§124
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘bhikkhavo’’ti. ‘‘Bhadante’’ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca –
如是我闻——一时,世尊住在沙瓦提城揭德林给孤独园。在那里,世尊称呼诸比库:「诸比库。」「尊者。」那些比库回答世尊。世尊说此:
‘‘Anamataggoyaṃ bhikkhave, saṃsāro. Pubbā koṭi na paññāyati avijjānīvaraṇānaṃ sattānaṃ taṇhāsaṃyojanānaṃ sandhāvataṃ saṃsarataṃ. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, puriso yaṃ imasmiṃ jambudīpe tiṇakaṭṭhasākhāpalāsaṃ taṃ chetvā ekajjhaṃ saṃharitvā caturaṅgulaṃ caturaṅgulaṃ ghaṭikaṃ katvā nikkhipeyya – ‘ayaṃ me mātā, tassā me mātu ayaṃ mātā’ti, apariyādinnāva bhikkhave, tassa purisassa mātumātaro assu, atha imasmiṃ jambudīpe tiṇakaṭṭhasākhāpalāsaṃ parikkhayaṃ pariyādānaṃ gaccheyya. Taṃ kissa hetu? Anamataggoyaṃ, bhikkhave, saṃsāro. Pubbā koṭi na paññāyati avijjānīvaraṇānaṃ sattānaṃ taṇhāsaṃyojanānaṃ sandhāvataṃ saṃsarataṃ. Evaṃ dīgharattaṃ vo, bhikkhave, dukkhaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ tibbaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ byasanaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ, kaṭasī vaḍḍhitā. Yāvañcidaṃ, bhikkhave, alameva sabbasaṅkhāresu nibbindituṃ alaṃ virajjituṃ alaṃ vimuccitu’’nti. Paṭhamaṃ.
「诸比库,此轮回无始。被无明所盖、被渴爱所系缚的有情们流转轮回,其前际不可知。诸比库,譬如有人将此阎浮提的草、木、枝、叶砍下,集于一处,做成四指、四指的木片后放置,说:『这是我的母亲,这是我母亲的母亲』,诸比库,那人的母亲的母亲们还未穷尽,而此阎浮提的草、木、枝、叶就会耗尽、用完。那是什么原因?诸比库,此轮回无始。被无明所盖、被渴爱所系缚的有情们流转轮回,其前际不可知。诸比库,如此长时,你们经历了苦,经历了剧烈,经历了不幸,增长了墓地。诸比库,仅此就足以对一切诸行厌离,足以离贪,足以解脱。」第一经。
2. Pathavīsuttaṃ2. 地经

Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati…pe… ‘‘anamataggoyaṃ, bhikkhave , saṃsāro. Pubbā koṭi na paññāyati avijjānīvaraṇānaṃ sattānaṃ taṇhāsaṃyojanānaṃ sandhāvataṃ saṃsarataṃ. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, puriso imaṃ mahāpathaviṃ kolaṭṭhimattaṃ kolaṭṭhimattaṃ mattikāguḷikaṃ karitvā nikkhipeyya – ‘ayaṃ me pitā, tassa me pitu ayaṃ pitā’ti, apariyādinnāva bhikkhave, tassa purisassa pitupitaro assu, athāyaṃ mahāpathavī parikkhayaṃ pariyādānaṃ gaccheyya . Taṃ kissa hetu? Anamataggoyaṃ, bhikkhave, saṃsāro. Pubbā koṭi na paññāyati avijjānīvaraṇānaṃ sattānaṃ taṇhāsaṃyojanānaṃ sandhāvataṃ saṃsarataṃ. 住在沙瓦提城……「诸比库,此轮回无始。被无明所盖、被渴爱所系缚的有情们流转轮回,其前际不可知。诸比库,譬如有人将此大地做成枣核大、枣核大的泥丸后放置,说:『这是我的父亲,这是我父亲的父亲』,诸比库,那人的父亲的父亲们还未穷尽,而此大地就会耗尽、用完。那是什么原因?诸比库,此轮回无始。被无明所盖、被渴爱所系缚的有情们流转轮回,其前际不可知。诸比库,如此长时,你们经历了苦,经历了剧烈,经历了不幸,增长了墓地。诸比库,仅此就足以对一切诸行厌离,足以离贪,足以解脱。」第二经。

‘‘Sādhu sādhu, bhikkhave, sādhu kho me tumhe, bhikkhave, evaṃ dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānātha. Etadeva, bhikkhave, bahutaraṃ yaṃ vo iminā dīghena addhunā sandhāvataṃ saṃsarataṃ amanāpasampayogā manāpavippayogā kandantānaṃ rodantānaṃ assu passannaṃ paggharitaṃ, na tveva catūsu mahāsamuddesu udakaṃ. Dīgharattaṃ vo, bhikkhave, mātumaraṇaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ; tesaṃ vā mātumaraṇaṃ paccanubhontānaṃ amanāpasampayogā manāpavippayogā kandantānaṃ rodantānaṃ assu passannaṃ paggharitaṃ, na tveva catūsu mahāsamuddesu udakaṃ. Dīgharattaṃ vo, bhikkhave, pitumaraṇaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ …pe… bhātumaraṇaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ… bhaginimaraṇaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ… puttamaraṇaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ… dhītumaraṇaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ… ñātibyasanaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ… bhogabyasanaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ. Dīgharattaṃ vo, bhikkhave , rogabyasanaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ, tesaṃ vo rogabyasanaṃ paccanubhontānaṃ amanāpasampayogā manāpavippayogā kandantānaṃ rodantānaṃ assu passannaṃ paggharitaṃ, na tveva catūsu mahāsamuddesu udakaṃ. Taṃ kissa hetu? Anamataggoyaṃ, bhikkhave, saṃsāro …pe… yāvañcidaṃ, bhikkhave, alameva sabbasaṅkhāresu nibbindituṃ, alaṃ virajjituṃ, alaṃ vimuccitu’’nti. Tatiyaṃ.
「善哉,善哉,诸比库,诸比库,你们如此了知我所说之法,善哉。诸比库,这个较多:你们在此长时流转轮回,与不喜者结合、与喜者分离而哭泣、悲泣时所流的眼泪,而非四大海中的水。诸比库,长时你们经历了母亲的死亡;当经历那些母亲的死亡时,与不喜者结合、与喜者分离而哭泣、悲泣时所流的眼泪,而非四大海中的水。诸比库,长时你们经历了父亲的死亡……经历了兄弟的死亡……经历了姐妹的死亡……经历了儿子的死亡……经历了女儿的死亡……经历了亲族的不幸……经历了财富的不幸。诸比库,长时你们经历了疾病的不幸,当你们经历疾病的不幸时,与不喜者结合、与喜者分离而哭泣、悲泣时所流的眼泪,而非四大海中的水。那是什么原因?诸比库,此轮回无始……诸比库,仅此就足以对一切诸行厌离,足以离贪,足以解脱。」第三经。
4. Khīrasuttaṃ4. 乳经
§127
Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati…pe… ‘‘anamataggoyaṃ, bhikkhave, saṃsāro. Pubbā koṭi na paññāyati avijjānīvaraṇānaṃ sattānaṃ taṇhāsaṃyojanānaṃ sandhāvataṃ saṃsarataṃ. Taṃ kiṃ maññatha, bhikkhave, katamaṃ nu kho bahutaraṃ, yaṃ vā vo iminā dīghena addhunā sandhāvataṃ saṃsarataṃ mātuthaññaṃ pītaṃ, yaṃ vā catūsu mahāsamuddesu udaka’’nti? ‘‘Yathā kho mayaṃ , bhante, bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāma, etadeva, bhante, bahutaraṃ yaṃ no iminā dīghena addhunā sandhāvataṃ saṃsarataṃ mātuthaññaṃ pītaṃ, na tveva catūsu mahāsamuddesu udaka’’nti.

5. Pabbatasuttaṃ5. 山经
§128
Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati…pe… ārāme. Atha kho aññataro bhikkhu yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho so bhikkhu bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘kīvadīgho nu kho, bhante, kappo’’ti? ‘‘Dīgho kho, bhikkhu, kappo. So na sukaro saṅkhātuṃ ettakāni vassāni iti vā, ettakāni vassasatāni iti vā, ettakāni vassasahassāni iti vā, ettakāni vassasatasahassāni iti vā’’ti.
住在沙瓦提……园。那时,某位比库去到世尊那里;到了之后,礼敬世尊,坐在一边。坐在一边的那位比库对世尊如此说:「尊者,劫有多长呢?」「比库,劫是长的。那不容易计算为:这么多年,或这么多百年,或这么多千年,或这么多十万年。」
‘‘Sakkā pana, bhante, upamaṃ kātu’’nti? ‘‘Sakkā, bhikkhū’’ti bhagavā avoca. ‘‘Seyyathāpi , bhikkhu, mahāselo pabbato yojanaṃ āyāmena yojanaṃ vitthārena yojanaṃ ubbedhena acchinno asusiro ekagghano. Tamenaṃ puriso vassasatassa vassasatassa accayena kāsikena vatthena sakiṃ sakiṃ parimajjeyya. Khippataraṃ kho so, bhikkhu, mahāselo pabbato iminā upakkamena parikkhayaṃ pariyādānaṃ gaccheyya , na tveva kappo. Evaṃ dīgho, bhikkhu, kappo. Evaṃ dīghānaṃ kho, bhikkhu , kappānaṃ neko kappo saṃsito, nekaṃ kappasataṃ saṃsitaṃ, nekaṃ kappasahassaṃ saṃsitaṃ, nekaṃ kappasatasahassaṃ saṃsitaṃ. Taṃ kissa hetu? Anamataggoyaṃ, bhikkhu, saṃsāro. Pubbā koṭi…pe… yāvañcidaṃ, bhikkhu, alameva sabbasaṅkhāresu nibbindituṃ, alaṃ virajjituṃ, alaṃ vimuccitu’’nti. Pañcamaṃ.
「尊者,但能作譬喻吗?」「能,比库。」世尊说:「比库,譬如有一座大石山,长一由旬,宽一由旬,高一由旬,无缺、无孔、一块整体。有人每过一百年,用咖尸咖衣擦拭它一次。比库,以此方法,那座大石山会更快地耗尽、消失,而劫却不会。比库,劫是如此长。比库,如此长的劫,已经轮回了不只一劫,不只一百劫,不只一千劫,不只十万劫。那是什么原因呢?比库,此轮回无始。被无明所盖、被渴爱所系的众生,流转轮回,前际不可知……比库,仅此就足以对一切诸行厌离,足以离贪,足以解脱。」第五。
6. Sāsapasuttaṃ6. 芥子经
§129
Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati. Atha kho aññataro bhikkhu yena bhagavā…pe… ekamantaṃ nisinno kho so bhikkhu bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘kīvadīgho, nu kho, bhante, kappo’’ti? ‘‘Dīgho kho, bhikkhu, kappo. So na sukaro saṅkhātuṃ ettakāni vassāni iti vā…pe… ettakāni vassasatasahassāni iti vā’’ti.
住在沙瓦提。那时,某位比库去到世尊那里……坐在一边的那位比库对世尊如此说:「尊者,劫有多长呢?」「比库,劫是长的。那不容易计算为:这么多年,或……或这么多十万年。」
‘‘Sakkā pana, bhante, upamaṃ kātu’’nti? ‘‘Sakkā, bhikkhū’’ti bhagavā avoca. ‘‘Seyyathāpi, bhikkhu, āyasaṃ nagaraṃ yojanaṃ āyāmena yojanaṃ vitthārena yojanaṃ ubbedhena, puṇṇaṃ sāsapānaṃ guḷikābaddhaṃ . Tato puriso vassasatassa vassasatassa accayena ekamekaṃ sāsapaṃ uddhareyya. Khippataraṃ kho so, bhikkhu mahāsāsaparāsi iminā upakkamena parikkhayaṃ pariyādānaṃ gaccheyya, na tveva kappo. Evaṃ dīgho kho, bhikkhu, kappo. Evaṃ dīghānaṃ kho, bhikkhu, kappānaṃ neko kappo saṃsito, nekaṃ kappasataṃ saṃsitaṃ, nekaṃ kappasahassaṃ saṃsitaṃ, nekaṃ kappasatasahassaṃ saṃsitaṃ. Taṃ kissa hetu? Anamataggoyaṃ, bhikkhu, saṃsāro …pe… alaṃ vimuccitu’’nti. Chaṭṭhaṃ.
「尊者,但能作譬喻吗?」「能,比库。」世尊说:「比库,譬如有一座铁城,长一由旬,宽一由旬,高一由旬,充满芥子,堆积成团。有人每过一百年,从中取出一粒芥子。比库,以此方法,那大芥子堆会更快地耗尽、消失,而劫却不会。比库,劫是如此长。比库,如此长的劫,已经轮回了不只一劫,不只一百劫,不只一千劫,不只十万劫。那是什么原因呢?比库,此轮回无始……足以解脱。」第六。
7. Sāvakasuttaṃ7. 弟子经

Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati. Atha kho sambahulā bhikkhū yena bhagavā…pe… ekamantaṃ nisinnā kho te bhikkhū bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘kīvabahukā nu kho, bhante, kappā abbhatītā atikkantā’’ti? ‘‘Bahukā kho, bhikkhave , kappā abbhatītā atikkantā. Te na sukarā saṅkhātuṃ – ‘ettakā kappā iti vā, ettakāni kappasatāni iti vā, ettakāni kappasahassāni iti vā, ettakāni kappasatasahassāni iti vā’’’ti.
住在沙瓦提。那时,众多比库去到世尊那里……坐在一边的那些比库对世尊如此说:「尊者,有多少劫已经过去、已经逝去呢?」「诸比库,已经过去、已经逝去的劫是众多的。那些不容易计算为:这么多劫,或这么多百劫,或这么多千劫,或这么多十万劫。」
‘‘Sakkā pana, bhante, upamaṃ kātu’’nti? ‘‘Sakkā, bhikkhave’’ti bhagavā avoca. ‘‘Idhassu, bhikkhave, cattāro sāvakā vassasatāyukā vassasatajīvino. Te divase divase kappasatasahassaṃ kappasatasahassaṃ anussareyyuṃ. Ananussaritāva bhikkhave, tehi kappā assu, atha kho te cattāro sāvakā vassasatāyukā vassasatajīvino vassasatassa accayena kālaṃ kareyyuṃ. Evaṃ bahukā kho, bhikkhave, kappā abbhatītā atikkantā. Te na sukarā saṅkhātuṃ – ‘ettakā kappā iti vā, ettakāni kappasatāni iti vā, ettakāni kappasahassāni iti vā, ettakāni kappasatasahassāni iti vā’ti. Taṃ kissa hetu? Anamataggoyaṃ, bhikkhave, saṃsāro…pe… alaṃ vimuccitu’’nti. Sattamaṃ.
「尊者,但能作譬喻吗?」「能,诸比库。」世尊说:「诸比库,假如这里有四位弟子,寿命百岁,活一百年。他们每天忆念十万劫、十万劫。诸比库,那些劫还未被他们忆念完,然后那四位弟子,寿命百岁,活一百年,在一百年过去后,就会死亡。诸比库,已经过去、已经逝去的劫是如此众多。那些不容易计算为:这么多劫,或这么多百劫,或这么多千劫,或这么多十万劫。那是什么原因呢?诸比库,此轮回无始……足以解脱。」第七。
8. Gaṅgāsuttaṃ8. 恒河经
§131
Rājagahe viharati veḷuvane. Atha kho aññataro brāhmaṇo yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavatā saddhiṃ sammodi. Sammodanīyaṃ kathaṃ sāraṇīyaṃ vītisāretvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho so brāhmaṇo bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘kīvabahukā nu kho, bho gotama, kappā abbhatītā atikkantā’’ti? ‘‘Bahukā kho, brāhmaṇa, kappā abbhatītā atikkantā. Te na sukarā saṅkhātuṃ – ‘ettakā kappā iti vā, ettakāni kappasatāni iti vā, ettakāni kappasahassāni iti vā, ettakāni kappasatasahassāni iti vā’’’ti.
住在王舍城竹林。那时,某位婆罗门去到世尊那里;到了之后,与世尊互相问候。交换了友好、值得忆念的谈话后,坐在一边。坐在一边的那位婆罗门对世尊如此说:「果德玛尊者,有多少劫已经过去、已经逝去呢?」「婆罗门,已经过去、已经逝去的劫是众多的。那些不容易计算为:这么多劫,或这么多百劫,或这么多千劫,或这么多十万劫。」
‘‘Sakkā pana, bho gotama, upamaṃ kātu’’nti? ‘‘Sakkā, brāhmaṇā’’ti bhagavā avoca. ‘‘Seyyathāpi, brāhmaṇa, yato cāyaṃ gaṅgā nadī pabhavati yattha ca mahāsamuddaṃ appeti, yā etasmiṃ antare vālikā sā na sukarā saṅkhātuṃ – ‘ettakā vālikā iti vā, ettakāni vālikasatāni iti vā, ettakāni vālikasahassāni iti vā, ettakāni vālikasatasahassāni iti vā’ti. Tato bahutarā kho, brāhmaṇa, kappā abbhatītā atikkantā. Te na sukarā saṅkhātuṃ – ‘ettakā kappā iti vā, ettakāni kappasatāni iti vā, ettakāni kappasahassāni iti vā, ettakāni kappasatasahassāni iti vā’ti. Taṃ kissa hetu? Anamataggoyaṃ, brāhmaṇa, saṃsāro. Pubbā koṭi na paññāyati avijjānīvaraṇānaṃ sattānaṃ taṇhāsaṃyojanānaṃ sandhāvataṃ saṃsarataṃ. Evaṃ dīgharattaṃ kho, brāhmaṇa, dukkhaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ tibbaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ byasanaṃ paccanubhūtaṃ, kaṭasī vaḍḍhitā. Yāvañcidaṃ , brāhmaṇa, alameva sabbasaṅkhāresu nibbindituṃ, alaṃ virajjituṃ, alaṃ vimuccitu’’nti.
「果德玛尊者,但能作譬喻吗?」「能,婆罗门。」世尊说:「婆罗门,譬如从恒河发源之处到它流入大海之处,在这之间的沙粒,不容易计算为:这么多沙粒,或这么多百沙粒,或这么多千沙粒,或这么多十万沙粒。婆罗门,已经过去、已经逝去的劫比那更多。那些不容易计算为:这么多劫,或这么多百劫,或这么多千劫,或这么多十万劫。那是什么原因呢?婆罗门,此轮回无始。被无明所盖、被渴爱所系的众生,流转轮回,前际不可知。婆罗门,如此长久地,已经体验了苦,已经体验了剧苦,已经体验了不幸,坟场已增长。婆罗门,仅此就足以对一切诸行厌离,足以离贪,足以解脱。」
Evaṃ vutte, so brāhmaṇo bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘abhikkantaṃ, bho gotama, abhikkantaṃ, bho gotama…pe… upāsakaṃ maṃ bhavaṃ gotamo dhāretu ajjatagge pāṇupetaṃ saraṇaṃ gata’’nti. Aṭṭhamaṃ.
如是说已,那位婆罗门对世尊如此说:「尊敬的果德玛,太殊胜了!尊敬的果德玛,太殊胜了!……(中略)……愿尊敬的果德玛忆持我为近事男,从今日起终生归依。」第八经。
9. Daṇḍasuttaṃ9. 杖经

Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati…pe… ‘‘anamataggoyaṃ, bhikkhave, saṃsāro. Pubbā koṭi na paññāyati avijjānīvaraṇānaṃ sattānaṃ taṇhāsaṃyojanānaṃ sandhāvataṃ saṃsarataṃ. 一时,世尊住在王舍城灵鹫山。在那里,世尊称呼诸比库:「诸比库。」「尊者。」那些比库回答世尊。世尊如此说:
‘‘Anamataggoyaṃ , bhikkhave, saṃsāro…pe… ekapuggalassa, bhikkhave, kappaṃ sandhāvato saṃsarato siyā evaṃ mahā aṭṭhikaṅkalo aṭṭhipuñjo aṭṭhirāsi yathāyaṃ vepullo pabbato, sace saṃhārako assa, sambhatañca na vinasseyya. Taṃ kissa hetu? Anamataggoyaṃ, bhikkhave, saṃsāro…pe… alaṃ vimuccitu’’nti.
「诸比库,此轮回无始……(中略)……诸比库,一个补特伽罗在一劫中流转轮回,若有收集者,所集而不坏失的话,会有如此大的骨骸堆、骨堆、骨山,如同这韦布喇山。那是什么原因呢?诸比库,此轮回无始……(中略)……足以厌离、离欲、解脱。」

会有如山般的堆积,大仙如此说。

「善哉!善哉!诸比库!善哉!诸比库!你们如此了知我所说之法。诸比库!这较多:你们在此长时中流转轮回,被斩首者的血流出、流淌,而非四大海中的水。诸比库!长时中,你们作为牛群中的牛,被斩首者的血流出、流淌,而非四大海中的水。诸比库!长时中,你们作为水牛群中的水牛,被斩首者的血流出、流淌……长时中,你们作为羊群中的羊……作为山羊群中的山羊……作为鹿群中的鹿……作为鸡群中的鸡……作为猪群中的猪……长时中,你们被捉为『村庄破坏者』的盗贼,被斩首者的血流出、流淌。长时中,你们被捉为『拦路贼』的盗贼,被斩首者的血流出、流淌。长时中,你们被捉为『通奸者』的盗贼,被斩首者的血流出、流淌,而非四大海中的水。那是什么原因?诸比库!此轮回无始……足以解脱。」
‘‘Idamavoca bhagavā. Attamanā te bhikkhū bhagavato bhāsitaṃ abhinandunti. Imasmiñca pana veyyākaraṇasmiṃ bhaññamāne tiṃsamattānaṃ pāveyyakānaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ anupādāya āsavehi cittāni vimucciṃsū’’ti. Tatiyaṃ.

「诸比库,此轮回是无始的。被无明所盖、被渴爱所系的有情们流转轮回,其先前的边际不可知。诸比库,过去世,此韦布喇山被称为『巴奇那瓦萨』。诸比库,那时,人们被称为『提瓦拉』。诸比库,提瓦拉人的寿量是四万岁。诸比库,提瓦拉人用四天登上巴奇那瓦萨山,用四天下来。诸比库,那时,咖古桑德世尊、阿拉汉、正等正觉者出现于世间。诸比库,咖古桑德世尊、阿拉汉、正等正觉者有名为维度拉与桑吉瓦的一对弟子,是最上的、殊胜的一对。诸比库,你们看,此山的名称已消失,那些人已死去,那位世尊已般涅槃。诸比库,诸行如此无常;诸比库,诸行如此不坚固;诸比库,诸行如此不可依靠。诸比库,仅此即足以对一切诸行厌离,足以离贪,足以解脱。」

Tena kho pana, bhikkhave, samayena koṇāgamano bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho loke uppanno hoti. Koṇāgamanassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa bhiyyosuttaraṃ nāma sāvakayugaṃ ahosi aggaṃ bhaddayugaṃ. Tena kho pana, bhikkhave, samayena kassapo bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho loke uppanno hoti. Kassapassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa tissabhāradvājaṃ nāma sāvakayugaṃ ahosi aggaṃ bhaddayugaṃ. Māgadhakānaṃ, bhikkhave, manussānaṃ appakaṃ āyuppamāṇaṃ parittaṃ lahukaṃ ; yo ciraṃ jīvati so vassasataṃ appaṃ vā bhiyyo. Māgadhakā, bhikkhave, manussā vepullaṃ pabbataṃ muhuttena ārohanti muhuttena orohanti. Etarahi kho panāhaṃ, bhikkhave, arahaṃ sammāsambuddho loke uppanno. Mayhaṃ kho pana, bhikkhave, sāriputtamoggallānaṃ nāma sāvakayugaṃ aggaṃ bhaddayugaṃ. Bhavissati, bhikkhave, so samayo yā ayañcevimassa pabbatassa samaññā antaradhāyissati, ime ca manussā kālaṃ karissanti, ahañca parinibbāyissāmi. Evaṃ aniccā, bhikkhave, saṅkhārā; evaṃ addhuvā, bhikkhave, saṅkhārā; evaṃ anassāsikā, bhikkhave, saṅkhārā. Yāvañcidaṃ, bhikkhave, alameva sabbasaṅkhāresu nibbindituṃ, alaṃ virajjituṃ, alaṃ vimuccitu’’nti.
「诸比库!现在,这韦普拉山的名称为『韦普拉』。诸比库!现在,这些人的名称为『马嘎塔人』。诸比库!马嘎塔人的寿量少、短、轻;长寿者活百岁或稍多一点。诸比库!马嘎塔人以须臾登上韦普拉山,以须臾下来。诸比库!现在我是阿拉汉、正等正觉者出现于世间。诸比库!我有名为沙利子与摩嘎剌那的弟子双,为最上的、吉祥的双。诸比库!将有那时候,这山的名称将消失,这些人将死去,我将般涅槃。诸比库!诸行如此无常;诸比库!诸行如此不坚固;诸比库!诸行如此不可依靠。诸比库!仅此即足以厌离一切行,足以离贪,足以解脱。」
Idamavoca bhagavā. Idaṃ vatvāna sugato athāparaṃ etadavoca satthā –
世尊说此。说此已,善逝、导师又说此:
‘‘Pācīnavaṃso tivarānaṃ, rohitassāna vaṅkako;
「帝瓦拉人的巴吉那旺所,罗希答沙人的弯咖咖;
Suppiyānaṃ supassoti, māgadhānañca vepullo.
苏比亚人的苏巴所,马嘎塔人的韦普拉。
‘‘Aniccā vata saṅkhārā, uppādavayadhammino;
「诸行实无常,是生灭之法;
Uppajjitvā nirujjhanti, tesaṃ vūpasamo sukho’’ti. dasamaṃ;
