21. Yakkhavañcita vatthumhi ayamānupubbīkathā
21. 在亚卡所欺诳之事中,此为递次说明。
Bhagavati parinibbutamhi kosalarañño kira janapade tuṇḍagāmonāma ahosi. Tattheko buddhadāso nāma manusso ‘‘yāvajīvaṃ buddhaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmi. Buddho me saraṇaṃ tāṇaṃ leṇaṃ parāyaṇanti’’ evaṃ jīvitapariyantaṃ buddhaṃ saraṇaṃ gato paṭivasati, tasmiṃ samaye eko janapadavāsiko tattha tattha āhiṇḍanto taṃ tuṇḍagāmaṃ patvā tasseva ghare nivāsaṃ kappesi, tassa pana jānapadikassa sarīre eko yakkho āvisitvā pīḷeti, tadā tassa gāmassa pavisanakāle yakkho buddhadāso pāsakassa guṇatejena tassa gehaṃ pavisituṃ asakkonto taṃ muñcitvā bahigāme sattāhaṃ aṭṭhāsi tassāgamanaṃ olokento. Tato so jānapadiko sattadivasaṃ tattha vasitvā sattame divase sakaraṭṭhaṃ gantukāmo gāmā nikkhami. Atha taṃ tathā nikkhantaṃ disvā yakkho aggahesi, atha so taṃ ettakaṃ kālaṃ kuhiṃgatosīti pucchi. Yakkho bho tavatthāya ettha vasantassa me sattāhaṃ atikkantanti. Tato so ko te mayā attho, kiṃ te dammīti, atha yakkhena bho ahaṃ khudāya pīḷito bhattena me atthoti vutto so evaṃ sati kasmā maṃ antogehe vasantaṃ na gaṇhīti āha. Yakkhena bho tasmiṃ ghare buddhaṃ saraṇaṃ gato eko upasako atthi, tassa sīlatejena gehaṃ pavisitumasakkonto aṭṭhāsinti vutto jānapadiko saraṇaṃ nāma kinti ajānanto kinti vatvā so saraṇaṃ aggahesīti yakkhaṃ pucchi. Yakkho ‘‘buddhaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmī’’ti vatvā saraṇaṃ aggahesīti āha. Taṃ sutvā jānapadiko idāni imaṃ vañcessāmīti cintetvā tenahi yakkha ahampi buddhaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmīti āha. Evaṃ vuttamatteyeva yakkho mahāsaddaṃ karonto bha ye na bhamanto palāyi, evaṃ sammāsambuddhassa saraṇaṃ idhaloke bhayo paddava nivāraṇatthaṃ hoti, paraloke saggamokkhāvahaṃ. Tathāhi.
世尊在考萨国王治下某地涅槃时,有一村名为凸多伽摩。此处有一人名佛陀弟子,终身修持:‘我生存期间皈依佛陀,佛陀是我依止、护持和归宿。’如是者,终身皈依佛陀。时有一居民,常于各处来回游走,来到凸多伽摩村,在村中自筑舍居住。此人身中忽有一阿卡魔鬼附身,正受其苦。当此时节,阿卡魔鬼欲入佛弟子住所,因其德行威力强大不得入内,只好放弃,连续七天居住于村外,远远观察那人的出入。随后,这居民居村七天,第七日有意赴城。阿卡见此,便追赶,问其去向何方。那居民答曰:‘此处诸鬼,七天困扰于我。’阿卡因饥饿痛苦谎称:‘我因饥饿受苦,食物是我所需。’居民觉察阿卡不至家中居住,便言语劝诫。阿卡曰:‘家中有一皈依佛陀的居士,因其持戒威德,故我不得入其宅。’该居民遂问阿卡何故皈依佛陀,阿卡答曰:‘我皈依佛陀亦是因缘。’闻此,居民心生思惟:我亦当皈依佛陀。于是与阿卡共说皈依佛陀。正如前述,阿卡大声呼说,不畏危难远逃,正如此,世尊的皈依成为人间解除恐怖、消除灾难的根本,也带往他界天上解脱。正是如此。

Buddhoti vacanaṃ etaṃ, amanussānaṃ bhayāvahaṃ;
“佛”之言,即指非人非天之中生起令人生惧之尊者;
Buddhabhattikajantūnaṃ, sabbadā mudamāvahaṃ.
对佛陀信受如养育众生之生灵,常生欣悦;

Sabbopaddavanāsāya, paccakkhadibbamosadhaṃ;
为灭除一切障碍,乃至正现神妙之药;
Dibbamantaṃ mahātejaṃ, mahāyantaṃ mahabbhutaṃ.
此神妙祈愿具大威德,广大而生不可思议者。

Tasmā so dāruṇo yakkho,
因此那个凶猛的亚卡,
Disvā taṃ saraṇe ṭhithaṃ;
见到他立于皈依处;
Ubbiggo ca bhayappatto,
狂暴且遭遇恐怖,
Lomahaṭṭho ca chambhīto.
毛发竖起且战栗不安。

Bhamanto dhāvitaṃ disvā, timirova suriyuggate,
见到旋转奔跑者,如黑暗于太阳升起之时,
Simbalitūlabhaṭṭhaṃva, caṇḍavātena khaṇḍitaṃ.
如狂风破坏了繁茂的森林,

5.
Yaṃ dukkhaṃ rājacorāri, yakkhapetā disambhavaṃ;
如同国王、盗贼、妖鬼、恶魔及畸形怪异之苦,
Nicchantena manussena, gantabbaṃ saraṇattayaṃti.
凡恒常在人世者,应当前往依止三宝。
Tato jānapadiko saraṇāgamane mahāguṇaṃ mahānisaṃsaṃ oloketvā buddhe sagāravo sappemo ‘‘jīvitapariyantaṃ buddhaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmī’’ti saraṇaṃ gantvā teneva saraṇāgamanānubhāvena jīvitapariyosāne suttappabuddhoviya devaloke nibbattīti.
于是国土间人民观察依止三宝之大德大功德,深广恭敬于佛,恳切说:『以毕生为限,誓愿依止佛陀。』遂前往依止,因其依止三宝而体验,临终时,如同闻法之士,得生于天界。

Disvāna evaṃ saraṇaṃ gataṃ taṃ,
彼见如此依止三宝者,
Apenti yakkhāpi mahabbhayena;
连妖鬼亦因大怖畏而远离,
Pāletha sīlaṃ saraṇañca tasmā,
因而护持戒律并依止三宝。
Jahātha duritaṃ sugatiṃ bhajavhoti.
从哪里能摒弃恶行而亲近善道呢。

22. Micchadiṭṭhikassa vatthumhi ayamānupubbīkathā
22. 关于有不正见者而行之的渐次说法
Bhagavati dharamāne rājagahanagare kira eko brahmabhattiko micchādiṭṭhiko paṭivasati, tattheva sammādiṭṭhikopi. Tesaṃ ubhinnampi dve puttā ahesuṃ. Te ekato kīḷantā vaḍḍhanti. Athāparabhāge guḷakīḷaṃkīḷantānaṃ sammādiṭṭhikassa putto ‘‘namo buddhayā’’ti vatvā guḷhaṃ khipanto divase divase jināti. Micchādiṭṭhikassa putto ‘‘namo brahmuno’’ti vatvā khipanto parājeti, tato micchādiṭṭhikassa putto niccaṃ jinantaṃ sammādiṭṭhikaṃ kumāraṃ disvā samma tvaṃ niccameva jināsi, kiṃ vatvā guḷaṃ khipasīti pucchi. Sohaṃ samma ‘‘namo buddhāyā’’ti vatvā khipāmīti āha. Sopi tato paṭṭhāya ‘‘namo buddhāyā’’ti vatvā khipati, atha te yebhuyyena dūte samasamāva honti. Aparabhāge micchādiṭṭhikassa putto pitarā saddhiṃ dārūnamatthāya vanaṃ gantvā sakaṭena dāruṃ gahetvā āgacchanto nagaradvārasamīpe sakaṭaṃ vissajjetvā tiṇe khādanatthāya goṇe vissajjesi, goṇā tiṇaṃ khādanto aññehi gorūpehi saddhiṃ antonagaraṃ pavisiṃsu. Athassa pitā goṇe pariyesanto sakaṭaṃ olokehīti puttaṃ nivattetvā nagaraṃ paviṭṭho ahosi, atha sāyaṇhe jāte manussā nagaradvāraṃ pidahiṃsu, tato kumāro bahinagare dārusakaṭassa heṭṭhā sayanto niddūpagato ahosi. Atha tassā rattiyā sammādiṭṭhiko ca micchādiṭṭhiko cāti dve yakkhā gocaraṃ pariyesamānā sakaṭassa heṭṭhā nipannaṃ kumāraṃ addasaṃsu, tesu micchādiṭṭhiko imaṃ khādāmīti āha. Athāparo mā eva makāsi, ‘‘namo buddhāyā’’ti vācako esoti, khādāmevetanti vatvā itarena yāvatatiyaṃ vāriyamānopi gantvā tassa pāde gahetvā ākaḍḍhi. Tasmiṃ khaṇe dārako pubbaparicayena ‘‘namo buddhāyā’’ti āha taṃ sutvā yakkho bhayappatto lomahaṭṭho hatthaṃ vissajjetvā paṭikkamma aṭṭhāsi. Aho acchariyaṃ buddhānubhāvaṃ abbhutaṃ, evaṃ attaṃ anīyyātetvā paricayena ‘‘namo buddhāyā’’ti vuttassapi bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ upaddavaṃ vā na hoti. Pageva attaṃ nīyyātetvā yāvajīvaṃ buddhaṃ saraṇaṃ gatassāti. Vuttañhi.
当时世尊住在王舍城中,据说有一位婆罗门食人者持不正见居住于此,旁边邻居则是正见者。他们两人各有两子。这些子嗣一同玩耍而一同成长。在另一边,有一些玩糖果游戏的孩子,其中正见者的儿子,常以『礼敬佛陀』为口头禅,边说边抛掷糖果,每日不断获得胜利。不正见者的儿子则口称『礼敬婆罗门』,抛掷时却败北。于是,不正见者的儿子看见常胜的正见者儿子,问道:“你为什么总是赢呢,还说抛糖果?”孩子回答说:“我礼敬佛陀,正是礼敬佛陀才获胜。”他也是因此起初心诚,边称念『礼敬佛陀』边抛糖果。后来他们常一同成为信差往来。在另一边,不正见者之子与父亲一同为砍柴入林,拉着车子采集柴火回城,将车卸下后,放牧人喂牛吃草;牛吃草时,与其他牛群一起进入城市。放牧的父亲寻车未果,便令儿子返回,当他进入城市时,当晚城门被人关闭。那时,孩子正在外城草车下睡觉,入夜觉醒。夜间,正见与不正见两种鬼魅巡游此地,看见藏身车下的孩子,不正见者的鬼魅说:“这是我们的食物。”另一鬼魅说:“不要害怕,他会说『礼敬佛陀』。”便从旁来回绕行试探,掐住孩子脚跟并用强力拉扯。突然孩子以往之习,念诵“礼敬佛陀”声响,鬼魅惊恐毛发倒竖,放开手退开站立。真是奇妙佛法的力量,能使此身不受染污,虽有熟识念诵「礼敬佛陀」亦无恐惧、惊惶或扰乱。正是因为此,他安心投靠终生皈依佛陀。此事现已宣说。

Yathāpi sikhino nādaṃ, bhujaṅgānaṃ bhayāvahaṃ;
正如火苗发出的声响,使人畏惧;
Evaṃ buddhoti vacanaṃ, amanussānaṃ bhayāvahaṃ.
佛的名号,对于非人类也产生畏惧之心。

Yathā mantassa jappena, vilayaṃ yāti kibbisaṃ;
正如反复念诵咒语,毒蛇必然逐渐消散。
Evaṃ buddhoti vacanena, apayanti pisācakā.
以「如是佛说」之言,鬼魅类即散去。
§3
3.
Aggiṃ disvā yathā sitthaṃ, dūratova vilīyati;
见火则如芝麻般微小,远远地便渐渐消散;
Disvānevaṃ saraṇagataṃ, petā pentiva dūrato.
看到如此,依止者有如远方的饿鬼亦复如是。
§4
4.
Pavaraṃ buddhaicceta, makkharadvayamabbhutaṃ;
最胜觉者的意念,如两种蜜糖般令人惊奇;
Sabbo paddavanāsāya, thirapākāra muggataṃ.
一切语言皆因其音无味,像无瑕的珠宝一般清净。
§5
5.
Sattaratanapāsādaṃ, tameva vajiraṃ guhaṃ;
七宝所成的殿阁,其中为坚固且宝贵的岩穴;
Tameva nāvaṃ dīpaṃ taṃ, tameva kavacaṃ subhaṃ.
这是真正的船与灯塔,也是真正的光辉护具。
§6
6.
Tameva sirasi bhāsantaṃ, kirīṭaṃ ratanāmayaṃ;
这是真实照耀头顶的宝冠,宝石铸成的王冠;
Lalāṭe tilakaṃ rammaṃ, kappūraṃ nayanadvaye.
额中央饰以美丽的朱砂印记,双目上方熏香袅绕。
§7
7.
Tāḍaṅkaṃ kaṇṇayugale, soṇṇamālā gale subhā;
以豺皮为耳配饰,颈上悬挂着黄金项链;
Ekāvaḷi tārahāra, bhārā jattusu laṅkatā.
单排星辰般的项链,在肩膀上沉重垂挂。

8.
Aṅgadaṃ bāhumūlassa, karagge valayaṃ tathā;
臂膀根部佩戴着环形护环,手腕上亦系有臂环;
Aṅgulisvaṅguliyañca, khaggaṃ maṅgalasammataṃ.
指间、指骨等,钝利锐利皆属吉祥允许的工具。
§9
9.
Soṇṇā tapatta muṇhīsaṃ, sabāṇaṃva sarāsanaṃ;
黄金制成的烘烤器皿,如同细长弯曲的箭一样;
Tameva sabbālaṅkāraṃ, tameva duritāpahaṃ.
正是所有装饰品,也是消除罪恶的因缘。
§10
10.
Tasmā hi paṇḍito poso,
因此智者必谨守此戒,
Lokalocanasatthuno;
为世间众生之守护者;
Saraṇaṃ tassa ganteva,
正如他人到达避难所一般投靠此戒。
Guṇanāmaṃ ehipassikaṃ.
『品质名称』者,是来访可见之义。

11.
Namoti vacanaṃ pubbaṃ, buddhāyeti giraṃ tadā;
昔时,『礼敬语』者,是彼时称呼佛陀之荣言。
Supantena kumārena, micchādiṭṭhikasūnunā.
由良善少年,恶见之子弃恶见人。
§12
12.
Sutvā vuttaṃ pisā cāpi, manussakuṇape ratā;
闻已所说,亦喜欢人群。
Na hiṃsanti aho buddha, guṇasāramahantatāti.
实无害矣,世尊,德性精华广大者是也。
Atha sammādiṭṭhikayakkho micchādiṭṭhikassa yakkhassa evamāha, ayuttaṃ bho tayā kataṃ. Buddhaguṇe pahāro dinno, daṇḍakammaṃ tayā kātabbaṃti, tena kiṃmayā samma kātabbanti vutte bubhukkhitassa āhāraṃ dehīti āha. Tato so sādhūti vatvā yāvāhaṃ āgacchāmi, tvaṃ tāvettha vacchāhīti vatvā bimbisārarañño kañcanataṭṭake vaḍḍhitaṃ rasabhojanaṃ āharitvā kumārassa pituvaṇṇena dārakaṃ bhojetvā puna kumārena vuttabuddhavacanañca attanā katavāyāmaṃ cāti sabbaṃ taṭṭake likhitvā idaṃ raññoyeva paññāyatūti adhiṭṭhāya agamaṃsu, atha pabhātāya rattiyā rañño bhojanakāle rājapurisā tattha taṭṭakaṃ adisvā nagaraṃ upaparikkhantā sakaṭe dārakañca taṭṭakañca disvā taṭṭakena saddhiṃ taṃ gahetvā rañño dassesuṃ. Rājā taṭṭake akkharādīni disvā vācetvā tassa guṇe pasanno mahantena yasena saddhiṃ seṭṭhiṭṭhānamadāsi.
随后,正见鬼对恶见鬼如是言:吾以一万为汝所作,已将佛陀品质赏赐,尔必行善业,汝当何业为可?答曰:应当供养饥饿之食。彼则赞曰:善哉!诺!如是我闻。即将金阙池滨所增佳味饮食供养少年及其父亲,且以自力撰佛语教说少者。诸事悉书池滨,置于彼王之所,乃凭此书往。明旦及夜王食时,王与群臣至池滨察看,有车载少年与池滨,于池滨俱取示王。王见字迹诸文,语之品质,悦服甚深,赠以优良地产。

Jinassa nāmaṃ supinena pevaṃ,
“尊者”是尊称,以示崇敬,称谓此人之尊贵。
Na hoti bhītiṃ lapanena yasmā;
因为他心中无所畏惧,不为世俗的谗毁所动摇。
Tasmā munindaṃ satataṃ sarātha,
因此,众圣之王,即圣贤中的导师,恒常护持他的身心。
Guṇe sarantā saraṇañca yāthāti.
护持者众多,依他的美德而聚集,且其庇护亦确实周全。
Micchādiṭṭhikassa vatthuṃ dutiyaṃ. · 邪见者事第二。
23. Pādapīṭhikāya vatthumhi ayamānupubbīkathā
第23章 以足座为主题的世间次第说法
Jambudīpe mahābodhito kira dakkhiṇapasse etaṃ paccantanagaraṃ ahosi. Tattha saddhāsampanno ratanattayamāmako eko upāsako paṭivasati. Tadā eko khīṇāsavo bhagavatā paribhuttaṃ pādapīṭhaṃ thavikāya pakkhipitvā gatagataṭṭhāne pūjento anukkamena taṃ nagaraṃ sampāpuṇitvā sunivattho supāruto pattaṃ gahetvā antaravīthiṃ paṭipajji yugamattadaso pabbajjālīlāya janaṃ paritosento. Atha so upāsako tathā gacchantaṃ theraṃ disvā pasannamānaso upagantvā pañcapatiṭṭhitena vanditvā pattaṃ gahetvā bhojetvā nibaddhaṃ mama gehaṃ āgamanamicchāmi, mamānukampāya ettheva vasatha sāmīti yācitvā nagarāsanne ramaṇīye vanasaṇḍe nadīkūle paṇṇasālaṃ katvā therassa taṃ nīyyātetvā catupaccayehi paṭijagganto mānento pūjento vasati. Theropi tattha phāsukaṭṭhāne bhagavatā paribhuttapādapīṭhadhātuṃ nidhāya vālukāhi thūpaṃ katvā niccaṃ gandhadhūpadīpapupphapūjādīhi pūjayamāno vāsaṃ kappeti. Tasmiṃ samaye tasso pāsakassa anantaragehavāsiko eko issarabhattiko attano devataṃ nibaddhaṃ namassati. Taṃ disvāssa upāsako buddhaguṇe vatvā akhette samma mā viriyaṃ karohi. Pajahetaṃ diṭṭhiṃti āha. Tato so kerāṭiko issarabhattiko ko te satthu guṇānubhāvo, amhākaṃ issarassa guṇova mahantoti vatvā tassa aguṇaṃ guṇanti kathento āha.
据说,当大觉者在须弥山南面这座城邦时,该地在须弥山南方,在称为珍宝之子的信施家庭中有一位在家居士居住。那时,有一位已断尽所有染污的声闻,受世尊之教化,曾置一块受世尊清净足座祝福之木板为基座,步行于城中各处,恭敬供奉,满怀安详,身披袈裟,手持拂尘,步入城中间的街巷。因于某一特定时期,他结伴行乞,端庄谦和,广为护持人民。随后该在家居士见此长老,心怀欢喜,走近而敬礼了五处圣地,接过拂尘以供养,希愿受持其驻留家中;为此,他请求于邑边一处风景幽雅的森林旷地,河流之滨建立一座五十柱之坊舍,住持长老常得往来,四时供奉,庄严礼赞。此长老亦于该地,置世尊赐福之足座木板遗迹,筑成土堆,在恒常供焚香、燃灯、献花供养之中修持僧团所居。此时有一名未出家居士田主,自以其所养护的天神为伴,来此礼敬。见此情景,居士劝其称扬世尊功德,劝其勿散漫,应努力修行。田主却辩曰:‘你这小农夫,对师长的功德知晓何等?我们主人自为真正伟大,故你视其为无功的言论乃是错谬。’

Tipuraṃ so vināsesi, lalāṭanayanagginā;
他以额头之眼为火焚烧敌人,毁灭三城;
Asureca vināsesi, tisūlena mahissaro.
又以三叉戟毁灭恶魔王。
§2

Jaṭākalāpamāvattaṃ, naccatī dinasandhiyaṃ;
其头发如树枝纠结,日暮时分旋转舞动;
Vādeti bherivīṇādiṃ, gītaṃcāpi sa gāyati.
他吹奏如野牛角制的琵琶等乐器,且唱歌。

Bhariyāyo tassa tisso, jaṭāyekaṃ samubbahe;
他有三位妻子,头发纠结聚合成一束;
Ekamekena passena, passamāno carekakaṃ.
各自分开,彼此凝视着彼此,交相走动。

Hatthicammambaradharo, teneva vāritā tapo;
手持象皮衣着者,正是施行苦行者。
Asādisehi puttehi, rūpena ca supākaṭo.
与不合适之子女相处,容貌猥陋难见。

Ratiyā ca madhupāne ca, byāvaṭo sabbadā ca so;
常常沉溺于情欲和醉酒之中,放纵无节制;
Manussaṭṭhidharo sīsa, kapālenesa bhuñjaki.
头颅虽位于人间,却如同被刀斧所觞食般。
§6
6.
Na jāto na bhayaṃ tassa, maraṇaṃ natthi sassato;
他既未曾出生,亦无畏惧,生死涅槃无有常存;
Īdiso me mahādevo, natthaññassīdiso guṇoti.
此唯有我大天尊,如斯者无他,实无异于此等功德也。
Taṃ sutvā upāsako samma tuyhaṃ issarassa ete guṇā nāma tāva hontu. Aguṇā nāma kittakā hontīti vatvā bhagavato sakalaguṇe saṃharitvā kathento āha.
彼时,比库听闻后,诚愿如你这至高无上的主,有此等美德。又言,美德者,名为功绩者也。于是世尊一一摄持诸种功德而称述说曰:

Loke sabbasavantīnaṃ, ādhāro sāgaro yathā;
世间诸万物之依止,如大海为众水之依止;
Sabbesaṃ guṇarāsīnaṃ, ādhārova tathāgato.
诸种功德之集聚,正如如来为诸功德之依止;

Carācarānaṃ sabbesaṃ, ādhārāva dharā ayaṃ;
有形与无形万物之依托,即如大地为诸有之依止;
Tathā guṇānaṃ sabbesaṃ, ādhārova tathāgato.
诸种功德之依托,亦正如如来为诸功德之依止;

Evaṃ santo viyattoca , evaṃ so karuṇāparo;
如此圣者所专通,如此慈悲广大者;
Eva middhividhā tassa, evamevaṃ guṇā iti.
『中』者,分别法中中项,『此』者,称誉等品质也。

10.
Buddhopi sakkoti na yassa vaṇṇe,
犹如佛陀虽为天帝,亦无那种色相,
Kappampi vatvā khayataṃ gametuṃ;
连生灭过程都已结束,逝于寂灭;
Pageva ca brahmasurā surehi,
正如梵天、诸天及众神,
Vattuṃ na hānantaguṇassa vaṇṇanti.
不会赞扬无死者的色相。
Evaṃ vadantā pana te ubhopi amhākaṃ devo uttamo amhākaṃ devo uttamoti kalahaṃ vaḍḍhetvā rañño santikamagamaṃsu, rājā tesaṃ kathaṃ sutvā tenahi tumhākaṃ devatānaṃ mahantabhāvaṃ iddhipāṭihāriyena jānissāma. Dassetha tehi no iddhiṃti nagare bheriṃ carāpesi. Ito kira sattāhaccayena imesaṃ dvinnaṃ satthārānaṃ pāṭihāriyāni bhavissanti. Sabbe sannipatantūti taṃ sutvā nānādisāsu bahū manussā samāgamiṃsu, atha micchādiṭṭhikā ajja amhākaṃ devassa ānubhāvaṃ passāmāti mahantaṃ pūjaṃ karonto tattha sāraṃ nāddasaṃsu, sammādiṭṭhikāpi ajja amhākaṃ bhagavato ānubhāvaṃ passissāmāti vāḷukāthūpaṃ gantvā gandhamālādīhi pūjetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā añjalimpaggayha aṭṭhaṃsu. Atha rājāpi balavāhanaparivuto ekamante aṭṭhāsi. Nānāsamayavādinopi ajja tesaṃ pāṭihāriyaṃ passissāmāti mañcātimañcaṃ katvā aṭṭhaṃsu. Tesaṃ samāgame sammādiṭṭhikā vāḷukāthūpa mabhimukhaṃ katvā añjalimpaggayha sāmi amhākaṃ bhagavā sabbabuddhakiccāni niṭṭhāpetvā anupādisesāya nibbāṇadhātuyā parinibbāyi. Sāriputtamahāmoggallānādayo asītimahāsāvakāpi parinibbāyiṃsu, natthettha amhākaṃ aññaṃ paṭisaraṇanti vatvā saccakiriyaṃ karontā āhaṃsu.
然而他们如此议论时,两位天尊皆以“他是我们上尊的天神,他是我们至尊的天神”互相争论,因而提升了争执,于是前往王那里。王听闻他们此言,便深知你们众天神无上神通威力。使他们显现神通,在城中鼓声齐鸣。此后一周时间,这两位导师的神通显现无疑。众多不同方位的人类聚集于此。一些怀邪见者今日观见了我们天神的现前,发起了极大的敬礼,而其中正见者今日亦观见了我们世尊的现前,持香火供养绕行沙丘佛塔,合掌顶礼八次。随后国王亦率领力士护卫,独自站于一隅。诸多持异说者亦今日观见了这等神通,作出多次礼拜八次。在他们聚集时,持正见者向沙丘佛塔转身合掌顶礼,敬礼世尊,恳求世尊圆满诸佛事,入无余涅槃际,断无余障。沙利佛与摩诃马哈摩嘎喇那等八十大弟子亦已入无余涅槃,之后世人无他皈所,皆行如实见证之法说。

阿拉维众怜悯夜叉,梵天与孔雀亦感同身受。

Saccakādinigaṇṭheca, kūṭadantā dayo dvije;
真理之网密布其中,象牙尖牙众多两大猛兽共怜悯。
Damesi tena saccena, dassetu pāṭihāriyaṃti.
彼以真理制伏,显现此神奇妙用。
Evañca pana vatvā upāsakā amhākaṃ anukammaṃ paṭicca mahājanassa micchādiṭṭhibhedanattaṃ pāṭihāriyaṃ dassetha sāmīti ārādhesuṃ. Atha buddhānubhāvañca therānubhāvañca upāsakānaṃ saccakiriyānubhāvañca paṭicca vāḷukāthūpaṃ dvidhā bhinditvā pādapīṭhadhātu ākāsa mabbhuggantvā chabbaṇṇaraṃsiyo vissajjentī vilāsamānā aṭṭhāsi. Atha mahājanā celukkhepasahassāni pavattentā sādhukīḷhaṃ kīḷantā mahānādaṃ pavattentā mahantaṃ pūjamakaṃsu. Micchādiṭṭhikāpi imaṃ acchariyaṃ disvā vimhitamānasā micchādiṭṭhiṃ bhinditvā ratanattayaparāyaṇā saraṇa magamaṃsūti.
于是居士们说:“依止我们供养,因緣于大众,破除邪见生疑者之权巧欺骗,现此神奇证效。”随后,观佛法与比长老诸证实相,居士分跪沙土,用足座遗迹入空,于七色灰尘中致敬恭礼立尽。大众千余仰头观望,欢喜嘻戏,发大声响,供养极为盛大。即使执邪见者见此异相,亦破其邪见,归依三宝,誓愿决定护持真如法门。

Phuṭṭhopi pādena jinassa evaṃ,
即使以胜利者的脚步,
Kaliṅgaro pā si mahānubhāvo;
伟大的贤人凯林加罗也成就于此;
Lokekanāthassa anāsavassa,
这位无漏者、世间唯一的主宰,
Mahānubhāvo hi acintanīyoti.
这位伟大的贤人实不可思议。

So kira purimabuddhesu katādhikāro tattha tattha bhave vivaṭṭūpanissayaṃ puññaṃ upacinanto sumedhassa bhagavato kāle vijjādharo hutvā himavati paṭivasati. Tadā sumedho nāma sammāsambuddho viveka manubrūhanto himavantaṃ gantvā ramaṇīye padese pallaṅkaṃ ābhujitvā nisīdi. Tadā vijjādharo ākāsena gacchanto chabbaṇṇaraṃsīhi virājamānaṃ bhagavantaṃ disvā tīhi kaṇikārapupphehi pūjesi, pupphāni buddhānubhāvena satthu upari chattākārena aṭṭhaṃsu, so tena bhīyyoso mattāya pasannacitto hutvā aparabhāge kālaṃkatvā tāvatiṃsabhavane nibbattitvā uḷāraṃ dibbasampattimanubhavanto yāvatāyukaṃ tattha ṭhatvā tato cuto devamanussesu saṃsaranto imasmiṃ buddhuppāde rājagahanagare brāhmaṇamahāsālassa putto hutvā nibbatti. Uttarotissa nāmaṃ ahosi. So uttamarūpadharo viññutaṃ patto brāhmaṇavijjāsu nipphattiṃ patvā jātiyā rūpena vijjāya sīlācārena ca lokassa mahanīyo jāto, tassa taṃ paññāsampattiṃdisvā vassakāro magadhamahāmatto attano dhītaraṃ dātukāmo hutvā attano adhippāyaṃ pavedesi. So nissaraṇajjhāsayatāya taṃ paṭikkhipitvā kālenakālaṃ dhammasenāpatiṃ payirupāsanto tassa santike dhammaṃ sutvā paṭiladdhasaddho pabbajitvā vattasampanno hutvā theraṃ upaṭṭhahati. Tena ca samayena therassa aññataro ābādho uppanno hoti, tassa bhesajjatthāya uttarasāmaṇero pātova pattacīvara mādāya vihārato nikkhamma antarāmagge taḷākassa tīre pattaṃ ṭhapetvā udakasamīpaṃ gantvā mukhaṃ dhovati, tadā aññataro ummaggacoro katakammo ārakkhapurisehi anubaddho aggadvāreneva nagarato nikkhamitvā palāyanto attanā gahitaṃ ratanabhaṇḍikaṃ sāmaṇerassa patte pakkhipitvā palāyi. So sāmaṇeropi pattasamīpaṃ upagato hoti, coraṃ anubandhantā rājapurisā sāmaṇerassa patte bhaṇḍikaṃ disvā ayaṃ coro, iminā coriyaṃ katanti sāmaṇeraṃ pacchābāhaṃ bandhitvā vassakārassa brāhmaṇassa dassesuṃ. Vassakāro ca tadā rañño vinicchaye niyutto hutvā chejjabhejjaṃ anusāsati. So eso pubbe mama vacanaṃ nādiyi. Suddhapāsaṇḍiyesu pabbajīti ca baddhāghātattā taṃ kammaṃ asodhetvāva jīvantamevetaṃ sūle uttāsethāti āṇā pesi, rājapurisā taṃ nimbasūle uttāsesuṃ. Sāmaṇero sūlagge nisinno upajjhāyassa me ko bhesajjaṃ āharissatīti sāriputtattheraṃ sari. Tato thero taṃ pavattiṃ ñatvā sammāsambuddhassa kathesi, bhagavāpi mahāsāvakaparivuto tassa ñāṇaparipākaṃ oloketvā taṃ ṭhānamagamāsi. Tato bhagavato nikkhantabhāvā sakalanagare kolāhalaṃ ahosi, mahājanakāyo sannipati. Atha bhagavā vipphurantahatthatale nakhamaṇimayūkhasambhinnapītābhāsatāya paggharantajātihiṅgulakasuvaṇṇarasadhārāviya jālāvaguṇṭhitamudutalunaṅgulaṃ hatthaṃ uttarassa sīse ṭhapetvā uttara idaṃ te pubbe katapāpakammassa phalaṃ uppannaṃ, tattha tayā paccavekkhaṇabalena adhivāsanā kātabbāti āha. Teneva āha.
据说,此事缘起于前世圣者。他于各处执行教法,依止清净的功德,成为智慧的持有者,居住于喜马拉雅山中。当时,这位名为智慧者的正自觉觉者,思惟出世间的清净,前往喜马拉雅的怡人之地,展开铺垫席,安坐。那时,智慧者在空中飞行,以六色光芒照耀佛陀,见佛陀后用三种小颗的花朵供养佛陀,花以佛力为加持,悬于佛上,如伞盖般八重。因而智慧着万分喜悦,心意清净,后来离开此处时,路过忉利天宫,享受天界殊胜财宝,乃至回归人间,转生于佛陀当时的王舍城,成为婆罗门大家室的儿子。他名为北方(Uttarotissa)。他保有绝佳的容貌,了知世间婆罗门教义,获得了世间的尊重与品德。显现智慧光明后,年长了,欲赠与女儿嫁妆而向自己的统治者呈现。他为离欲之心驱使,舍弃财富,随时恭敬法军长,亲近听法,信解所闻,出家而成就修行之路,成为长老的侍者。此时,该长老得一种疾病,为治病,北方沙玛内拉自住处出发,至荒郊野外,在水边设置垫席沐面。此时,有盗贼作恶,被守卫拦截,逃离城中时,将盗取的宝物抛给那沙玛内拉。沙玛内拉靠近宝物,城中古宫人见盗贼执贼宝,指控沙玛内拉共犯盗窃,后来沙玛内拉被羁押,婆罗门大德瓦萨卡罗严密审问此事。此人说:「这乃我以前之言行」。坚守正道,远离邪见,受缚活命,犹如被刺剑顶,受尽折磨。王舍城居民将他逼到尖锐的棘刺上。沙玛内拉坐棘刺上,向他的导师说道:「师尊,我该何处取药救治?」沙利佛尊长得知此事,告诫世尊。佛陀周围与众多弟子共聚,端视智慧成就,来到此处。当时佛陀离去的消息在全城引起喧嚣,众多民众集聚。佛陀以净洁的橘黄色身相,手指甲与足趾如金色璀璨,伸指顶于头顶,说:『北方,这正是你以前所作恶业的果报,现已现前显现,你应当以此为鉴。』佛陀如此宣说。

他与其他男孩结伴,同游戏耍场中。

他手持一根细长枝条,用来拨弄那水中柚树叶子;
Uttāsesi tattha sūle, jīvamānakamakkhikaṃ.
他将细枝射入叶间,如同活生生的昆虫。

Aparampi te pāpakammaṃ, pavakkhāmi suṇohi me;
现在我将说你另一个恶行,请你听我叙述;
Ovadantiṃ hitena tvaṃ, atīte sakamātaraṃ.
你当善受教诲,这是你与母亲往昔之劝戒。

Jīvasūle nisīdāti, kopenābhisapī tuvaṃ;
你沉溺于生命之刺,未曾为此而远离毁伤;
Imehi dvīhi pāpehi, saraṃ saṃsārasāgare.
因这两种恶业,你深陷轮回之海难自拔。

Pañcajātisate acchi, jīvasūlamhi nimbaje;
五趣轮回百生业柱,扎根于生命之刺中;
Ayaṃ te carimā jāti, etthāpica vipacci soti.
这是你的最终生死,即便在此也能感得恶果。
Evamādinā nayena tassa ajjhāsayānurūpena dhammaṃ desesi, uttaro amatābhisekasadisena satthuno hatthasamphassasañjātapasādasomanassatāya uḷāraṃ pītipāmojjaṃ paṭilabhitvā yathāparicitaṃ vipassanāmaggaṃ samārūḷho ñāṇassa paripākaṃ gatattā satthu desanāvilāsena maggapaṭipāṭiyā sabbakilese khepetvā chaḷabhiñño ahosi. Dhammaṃ sutvā tattha samāgatānaṃ devamanussānaṃ caturāsītipāṇasahassānaṃ dhammābhisamayo ahosīti vadanti. Uttaro pana chaḷabhiñño hutvā sūlato uṭṭhahitvā ākāse ṭhatvā pāṭihāriyaṃ dassesi. Mahājanā acchariyabbhutacittā jātā ahesuṃ. Tāvadevassa vaṇorundhi, so bhikkhūhi āvuso tādisaṃ dukkhaṃ anubhavanto kathaṃ tvaṃ vipassanaṃ anuyuñjituṃ sakkhīti puṭṭho pageva me āvuso saṃsāre ādīnavo saṅkhārānañca sabhāvo sudiṭṭho. Tasmāhaṃ tādisaṃ dukkhaṃ anubhavantopi asakkhiṃ vipassanaṃ vaḍḍhetvā visesaṃ adhigantuṃti āha. Athāparabhāge so bhikkhusaṅghamajjhe attano pubbacaritā padānaṃ pakāsento imā gāthā abhāsi.
因此,圣者以适应其内心之法行引导,以上师无上极乐洒顶之前所生欢喜庄严之触,兴起广泛欢喜而修习广为人知的观行之道。因证得智慧之成熟,圆满断除一切烦恼,成为具六通的圣者。闻法时,聚集其中的四万八千诸天人等皆得法喜充足。继而他成为具六通者,拔出刺矛,立于空中而显现神通。大众惊异生起奇异心。众人中有比库好奇地问道:「众生痛苦如此,你又如何能够修习观行呢?」我说:「友人啊,轮回之苦及行蕴本性明了,如是故我修习并专注于观行,务求特别证得。」接着,他在比库众中宣示自己过去行为之功德,吟诵此偈诗。

名为苏美陀者,是具二十三相的正觉佛。
Vivekakāmo sambuddho, himavanta mupāgami.
正自觉者充满分别智慧,来至喜马拉雅山。

断除下品,喜马拉雅山前,慈悲为怀的圣人领头;

折叠坐垫后,端坐于众人之首。

Vijjādharo tadā āsiṃ, antalikkhacaro ahaṃ;
当时我是持守学问者,天界行者;

持持已磨利三叉戟,当时径往天空。

Pabbatagge yathā aggi, puṇṇamāseva candimā;
山巅之火,如满月之光辉;
Vanaṃ obhāsate buddho, sālarājāva phullito.
森林中光辉灿烂的是佛陀,如同沙罗树开满花朵。

Vanaggā nikkhamitvāna, buddharaṃsī vidhāvare;
出入于森林的,是佛陀弟子众,于佛陀所在之地修行而行。
Nalaggivaṇṇasaṅkāsā, disvā cittaṃ pasādayiṃ.
如同清澈的水幕般呈现的色彩,看到之后令心安宁。

Vicinaṃ addasaṃ pupphaṃ, kaṇikāraṃ devagandhikaṃ;
周遍察看已见那花朵,一朵如芥子般微小,带有天人香气。
Tīṇi pupphāni ādāya, buddhaseṭṭhaṃ apūjayiṃ.
取这三朵花,顶礼奉敬尊奉为诸佛之最。

因佛陀的加持,我当时亦得此三朵花。

乌得瓦那向下坠落,世尊的影子随之动摇。

Tena kammena sukatena, cetanāpaṇidhīhica;
由彼善业高尚,以意志坚固;

舍弃了人身,我将到达他方世界。

Tattha me sukataṃ byamhaṃ, kaṇikārīti ñāyati;
其中我的善业广博,谓之如米粒;

广延六十由旬,阔及三十由旬。

Sahassakhaṇḍaṃ satabheṇḍu, dhajālu haritāmayaṃ;
千界百月,旗帜如绢缎,呈现青黄相间;

诸多百千重楼合围,魔王聚集将吾围困。

金光灿灿宝珠辉映,鲜红彩饰洒满其上;

铺盖芬芳柔软舒适,或厚或薄各具适宜。

大阿拉汉的卧具端正,刷帚似的装饰显威严;

高耸独立四周牢固,绮丽华丽犹如光彩缠绕。

Bhavanā nikkhamitvāna, caranto devacārikaṃ;
舍弃宫殿离开其所,行走如天众般自由自在。
Yadā icchāmi gamanaṃ, devasaṃghapurakkhato.
我欲行走时,位于天众之前。

Pupphassa heṭṭhā tiṭṭhāmi, uparicchadanaṃ mama;
我立于花下,花覆盖于我之上;
Samantā yojanasataṃ, kaṇikārehi chāditaṃ.
四周遍布百由旬,被细沙粒所遮护。

Saṭṭhituriyasahassāni, sāyaṃ pātaṃ upaṭṭhahuṃ;
有六万四千人,于傍晚时分侍立守护;
Parivārenti maṃ niccaṃ, rattindivamatanditā.
他们昼夜不停地环绕我,敬献不辍。

Tattha naccehi gītehi, tālehi vāditehi ca;
其中有舞蹈歌唱,有手拍节奏及乐器演奏;
Ramāmi khiḍḍāratiyā, modāmi kāmakāmahaṃ.
我以戏谑游戏自娱,随心欢喜,乐于所欲。

Tattha bhutvā ca pitvā ca, modāmi tidase tadā;
在那里既居住又饮食,彼时我在三界之中欢喜。
Nārīgaṇehi sahito, modāmi byamhamuttame.
与众女人相伴,同乐无上欢愉。

Satānaṃ pañcakkhattuñca, devarajja makārayiṃ;
百族五十六族之中,我享有天帝之王权。
Satānaṃ tīṇikkhattuṃca, cakkavattī ahosahaṃ;
诸百族三十六族之中,我成为世间的帝王。
Padesarajjaṃ vipulaṃ, gaṇanāto asaṃkhiyaṃ.
拥有广大地方的统治权,领域无限不可计数。

Bhavābhave saṃsaranto, mahābhogaṃ labhāmahaṃ;
在生死轮回中不断流转,我获得了丰盛的大富足;
Bhoge me ūnatā natthi, buddhapūjāyi daṃ phalaṃ.
我的富足从未减少,这都是因为供养佛陀所结的福德。

Dve me bhave saṃsarāmi, devatte atha mānuse;
我在两种境界中流转,既有天界又有人间;
Aññaṃ gatiṃ na jānāmi, buddhapūjāyidaṃ phalaṃ.
我不知还有他种归宿,唯有供养佛陀才有这样的功德。

Dve me kule pajānāmi, khattiye cāpi brāhmaṇe;
我知道自己出生于两种家族,既为刹帝利,又为婆罗门;
Nīce kule na jānāmi, buddhapūjāyidaṃ phalaṃ.
低贱的家族我不了解,唯有供养佛陀才得此福报。

Hatthiyānaṃ assayānaṃ, sivikaṃ sandamānikaṃ;
对凶恶众生、杀害他者,以及恶女施以毒药,
Labhāmi sabbameve taṃ, buddhapūjāyidaṃ phalaṃ.
我获得了这一切,这就是供养世尊所获得的果报。

Dāsīgaṇaṃ dāsagaṇaṃ, nāriyo ca alaṅkatā;

九种衣服,九种果实,九种顶上膳食;

我皆获得,如此一切,为供养佛而得此果报。

此食此饮此卧处;
Labhāmi sabbamevetaṃ, buddhapūjāyidaṃ phalaṃ.
我皆获得,如此一切,为供养佛而得此果报。

Sabbattha pūjito homi, yaso accuggato mama;
于一切处受人敬礼,我的名声高涨;
Mahesakkho ghadā homi, abhejjapariso sadā;
我成为大天,常在无恐怖众中。
Ñātīnaṃ uttamo homi, buddhapūjāyidaṃ phalaṃ.
我成为亲属中最尊贵者,此果报即为礼敬佛陀的功德。

Sītaṃ uṇhaṃ na jānāmi, pariḷāho na vijjati;
寒冷与炎热我不认识,烦恼不能生起;
Atho cetasikaṃ dukkhaṃ, hadaye me na vijjati.
况且心意上的痛苦,心中亦不显现。

Suvaṇṇavaṇṇo hutvāna, saṃsarāmi bhavābhave;
身披金色光辉,在生死轮回中漂泊;
Vevaṇṇiyaṃ na jānāmi, buddhapūjāyidaṃ phalaṃ.
但我不认识变化无常,这果报即为礼敬佛陀的功德。

Devalokā cavitvāna, sukkamūlena codito;
离开天界,受苦根驱使;
Sāvatthiyaṃ pure jāto, mahāsāle suaḍḍhake.
生于沙瓦提城,出身显赫之家。

Pañcakāmaguṇe hitvā, pabbajiṃanagāriyaṃ;
弃舍五欲之乐,远离尘世俗务;
Jātiyā sattavassohaṃ, arahattamapāpuṇiṃ.
我生七十年后,证得阿拉汉果位。

Upasampādayī buddho, guṇamaññāya cakkhumā;
佛陀在家传戒后,具足智慧乃明眼人;
Taruṇova pūjanīyo haṃ, buddhapūjāyidaṃ phalaṃ.
如少年受敬重,我以此果献佛顶礼。

Dibbacakkhuṃ visuddhaṃ me, samādhikusalo ahaṃ;
我有天眼清净,精通禅定。
Abhiññāpāramippatto, buddhapūjāyidaṃ phalaṃ.
达到了神通的彼岸,乃是礼敬佛所获之果。

Paṭisambhidā anuppatto, iddhipādesu kovido;
获得了深究三法的智慧,善于运用神足通之力;
Saddhamme pāramippatto, buddhapūjāyidaṃ phalaṃ.
圆满正法的究竟,这便是礼敬佛所获之果。

Tiṃsakappasahassamhi, yaṃ buddhamabhipūjayiṃ;
在三万劫中,所礼敬的佛尊,
Duggatiṃ nābhijānāmi, buddhapūjāyidaṃ phalaṃ.
我不认识堕入恶道,这便是礼敬佛所获之果。

Kilesā jhāpitā mayhaṃ, bhavā sabbe samūhatā;
烦恼被我已然熄灭,轮回一切尽已消除;
Nāgova bandhanaṃ chetvā, viharāmi anāsavo.
如同脱离了蛇索的束缚,我安住于无染污之中。

Svāgataṃ vata me āsi, buddhaseṭṭhassa santikaṃ;
我获得了欢喜,亲近了佛陀圣尊。
Tisso vijjā anuppatto, kataṃ buddhassa sāsanaṃ.
三明已圆满具足,佛陀的教法已成就。

Paṭisambhidā catasso ca, vimekkhā pica aṭṭhime;
具备四种智慧觉知,第八为究竟放弃离欲。
Chaḷabhiññā sacchikatā, kataṃ buddhassa sāsanaṃti;
六通真实显现,佛陀的教法已成就。
Taṃ sutvā bahū kusalakammaparāyaṇā ahesuṃ.
听闻此法后,众多行善业者得以广泛兴起。

Sahetukā pacchimikāpi sattā,
众生自有因缘,后续亦然,
Pāpaṃ na sakkonti jahātumevaṃ;
不能执意断除恶行;
Anicchamānehi janehi dukkhaṃ,
当见苦者不愿,有恶恶行,
Ārāva pāpaṃ parivajjanīyaṃti.
应远离回避弃恶行。

二十五、关于诗人聚居地的初步说法
Jambudīpe kira coḷaraṭṭhe kāvīrapaṭṭanaṃ nāma ahosi. Tattha māhissarikā bahū micchādiṭṭhikā vasanti. Tatthekasmiṃ devālaye cittakammaṃ karontā ekasmiṃ phalake issarassa onamitvā vandanākāraṃ bhagavato rūpaṃ akaṃsu. Tasmiṃ samaye tattha bahū upāsakā taṃ devakulaṃ gantvā tattha tattha cittakammāni olokentā tasmiṃ phalake taṃ cittakammaṃ addasaṃsu. Disvāna te aho amhehi apassitabbaṃ passitaṃ. Sadevake loke samārake sabrahmake sassamaṇabrāhmaṇiyāsadevamanussāya pajāya ca aparimāṇesu cakkavāḷesu bhagavato uttaritaraṃ ṭhapetvā samasamopi natthi. Sakalehi sattanikāyehi vandanīyo pūjanīyo bhagavā. Ananurūpaṃ tassa etehi kataṃti rodantā paridevantā rājadvāraṃ gantvā ugghosesuṃ, taṃ sutvā rājā te pakkosāpetvā kasmā tumhe ugghosethāti pucchi, te eva māhaṃsu. Deva amhākaṃ bhagavā devātidevo sakkātisakko brahmātibrahmā meruva acalo sāgaro gambhīro ākāsova ananto pathavīva patthaṭotiādīhi bhagavato guṇaṃ vaṇṇesuṃ. Tena vuttaṃ apadāne.
据言在南瞻部洲,车梨国境内有一处称为诗人聚居地。彼处多有持错误见的犟牛族居住。某次,一群天人在一间寺庙中作心行,刻于一块匾额上,留下供奉礼敬世尊的图像。当时,众多在家弟子前往该天族住所,观察各处寺庙的所作心行,见到该块匾额上的心行。见之众人大惊,谓此乃我等未曾见过但今已见之殊胜。于世间所有天界、魔界、梵界、沙门、婆罗门、天非天、人非人众多世界里,均无与世尊威德匹敌者。世尊为诸众生所当敬礼、当供养者。众人闻之,哀号悲泣,奔赴王宫高喊。闻其呼声,国王质问子民:尔等何故呼喊?众答曰:此为我等尊所为。众人称世尊为天中之天、诸天之主,梵中之梵,宛如不动峰、广大海洋、无边空虚、深远浩大大地等喻,赞叹世尊功德光辉。此义载于佛迹传记中。

被细丝织成的网所包围,如同眼见的金蟾蜍;

如来自境,遍及四方,无处不在,能断除烦恼的毒害;

Satthā no bhagavā deva, mahābrahmehi vandito;
世尊彼世尊者,受诸大梵神敬礼;

天神魔王诸神,恒常敬仰尊崇无比。

Sabbesu cakkavāḷesu, ye aggā ye ca pūjitā;
诸世界统治者中,诸头领及被敬者;
Tesamaggo mahārāja, bhagavā no patāpavāti.
如大王中最尊者,世尊护佑护持我等。
Ayuttaṃ deva devakulehi kataṃti āhaṃsu. Taṃ sutvā rājā bho sabbepi manussā attano attano devatānaṃ mahantabhāvaṃ kathenti. Tumhākaṃ pana satthuno mahantabhāvaṃ kathaṃ amhākaṃ jānāpethāti, upāsakā na garu tvaṃ mahārāja phalakaṃ āharāpetvā suddhavatthena veṭhetvā taṃ attano muddikāya lañchitvā surakkhitasugopite ekasmiṃ devakule ṭhapetvā sattāhaccayena āharāpetvā taṃ oloketha, tadā no satthuno mahantānubhāvaṃ jānāthāti āhaṃsu, atha rājā tesaṃ vuttaniyāmeneva kārāpetvā antodevakule ṭhapetvā sabbadvārāni pidahitvā lañchetvā rakkheyyāthāti niyojesi. Tato te upāsakā sabbe sannipatitvā sattāhaṃ dānaṃ dentā sīlaṃ rakkhantā uposathakammaṃ karontā sabbasattesu mettiṃ bhāventā sabbasattānaṃ attanā katapuññesu pattiṃ dentā tiṇṇaṃ ratanānaṃ pūjaṃ karontā evaṃ ugghosesuṃ. Amhākaṃ katakusalanissandena loke mahiddhikā mahānubhāvā sabbe devā ca lokaṃ pālentā cattāro mahārājāno ca amhākaṃ satthuno upaṭṭhānāya ṭhitabhāvaṃ dassentūti saccakiriyaṃ akaṃsu. Atha tesaṃ puññānubhāvena tasmiṃ khaṇe sakkassa devarañño paṇḍukambalasilāsanaṃ uṇhākāraṃ dassesi. Tato so manussalokaṃ olokento micchādiṭṭhīhi kataṃ taṃ vippakāraṃ disvā saṃviggo āgantvā issaraṃ bhagavato pāde vanditvā sayitākāraṃ katvā taṃ pavattiṃ upāsakānaṃ kathetvā sakaṭṭhānameva agamāsi. Tato sattame divasepātova te sabbepi rañño santikaṃ gantvā vanditvā evamāhaṃsu. Deva issaro amhākaṃ bhagavato pāde sirasā vanditvā nipannoti. Atha rājā tesaṃ kathaṃ sutvā nagare bheriṃ carāpetvā mahājane sannipātetvā tehi parivuto devakulaṃ gantvā lañchaṃ bhindāpetvā dvāraṃ vivaritvā phalakaṃ āharāpetvā veṭhitasāṭake mocāpesi. Atha rājā ca mahājano ca taṃ mahantaṃ pāṭihāriyaṃ disvā micchādiṭṭhiṃ pahāya sabbe satthuno saraṇa magamaṃsu. Atha rājā taṃ devakulaṃ bhindāpetvā mahantaṃ ramaṇīyaṃ vihāraṃ kārāpetvā yāvajīvaṃ puññakammaṃ katvā devaloke nibbatti.
天众诸天族群曾为之说法。王听闻此语,乃对众人议论,自言诸众神祇各自具有广大尊显。尔时侍者告王:“汝等当知师尊广大威德,修行者非敬重乎?尊者大王,护法卫士奉库净物,系印章,谨慎安藏于一天族,历七日后再启示,尔时自能知师尊广大功德。”于是王命侍者依其所教,安置护卫,关闭诸门,系印封印,以防护持。遂诸侍者集聚一处,历七日供养布施,守护戒行,恪守斋戒法事,广修慈爱,并敬三宝,恭敬法典。彼等如是发扬显扬功德,所有善根丰厚,诸天众护世间且令成就。四大天王等尊师守护之至诚,宣示真实。及以功德之力,刹那之间,萨咖天帝现其翠绿华座如火焰样光明。彼则观视人间,见邪见所致诸恶果显,惊怖而至世尊足前稽首,式成卧姿,述说修行者行状,旋即归舍。第七日,众皆赴王前礼拜,复宣称:“我等天帝以头顶顶礼世尊足,敬拜降伏。”尔时王闻,城中摇鼓聚众,围绕其天族,破除封印,开门释放。王及群臣观彼大神迹,断除邪见,悉皆归依师尊。王破除天族门扉,建造宏伟庄严乐处,誓愿终生修此善法,得生天界。

Anabbhutaṃ satthu dharīyamāne,
师尊临世时未见其所动摇者,
Karonti disvā kusalāni iddhiṃ;
见众善行成就神通力;
Ye taṃ muninde parinibbutamhi,
彼于涅槃境中圣者,
Karonti puññāni mahabbhūtaṃ yeti.
成就广大功德善业,故尔彰显。

Ekasmiṃ kira samaye amhākaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ upanissāya jetavane viharati dhammadesanāya mahājanassa saggamokkhasampadaṃ dadamāno. Tasmiṃsamaye pañcasatā corā aṭavito nagaraṃ āgantvā rattibhāge corakammaṃ katvā tena puttadāre posenti. Athekadivasaṃ corā corakammatthāya nagaraṃ pavisantā nagaradvāre ekaṃ dukkhitaṃ janapadamanussaṃ passitvā hambho kattha vasatīti pucchiṃsu, so attajanā janapadavāsibhāvaṃ pakāsesi. Athassa te kasmā bho iminā dukkhavāsena vasissasi, ehi amhehi saddhiṃ corakammaṃ karonto vatthālaṅkārasampanno puttadāraṃ posehi. Iminā kapaṇavāsena na vasāti āhaṃsu. So panime yuttaṃ kathentīti tesaṃ vacanaṃ sampaṭicchi. Atha te evaṃ sati amhehi saddhiṃ āgacchāhīti vatvā naṃ gahetvā antonagaraṃ paviṭṭhā tattha tattha vilumpantā corakammaṃ akaṃsu. Tadā jānapadiko laddhavibhavo imameva varataranti tehi saddhiṃ corakammaṃ karonto jīvikaṃ kappesi, athekadivasaṃ rājapurisā katakamme te sabbeva gahetvā pacchābāhaṃ gāḷhaṃ bandhitvā kosalarañño dassesuṃ, rājā te disvā evamāha, bhaṇe tumhākaṃ antare yo etesaṃ māretvā jīvitakkhayaṃ pāpessati, tassa jīvitadānaṃ dammīti, taṃ sutvā te corā sabbe aññamaññañātisuhadasambandhabhāvena taṃ na icchiṃsu. So pana janapadavāsī manusso ahamete sabbe māressāmīti rañño vatvā tenānuññāto te sabbe māresi. Taṃ disvā tuṭṭho rājā tassa coraghātakammaṃ adāsi. So core ca vajjhappatte ca mārento pañcavīsativassāni vasanto aparabhāge mahallako ahosi. Atha so mandabalattā katipayapahārenāpi coraṃ māretuṃ na sakkoti, rājā taṃ ñatvā aññassa coraghātakammaṃ adāsi. Atha so coraghātakammā parihīno attano gehe vasati. Tadā aññataro manusso mantaṃ parivattetvā nāsāvātena manussamāraṇakamantaṃ jānāti. Tathāhi hatthapādakaṇṇanāsasīsādīsu yaṃkiñci chejjabhejjaṃ kattukāmo mantaṃ parivattetvā nāsāvātaṃ vissajjeti. Taṃ taṃ ṭhānaṃ chijjati bhijjati, evaṃ mahānubhāvo so manto, atha so taṃ purisaṃ upaṭṭhahitvā mantaṃ labhitvā rañño sāsanaṃ pesesi . Ahaṃ ito pubbe mahallakattā corānaṃ hatthapādādayo dukkhena chejja bhejjaṃ karomi, māretabbepi dukkhena māremi. Idāni panāhaṃ tathā na karomi, mama mantānubhāvena chejjabhejjakammaṃ karissāmīti. Rājā taṃ sāsanaṃ sutvā sādhūti taṃ pakkosāpetvā ṭhānantaraṃ tasseva pākatika makāsi. So tato paṭṭhāya taṃ kammaṃ karonto puna pañcavassāni atikkāmesi. So mahallako khīṇāyuko dubbalo maraṇamañcaparāyaṇo hutvā maraṇavedanādukkhena mahantena bhayānakena saddena vissaraṃ viravanto nimīlitena cakkhunā bhayānakaṃ narakaggijālāpajjalantaayakūṭamuggaradhare nirayapāle ca passanto nipanno hoti, tato tassa paṭivissakagehe manussā tassa bhayānakasaddasavaṇena gehaṃ chaṭṭetvā palāyiṃsu. Tasmiṃ kira divase mahāsāriputtatthero dibbacakkhunā lokaṃ olokentā taṃ coraghātakaṃ tadaheva kālaṃkatvā niraye nibbattamānaṃ disvā mayi tattha gate panesa mayi pasādena sagge nibbattatīti ñatvā ajja mayā tassānuggahaṃ kātuṃ vaṭṭatīti pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā tassa gharadvāra magamāsi. Atha so theraṃ disvā kuddho kopena taṭataṭāyamānadeho ajja taṃ vijjhitvā phāletvā māressāmīti nipannova mantaṃ parivattetvā nāsāvātaṃ vissajjesi, thero tasmiṃ khaṇe nirodhasamāpanno nirodhā vuṭṭhāya suriyo viya virocamāno aṭṭhāsi, atha so therassa tayo vāre tatheva katvā kiñci kātuṃ asakkonto ativiya vimhitacitto there cittaṃ pasādetvā attano paṭiyattaṃ pāyasaṃ therassa dāpesi, thero maṅgalaṃ vaḍḍhetvā vihārameva agamāsi, coraghātako therassa dinnadānaṃ anussaranto tasmiṃ khaṇe kālaṃ katvā sagge nibbatti. Aho vītarāgānaṃ buddhaputtānaṃ ānubhāvo. Evaṃ narake nibbattamānopissa balena sagge nibbattoti. Tathāhi.
一时,世尊住于舍卫城的拘尸那园,为大众讲说法义,赐予通往天界与解脱的殊胜资粮。彼时,有五百盗贼入山林,来到城中,于半夜中行盗,操贼业生养其幼子。某一日,盗贼为盗业之故进入城门,见一受苦的乡民,便问曰:「尊者汝居何处?」彼人即表明其身份乃为此地乡民。盗贼问其为何忍受此苦居住于此,邀彼与盗贼共同行盗,承诺以丰富饰品养育幼儿。乡民答曰:「以此为赖,不堪居住。」盗贼以为言合理,便同乡民往集体处,暗中行盗。当地民众闻得盗贼共盗生计之事,终日饥寒,后被国王与侍卫擒获,乃至全被拘留,随后加以严缚,呈见迦尸那国王。王见状告诫曰:「尔等之中若有人杀害同僚,犯灭罪,应献其命以偿。」盗贼互为知己挚友,皆不愿害彼。然一盗贼为乡民所杀,因而承担其命偿。国王欣悦,赐彼杀盗之重责。此盗贼既为杀犯,度过二十五年狱期,其后以体力低弱,加之混乱不堪,无法再杀盗者,国王知其状况,授他人杀盗之责。彼杀盗之责被剥夺,余生隐居家中。时有一人思虑盘旋,懂得鼻、喉、手脚、耳、鼻、头发等处切割、剥裂之妙计致人死命。此计施行处处伤残,极痛难忍。此人此策之妙用甚广,遂将此谋献给国王。王告曰:「我昔时为大盗,手足头颈等处致痛切割杀人,今不欲再为,愿于汝智慧辅助下,转为不施此苦。」国王闻此谕,嘉叹嘉许,许其留地,继续履行其业,不断超过五年。盗贼年老力衰,已近死期,临死时极为痛苦,闻噩声骇人,闭目沉沦,见狱中熊熊地狱火焰,遭受火焰熊熊之苦,终沉入苦难狱中。其家人因恐怖噪音闻之,胆裂奔逃。某日,大长老沙利子以天眼巡视人间,见该杀盗者遭地狱火焰焚烧,得知此人之业果,于是前往其家门。见老人怒气填胸,意欲杀之。大长老了知其念转变化脏鼻血涌,遂止息其意。长老顷刻达到涅槃寂灭,犹如旭日初升。杀盗者在三周之内依如是境界,惶恐不安,复以安详心平伏,献己丹乳于长老。长老心生吉祥,遂前往安住。杀盗者忆念长老所赐之惠,临终时得升天界。此乃诸无贪欲佛子之护念。于地狱中苦受虽灭,仍有力量往天界升,所以如是归结。

布施是人间之遮恶;布施是恶趣之阻。

布施是通往天界之阶梯;布施能降服彼岸之苦。

Sīlavantassa dānena, cakkavattisirimpi ca;
具戒者之布施,令天下共尊王者增辉。

获得世间功德资粮,以及出世间的安乐。

Pāpakammesu nirato, ṭhitoyaṃ narakāyane ;
常习恶业者,恒处于地狱之苦;

正如长老沙利佛在托钵布施时所受之苦。

舍弃此堕落之地,离开种种痛苦的交织;
Devasaṅghaparibbūḷho, gato devapuraṃ varaṃ.
被天众围绕,前往最佳的天宫。

Tasmā sukhette saddhāya, detha dānāni kāmadaṃ;
因此,应以信心于善地,布施称心所愿的供养。
Dānaṃ dentehi sīlampi, pālanīyaṃtisundaranti .
施舍用牙齿掰断的宝贝,也应当保护妥善且庄严美好。
Atha bhikkhū dhammasabhāyaṃ sannipatitvā nisinnā bhagavantaṃ pucchiṃsu, kiṃbhante so pāpo catūsu apāyesu katarasmiṃ nibbattoti. Atha satthā ajjesa bhikkhave sāriputtassa dinnadānānubhāvena devaloke nibbatto, tasseva nissandena anāgate paccekabuddho bhavissatīti byākāsīti.
于是比库们聚集在法会中,坐定后向世尊请问:世尊,恶人于四种不可取五法中,于何者造作?于是世尊宣说:比库们,因沙利子的施舍福德,他现生天界,将来必定缘此福德而生成为辟支佛。

Bho sāriputte nihitappadānaṃ,
沙利子啊,根基已立定,
Khaṇena pāpeti hi saggamaggaṃ;
不久便能抵达天道;
Tasmā sukhettesu dadātha dānaṃ,
故应为快乐国土者施舍,
Kāmattha ce saggamokkhaṃ parattha.
若欲得天之解脱,则应如是施舍于他处。

27. 对善信的生活中之逐步说法
Atīte kira kassapadasabalassa kāle eko puriso saddho ratanattayesu pasanno ucchuyantakammena jīvikaṃ kappento paṭivasati. Atha so ekaṃ gilānabhikkhuṃ disvā tassa uḷuṅkamattaṃ sappiṃ adāsi, tathevekassa bhikkhussa ekaṃ guḷapiṇḍaṃ adāsi, athāparasmiṃdivase ekaṃ chātajjhattaṃ sunakhaṃ disvā tassa bhattapiṇḍena saṅgaha makāsi, athekassa iṇaṭṭhakassa ekaṃ kahāpaṇaṃ adāsi, athekadivasaṃ dhammaṃ suṇamāno dhammadesakassa bhikkhussa sāṭakaṃ pūjesi, so ettakaṃ puññakammaṃ katvā bhavesu caramānohaṃ samuddapabbatādīsupi yaṃ yaṃ icchāmi. Taṃ taṃ samijjhatūti patthanaṃ akāsi, so aparabhāge kālaṃ katvā teheva kusalamūlehi suttappabuddho viya devaloke nibbattitvā tattha mahantaṃ dibbasampattiṃ anubhavitvā tato cuto amhākaṃ bhagavato kāle sāvatthiyaṃ mahaddhane mahāsālakule nibbattitvā tato so viññutaṃ patto kālena kālaṃ dhammaṃ suṇanto gharāvāse ādīnavaṃ pabbajjāya ca ānisaṃsaṃ sutvā pabbajito na cireneva arahattaṃ pāpuṇi. So aparabhāge satthāraṃ vanditvā pañcasatabhikkhuparivāro ugganagaraṃ agamāsi, tattha seṭṭhino bhariyā saddhā ahosi pasannā. Sā theraṃ pañcahi bhikkhusatehi saddhiṃ bhikkhāya carantaṃ disvā turitaturitā gantvā therassa pattaṃ gahetvā saddhiṃ pañcasatehi bhikkhūhi bhojetvā theraṃ tattha nibaddhavāsatthaṃ yācitvā pañcasatakūṭāgārāni kārāpetvā alaṅkaritvā pañcasatabhikkhū tattha vāsentī nibaddhaṃ catupaccayehi upaṭṭhānamakāsi. Tato thero taṃ pañcasu sīlesu patiṭṭhāpetvā tattha yathābhirantaṃ viharitvā aññatta gantukāmo anupubbena paṭṭanagāmaṃ agamāsi, tattha vasitvā tato nāvaṃ abhiruyha pañcasatabhikkhūhi parivuto samuddapiṭṭhena gacchati, samuddaṃ tarantassa tassa sāgaramajjhe udaravāto samuṭṭhahitvā pīḷeti, taṃ disvā bhikkhū bhante idaṃ pubbe kena vūpasamessatīti pucchiṃsu, thero pubbe me āvuso uluṅkamatte sappipīte rogo vūpasammatīti āha, bhikkhū bhante samuddapiṭṭhe kathaṃ sappiṃ labhissāma, adhivāsethāti āhaṃsu, taṃ sutvā therena na no āyasmantā sappi dullabhā, mama pattaṃ gahetvā samuddodakaṃ uddharitvā ānethāti vutte bhikkhū tathā akaṃsu. Uddhaṭamattameva taṃudakaṃ parivattetvā sappi ahosi, atha bhikkhū taṃ disvā acchariyabbhutacittā jātā therassa sappiṃ upanāmesuṃ, therena sappino pītamatte so ābādho vūpasami, athassa bhikkhūhi ki metaṃ bhante acchariyaṃ, na no ito pubbe evarūpaṃ diṭṭhapubbaṃti vutte thero tenahi katapuññānaṃ puññavipākaṃ passissathāti vatvā samuddaṃ olokesi idaṃ sappi hotūti. Athassa cakkhupathe samudde sabbodakaṃ parivattetvā sappi ahosi. Athassa bhikkhū abbhutacittā aññampi īdisaṃ puññaṃ atthi bhanteti pucchiṃsu, tato thero tenahi passathāyasmantā mama puññanti vatvā samantā tattha tattha ghanaselapabbate olokesi, sabbāni tāni guḷapiṇḍāni ahesuṃ, tato cakkhupathe samantā bhattabhājanāni dassesi sabyañjanaṃ sopakaraṇaṃ. Tato himavantaṃ olokesi, sabbaṃ taṃ suvaṇṇamayaṃ ahosi. Athābhimukhaṭṭhāne mahantaṃ vanasaṇḍaṃ olokesi, sakalavanasaṇḍaṃnānāvirāgavatthehi sañchannaṃ ahosi, bhikkhū taṃ taṃ pāṭihāriyaṃ disvā atīva vimhitā bhante kena te puññakammena etādisāni pāṭihāriyāni bhavissantīti pucchiṃsu, thero kassapadasabalassa kāle attanā kataṃ sabbaṃ taṃ kusalaṃ pakāsesi. 昔日在咖萨巴王朝强盛的时代,有一位男子为善信,心境清净,因敬奉三宝而生活。他以勤劳恭敬的行为维持生计。某日他见一位病重的比库,即予以一块粗糙的糖果;又在另一位比库面前,施以一块细腻的蜜块。又有一天,他见一位沙弥持伞及瓦器,便用食物供养他;还有一位贫穷乞丐,也施以一小钱。又有一天听法时,他以钱财供养讲经的比库,为善积功德。做成这些善行后,在人间游历时,他心中默念:愿得一切所欲,于海山诸处自由往来,不受拘碍。然后他了结此生,时至世尊在时,转生为天界,获得广大神通与无上功德,后来转生于大富之家王舍城沙瓦提,居于大舍利佛舍中。因闻闻法洁净身心,乃受出家因缘,未久便证阿拉汉果。后来供养世尊时,与五百比库同行前往乌加纳城,城中一位富豪妇人心生信诚。见那长老与众比库共同修行,便迅速领取长老的衣钵,携众比库为长老主持起居,建造了五百间房舍,并庄严装饰,使五百比库安住于此。长老守护五戒,安详自在地在那里过活。后来他不思往返舍宅,渐渐前往城镇。住在那里之后,乘舟而行,众比库环绕他,于海岸经过时,因海风盛起,激起波浪拍打舟身。众比库见状,便询问长老:比库尊者,此海浪以前是如何平息的?长老答言:吾昔时因使粗糙糖果圆满而病得痊愈。众比库又问:海岸上如何获得此糖?应住宿处耶?众人皆闻此言,谓比库所供糖极为难得。长老取出糖,提取海水滋养而带来。众比库见状,心生惊奇,争相讨糖。因饮糖而病长老得以痊愈。众比库惊奇问长老:世尊,为何此景观妙不可言?长老曰:此乃我昔生诸功德感应所现也。及至以眼观察,见海沿处流转满是甜水。众比库惊异之心益深,复问道:长老,何处有所异样功德?长老曰:汝等具足善根,随我视之,山中各处均有蜜糖块,众多蜜食陈列整齐。继而观察喜马拉雅山,尽显如黄金宝物般美好光辉。又现巨大密林,诸多林中树木皆被各种花叶装饰掩盖。众比库见此奇景,大为惊诧,问道:长老!此等奇事何以生起?为何如此妙不可思议?长老于是详述昔时咖萨巴王朝强盛时代,所作诸善业功德。至此为止。

Imasmiṃ bhaddake kappe, kassapo nāma nāyako;
在这一吉祥时代,名为咖萨巴者为导师;
Sabbalokahitatthāya, loke uppajji cakkhumā.
为护持天下利益,出世为觉醒有智慧者。

Tadāhaṃ ucchuyantamhi, niyutto guḷakārako;
当时我勤于供养甜食,受命于蜜糖制造者;
Tena kammena jīvāmi, posento puttadārake.
以此功德得以维持生命,赡养子女。

Kilantindriyamaddakkhiṃ, bhikkhuṃ rogāturaṃ tadā;
当时见一比库因病痛而疲惫,
Bhikkhācārakavattena, ghatatthaṃ samupāgataṃ.
行为如比库般端正,合乎戒律的法器来到面前。

Uluṅkamattaṃ sappissa, adadaṃ tassa bhikkhuno;
此比库摄受量中,善法修习渐多;
Saddahanto dānaphalaṃ, dayāyu daggamānaso.
以信心承受布施之果,慈悲心乐于护持。

Tena kammena saṃsāre, saṃsaranto bhavābhave;
因此业力经历轮回流转于生死之间;
Yatthicchāmi ghataṃ tattha, uppajjati anappakaṃ.
凡我所愿,便于何处产生皆永不间断。

Icchāmahaṃ samuddasmiṃ, phalampi ghatamattano;
我欲于海中,果实亦如器皿般自生自有;
Taṃ taṃ sabbaṃ ghataṃ hoti, ghatadānassidaṃ phalaṃ.
这所有诸物皆为器皿,器皿之果即为器皿赠与之果报。

Suṇātha mayhaṃ aññampi, puññakammaṃ manoramaṃ;
请听我讲他人善业,令人欣悦之功德;
Tadā disvānahaṃ bhikkhuṃ, rogena paripīḷitaṃ.
我时见一比库,被病苦所扰恼。

Guḷapiṇḍaṃ gahetvāna, patte tassa samākiriṃ;
携一团糖饼,置于其肩叶间;
Tena so sukhito āsi, rogaṃ byapagataṃ tadā.
彼时彼比库因之安乐,病痛遂得离去。

Tena me guḷadānena, saṃsaraṃ devamānuse;
因此我以甘蔗献粮,供养诸天与人间众生;
Yatthatthosmi guḷenāhaṃ, tattha taṃ sulabhaṃ mama.
我因这甘蔗得此利益,对我而言乃易得之事。

Selāca vipulā mayhaṃ, honti cittānuvattakā;
坚硬且宽广的莲花,随顺于我心;
Mahantaguḷapiṇḍāva, guḷadāne idaṃ phalaṃ.
如大堆甘蔗之聚,甘蔗供养即然生此果报。

Athāpi me kataṃ puññaṃ, suṇātha sādhu bhikkhavo;
尽管如此,我所造之功德,请比库们善闻;
Chātajjhattaṃ phandamānaṃ, disvāna sunakhaṃ tadā.
见那遮盖之大伞时,当时曾见日光皎洁之相。

Bhattapīṇḍena saṅgaṇhiṃ, tampi dānaṃ phalāvahaṃ;
因布施食物获福报,这布施亦具果报功德;
Tato paṭṭhāya nāhosi, annapānena ūnatā.
后来又戒备身心,不令饮食饮水不足。

Sulabhannapāno sukhito, ahosiṃjātijātiyaṃ;
食饮等方便可得,身心安乐,不再有生死轮回之忧;
Ajjāpi yadi icchāmi, bhojanena payojanaṃ.
今日尚且愿以饮食为依止滋养。

Cakkhupathe samantā me, jāyantukkhaliyo bahū;
我眼前遍布诸多树木生长,枝叶茂盛;
Athāparampi kusalaṃ, akāsiṃtaṃ saṇātha me.
随后我又行善,护持众生于我身边。

Iṇaṭṭhakassa posassa, adāsekaṃ kahāpaṇaṃ;
『施舍』者,谓将食物或物品赠与贫穷者,以此建立福德。
Tena me puññakammena, anomabhavasampadaṃ.
因这善业,我得现生诸善果报,升至殊胜的无上道果。

Pacuraṃ jātarūpañca, labhāmi jātijātiyaṃ;
我得清净的身体,继承生生世世的殊胜相好;
Sacajja dhanakāmohaṃ, ghanaselopi pabbato;
如山峦坚固,我破除贪欲,永断富贵迷惑;
Hoti hemamayaṃ sabbaṃ, iṇato mocane phalaṃ.
如黄金遍满所有,此为施舍解脱的果报。

Aññampi mama puññaṃ bho, suṇātha sutisobhanaṃ;
汝等亦当听我善业,闻者得清净殊胜之福报;
Kassapassa bhagavato, sāsanekaṃ bahussutaṃ.
咖萨巴世尊的教法,一法而多闻广大。

Desentaṃ munino dhammaṃ, sutvā pīṇitamānaso;
听闻那位圣人所宣说的法,心中感到欢喜欢悦;
Pūjesiṃsāṭakaṃ mayhaṃ, dhammassa dhammasāmino.
我敬礼这法宝,视为法的守护者。

Tenāhaṃ puññakammena, saṃsaraṃ devamānuse;
因此凭借善业,我在世间诸天与人间,
Labhāmi pacuraṃ vatthaṃ, yaṃ lokasmiṃ varaṃ paraṃ.
获得了美好的布施衣服,这衣服为世间至上珍贵之物。

Icchamāno sace ajja , himavantampi pabbataṃ;
今若我有所愿望,即使是喜马嘎摩山这样的高山,
Nānāvirāgavatthehi, chādayissaṃ samantato.
我将用种种无贪著的物品,从四面覆盖诸物。

Sace icchāmi ajjeva, vatthenacchādayā mite;
若我愿意就在今日,满足于覆盖这布施物;
Jantavo catudīpasmiṃ, vatthadānassidaṃ phalaṃ.
众生在四方,因布施此物而得其果报。

Etesaṃ puññakammānaṃ, vāhasā kāmabhūmiyaṃ;
这等善业所成之果,恰如运载者至欲地;
Sampatti manubhutvāna, sāvatthipura muttame.
得成就此财富后,解脱于沙瓦提城。

Jāto kule mahābhoge,
生于富贵之家,
Vuddhippatto sukhedhito;
智慧已生,享受幸福。
Tassa dhammaṃ suṇitvāna,
闻听了他的教法,
Pabbajitvāna sāsane.
已经出家于教法中。

Lokuttaraṃ aggarasaṃ, bhuñcanto munivāhasā;
超世间第一无上者,像圣人驮着的车一样承载;
Kilese pajahitvāna, arahattamapāpuṇiṃ.
斩断烦恼,已获得阿拉汉果。

Kusalaṃ nā vamantabbaṃ, khuddakanti kadācipi;
善法不可废弃,哪怕是一点也不可放弃。
Anantaphaladaṃ hoti, nibbāṇampi dadāti taṃ.
此者生无量无边之大利果,亦能给予涅槃。
Athassa dhammadesanaṃ sutvā bhikkhū ca mahājano ca dānādikusalakammaṃ katvā yebhuyyena saggaparāyaṇā ahesuṃti.
彼时,诸比库及大众听闻此法教说,乃尔作诸施舍等善业,以至多有者皆归趣天道。

Manopasādenapi appapuññaṃ,
即便心念清净,福德亦不多,
Evaṃ mahantaṃ bhavatīti ñatvā;
既已知此乃大法,
Mā appapuññanti pamajjathambho;
当莫放逸,以免失诸功德,
Sarātha deviṃ idha lājadāyiṃ.
此时,萨拉塔女神于此处施与宝果。

28. Kapaṇassa vatthumhi ayamānupubbīkathā
二十八、关于迦潘那故事的逐渐说
Amhākaṃ bhagavati parinibbute bārāṇasīnagaravāsī eko duggatapuriso paragehe bhatiṃkatvā jīvikaṃ kappeti, tasmiṃ samaye nagaravāsino yebhuyyena tasmiṃ tasmiṃ ṭhāne maṇḍapādayo kārāpetvā mahādānaṃ denti, taṃ disvā duggato evaṃ cintesi, ahaṃ pubbe akatapuññattā paragehe bhatiṃ katvā kicchena kasirena jīvāmi. Nivāsanapārupanampi vāsaṭṭhānamattammi dukkhato labhāmi. Idāni buddhuppādo vattati bhikkhusaṅghopi.
当时,我们这座巴拉那西城的居民,在世尊涅槃后,有一个堕入恶道的男子,在外室中煮食维生。那时,城里居民分别在各个地方建造供养的凉亭,施与重大布施。见此堕落者如此,他心生忧虑,思惟道:『我以前因未造善业,在外室中煮食,仅凭微薄的力量维持生命,住宿微薄,居所简陋,故受苦难。如今世尊出世,僧伽亦旺盛。』
Sabbe ime dānaṃ datvā saggamaggaṃ sodhenti. Mayāpi dānaṃ dātuṃ vaṭṭati. Tamme dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati. Api ca mayhaṃ taṇḍulanālimattampi natthi, akatavīriyena taṃ matthakaṃ pāpetuṃ na sakkā, etadatthāyāhaṃ uyyogaṃ katvā dānaṃ dassāmīti cintetvā tato paṭṭhāya bhatiṃ pariyesamāno gantvā tattha tattha bhatiṃ katvā laddhanivāpe ca bhikkhācariyāya laddhatilataṇḍulādayo ca ekattha saṃharitvā manusse samādāpetvā tasmiṃ maṇḍapaṃ kārāpetvā vanakusamādīhi taṃ alaṅkaritvā bhikkhū nimantetvā maṇḍape nisīdāpetvā sabbesaṃ pāyasaṃ paṭiyādetvā bhojesi. Atha so maraṇakāle attanā kataṃ taṃ dānavaraṃ anussari. So tena kusalakammena suttappabuddho viya devaloke nibbatti. Tasmiṃ tena katapuññānurūpaṃ mahantaṃ kanakavimānaṃ nibbatti. Samantā tigāvutaṭṭhāne devatā nānā vidhāni turiyāni gahetvā upahāraṃ karonti. Niccaṃ devaccharāsahassāni taṃ parivāretvā tiṭṭhanti. Evaṃ so mahantaṃ sampattiṃ anubhavati. Athekadivasaṃ suvaṇṇaselavihāravāsī mahāsaṅgharakkhitatthero pattapaṭisambhido devacārikaṃ caramāno taṃ devaputtaṃ anupamāya devasampattiyā virocamānaṃ disvā upasaṅkamma ṭhito tena katakammaṃ pucchi. Sopissa yathābhūtaṃ byākāsi, tenattha.
众人都行此布施,修习往生天道之法。我亦应当布施。这样,必为久远之利益与安乐。且我连一把米也无,因无精进无法制成饭,因此便起决心,要将力气用来施舍。于是他离开住处,四处寻找烧饭的地方,煮饭成粥,还将煮熟的饭与糜粥收拢,供养人间的比库。他为此建造供养凉亭,用森林的芳草装饰,邀请比库入座,供奉所有的乳糜饮食,款待他们。后来他临终时,回想自己所行的施舍之功德。因这善业,死后如佛弟子觉悟者般,生于天界。在彼际遇中,获得了相应功德的巨大金色宫殿。四周三十六处均有天神拿着各样供品来供养他。恒常被数以百计的天神环绕守护,得享无上福报。其时,住于金殿的长老——护持大僧团的老比库——巡视天界,见到这位天子身披华服,光辉灿烂,临近时询问其所为的功德与果报。男子如实陈述,老比库于是作此教诲。

此金殿全由黄金建造,宝石装饰宏伟华丽;
Soṇṇasiṅgasatākiṇṇo, duddikkho ca pabhassaro.
镶嵌金色狮子,庄严灿烂,光辉耀眼;

Kūṭāgāra satākiṇṇo, soṇṇamālāsamākulo;
屋顶也是由黄金镶嵌,悬挂着金色项链的华饰;
Muttākalāpālambanti, tattha tattha manoramā.
他们身着洁白的袈裟,坐卧之处各个清净庄严。

Nekagabbhasatākiṇṇo, sayanāsanamaṇḍito;
积聚众多众生如同蜂群,围绕着卧具与坐席;
Vibhatto bhabbabhāgehi, puññavaḍḍhakinā kato.
从各个所居的区域中,带着增长善业的因缘而来。

Naccanti pamadā tattha, bherimaṇḍalamajjhagā;
其中有人在舞动,位于击鼓场的中央;
Gāyanti kāci kīḷanti, vādenti kāci tantiyo.
有人唱歌,有人玩耍,有人演奏弦乐。

Tato tigāvute ṭhāne, pāsādassa samantato;
随后转往三十六处宫殿所在之地,环绕于宫殿四周;
Sahaccharā devaputtā, gahetvā ātatādayo.
天子们成群结伴,互相攥取,扰乱纷争。

Modanti parivāretvā, naccagītādinā sadā;
他们欢喜结党围绕,经常以舞蹈歌唱为乐;
Ullaṅghantica selenti, silāghanti samantato.
他们越界侵犯,四处放纵,恣意妄为。

Evaṃ mahiddhiko dāni, tuvaṃ vandova bhāsati;
如今你心意高傲,于是我向你致敬且开口说话;
Pucchāmi taṃ devaputta, kiṃ kammamakarī purā.
我问那天子,过去你曾作何因行?

Ahosiṃ duggato pubbe, bārāṇasīpuruttame;
过去我堕于恶趣,居于巴拉那西城的上方;
Dānaṃ denti narā tattha, nimantetvāna bhikkhavo.
人在此处布施之后,比库接受邀请而来。

Jīvanto bhatiyā sohaṃ, dānaṃ dente mahājane;
我愿在人间活着,为大众布施恩惠;
Tuṭṭhahaṭṭhe pamudite, evaṃ cintesahaṃ tadā.
心欢喜且欢腾,我当时便如此思惟。

Sampannavatthālaṅkārā, dānaṃ denti ime janā;
这些人具足世间财富与美饰,行布施善法;
Paratthapi pahaṭṭhāva, sampattimanubhonti te.
他们为他人舍弃所有,因而享受富足福报。

Buddhuppādo ayaṃ dāni, dhammo loke pavattati;
如今这佛法的兴起已然发生,世间正法正在展开传播;
Susīlā dāni vattanti, dakkhiṇeyyā jinorasā.
现在称赞那些品德良好者,他们是战胜南方的胜利者。

Anāvaṭṭhito saṃsāro, apāyā khalu pūritā;
轮回无始无终,实为痛苦充满之地;
Kalyāṇavimukhā sattā, kāmaṃ gacchanti duggatiṃ.
岂善者反向恶道,众生由于欲乐而堕恶趣。

Idāni dukkhito hutvā, jīvāmi kasirenahaṃ;
如今我心苦不堪,生活艰难如同贫瘠之地;
Daliddo kapaṇo dīno, appabhogo anālayo.
我身疲乏又泄气,贫穷困苦无所依靠。

Idāni bījaṃ ropemi, sukhette sādhusammate;
现今我种下种子,寓于善田久为所欢。
Appevanāma tenāhaṃ, parattha sukhito siyā.
『因快意而谓』,『愿他时亦得安乐』。

Iti cintiya bhikkhitvā, bhatiṃ katvāna nekadhā;
如此思惟比库已,多方欢喜欢悦;
Maṇḍapaṃ tattha kāretvā, nimantetvāna bhikkhavo.
在那里设立亭阁,召请比库们来。

Āyāsena adāsāhaṃ, pāyasaṃ amatāya so;
以精勤之力供养我,授乳无上甘露羹;
Tena kammavipākena, devaloke manorame.

具有长寿、美丽且光辉灿烂。
Evaṃ devaputto attanā katapuññakammaṃ vittārena kathesi, theropi manussalokaṃ āgantvā manussānaṃ attanā paccakkhato diṭṭhadibbasampattiṃ pakāsesi. Taṃ sutvā mahājano kusalakammaṃ katvā yebhuyyena sagge nibbattoti.
天子如此以自己所造的善业财富为因宣说,长老亦来至人间,亲自印证并显现人们所见的神通功德。众大德闻此,亦欢喜行善,妙乐在天上安住。

无碍者,即使处于恶道与痛苦之中,

Tasmiṃ samaye nāradassa bhagavato eko sāsaniko sāvako aññatarasmiṃ gāme piṇḍāya caritvā yathā dhotapattova nikkhami. Athaññatarasmiṃ gehe manussā ekaṃ taṇḍulanāḷiṃpoṭalikāya bandhitvā udake pakkhipitvā pacitvā udakaṃ gahetvā pivanto jīvanti, tadā theraṃ disvā vanditvā pattaṃ gahetvā tena taṇḍulena bhattaṃ pacitvā patte pakkhipitvā therassa adaṃsu. Atha tesaṃ saddhābalena sā ukkhali bhattena paripuṇṇā ahosi, te taṃ abbhutaṃ disvā ayyassa dinnadāne vipāko ajjeva no diṭṭhoti somanassajātā mahājanaṃ sannipātetvā te bhattaṃ bhojetvā pacchā sayaṃ bhuñjiṃsu. 此前,传说奈陀尊者于正觉者时代,有一座以某个名字著称的岛屿。曾于某时遇饥荒困苦,遭遇严酷旱灾,众生受大寒鸷鸟的威胁而苦难沉重。彼时,奈陀尊者身为世尊的弟子,曾于某乡村托钵化缘,归来时如同衣袋洗净般清洁。当地有人以一捆稻草编成小筐,投于水中,烧熟后取水饮用,以此自养。适逢长老现身,众人见而敬礼,取下一片树叶,用此稻草烹食饭食,烧熟后将饭食放于树叶上呈送长老。由此信力增盛,彼时米饭充盈,众人见此奇异景象,因尊者所赐供养果报于当日显现,大众相聚共食此饭后,亦自行食用。这饭食之所藏之地亦充盈无缺。此后众人扶持伟大的布施善行,临终后往生天界。长老食毕饭后,携带饭食前往某树下欲坐食。时有一名天子于树上现身,见长老安详静坐,佩戴华冠,立于其侧。长老不动,继续进食。天子放下花环,在进食时轻叹自知身形。长老见之,生起了疑惑,将余饭置于天子手中。天子接食,伫立沉思。曾思前世,自己或为沙门婆罗门中最后的贫困乞食者,如今即便作天亦难获此饭。今日将此饭呈予长老,希望此举对其有永久利益。思量如此,放下饭食,走向长老,称此为世间所需之供养。天子将饭食置于树下三十处神圣之地,诸天食奉。天子向长老五拜,随后取神食,初次施予,自己食用。第二日复前来,给予长老及大众伟大布施。临终时亦往生天界,享六欲天之乐,经历诸天世间福报。彼时,薄伽梵迦叶尊者降生王舍城,人间富裕之家,而其中一家怀有邪见。父母察觉其邪见,见满黄金珍宝之阁楼后,未做布施行为,往生他界,仅带走寥寥少许物品。彼尊者携带此供养,进入深林出家,修行止观,证得五果八定,成就虚空行者。此时,世尊名为薄伽梵,住于鸿萨瓦提城,周围诸天梵众环绕,正在宣说四圣谛法。彼时世尊于虚空游行,显圣放光,见众多人民会集,堂堂威仪现于世间,令众惊叹。世尊降临,坐于安静处,听法欢喜,向佛礼拜而去。于是此尊者延长寿命,往生忉利天,三十亿大劫享神福,历数诸欲天间往复轮转。至五十一岁时为天帝,二十二岁时为转轮王,人间享盛世,于正觉者涅槃后,生于某沙瓦提城某贵族家,寿命七十年。转轮王曾见一位比库宣说法,前来闻法内心生无常观,坐下即得阿拉汉果位。此后此转轮王,举目省察自己所作善行,彰显昔日比库行径,说道:“由此。”

奈陀者,正觉者之前为人中杰出者;

解脱世间诸苦,给予永恒之境。

他走到树根那里,树神便在那里。

我给了食物和饭团,内心充满悲悯;

我过去未经许可,没有施舍什么良善的供养;

我常常受苦受难,乃至生为天道众生。

今日此田地虽贫瘠,却亦有天命存在;

说罢我即奉献,饮食亦乐于与人分享;

然后,离开查德国王那里,找到了大威光明;

在那里久住,经由两种力量调合而成。

距今有十万劫以前,名为波闍波陀陀摩,他生成了;

当时他大有神力,身处森林的苦行之地;

具足五种圆满智慧,于空中自在行走。

彼时我驱车前往,至欢娱美丽的鸿赞提城;

闻法后我心生欢喜,遵守时间礼敬师长;

Tiṃsakappasahassāni, caranto devamānuse;
经历三万生世,如同来往于天人世间;

我未曾认识恶趣之境,却获得广大安乐。

Ekapaññāsatikkhattuṃ, devarajjamakārayiṃ;
一百五十生世中,我建造天帝王宫;

Codito puññakammena, sāvatthipuramuttame;
因善业力感召,生于上座沙瓦提城;

出生于最尊贵的家族,生时享有七十年寿命。

Sutvā dhammaṃ kathentassa, bhikkhussaññatarassahaṃ;
闻听有比库讲述法义,以诸比库为证;
Bhavassantaṃ karitvāna, arahattamapāpuṇiṃ.
因出离生死而得成就,最终获阿拉汉果。

Sudinnaṃ me tadā dānaṃ, sussutaṃ dhammamuttamaṃ;
彼时我受其施予,闻其无上正法;
Dukkhassantaṃ akāsāhaṃ, tassa kammassa vāhasāti.
远离痛苦无有虚妄,彼因业力承担此果。
Evañca pana vatvā bahū jane kusalakamme niyojesīti.
然而,如是所说,许多人被善法业所感召,从而投身于善业之中。

Dānenapevaṃ carimāya piṇḍiyā,
给予行乃至于随财施彼施,
Savaṇāya dhammassa muhuttakena;
于法闻听虽短暂时刻,
Labhanti sattā tividhampi sampadaṃ,
众生得三种丰盛利益:
Phalaṃ vade ko bahudāyakassa bho.
果报何者?这是多福者之果报。

30. Sīvalittherassa vatthumhi ayamānupubbīkathā
三十、此为长老悉婆梨在其住处所作之渐次说法。
Ito kira kappasatasahassamatthake padumuttaro nāma satthā loke udapādi dhammadesanāya satte amatamahānibbāṇaṃ pāpento, tasmiṃ samaye bhagavā haṃsāvatiyaṃ sarājikāya parisāya majjhe ekaṃ bhikkhuṃ lābhīnaṃ aggaṭṭhāne ṭhapesi. Tadā rājā taṃ disvā taṃ ṭhānaṃ kāmayamāno buddhapamukhassa saṅghassa mahādānaṃ datvā bhagavato pādamūle sirasā nipajji, tadāssa bhagavā anāgate gotamassa bhagavato sāsane taṃ ṭhānaṃ labhissasīti vatvā byākāsi. Taṃ sutvā mudito rājā puññāni katvā devaloke nibbatti. Tato aparabhāge bārāṇasiyaṃ seṭṭhiputto hutvā paccekabuddhasahassaṃ catupaccayadānena yāvajīvaṃ paṭijaggitvā devaloke nibbatto mahantaṃ sampatti manubhavitvā tato cuto vipassissa bhagavato kāle bandhumatīnagare aññatarasmiṃ kulagehe nibbatti. So tasmiṃ samaye senaguttaṭṭhāne ṭhatvā rañño kammaṃ karoti, tadā nagaravāsino upāsakagaṇā vipassīsammāsambuddhaṃ upasaṅkamma vanditvā bhagavā bhante sasāvako amhākaṃ anuggahaṃ karotūti svātanāya nimantetvā mahādānaṃ datvā sabbe ekacchandā bhagavanta muddissa mahārahaṃ mahāpariveṇaṃ kārāpetvā pariveṇamahe mahādānaṃ dadantā dānagge asukaṃ nāma natthīti na vattabbanti vatvā dānaṃ paṭiyādetvā dānaggaṃ olokentā navadadhiñca paṭalamadhuñca apassantā purise pakkositvā sahassaṃ datvā dadhimadhuṃ khippaṃ pariyesitvā ānethāti pesesuṃ, te sahassaṃ gahetvā dadhimadhuṃ upadhāretuṃ tattha tattha vicarantā dvārantare aṭṭhaṃsu, tadā ayaṃ senagutto rañño sabhattaṃ dadhimadhuṃ ādāya gacchanto mahādvāraṃ sampāpuṇi, atha te dadhimadhuṃ disvā bho kahāpaṇaṃ gahetvā imaṃ dehīti yāciṃsu. Tena na dassāmīti vutte yāvasahassaṃ vaḍḍhetvā yāciṃsu. Tato senagutto imaṃ appagghaṃ sahassena yācatha, ki manena karothāti pucchi, tehi sambuddhatthāyāti vutte tenahi ahameva dassāmīti jīramaricādīhi sakkharamadhuphāṇitādayo yojetvā dānaggaṃ upanāmesi. Taṃ satthu ānubhāvena buddhapamukhassa aṭṭhasaṭṭhibhikkhusatasahassassa pahoṇakaṃ ahosi. Tato so tena puññakammena devamanussalokesu sampatti manubhavitvā aparabhāge amhākaṃ bhagavato kāle koliyanagare mahālilicchavirañño upanissāya suppiyāya nāma aggamahesiyā kucchismiṃ paṭisandhiṃ gaṇhi. So sattamāsasattasaṃvaccharāni mātukucchiyaṃ vasitvā sattadivasāni mūḷhagabbho dukkhamanubhavi. Mātukucchito nikkhamantassa tassa mātāpitaro sīvalīti nāma makaṃsu. Evaṃ mahāpuññassa ettakaṃ kālaṃ mātukucchimhi dukkhānubhavanaṃ attanāva katena pāpabalena ahosi, so kira atīte rājā hutvā attano sapattaraññā saddhiṃ saṅgāmento mātarā saddhiṃ mantesi. Sā nagaraṃ rundhitvā amitte gaṇhituṃ sakkāti upāya madāsi, sopi tassā vacanena nagaraṃ rundhitvā sattame divase aggahesi, tena pāpakammabalena mātāputtānaṃ evaṃ mahantaṃ dukkhaṃ ahosīti. Tato sā puttaṃ vijāyanakāle sattame divase bhagavantaṃ anussaritvā sukhena bhāraṃ muñci. Tuṭṭhā sā sattame divase buddhapamukhassa bhikkhusaṅghassa mahādānaṃ adāsi, athassā putto sattavassikakāle gehā nikkhamma satthāraṃ disvā pabbajjaṃ yāci. Satthā sāriputtattherassa niyojesi, tato sāriputtattherena upajjhāyena moggallānamācariyaṃ katvā pabbaji, atha so khuraggeyeva arahattaṃ patvā buddhasāsanaṃ sobhesi, so pubbe katapuññānubhāvena mahāpuñño ahosi lābhīnañca aggo. Athekasmiṃ samaye bhagavā revatattheraṃ dassanāya khadiravanavihāraṃ gacchanto tiṃsabhikkhusahassehi saddhiṃ tiṃsayojanikaṃ chaṭṭitakantāraṃ sampāpuṇi nirūdakaṃ appabhakkhaṃ. Yebhuyyena devatā sīvalitthere pasannā. Tasmā bhagavā sīvalittheraṃ purato cārikaṃ katvā devatāhi kārāpite vihāre vasanto devatāhi sajjitadānaṃ paribhuñjanto revatattheraṃ saṃpāpuṇitvā gatakammaṃ niṭṭhāpetvā jetavanamāgamma lābhīnaṃ aggaṭṭhāne taṃ ṭhapesīti. Tena vuttaṃ apadāne.
这在一百千个劫的末期,有一位名为波头摩多罗的导师在世间出现,为众生宣说法,成就不死的伟大涅槃。当时世尊即「鸿鹭河畔」净宫僧众之中,为一位求得法的比库,在讲坛上设立一席。国王见到此地,心生欢喜,遂以大施财供养佛陀及其僧团,至佛足下顶礼膜拜。世尊宣说未来果德玛佛时代将得此地,国王听闻欣喜行善,后生于天界。后来于巴拉那西一商家子息,终身因布施数千辟支佛,并得天界富贵;其后,即逝于有亲属的家中备受尊崇。此人在当时军团驻地为国主工作,城中众多居士及信众共迎正觉者毗婆尸佛,向佛恳敬祈愿,佛陀亲自应允并赐大施,令大众心愿成就。众人皆欢喜,听闻佛陀赞说无不善报者,宣说布施果报,并迅速积聚甘露蜜,分散送与一千人,且随行传递,至城门时,一众军士携带甘露蜜前来,行至大门,民众见之竞技索取甘露蜜。因无所见,扩大规模索求。军人随即以千数邀愿,反问他们为何如此行,答曰为佛之利益。军人以老年蜜蜂、蜜类及侠客之蜂蜜制成布施物资。佛之加持下,为八千六百余比库供养。于是因善业成就在人间及天界享乐。事后于果德玛佛时代,在拘尸那城,依止大厉利七王及正妻苏比亚女建立和合。该人居住七十七载,在七日中胎母痛苦难忍。胎母命终时其父母名西婆利为设宴招待。因耄耋长者倍受苦难,且曾为王,与胞兄协议筹谋。胎母弃城,谋私仇害,其妻以言语威胁使其归城,至第七日因其罪业显现,乃致父母亲承受极大痛苦。此时其子诞生,于第七日忆念佛陀,放下痛苦。卫舍尼心安且于第七日赠与佛及僧众大施。此子七岁时出家,见导师便乞戒,导师以沙利弗老长者委付其为师。由师父摩诃迦叶祖师引导入道,遂于此地速得阿拉汉果位,令佛法昌盛,彼因前生功德,成大福德首领。某时佛遶行柯利耶城,陪同三万比库,过三十由旬阔地与佛陀行至柏树林精舍,食不及量。众天皆欢喜西婆利长老。于是佛于西婆利长老前分担行脚,住于天神所祝福之精舍,复捐施使众生安乐,并于树林庵中为福德首领设席讲坛。此义载于经中传记。

Manujāmaranāgānaṃ, brahmānañca samāgame;
在人、魔、天人、梵天诸众聚集时。
Samaṇabrāhmaṇākiṇṇe, dhammaṃ deseti nāyako.
游方婆罗门比库聚集之处,领袖宣说佛法。

Sasāvakaṃ mahālābhiṃ, puññavantaṃ jutindharaṃ,
那位广施大福报、具足功德的首领弟子,
Ṭhapesi etadaggamhi, parisāsu visārado.
将此殊胜法坚立于僧团中,能辨才智广大。

Tadāhaṃ khattiyo āsiṃ, pure haṃsavatīvhaye ;
那时我为刹帝利,居于前世鸿萨城;
Sutvā jinassa taṃ vākyaṃ, sāvakassa guṇaṃ bahuṃ.
闻得胜佛圣言,深知弟子诸多功德。

Nimantayitvā sattāhaṃ, bhojayitvā sasāvakaṃ;
曾于世尊处受请,供养长达七日,供养一切弟子;
Mahādānaṃ daditvāna, taṃ ṭhānamabhipatthayiṃ.
施舍大布施后,即朝那个地方前往。

Tadā maṃ vinataṃ pāde, disvāna purisāsabho;
那时众人见我恭敬俯首,犹如见到人中之王;
So sarena mahāvīro, imaṃ vacanamabravī.
那勇猛的伟士便对我说了这番话。

Tato jinassa vacanaṃ, sotukāmā mahājanā;
随即很多诸大贤人渴听如来教诲;
Devadānavagandhabbā, brahmānoca mahiddhikā.
其中有天神、异人及香气芬芳者,梵天等权势尊贵者亦然。

9.
Samaṇabrāhmaṇā cāpi, namassisuṃ katañjalī;
出家人及婆罗门也都合掌礼拜。
Namo te purisājañña, namo te purisuttama.
礼敬于你,众生中最具智慧者,礼敬于你,人中至尊。

10.
Khattiyena mahādānaṃ, dinnaṃ sattāhakampi no;
即使给予贵族战士巨大的财物,持续七十年也不足为多;
Sotukāmā phalaṃ tassa, byākarohi mahāmune.
如欲得闻彼果,愿大圣说示开显。

11.
Tato avoca bhagavā, suṇotha mama bhāsitaṃ;
于是世尊说:请听我所说;
Appameyyamhi buddhasmiṃ, guṇamhi suppatiṭṭhitā.
在无比高尚的佛陀身上,德行坚固稳固。

Dakkhiṇā dāyakaṃ patvā, appameyyaphalāvahā;
若作为南方的施主,给予无上果报之礼;
Api ce sa mahābhogo, ṭhānaṃ pattheti muttamaṃ.
若此人为大富有者,得至尊位。

13.
Lābhī vipulalābhīnaṃ, yathā bhikkhu sudassano;
获利广大众多,如比库苏达萨那;
Tathāhaṃpi bhaveyyanti, lacchate taṃ anāgate.
我亦如是生起,将得未来的果位。

14.
Satasahassito kappe, okkākakulasambhavo;
历百千劫,猿猱族中;
Gotamonāma nāmena, satthā loke bhavissati.
名为果德玛者,当为世间师。

15.
Tassa dhammesu dāyādo, oraso dhammanimmito;
其法之中,守护者制定法法相者。
Sīvali nāma nāmena, hessati satthusāvako.
名为悉伽梨者,将成为佛陀的弟子。

16.
Tena kammena sukatena, cetanāpaṇidhīhi ca;
由于那善行,以及心之所愿愿力;
Jahitvā mānusaṃ dehaṃ, tāvatiṃsūpago ahaṃ.
抛弃了人身,我曾为三十六天的天众首领。

17.
Tatoparasmiṃsamaye, bārāṇasipuruttame;
继而到了下一世,在最上妙的巴拉那城;
Seṭṭhiputto ahaṃ āsiṃ, aḍḍhappatto mahādhano.
我曾为富商之子,是一名得到一半财富的巨富。

18.
Sahassamatte pacceka, nāyake ca nimantiya;
约有千位各自的领袖受到钦敬;
Madhurenannapānena, santappesiṃtadādaro.
以甘美的食物与饮水供养,表示恭敬与礼敬。

19.
Tato cuto chakāmagge, anubhosiṃmahāyasaṃ;
继而于大贤者的前方,安住于喜悦之中;
Devaccharāparivuto, pāsāde ratanāmaye.
周围环绕着诸天护持,居于宝石构成的殿堂之中。

20.
Evaṃ acintiyā buddhā, buddhadhammā acintiyā;
诸佛以无念为持,诸佛法亦以无念而立;
Acintiye pasannānaṃ, vipākopi acintiyo.
对无念者内心清净,对于果报也是无法思议的。

21.
Ekanavutito kappe, vipassīnāma nāyako;
第九百零一劫中,有名为毗婆尸的导师;
Uppajji cārunayano, sabbadhammavipassako.
此者为善目生,通达一切法慧观照者。

22.
Tadāhaṃ bandhumatiyā, kulassaññatarassa ca;
当时我有亲属亲族,家族中有知名者;
Dayito patthito putto, āsiṃ kammantabyāvaṭo.
有爱护敬重的儿子,承担应当承担的事。

23.
Tadā aññataro pūgo, vipassissa mahesino;
其时有一大军团,归属于慧观察的大圣;
Pariveṇaṃ akāresi, mahanta miti vissutaṃ.
为其亲属谋划,所为事业被广为传扬。

24.
Niṭṭhite ca mahādānaṃ, dadaṃ khajjakasaṃyutaṃ;
大施尽已完成,施与携带琵琶者。
Navaṃ dadhi madhuñceva, vicinaṃ na ca maddasa.
如新鲜乳汁与蜂蜜相似,尝之却无甜味。

Tadāhaṃ taṃ gahetvāna, navaṃ dadhi madhumpica,
当时我取了这新鲜乳汁与蜂蜜,
Kammasāmigharaṃ gacchaṃ, tamenaṃ dāna maddasaṃ.
携带作布施礼物前往。

26.
Sahassampi ca datvāna, na latiṃsu ca taṃ dvayaṃ;
即使给予了一千倍,也莫能折服这两者;
Tato evaṃ vicintesiṃ, netaṃ hessati orakaṃ.
于是我反复思虑,断定此非成就之道。

27.
Yathā ime janā sabbe, sakkaronti tathāgataṃ;
正如所有众生皆崇敬如来,
Ahampi kāraṃ kassāmi, sasaṅghe lokanāyake.
我也当作何事,作为众僧的世间导师?

Tadāhamevaṃ cintetvā, dadhiṃmadhuñca ekato;
当时我思惟如是,将酸乳与蜜合一处,
Yojetvā lokanāthassa, sasaṅghassa adāsahaṃ.
调和献与那世尊,即那众僧的领袖。

29.
Tena kammena sukatena, cetanāpaṇidhīhi ca;
凭借此善业,善行智慧,以及坚定的心愿,
Jahitvā mānusaṃ dehaṃ, tāvatiṃsa magañchahaṃ.
舍弃人身,去往忉利天。

30.
Punāhaṃ bārāṇasiyaṃ, rājā hutvā mahāyaso;
我复作巴拉那西王,威名显赫高贵。
Sattukassa tadā ruddho, dvārarodhaṃ akārayiṃ.
那时,为了满足欲乐,他受阻,设置门户阻挡。

Tato sapattino ruddhā, ekāhaṃ rakkhitā ahuṃ;
于是诸欲皆被阻止,我独自被保护。
Tato tassa vipākena, pāpuṇiṃ nirayaṃ bhusaṃ.
因此他遭受果报,堕落到恶趣地狱。

Pacchime ca bhave dāni, jātohaṃ koliye pure;
现今在后世,今生生于拘利族中;
Suppavāsā ca me mātā, mahāli licchavī pitā.
母亲庄严富有,我父为大力利叉婆族人。

33.
Khattiye puññakammena, dvārarodhassa vāhasā;
以施行功德之贵族身份,担当门户守护者职责;
Sattamāse sattavasse, vasiṃkucchimhi dukkhito.
第七个月第七天,我在瓦辛谷中心怀痛苦。

Sattāhaṃ dvāramūḷhohaṃ, mahādukkhasamappito;
我懵懂无知,受极大苦难所困。
Mātā me chandadānena, eva māsi sudukkhitā.
我母亲因我好施惜财,故而这一月非常痛苦。

35.
Suvatthitohaṃ nikkhanto, buddhena anukampito;
受世尊慈悲,我当日出家修行,离开家门。
Nikkhantadivaseyeva, pabbajiṃ anagāriyaṃ.
出家之日,我便离弃俗家,出家为无家行者。

36.
Upajjhā sāriputto me, moggallāno mahiddhiko;
我的上师是沙利佛,摩嘎喇那力大勇猛。
Kese oropayanto me, anusāsi mahāmati.
大智者曾教诲我,当我剪断发束时。

Kesesu chijjamānesu , arahattamapāpuṇīṃ;
在发束被剪除之时,已得阿拉汉果。
Devo nāgā manussā ca, paccayānu panenti me.
天人、龙众与人类,因缘条件汇集于我。

38.
Padumuttaranāmañca, vipassiṃca vināyakaṃ;
莲足尊众,及毗婆尸尊者为首。
Saṃpūjayiṃ pamudito, paccayehi visesato.
我欢喜恭敬供养,专尊因缘之所成就。

39.
Tato tesaṃ vipākena, kammānaṃ vipuluttamaṃ;
因彼诸因缘成就,所作业力显广大。
Lābhaṃ labhāmi sabbattha, vane gāme jale thale.
我无论身处林野乡村,水域陆地,处处皆能获得利益。

40.
Revataṃ dassanatthāya, yadā yāti vināyako;
为了观察雷瓦达,当那无所率领者前往时;
Tiṃsabhikkhusahassehi, saha lokagganāyako.
携三千比库众,与那世间诸尊同往。

Tadā devo panītehi , mamatthāya mahāmati;
当时诸天以乐意支持我,偕我这具大智想法者;
Paccayehi mahāvīro, sasaṅgho lokanāyako.
凭诸因缘与那伟勇者、僧团,成为世间领袖。

42.
Upaṭṭhito mayā buddho, gantvā revatamaddasa;
诸佛由我侍奉,前去见雷瓦达。
Tato jetavanaṃ gantvā, etadagge ṭhapesimaṃ.
于是前往揭德林,将坛场安置于彼处。

43.
Lābhīnaṃ sīvali aggo, mama sissesu bhikkhavo;
具足利益者西维利为首,是我比库们的导师;
Sabbelokahito satthā, kittayī parisāsumaṃ.
为全世界利益的世尊,在众弟子中广传美名。

44.
Kilesā jhāpitā mayhaṃ, bhavā sabbe samūhatā;
烦恼已被我熄灭,一切生死束缚皆已断除;
Nāgova bandhanaṃ chetvā, viharāmi anāsavo.
如同断绝龙蛇的束缚,我无染著地安住。

45.
Svāgataṃ vata me āsi, buddhaseṭṭhassa santikaṃ;
实乃欢喜倍增,我得亲近佛陀世尊。
Tisso vijjā anuppatto, kataṃ buddhassa sāsanaṃ.
三种明智未曾具足,佛陀的教法是何种?

46.
Paṭisambhidā catassopi, vimokkhā pica aṭṭhime;
分别智俱足,解脱第四,因果清净;
Chaḷabhiññā sacchikatā, kataṃ buddhassa sāsananti.
六种大神通真实显现,此即佛陀的教法。
Itthaṃ sudaṃ āyasmā sīvalitthero imā gāthāyo abhāsitthāti.
是故,具寿尊者西瓦利长老如此唱诵偈语。

47.
Sutvāna etaṃ caritaṃ mahabbhutaṃ,
闻此伟大殊胜的行持,
Puññānubhāvañca siriṃ sirīmataṃ;
及善业功德的城堡富贵;
Hitvā kusītaṃ kusalaṃ karotha,
摒弃恶业,行善业,
Kāmāttha kāmaṃ bhavabhoganibbutiṃ.
以欲望为目的而生欲望的抑止。
