃ anurakkhati aṭṭhikasaññaṃ puḷavakasaññaṃ vinīlakasaññaṃ vicchiddakasaññaṃ uddhumātakasaññaṃ. Idaṃ vuccati, bhikkhave, anurakkhaṇāppadhānaṃ. Imāni kho, bhikkhave, cattāri padhānānī’’ti.
「诸比库,什么是防护精进?诸比库,于此,比库防护已生起的善定相——骨想、虫食想、青瘀想、断坏想、膨胀想。诸比库,这称为防护精进。诸比库,这些是四精进。」
‘‘Saṃvaro ca pahānañca, bhāvanā anurakkhaṇā;
「防护与断除,修习与防护;」
Ete padhānā cattāro, desitādiccabandhunā;
「这四种精进,由太阳族亲所教导;」
Yehi bhikkhu idhātāpī, khayaṃ dukkhassa pāpuṇe’’ti. catutthaṃ;
「比库在此热诚地依此,能达到苦的灭尽。」第四经。
5. Paññattisuttaṃ5. 施设经
§15
‘‘Catasso imā, bhikkhave, aggapaññattiyo. Katamā catasso? Etadaggaṃ, bhikkhave, attabhāvīnaṃ yadidaṃ – rāhu asurindo. Etadaggaṃ, bhikkhave, kāmabhogīnaṃ yadidaṃ – rājā mandhātā. Etadaggaṃ, bhikkhave, ādhipateyyānaṃ yadidaṃ – māro pāpimā. Sadevake, bhikkhave, loke samārake sabrahmake sassamaṇabrāhmaṇiyā pajāya sadevamanussāya tathāgato aggamakkhāyati arahaṃ sammāsambuddho. Imā kho, bhikkhave, catasso aggapaññattiyo’’ti.
「诸比库,有这四种最上施设。哪四种?诸比库,在诸有身者中,这是最上——即阿修罗王拉胡。诸比库,在诸欲乐享受者中,这是最上——即曼陀多王。诸比库,在诸支配者中,这是最上——即恶魔魔罗。诸比库,在含天的世间、含魔的世间、含梵天的世间、含沙门婆罗门的世代、含天人的世代中,如来、阿拉汉、正等正觉者被称为最上。诸比库,这些是四种最上施设。」
‘‘Rāhuggaṃ attabhāvīnaṃ, mandhātā kāmabhoginaṃ;
「拉胡是诸有身者中最上,曼陀多是诸欲乐享受者中最上;」
Māro ādhipateyyānaṃ, iddhiyā yasasā jalaṃ.
魔是主宰者,以神通、名声为网。
‘‘Uddhaṃ tiriyaṃ apācīnaṃ, yāvatā jagato gati;
上、横、下,凡世间所趣之处;
Sadevakassa lokassa, buddho aggo pavuccatī’’ti. pañcamaṃ;
于含天之世间,佛陀被称为最上。」第五经
6. Sokhummasuttaṃ6. 微细经

‘‘Cattārimāni, bhikkhave, sokhummāni. Katamāni cattāri? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu rūpasokhummena samannāgato hoti paramena; tena ca rūpasokhummena aññaṃ rūpasokhummaṃ uttaritaraṃ vā paṇītataraṃ vā na samanupassati; tena ca rūpasokhummena aññaṃ rūpasokhummaṃ uttaritaraṃ vā paṇītataraṃ vā na pattheti. Vedanāsokhummena samannāgato hoti paramena; tena ca vedanāsokhummena aññaṃ vedanāsokhummaṃ uttaritaraṃ vā paṇītataraṃ vā na samanupassati; tena ca vedanāsokhummena aññaṃ vedanāsokhummaṃ uttaritaraṃ vā paṇītataraṃ vā na pattheti. Saññāsokhummena samannāgato hoti paramena; tena ca saññāsokhummena aññaṃ saññāsokhummaṃ uttaritaraṃ vā paṇītataraṃ vā na samanupassati; tena ca saññāsokhummena aññaṃ saññāsokhummaṃ uttaritaraṃ vā paṇītataraṃ vā na pattheti. Saṅkhārasokhummena samannāgato hoti paramena; tena ca saṅkhārasokhummena aññaṃ saṅkhārasokhummaṃ uttaritaraṃ vā paṇītataraṃ vā na samanupassati; tena ca saṅkhārasokhummena aññaṃ saṅkhārasokhummaṃ uttaritaraṃ vā paṇītataraṃ vā na pattheti. Imāni kho, bhikkhave, cattāri sokhummānī’’ti.
「诸比库,有此等四种细。何等为四?诸比库,于此,比库具足最上的色细;以彼色细,他不见其他更殊胜或更微妙的色细;以彼色细,他不希求其他更殊胜或更微妙的色细。他具足最上的受细;以彼受细,他不见其他更殊胜或更微妙的受细;以彼受细,他不希求其他更殊胜或更微妙的受细。他具足最上的想细;以彼想细,他不见其他更殊胜或更微妙的想细;以彼想细,他不希求其他更殊胜或更微妙的想细。他具足最上的行细;以彼行细,他不见其他更殊胜或更微妙的行细;以彼行细,他不希求其他更殊胜或更微妙的行细。诸比库,此等为四种细。」
‘‘Rūpasokhummataṃ ñatvā, vedanānañca sambhavaṃ;

‘‘Catūhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato bhattuddesako yathābhataṃ nikkhitto evaṃ niraye. Katamehi catūhi? Chandāgatiṃ gacchati, dosāgatiṃ gacchati, mohāgatiṃ gacchati, bhayāgatiṃ gacchati – imehi kho, bhikkhave, catūhi dhammehi samannāgato bhattuddesako yathābhataṃ nikkhitto evaṃ niraye.
「诸比库,具足四法的食物分配者,如被投掷般地在地狱。哪四种?因欲而误入,因嗔而误入,因痴而误入,因怖畏而误入——诸比库,具足这四法的食物分配者,如被投掷般地在地狱。
‘‘Catūhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato bhattuddesako yathābhataṃ nikkhitto evaṃ sagge. Katamehi catūhi? Na chandāgatiṃ gacchati, na dosāgatiṃ gacchati, na mohāgatiṃ gacchati, na bhayāgatiṃ gacchati – imehi kho, bhikkhave, catūhi dhammehi samannāgato bhattuddesako yathābhataṃ nikkhitto evaṃ sagge’’ti.

‘‘Ye keci kāmesu asaññatā janā,
「凡于诸欲中不自制的人们,
Adhammikā honti adhammagāravā;
他们是非法者,不尊重法;
Chandā dosā mohā ca bhayā gāmino ,
随欲、嗔、痴、怖畏而行,
Parisākasaṭo ca panesa vuccati.
此人被称为众会之垢。
‘‘Evañhi vuttaṃ samaṇena jānatā,
「如此,确实为知者沙门所说,
Tasmā hi te sappurisā pasaṃsiyā;
因此,那些善人应受赞叹;
Dhamme ṭhitā ye na karonti pāpakaṃ,
住于法者,他们不作恶,
Na chandā na dosā na mohā na bhayā ca gāmino ;
不随欲、不随嗔、不随痴、不随怖畏而行;
