1. Brahmāyācanasuttaṃ
172如是我闻:有一次,世尊刚成正觉不久,住在优楼频螺村尼连禅河岸边的阿阇波罗榕树下。那时,世尊独自在僻静处禅修时,心里生起了这样的思惟:“我所证得的这个法,是甚深的、难见的、难解的、寂静的、微妙的、超越思惟推论的领域、只有智者才能体会的。可是,世间众生却乐于执著、喜爱执著、欢喜执著。对于这样乐于执著、喜爱执著、欢喜执著的众生来说,这个被称为‘此缘性、缘起’的道理,是很难看透的。这个称为‘一切行的止息、一切执取的舍离、渴爱的灭尽、离欲、灭、涅槃’的道理,也同样难以看透。我如果去教导这个法,而别人又不理解我,那只会让我感到疲劳,只会让我受到困扰而已。”于是,世尊心中浮现出这些前所未有的、不同寻常的偈颂:
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā uruvelāyaṃ viharati najjā nerañjarāya tīre ajapālanigrodhamūle paṭhamābhisambuddho. Atha kho bhagavato rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi – ‘‘adhigato kho myāyaṃ dhammo gambhīro duddaso duranubodho santo paṇīto atakkāvacaro nipuṇo paṇḍitavedanīyo. Ālayarāmā kho panāyaṃ pajā ālayaratā ālayasammuditā. Ālayarāmāya kho pana pajāya ālayaratāya ālayasammuditāya duddasaṃ idaṃ ṭhānaṃ yadidaṃ idappaccayatāpaṭiccasamuppādo. Idampi kho ṭhānaṃ duddasaṃ yadidaṃ sabbasaṅkhārasamatho sabbūpadhipaṭinissaggo taṇhākkhayo virāgo nirodho nibbānaṃ. Ahañceva kho pana dhammaṃ deseyyaṃ; pare ca me na ājāneyyuṃ; so mamassa kilamatho, sā mamassa vihesā’’ti. Apissu bhagavantaṃ imā anacchariyā gāthāyo paṭibhaṃsu pubbe assutapubbā –
5“我是历经艰难才证得的,现在没必要去宣讲它了;
‘‘Kicchena me adhigataṃ, halaṃ dāni pakāsituṃ;
6对于那些被贪欲和嗔恨主宰的人来说,这个法是不容易了悟的。
Rāgadosaparetehi, nāyaṃ dhammo susambudho.
7“这法是逆流而上的、微妙的、甚深的、难见的、精细的;
‘‘Paṭisotagāmiṃ nipuṇaṃ, gambhīraṃ duddasaṃ aṇuṃ;
8那些贪爱的人看不见它,因为他们被无明的重暗遮蔽着。”
Rāgarattā na dakkhanti, tamokhandhena āvuṭā’’ti .
9那时,世尊这样思惟着,心倾向于不喜作为,而不倾向于说法。
Itiha bhagavato paṭisañcikkhato appossukkatāya cittaṃ namati, no dhammadesanāya.
10当时,娑婆主梵天以心了知世尊心中的思惟,这样想到:“唉!这世间真的要毁灭了!这世间真的要败亡了!如来、阿拉汉、正自觉者的心竟然倾向于不喜作为,而不倾向于说法。”于是,娑婆主梵天就像一位大力士屈伸手臂那样,从梵天界消失,出现在世尊面前。那时,娑婆主梵天将上衣偏袒一肩,右膝跪在地上,朝着世尊合掌,对世尊这样说:“尊者!请世尊说法!请善逝说法!有些众生只带有少许尘垢,如果不听闻法,就会退堕;一定会有了解法的人出现。”娑婆主梵天这样说过之后,接着又说了这些偈颂:
Atha kho brahmuno sahampatissa bhagavato cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya etadahosi – ‘‘nassati vata bho loko, vinassati vata bho loko, yatra hi nāma tathāgatassa arahato sammāsambuddhassa appossukkatāya cittaṃ namati , no dhammadesanāyā’’ti. Atha kho brahmā sahampati – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya, pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya evameva – brahmaloke antarahito bhagavato purato pāturahosi. Atha kho brahmā sahampati ekaṃsaṃ uttarāsaṅgaṃ karitvā dakkhiṇajāṇumaṇḍalaṃ pathaviyaṃ nihantvā yena bhagavā tenañjaliṃ paṇāmetvā bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘desetu, bhante, bhagavā dhammaṃ, desetu sugato dhammaṃ. Santi sattā apparajakkhajātikā, assavanatā dhammassa parihāyanti. Bhavissanti dhammassa aññātāro’’ti. Idamavoca brahmā sahampati, idaṃ vatvā athāparaṃ etadavoca –
11“过去在摩揭陀国,曾经出现过
‘‘Pāturahosi magadhesu pubbe,
12被有垢染者所思考的不清净的法;
Dhammo asuddho samalehi cintito;
13请打开这扇不死之门,
Apāpuretaṃ amatassa dvāraṃ,
14让他们听闻无垢者所彻悟的法。”
Suṇantu dhammaṃ vimalenānubuddhaṃ.
15就像站在石山的最高处,
‘‘Sele yathā pabbatamuddhaniṭṭhito,
16能遍见四周所有的人;
Yathāpi passe janataṃ samantato;
17同样地,明智者啊,请您登上正法所成的宫殿,
Tathūpamaṃ dhammamayaṃ sumedha,
18您这位具一切眼者,
Pāsādamāruyha samantacakkhu;
19请以无忧之心,俯视那些沉陷在忧愁中、
Sokāvatiṇṇaṃ janatamapetasoko,
20被生老压垮的人们。
Avekkhassu jātijarābhibhūtaṃ.
21“站起来,英雄,浴血的胜者,商队导师,无债而行于世间吧。请宣说法吧,世尊,必有人能了悟其义。”
‘‘Uṭṭhehi vīra vijitasaṅgāma,
22那时,世尊明白了梵天的劝请,又出于对众生的悲悯,便以佛眼观察世间。世尊以佛眼观世间时,看见众生:有的眼里只有少量尘垢,有的积满厚厚的尘垢;有的根器敏锐,有的根器迟钝;有的相貌良善,有的相貌粗恶;有的容易开导,有的难以开导;有的一类,是住于看见他世罪过与怖畏的人,有的一类,是不住于看见他世罪过与怖畏的人。就像在一片青莲池、红莲池或白莲池里,有的青莲、红莲、白莲生于水中,长于水中,贴着水面生长,沉在水底滋养;有的青莲、红莲、白莲生于水中,长于水中,恰好与水面齐平;有的青莲、红莲、白莲生于水中,长于水中,伸出水面挺立,不沾滴水。同样地,世尊以佛眼观世间时,看见众生:有的眼里只有少量尘垢,有的积满厚厚的尘垢;有的根器敏锐,有的根器迟钝;有的相貌良善,有的相貌粗恶;有的容易开导,有的难以开导;有的一类,是住于看见他世罪过与怖畏的人,有的一类,是不住于看见他世罪过与怖畏的人。看见了之后,他以偈颂回应娑婆主梵天:
Satthavāha anaṇa vicara loke;
23“对那些有耳可听的人来说,‘不死’之门已然敞开,
Desassu bhagavā dhammaṃ,
24将会有了知者。」
Aññātāro bhavissantī’’ti.
25那时,世尊知道了梵天的请求,并且出于对众生的悲悯,以佛眼审视世间。世尊以佛眼审视世间,看见众生有少尘垢者、多尘垢者,有利根者、钝根者,有善相者、恶相者,有易教导者、难教导者,一些住于见来世罪过和怖畏,一些不住于见来世罪过和怖畏。犹如在青莲池或红莲池或白莲池中,一些青莲或红莲或白莲生于水中、长于水中、没入水下而滋养,一些青莲或红莲或白莲生于水中、长于水中、立于水面,一些青莲或红莲或白莲生于水中、长于水中、出离水面而立、不被水所沾染;正是如此,世尊以佛眼审视世间,看见众生有少尘垢者、多尘垢者,有利根者、钝根者,有善相者、恶相者,有易教导者、难教导者,一些住于见来世罪过和怖畏,一些不住于见来世罪过和怖畏。见已,以偈颂回答梵天萨含巴帝──
Atha kho bhagavā brahmuno ca ajjhesanaṃ viditvā sattesu ca kāruññataṃ paṭicca buddhacakkhunā lokaṃ volokesi. Addasā kho bhagavā buddhacakkhunā lokaṃ volokento satte apparajakkhe mahārajakkhe tikkhindriye mudindriye svākāre dvākāre suviññāpaye duviññāpaye, appekacce paralokavajjabhayadassāvine viharante, appekacce na paralokavajjabhayadassāvine viharante. Seyyathāpi nāma uppaliniyaṃ vā paduminiyaṃ vā puṇḍarīkiniyaṃ vā appekaccāni uppalāni vā padumāni vā puṇḍarīkāni vā udake jātāni udake saṃvaḍḍhāni udakānuggatāni anto nimuggaposīni, appekaccāni uppalāni vā padumāni vā puṇḍarīkāni vā udake jātāni udake saṃvaḍḍhāni samodakaṃ ṭhitāni, appekaccāni uppalāni vā padumāni vā puṇḍarīkāni vā udake jātāni udake saṃvaḍḍhāni udakā accuggamma ṭhitāni anupalittāni udakena; evameva bhagavā buddhacakkhunā lokaṃ volokento addasa satte apparajakkhe mahārajakkhe tikkhindriye mudindriye svākāre dvākāre suviññāpaye duviññāpaye, appekacce paralokavajjabhayadassāvine viharante, appekacce na paralokavajjabhayadassāvine viharante. Disvāna brahmānaṃ sahampatiṃ gāthāya paccabhāsi –
26「为彼等开甘露之门,
‘‘Apārutā tesaṃ amatassa dvārā,
27愿那些有耳者,放下他们的信赖吧;我原本怀着会被看成是有伤害意图的顾虑,才没有说出那在人类之中如此殊胜的法。梵天啊。
Ye sotavanto pamuñcantu saddhaṃ;
28那时,娑婆主梵天心想:'世尊已经为我开了讲法的方便。'于是,他向世尊礼敬,右绕之后,就在那里消失了。
Vihiṃsasaññī paguṇaṃ na bhāsiṃ,
29我是这样听到的:有一次,世尊住在优楼频螺的尼连禅河岸边,一棵牧羊人的榕树下,那时他刚刚完全觉悟。当时,世尊独自安静地待着,心里生起了这样的思虑:'没有恭敬、没有顺从地生活,真是苦啊。我应该去礼敬、尊重哪一位沙门或婆罗门,然后依靠着他而住呢?'
Dhammaṃ paṇītaṃ manujesu brahme’’ti.
30接着,世尊又这样想:'我若是因为某一部分的戒蕴还不圆满,而去礼敬、尊重另一位沙门或婆罗门,然后依靠着他而住——这回事是不存在的。可是,在诸天、魔罗、梵天所构成的世间,在沙门、婆罗门、天与人所构成的众生当中,我看不到有哪一位沙门或婆罗门,在戒德的成就上比我自己更圆满,能够让我去礼敬、尊重,然后依靠着他而住。'
Atha kho brahmā sahampati ‘‘katāvakāso khomhi bhagavatā dhammadesanāyā’’ti bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā tatthevantaradhāyīti.
312. 恭敬经
2. Gāravasuttaṃ
173如是我闻:一时,世尊住在伍儒韦拉,尼连禅河岸边,山羊牧者榕树下,初成正觉。
时世尊独自禅思,心生如是思惟:「无恭敬而住是苦的,无尊重而住是苦的。我应恭敬、尊重哪位沙门或婆罗门,依止而住呢?」
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā uruvelāyaṃ viharati najjā nerañjarāya tīre ajapālanigrodhamūle paṭhamābhisambuddho. Atha kho bhagavato rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi – ‘‘dukkhaṃ kho agāravo viharati appatisso, kaṃ nu khvāhaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyya’’nti?
33「无所恭敬、无所尊重而住,实为苦住。我应恭敬、尊重何沙门、婆罗门,依止而住,令我戒蕴未圆满者得圆满?然于天、魔、梵之世间,于沙门、婆罗门、天、人之众中,我不见有比我戒更具足之余沙门、婆罗门,令我可以恭敬、尊重,依止而住。
Atha kho bhagavato etadahosi – ‘‘aparipuṇṇassa kho sīlakkhandhassa pāripūriyā aññaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyyaṃ . Na kho panāhaṃ passāmi sadevake loke samārake sabrahmake sassamaṇabrāhmaṇiyā pajāya sadevamanussāya attanā sīlasampannataraṃ aññaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā, yamahaṃ sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyyaṃ.
34“为了圆满还有欠缺的定蕴,我亲近、恭敬、尊重并依止另一位沙门或婆罗门而住。然而,在天界世间……乃至……我看不到有谁在定上比我更圆满,值得我去亲近、恭敬、尊重并依止。
‘‘Aparipuṇṇassa kho samādhikkhandhassa pāripūriyā aññaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyyaṃ. Na kho panāhaṃ passāmi sadevake loke…pe… attanā samādhisampannataraṃ aññaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā, yamahaṃ sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyyaṃ.
35“为了圆满还有欠缺的慧蕴,我亲近、恭敬、尊重并依止另一位沙门或婆罗门而住。然而,在天界世间……乃至……我看不到有谁在慧上比我更圆满,值得我去亲近、恭敬、尊重并依止。
‘‘Aparipuṇṇassa paññākkhandhassa pāripūriyā aññaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyyaṃ. Na kho panāhaṃ passāmi sadevake…pe… attanā paññāsampannataraṃ aññaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā, yamahaṃ sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyyaṃ.
36“为了圆满还有欠缺的解脱蕴,我亲近、恭敬、尊重并依止另一位沙门或婆罗门而住。然而,在天界世间……乃至……我看不到有谁在解脱上比我更圆满,值得我去亲近、恭敬、尊重并依止。
‘‘Aparipuṇṇassa kho vimuttikkhandhassa pāripūriyā aññaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyyaṃ. Na kho panāhaṃ passāmi sadevake…pe… attanā vimuttisampannataraṃ aññaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā, yamahaṃ sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyyaṃ.
37“为了圆满还有欠缺的解脱知见蕴,我亲近、恭敬、尊重并依止另一位沙门或婆罗门而住。然而,在天界世间、魔界世间、梵天世间,在沙门婆罗门众、天与人当中,我看不到有谁在解脱知见上比我更圆满,值得我去亲近、恭敬、尊重并依止。那么,我不如就恭敬、尊重并依止我所彻底觉悟的这个法而住。”
‘‘Aparipuṇṇassa kho vimuttiñāṇadassanakkhandhassa pāripūriyā aññaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyyaṃ. Na kho panāhaṃ passāmi sadevake loke samārake sabrahmake sassamaṇabrāhmaṇiyā pajāya sadevamanussāya attanā vimuttiñāṇadassanasampannataraṃ aññaṃ samaṇaṃ vā brāhmaṇaṃ vā, yamahaṃ sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyyaṃ. Yaṃnūnāhaṃ yvāyaṃ dhammo mayā abhisambuddho tameva dhammaṃ sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihareyya’’nti.
38那时,娑婆主梵天以心了知世尊心中的思维——就像一个大力士把弯曲的手臂伸直,或把伸直的手臂弯曲那么快——从梵天界消失,出现在世尊面前。娑婆主梵天把上衣搭在一肩,向着世尊合掌行礼,对世尊这样说:“正是如此,世尊!正是如此,善逝!尊者,过去那些阿拉汉、正自觉者,他们也全都恭敬、尊重并依止法而住;尊者,未来那些阿拉汉、正自觉者,他们也将全都恭敬、尊重并依止法而住。尊者,现在的世尊,阿拉汉、正自觉者,也请恭敬、尊重并依止法而住。”娑婆主梵天说了这些,说完之后又接着说:
Atha kho brahmā sahampati bhagavato cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya evameva – brahmaloke antarahito bhagavato purato pāturahosi. Atha kho brahmā sahampati ekaṃsaṃ uttarāsaṅgaṃ karitvā yena bhagavā tenañjaliṃ paṇāmetvā bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘evametaṃ , bhagavā, evametaṃ, sugata! Yepi te, bhante, ahesuṃ atītamaddhānaṃ arahanto sammāsambuddhā, tepi bhagavanto dhammaññeva sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya vihariṃsu; yepi te, bhante, bhavissanti anāgatamaddhānaṃ arahanto sammāsambuddhā tepi bhagavanto dhammaññeva sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya viharissanti. Bhagavāpi, bhante, etarahi arahaṃ sammāsambuddho dhammaññeva sakkatvā garuṃ katvā upanissāya viharatū’’ti. Idamavoca brahmā sahampati, idaṃ vatvā athāparaṃ etadavoca –
39“过去那些正觉者,以及未来的诸佛陀,
‘‘Ye ca atītā sambuddhā, ye ca buddhā anāgatā;
40现今这位正自觉者,消除众多人的忧愁。
Yo cetarahi sambuddho, bahūnaṃ sokanāsano.
41所有尊重正法的人,曾如此安住,如今也如此安住;
‘‘Sabbe saddhammagaruno, vihaṃsu viharanti ca;
42将来他们也将如此安住,这是诸佛的法则。
Tathāpi viharissanti, esā buddhāna dhammatā.
43因此,想要自我利益、渴望崇高成就的人,
‘‘Tasmā hi attakāmena , mahattamabhikaṅkhatā;
44应当恭敬正法,忆念诸佛的教诫。
Saddhammo garukātabbo, saraṃ buddhāna sāsana’’nti.
453. 梵天天经
3. Brahmadevasuttaṃ
174如是我闻:有一次,世尊住在舍卫城的祇树给孤独园。那时,有一位婆罗门女,她的儿子名叫梵天提婆,在世尊面前从在家出家,过起了无家的生活。
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Tena kho pana samayena aññatarissā brāhmaṇiyā brahmadevo nāma putto bhagavato santike agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajito hoti.
47那时,梵天提婆尊者独自隐居,不放逸、勤奋、精进,不久便在此生中亲自以智慧证得了那无上的圆满梵行,这正是良家子弟正确出家的目的所在。他明确知道:“生已尽,梵行已立,应作已做,不再有来生。”梵天提婆尊者成为了一位阿拉汉。
Atha kho āyasmā brahmadevo eko vūpakaṭṭho appamatto ātāpī pahitatto viharanto nacirasseva – yassatthāya kulaputtā sammadeva agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajanti, tadanuttaraṃ brahmacariyapariyosānaṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja vihāsi. ‘‘Khīṇā jāti , vusitaṃ brahmacariyaṃ, kataṃ karaṇīyaṃ, nāparaṃ itthattāyā’’ti abbhaññāsi. Aññataro ca panāyasmā brahmadevo arahataṃ ahosi.
48那时,梵天提婆尊者在午前时分,穿好下衣,拿着钵和衣,进入舍卫城托钵。在舍卫城次第托钵时,他走到了自己母亲的住处。那时,梵天提婆尊者的母亲,那位婆罗门女,正持续地供奉着对梵天的祭品。这时,娑婆主梵天心里想:“这位梵天提婆尊者的母亲,那位婆罗门女,一直持续地供奉着对梵天的祭品。我何不去她那里,激发她的警醒呢?”于是,娑婆主梵天就像一位大力士弯曲伸直的手臂那样迅速,从梵天界消失,出现在梵天提婆尊者母亲的住处。随后,娑婆主梵天站在空中,以偈颂对梵天提婆尊者的母亲,那位婆罗门女说道:
Atha kho āyasmā brahmadevo pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya sāvatthiṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Sāvatthiyaṃ sapadānaṃ piṇḍāya caramāno yena sakamātu nivesanaṃ tenupasaṅkami. Tena kho pana samayena āyasmato brahmadevassa mātā brāhmaṇī brahmuno āhutiṃ niccaṃ paggaṇhāti . Atha kho brahmuno sahampatissa etadahosi – ‘‘ayaṃ kho āyasmato brahmadevassa mātā brāhmaṇī brahmuno āhutiṃ niccaṃ paggaṇhāti. Yaṃnūnāhaṃ taṃ upasaṅkamitvā saṃvejeyya’’nti. Atha kho brahmā sahampati – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya, pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya evameva – brahmaloke antarahito āyasmato brahmadevassa mātu nivesane pāturahosi. Atha kho brahmā sahampati vehāsaṃ ṭhito āyasmato brahmadevassa mātaraṃ brāhmaṇiṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
49“婆罗门女,你一直供奉的那个梵天世界,离这里很远。
‘‘Dūre ito brāhmaṇi brahmaloko,
50你持续为之献祭的那个目标,
Yassāhutiṃ paggaṇhāsi niccaṃ;
51婆罗门女,梵天的食物并非这种供养,
Netādiso brāhmaṇi brahmabhakkho,
52你并不知道梵天之道,为何还在那里念叨不停?”
Kiṃ jappasi brahmapathaṃ ajānaṃ .
53婆罗门女啊,这位梵天提婆比丘——
‘‘Eso hi te brāhmaṇi brahmadevo,
54他已无执着,超越了天神的境界;
Nirūpadhiko atidevapatto;
55他一无所有,身为比丘不养育他人,
Akiñcano bhikkhu anaññaposī,
56他就是那位进入你家乞食的人。
Yo te so piṇḍāya gharaṃ paviṭṭho.
57他堪受供养,通达吠陀,已修治自心,
‘‘Āhuneyyo vedagu bhāvitatto,
58他是人与天神应施与供养的对象;
Narānaṃ devānañca dakkhiṇeyyo;
591. 初品
1. Paṭhamavaggo
60他已断除诸恶,不被尘垢沾染,
Bāhitvā pāpāni anūpalitto,
61在乞食之中行走,内心清凉寂静。
Ghāsesanaṃ iriyati sītibhūto.
62他既无挂碍未来,也无留恋过去,
‘‘Na tassa pacchā na puratthamatthi,
63宁静而无烟焰,无忧亦无期盼;
Santo vidhūmo anigho nirāso;
64对于一切懦弱与刚强者,他完全放下了棍杖,
Nikkhittadaṇḍo tasathāvaresu,

66他已解除系缚,心得寂静,

67如调伏的龙象,安稳而行,无有渴爱;

68这位比丘戒德具足,心善解脱,
Bhikkhu susīlo suvimuttacitto,
69愿他享用你这供养的最上施食。
So tyāhutiṃ bhuñjatu aggapiṇḍaṃ.
70你对他有净信,毫不动摇,
‘‘Tasmiṃ pasannā avikampamānā,
71请将布施建立在应受供养者之上;
Patiṭṭhapehi dakkhiṇaṃ dakkhiṇeyye;
72做福德吧,那会带来未来的安乐。
Karohi puññaṃ sukhamāyatikaṃ,
73婆罗门女见到了已渡过暴流的牟尼。
Disvā muniṃ brāhmaṇi oghatiṇṇa’’nti.
74对他生起了不动摇的净信,
‘‘Tasmiṃ pasannā avikampamānā,
75她把供养施予了应受供养者;
Patiṭṭhapesi dakkhiṇaṃ dakkhiṇeyye;
76她做了能带来未来安乐的福德,
Akāsi puññaṃ sukhamāyatikaṃ,
77婆罗门女见到了已渡过暴流的牟尼。
Disvā muniṃ brāhmaṇī oghatiṇṇa’’nti.
784. 巴咖梵天经
4. Bakabrahmasuttaṃ
175如是我闻:有一次,世尊住在舍卫城……在那里,世尊对比丘们说:"比丘们。"那些比丘回答世尊:"尊者。"世尊这样说——
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati…pe… tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘bhikkhavo’’ti. ‘‘Bhadante’’ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca –
80那时,世尊以自己的心了解了婆迦梵天的心念,就好像一个大力士弯曲或伸直手臂那样快,在祇园消失,出现在了那个梵天界。婆迦梵天看见世尊从远处走来。看到后对世尊说:“来吧,贤者!欢迎你,贤者!好久不见了,贤者!你终于肯安排来这里了。贤者,这是恒常的,这是坚固的,这是永久的,这是完全的,这是不会消逝之法;因为这既不生,不老,不死,不消逝,不转生。而且除此之外,没有其他的、更高的出离了。”
Atha kho bhagavā bakassa brahmuno cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya, pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya evameva – jetavane antarahito tasmiṃ brahmaloke pāturahosi. Addasā kho bako brahmā bhagavantaṃ dūratova āgacchantaṃ. Disvāna bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘ehi kho mārisa, svāgataṃ te, mārisa! Cirassaṃ kho mārisa! Imaṃ pariyāyamakāsi yadidaṃ idhāgamanāya. Idañhi, mārisa, niccaṃ, idaṃ dhuvaṃ, idaṃ sassataṃ, idaṃ kevalaṃ, idaṃ acavanadhammaṃ, idañhi na jāyati na jīyati na mīyati na cavati na upapajjati. Ito ca panaññaṃ uttari nissaraṇaṃ natthī’’ti.
81听了这话,世尊对婆迦梵天说:“婆迦梵天真是陷在无明里了,婆迦梵天真是陷在无明里了。明明是无常的,他却说是恒常的;明明是不坚固的,他却说是坚固的;明明不是永久的,他却说是永久的;明明不是完全的,他却说是完全的;明明是会消逝之法,他却说成是不会消逝之法。而且,对于那个有生、老、死、消逝、转生之处,他却这样宣称:‘这不生、不老、不死、不消逝、不转生。’明明存在着另一更高的出离,他却说‘没有另外的、更高的出离’。”
Evaṃ vutte, bhagavā bakaṃ brahmānaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘avijjāgato vata, bho, bako brahmā; avijjāgato vata, bho, bako brahmā. Yatra hi nāma aniccaṃyeva samānaṃ niccanti vakkhati, adhuvaṃyeva samānaṃ dhuvanti vakkhati, asassataṃyeva samānaṃ sassatanti vakkhati, akevalaṃyeva samānaṃ kevalanti vakkhati, cavanadhammaṃyeva samānaṃ acavanadhammanti vakkhati. Yattha ca pana jāyati ca jīyati ca mīyati ca cavati ca upapajjati ca, tañca tathā vakkhati – ‘idañhi na jāyati na jīyati na mīyati na cavati na upapajjati’. Santañca panaññaṃ uttari nissaraṇaṃ, ‘natthaññaṃ uttari nissaraṇa’nti vakkhatī’’ti.
82“乔达摩啊,我凭着七十二种福业,
‘‘Dvāsattati gotama puññakammā,
83获得了自在威力,超越了生老病死;
Vasavattino jātijaraṃ atītā;
84这是最终、明达者所投生的梵天,”
Ayamantimā vedagū brahmupapatti,
85各式各样的人都贪求于此。
Asmābhijappanti janā anekā’’ti.
86这确实短促,并非长寿,
‘‘Appañhi etaṃ na hi dīghamāyu,
87婆迦啊,你所以为的长寿,
Yaṃ tvaṃ baka maññasi dīghamāyuṃ;
88百千尼罗浮陀,
‘‘Sataṃ sahassānaṃ nirabbudānaṃ,
89梵天啊,我知道你的寿命。
Āyuṃ pajānāmi tavāhaṃ brahme’’ti.
90我是见无限的世尊。
‘‘Anantadassī bhagavāhamasmi,
91你已超越了生、老和忧苦;
Jātijaraṃ sokamupātivatto;
92你过去的誓愿和戒行是什么?
Kiṃ me purāṇaṃ vatasīlavattaṃ,
93请你告诉我,让我能知道。
Ācikkha me taṃ yamahaṃ vijaññā’’ti.
94你曾经解救过许多人,
‘‘Yaṃ tvaṃ apāyesi bahū manusse,
95在他们饥渴、炎热、疲惫不堪的时候;
Pipāsite ghammani samparete;
96这是你过去的戒行与誓愿,
Taṃ te purāṇaṃ vatasīlavattaṃ,
97如同从沉睡中醒来的人,我忆念起它。
Suttappabuddhova anussarāmi.
98那时在诶尼河岸,有被抓走的人,
‘‘Yaṃ eṇikūlasmiṃ janaṃ gahītaṃ,
99那个正被拖去祭祀的人,我把他解救了出来;
Amocayī gayhakaṃ nīyamānaṃ;
100那是你往昔的誓愿与持戒,
Taṃ te purāṇaṃ vatasīlavattaṃ,
101就像从沉睡中醒来一样,我忆起了那些往事。
Suttappabuddhova anussarāmi.
102那条在恒河水流中被抓住的船,
‘‘Gaṅgāya sotasmiṃ gahītanāvaṃ,
103以巨大的龙象之身,为度化人;
Luddena nāgena manussakamyā;
104你以力量强制解救弱者,
Pamocayittha balasā pasayha,
105那就是你过去的誓愿和戒行。
Taṃ te purāṇaṃ vatasīlavattaṃ,
106就像从沉睡中醒来一样,我忆起了那些往事。

107过去劫中你曾修头陀行,
‘‘Kappo ca te baddhacaro ahosiṃ,
108你以为那持守誓愿者便是觉者;
Sambuddhimantaṃ vatinaṃ amaññi;
109你过去的誓愿与戒行,
Taṃ te purāṇaṃ vatasīlavattaṃ,
110就像刚睡醒的人,我记得清清楚楚。
Suttappabuddhova anussarāmī’’ti.
111你确实知道我的这个寿命,
‘‘Addhā pajānāsi mametamāyuṃ,
112其他的你也知道,因为你是佛陀;
Aññepi jānāsi tathā hi buddho;
113你那光辉夺目的威光,
Tathā hi tyāyaṃ jalitānubhāvo,
114正照耀着这梵天界。
Obhāsayaṃ tiṭṭhati brahmaloka’’nti.
1155. 某梵天经
5. Aññatarabrahmasuttaṃ
176起因在舍卫城。那时,某位梵天心里生起了这样邪恶的见解:'没有哪个沙门或婆罗门能来到这里的。' 世尊以他的心感知了那位梵天内心的想法后,就像一位强壮的男子……(中略)……出现在了那个梵天界。接着,世尊在比那位梵天更高的虚空中,以盘腿的姿势坐下,进入了火界定。
Sāvatthinidānaṃ . Tena kho pana samayena aññatarassa brahmuno evarūpaṃ pāpakaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ uppannaṃ hoti – ‘‘natthi so samaṇo vā brāhmaṇo vā yo idha āgaccheyyā’’ti. Atha kho bhagavā tassa brahmuno cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso…pe… tasmiṃ brahmaloke pāturahosi. Atha kho bhagavā tassa brahmuno upari vehāsaṃ pallaṅkena nisīdi tejodhātuṃ samāpajjitvā.
117那时,具寿大目犍连尊者心想:'世尊现在在哪里住着呢?' 具寿大目犍连尊者以清净、超越凡人界限的天眼,看见世尊在比那位梵天更高的虚空中,盘腿坐着,进入了火界定。看到后,就像一位强壮的男子把弯曲的手臂伸直,或把伸直的手臂弯曲一样快,他在祇树给孤独园消失,出现在了那个梵天界。接着,具寿大目犍连尊者面朝东方,在比那位梵天更高的虚空中,以盘腿的姿势坐下,进入了火界定,位置比世尊稍低一些。
Atha kho āyasmato mahāmoggallānassa etadahosi – ‘‘kahaṃ nu kho bhagavā etarahi viharatī’’ti? Addasā kho āyasmā mahāmoggallāno bhagavantaṃ dibbena cakkhunā visuddhena atikkantamānusakena tassa brahmuno upari vehāsaṃ pallaṅkena nisinnaṃ tejodhātuṃ samāpannaṃ. Disvāna – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya, pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya evameva – jetavane antarahito tasmiṃ brahmaloke pāturahosi. Atha kho āyasmā mahāmoggallāno puratthimaṃ disaṃ nissāya tassa brahmuno upari vehāsaṃ pallaṅkena nisīdi tejodhātuṃ samāpajjitvā nīcataraṃ bhagavato.
118那时,具寿大迦叶尊者心想:'世尊现在在哪里住着呢?' 具寿大迦叶尊者以天眼看见世尊……(中略)……看到后,就像一位强壮的男子……(中略)……一样快,他在祇树给孤独园消失,出现在了那个梵天界。接着,具寿大迦叶尊者面朝南方,在比那位梵天更高的虚空中,以盘腿的姿势坐下,进入了火界定,位置比世尊稍低一些。
Atha kho āyasmato mahākassapassa etadahosi – ‘‘kahaṃ nu kho bhagavā etarahi viharatī’’ti? 119那时,具寿大劫宾那尊者心想:'世尊现在在哪里住着呢?' 具寿大劫宾那尊者以天眼看见世尊……(中略)……进入了火界定。看到后,就像一位强壮的男子……(中略)……一样快,他在祇树给孤独园消失,出现在了那个梵天界。接着,具寿大劫宾那尊者面朝西方,在比那位梵天更高的虚空中,以盘腿的姿势坐下,进入了火界定,位置比世尊稍低一些。
Atha kho āyasmato mahākappinassa etadahosi – ‘‘kahaṃ nu kho bhagavā etarahi viharatī’’ti? Addasā kho āyasmā mahākappino bhagavantaṃ dibbena cakkhunā…pe… tejodhātuṃ samāpannaṃ. Disvāna – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso…pe… evameva – jetavane antarahito tasmiṃ brahmaloke pāturahosi. Atha kho āyasmā mahākappino pacchimaṃ disaṃ nissāya tassa brahmuno upari vehāsaṃ pallaṅkena nisīdi tejodhātuṃ samāpajjitvā nīcataraṃ bhagavato.
120那时,具寿阿那律尊者心想:'世尊现在在哪里住着呢?' 具寿阿那律尊者……(中略)……进入了火界定。看到后,就像一位强壮的男子……(中略)……出现在了那个梵天界。接着,具寿阿那律尊者面朝北方,在比那位梵天更高的虚空中,以盘腿的姿势坐下,进入了火界定,位置比世尊稍低一些。
Atha kho āyasmato anuruddhassa etadahosi – ‘‘kahaṃ nu kho bhagavā etarahi viharatī’’ti? Addasā kho āyasmā anuruddho…pe… tejodhātuṃ samāpannaṃ. Disvāna – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso…pe… tasmiṃ brahmaloke pāturahosi. Atha kho āyasmā anuruddho uttaraṃ disaṃ nissāya tassa brahmuno upari vehāsaṃ pallaṅkena nisīdi tejodhātuṃ samāpajjitvā nīcataraṃ bhagavato.
121那时,具寿大目犍连用偈子对那位梵天说:
Atha kho āyasmā mahāmoggallāno taṃ brahmānaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
122“朋友,你以前持有的那个见解,现在还在吗?你看见那超越梵天界的光明了吗?”
‘‘Ajjāpi te āvuso sā diṭṭhi, yā te diṭṭhi pure ahu;
123“贤友,我以前的那个见解,已经不在我心中了。我看见那超越梵天界的光明;既然这样,我今天怎会说‘我是常、我是永恒’呢?”
Passasi vītivattantaṃ, brahmaloke pabhassara’’nti.
124那时,世尊让那位梵天心生惕惧之后,就像一位大力士弯曲或伸直手臂那样,从那个梵天界消失,出现在祇树给孤独园。然后,那位梵天对某位梵辅天说:“来,贤友,你到大目犍连尊者那里去;到了之后,对大目犍连尊者这样说:‘目犍连贤友,那位世尊的其他弟子,是否也有像目犍连尊者、大迦叶尊者、迦旃延尊者、阿那律尊者这样的大神通、大威力呢?’”那位梵辅天回答那位梵天:“是的,贤友。”然后他便去到大目犍连尊者那里;到了之后,对大目犍连尊者这样说。于是,大目犍连尊者以偈颂回答那位梵辅天:
‘‘Na me mārisa sā diṭṭhi, yā me diṭṭhi pure ahu;
125我见梵天界之光辉超越者;
Passāmi vītivattantaṃ, brahmaloke pabhassaraṃ;
126今日我如何能说『我是常、恒』?」
Svāhaṃ ajja kathaṃ vajjaṃ, ahaṃ niccomhi sassato’’ti.
127于是,世尊使那位梵天感动后——犹如有力的男子伸展屈曲的手臂,或屈曲伸展的手臂,如是——从那个梵天界消失,出现在祇园。于是,那位梵天召唤某位梵天众成员:「来吧,亲爱的,请你前往具寿玛哈目犍连处;前往后,请对具寿玛哈目犍连如是说:『亲爱的目犍连,是否还有彼世尊的其他弟子也是如此大神通、如此大威力;犹如尊者目犍连、迦叶、咖毕那、阿那律?』」「是的,亲爱的」,那位梵天众成员回答了那位梵天后,前往具寿玛哈目犍连处;前往后,对具寿玛哈目犍连如是说:「亲爱的目犍连,是否还有彼世尊的其他弟子也是如此大神通、如此大威力;犹如尊者目犍连、迦叶、咖毕那、阿那律?」于是,具寿玛哈目犍连以偈颂对那位梵天众成员说:
Atha kho bhagavā taṃ brahmānaṃ saṃvejetvā – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya, pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya evameva – tasmiṃ brahmaloke antarahito jetavane pāturahosi. Atha kho so brahmā aññataraṃ brahmapārisajjaṃ āmantesi – ‘‘ehi tvaṃ, mārisa, yenāyasmā mahāmoggallāno tenupasaṅkama; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmantaṃ mahāmoggallānaṃ evaṃ vadehi – ‘atthi nu kho, mārisa moggallāna, aññepi tassa bhagavato sāvakā evaṃmahiddhikā evaṃmahānubhāvā ; seyyathāpi bhavaṃ moggallāno kassapo kappino anuruddho’’’ti? ‘‘Evaṃ, mārisā’’ti kho so brahmapārisajjo tassa brahmuno paṭissutvā yenāyasmā mahāmoggallāno tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmantaṃ mahāmoggallānaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘atthi nu kho, mārisa moggallāna, aññepi tassa bhagavato sāvakā evaṃmahiddhikā evaṃmahānubhāvā; seyyathāpi bhavaṃ moggallāno kassapo kappino anuruddho’’ti? Atha kho āyasmā mahāmoggallāno taṃ brahmapārisajjaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
128“他们具足三明,成就神通,善知他心;
‘‘Tevijjā iddhipattā ca, cetopariyāyakovidā;
129是灭尽烦恼的阿拉汉,佛陀的众多弟子。”
Khīṇāsavā arahanto, bahū buddhassa sāvakā’’ti.
130那时,那位梵天随从对尊者大目犍连所说的话感到欢喜、赞许之后,便前往那位梵天那里。到了之后,对那位梵天说:“贤友尊者,大目犍连尊者这样说——
Atha kho so brahmapārisajjo āyasmato mahāmoggallānassa bhāsitaṃ abhinanditvā anumoditvā yena so brahmā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā taṃ brahmānaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘āyasmā mārisa, mahāmoggallāno evamāha –
131“他们具足三明,成就神通,善知他心;
‘‘Tevijjā iddhipattā ca, cetopariyāyakovidā;
132是灭尽烦恼的阿拉汉,佛陀的众多弟子。”
Khīṇāsavā arahanto, bahū buddhassa sāvakā’’ti.
133那位梵天随从说了这番话。那位梵天心怀喜悦,对那位梵天随从的话表示随喜。
Idamavoca so brahmapārisajjo. Attamano ca so brahmā tassa brahmapārisajjassa bhāsitaṃ abhinandīti.
1346. 梵天界经
6. Brahmalokasuttaṃ
177起源于舍卫城。那时,世尊正在白天静处独处。这时,善梵独处梵天和净居独处梵天两位来到世尊这里。到了之后,他们各自靠在一根门柱旁站着。接着,善梵独处梵天对净居独处梵天这样说:“尊敬的,现在还不是拜见世尊的时候,世尊正在白天静处独处呢。而有那么一个梵天界,既富饶又繁荣,那里的梵天却过着放逸的生活。尊敬的,我们去那个梵天界吧。到了那里,让那位梵天生起警觉。” “好的,尊敬的。”净居独处梵天回应善梵独处梵天说。
Sāvatthinidānaṃ. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā divāvihāragato hoti paṭisallīno. Atha kho subrahmā ca paccekabrahmā suddhāvāso ca paccekabrahmā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā paccekaṃ dvārabāhaṃ upanissāya aṭṭhaṃsu. Atha kho subrahmā paccekabrahmā suddhāvāsaṃ paccekabrahmānaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘akālo kho tāva, mārisa, bhagavantaṃ payirupāsituṃ; divāvihāragato bhagavā paṭisallīno ca. Asuko ca brahmaloko iddho ceva phīto ca, brahmā ca tatra pamādavihāraṃ viharati. Āyāma, mārisa, yena so brahmaloko tenupasaṅkamissāma; upasaṅkamitvā taṃ brahmānaṃ saṃvejeyyāmā’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ , mārisā’’ti kho suddhāvāso paccekabrahmā subrahmuno paccekabrahmuno paccassosi.
136于是,善梵独处梵天和净居独处梵天——就像一位强壮的人……同样的方式——从世尊面前消失,出现在那个梵天界里。那位梵天远远地看见这两位梵天过来。看到之后,他对那两位梵天这样说:“哎呀,尊敬的两位,你们这是从哪里来啊?” “尊敬的,我们是从那位世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者那里来的。尊敬的,你是否也应该去侍奉那位世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者呢?”
Atha kho subrahmā ca paccekabrahmā suddhāvāso ca paccekabrahmā – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso…pe… evameva – bhagavato purato antarahitā tasmiṃ brahmaloke pāturahesuṃ. Addasā kho so brahmā te brahmāno dūratova āgacchante. Disvāna te brahmāno etadavoca – ‘‘handa kuto nu tumhe, mārisā, āgacchathā’’ti? ‘‘Āgatā kho mayaṃ, mārisa, amha tassa bhagavato santikā arahato sammāsambuddhassa. Gaccheyyāsi pana tvaṃ, mārisa, tassa bhagavato upaṭṭhānaṃ arahato sammāsambuddhassā’’ti?
137听了这话,那位梵天不愿意接受这番话,他变化出一千个自己的化身,然后对善梵独处梵天这样说:“尊敬的,你看见我这样神通威力了吗?” “尊敬的,我看见你这样神通威力了。” “尊敬的,我既然有这么大的神通、这么大的威力,又何必去侍奉其他的沙门或婆罗门呢?”
Evaṃ vutto kho so brahmā taṃ vacanaṃ anadhivāsento sahassakkhattuṃ attānaṃ abhinimminitvā subrahmānaṃ paccekabrahmānaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘passasi me no tvaṃ, mārisa, evarūpaṃ iddhānubhāva’’nti? ‘‘Passāmi kho tyāhaṃ, mārisa, evarūpaṃ iddhānubhāva’’nti. ‘‘So khvāhaṃ, mārisa, evaṃmahiddhiko evaṃmahānubhāvo kassa aññassa samaṇassa vā brāhmaṇassa vā upaṭṭhānaṃ gamissāmī’’ti?
138于是,善梵独处梵天变化出两千个自己的化身,然后对那位梵天这样说:“尊敬的,你看见我这样神通威力了吗?” “尊敬的,我看见你这样神通威力了。” “尊敬的,无论你还是我,那位世尊的神通都更大、威力也都更强。尊敬的,你应该去侍奉那位世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者才对啊。” 于是,那位梵天用偈颂对善梵独处梵天说:
Atha kho subrahmā paccekabrahmā dvisahassakkhattuṃ attānaṃ abhinimminitvā taṃ brahmānaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘passasi me no tvaṃ, mārisa, evarūpaṃ iddhānubhāva’’nti? ‘‘Passāmi kho tyāhaṃ, mārisa, evarūpaṃ iddhānubhāva’’nti. ‘‘Tayā ca kho, mārisa, mayā ca sveva bhagavā mahiddhikataro ceva mahānubhāvataro ca. Gaccheyyāsi tvaṃ, mārisa, tassa bhagavato upaṭṭhānaṃ arahato sammāsambuddhassā’’ti? Atha kho so brahmā subrahmānaṃ paccekabrahmānaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
139“三只金翅鸟,四只天鹅,
‘‘Tayo supaṇṇā caturo ca haṃsā,
140母虎、五百位禅修者,”
Byagghīnisā pañcasatā ca jhāyino;
141梵天啊,你的这座宫殿确实在燃烧光芒,
Tayidaṃ vimānaṃ jalate ca brahme,
142照亮着北方的方向。
Obhāsayaṃ uttarassaṃ disāya’’nti.
143虽说你的这座宫殿在燃烧光芒,
‘‘Kiñcāpi te taṃ jalate vimānaṃ,

145但智者见色中存有躁动,总是令人不安,

147那时,善梵天独处梵天和净居梵天独处梵天使那位梵天警醒后,便就地消失了。后来,那位梵天来到世尊——阿拉汉、正等正觉者——跟前拜访。

178在舍卫城。那时,世尊正于日中静处独坐。于是,善梵天独处梵天和净居梵天独处梵天来到世尊那里。走近后,各自靠着门柱站着。这时,善梵天独处梵天以拘迦利迦比丘为缘起,在世尊面前说了这首偈颂:

180舍卫城因缘。那时,葛格离格比丘生了病,痛苦不堪,病得很重。那时,独一梵天都路在深夜时分,容貌殊胜,照亮了整个祇园,朝葛格离格比丘走去。到了以后,站在空中对葛格离格比丘说:“葛格离格,对舍利弗和目犍连生起净信心吧。舍利弗和目犍连是善良的。” “你是谁,朋友?” “我是都路独一梵天。” “朋友,世尊不是记说你是位不还者吗?那你为何还会来到这里?你看,你在这里犯了多大的过失啊。”
Sāvatthinidānaṃ. Tena kho pana samayena kokāliko bhikkhu ābādhiko hoti dukkhito bāḷhagilāno. Atha kho turū paccekabrahmā abhikkantāya rattiyā abhikkantavaṇṇo kevalakappaṃ jetavanaṃ obhāsetvā yena kokāliko bhikkhu tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā vehāsaṃ ṭhito kokālikaṃ bhikkhuṃ etadavoca – ‘‘pasādehi, kokālika, sāriputtamoggallānesu cittaṃ. Pesalā sāriputtamoggallānā’’ti. ‘‘Kosi tvaṃ, āvuso’’ti? ‘‘Ahaṃ turū paccekabrahmā’’ti. ‘‘Nanu tvaṃ, āvuso, bhagavatā anāgāmī byākato, atha kiñcarahi idhāgato? Passa, yāvañca te idaṃ aparaddha’’nti.
158因为人生来,口中就带着一把斧子,
‘‘Purisassa hi jātassa, kuṭhārī jāyate mukhe;
159愚人说出恶语时,就是用这斧子砍伤自己。
Yāya chindati attānaṃ, bālo dubbhāsitaṃ bhaṇaṃ.
160有人称赞该受责备的,
‘‘Yo nindiyaṃ pasaṃsati,
161或是责备那该受称赞的;
Taṃ vā nindati yo pasaṃsiyo;
162他用嘴巴累积了不幸,
Vicināti mukhena so kaliṃ,
163由于那个过失,他找不到快乐。
Kalinā tena sukhaṃ na vindati.
164这个过失微不足道,
‘‘Appamattako ayaṃ kali,
165那是在赌博中输掉财富;
Yo akkhesu dhanaparājayo;
166哪怕失去全部所有连同自己,
Sabbassāpi sahāpi attanā,
167这才是真正更大的厄运。
Ayameva mahantataro kali;
168若有人对善逝们生起嗔怒心。
Yo sugatesu manaṃ padosaye.
169百千尼罗浮陀,三十六及五阿浮陀;
‘‘Sataṃ sahassānaṃ nirabbudānaṃ,
170再加三十六和五阿浮陀;
Chattiṃsati pañca ca abbudāni;
171诽谤圣者的人,会堕入地狱,
Yamariyagarahī nirayaṃ upeti,
172因他故说恶语、心存恶念。

181舍卫城因缘。那时,侨迦利格比丘来到世尊那里;到了之后,向世尊敬礼,然后在一边坐下。坐在一边的侨迦利格比丘对世尊这样说:'尊者,舍利弗和目犍连是恶欲之人,他们已经被邪恶的欲望控制了。'这话说出后,世尊对侨迦利格比丘这样说:'侨迦利格,别这样说;侨迦利格,别这样说。侨迦利格,要对舍利弗和目犍连生起净信心。舍利弗和目犍连是可爱可敬的。'又有第二次,侨迦利格比丘对世尊这样说:'尊者,虽然世尊是我所信赖和依靠的,但尊者,舍利弗和目犍连确实是恶欲之人,已经被邪恶的欲望控制了。'又有第二次,世尊对侨迦利格比丘这样说:'侨迦利格,别这样说;侨迦利格,别这样说。侨迦利格,要对舍利弗和目犍连生起净信心。舍利弗和目犍连是可爱可敬的。'又有第三次,侨迦利格比丘对世尊这样说:'虽然……已经被欲望控制了。'又有第三次,世尊对侨迦利格比丘这样说:'别这样说……舍利弗和目犍连是可爱可敬的。'

175当时,果咖离咖比丘从座位上起身,向世尊行礼、右绕之后离开了。在果咖离咖比丘离开后不久,他全身上下长满了芥子大小的疮。这些疮从芥子大小变成绿豆大小,从绿豆大小变成鹰嘴豆大小,从鹰嘴豆大小变成枣核大小,从枣核大小变成枣子大小,从枣子大小变成余甘子大小,从余甘子大小变成未熟的木苹果大小,从未熟的木苹果大小变成木苹果大小,然后破裂开,流出脓和血。接着,果咖离咖比丘因为这场病而死去了。果咖离咖比丘死后,因为对沙利子和大目犍连两人起了嗔恨心,投生到了莲花地狱。
Atha kho kokāliko bhikkhu uṭṭhāyāsanā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā pakkāmi. Acirapakkantassa ca kokālikassa bhikkhuno sāsapamattīhi pīḷakāhi sabbo kāyo phuṭo ahosi. Sāsapamattiyo hutvā muggamattiyo ahesuṃ, muggamattiyo hutvā kalāyamattiyo ahesuṃ, kalāyamattiyo hutvā kolaṭṭhimattiyo ahesuṃ, kolaṭṭhimattiyo hutvā kolamattiyo ahesuṃ, kolamattiyo hutvā āmalakamattiyo ahesuṃ, āmalakamattiyo hutvā beluvasalāṭukamattiyo ahesuṃ, beluvasalāṭukamattiyo hutvā billamattiyo ahesuṃ, billamattiyo hutvā pabhijjiṃsu. Pubbañca lohitañca pagghariṃsu. Atha kho kokāliko bhikkhu teneva ābādhena kālamakāsi . Kālaṅkato ca kokāliko bhikkhu padumaṃ nirayaṃ upapajji sāriputtamoggallānesu cittaṃ āghātetvā.
176那时,在后半夜夜色将尽时,娑婆主梵天以他那绝妙的容色照亮了整个祇树给孤独园,然后来到世尊所在之处。他来到后,向世尊行礼,站在一旁。站在一旁的娑婆主梵天对世尊这样说:“尊者,果咖离咖比丘死了。尊者,果咖离咖比丘死后,因为对沙利子和大目犍连两人起了嗔恨心,投生到了莲花地狱。”娑婆主梵天说了这话,说完后向世尊行礼、右绕,就地消失了。

Atha kho bhagavā tassā rattiyā accayena bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘imaṃ, bhikkhave, rattiṃ brahmā sahampati abhikkantāya rattiyā abhikkantavaṇṇo kevalakappaṃ jetavanaṃ obhāsetvā yenāhaṃ tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā maṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṃ ṭhito kho, bhikkhave, brahmā sahampati maṃ etadavoca – ‘kokāliko, bhante, bhikkhu kālaṅkato. Kālaṅkato ca, bhante, kokāliko bhikkhu padumaṃ nirayaṃ upapanno sāriputtamoggallānesu cittaṃ āghātetvā’ti. Idamavoca, bhikkhave , brahmā sahampati, idaṃ vatvā maṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā tatthevantaradhāyī’’ti.
178听到这话后,某位比丘对世尊这样说:“尊者,在莲花地狱里的寿命有多长呢?”世尊回答:“比丘,莲花地狱里的寿命很长。那不容易计算,无法说有多少年、多少百年、多少千年、多少十万年。”比丘又问:“尊者,那可以做个譬喻吗?”世尊说:“比丘,可以的。”
Evaṃ vutte, aññataro bhikkhu bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘kīvadīghaṃ nu kho, bhante, padume niraye āyuppamāṇa’’nti? ‘‘Dīghaṃ kho, bhikkhu, padume niraye āyuppamāṇaṃ. Taṃ na sukaraṃ saṅkhātuṃ – ettakāni vassāni iti vā, ettakāni vassasatāni iti vā, ettakāni vassasahassāni iti vā, ettakāni vassasatasahassāni iti vā’’ti. ‘‘Sakkā pana, bhante, upamaṃ kātu’’nti? ‘‘Sakkā , bhikkhū’’ti bhagavā avoca –
179“比丘,好比一个容量为二十伽梨、装满芝麻的拘萨罗国运芝麻车。有一个人每一百年过后就从中取出一粒芝麻。比丘,用这种方法,那辆装了二十伽梨芝麻的拘萨罗国运芝麻车,会更快地被取完、用尽,但一个阿部多地獄的刑期还没完。比丘,二十个阿部多地獄,等于一个尼罗部多地獄。比丘,二十个尼罗部多地獄,等于一个阿波波地狱。比丘,二十个阿波波地狱,等于一个阿吒吒地狱。比丘,二十个阿吒吒地狱,等于一个阿呵呵地狱。比丘,二十个阿呵呵地狱,等于一个古木多地狱。比丘,二十个古木多地狱,等于一个索犍提迦地狱。比丘,二十个索犍提迦地狱,等于一个优钵罗地狱。比丘,二十个优钵罗地狱,等于一个分陀利迦地狱。比丘,二十个分陀利迦地狱,等于一个莲花地狱。比丘,果咖离咖比丘正是因为对沙利子和大目犍连两人起了嗔恨心,投生到了莲花地狱。”世尊说了这话,善逝这样说了之后,大师又说了以下的话:
‘‘Seyyathāpi, bhikkhu vīsatikhāriko kosalako tilavāho. Tato puriso vassasatassa vassasatassa accayena ekamekaṃ tilaṃ uddhareyya; khippataraṃ kho so, bhikkhu, vīsatikhāriko kosalako tilavāho iminā upakkamena parikkhayaṃ pariyādānaṃ gaccheyya, na tveva eko abbudo nirayo. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhu, vīsati abbudā nirayā, evameko nirabbudanirayo. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhu, vīsati nirabbudā nirayā, evameko ababo nirayo. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhu, vīsati ababā nirayā, evameko aṭaṭo nirayo. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhu, vīsati aṭaṭā nirayā, evameko ahaho nirayo. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhu, vīsati ahahā nirayā, evameko kumudo nirayo. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhu, vīsati kumudā nirayā, evameko sogandhiko nirayo. 192对善逝们心生恶意。

194凡被圣者呵责者,将身语意用于造恶,便堕入地狱。

Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā rājagahe viharati sappinītīre. Atha kho brahmā sanaṅkumāro abhikkantāya rattiyā abhikkantavaṇṇo kevalakappaṃ sappinītīraṃ obhāsetvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṃ ṭhito kho brahmā sanaṅkumāro bhagavato santike imaṃ gāthaṃ abhāsi –
207“在众生当中,那些以出身论高低的人,刹帝利是最高的;
‘‘Khattiyo seṭṭho janetasmiṃ, ye gottapaṭisārino;
208他明与行具足,在人天之中,他最为殊胜。
Vijjācaraṇasampanno, so seṭṭho devamānuse’’ti.
209这话是娑婆主梵天说的。老师表示认可。于是,娑婆主梵天心想“老师认可我了”,便向世尊行礼、右绕之后,就在那里消失了。
Idamavoca brahmā sanaṅkumāro. Samanuñño satthā ahosi. Atha kho brahmā sanaṅkumāro ‘‘samanuñño me satthā’’ti bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā tatthevantaradhāyīti.

183如是我闻:有一次,世尊住在王舍城的灵鹫山上,那时提婆达多刚离开不久。当时,夜色已深,娑婆主梵天以殊胜的容色照亮了整个灵鹫山,来到世尊那里。走近之后,他向世尊行礼,站在一旁。站在一旁的娑婆主梵天,就提婆达多这件事,在世尊面前说了这首偈颂:
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā rājagahe viharati gijjhakūṭe pabbate acirapakkante devadatte. Atha kho brahmā sahampati abhikkantāya rattiyā abhikkantavaṇṇo kevalakappaṃ gijjhakūṭaṃ pabbataṃ obhāsetvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṃ ṭhito kho brahmā sahampati devadattaṃ ārabbha bhagavato santike imaṃ gāthaṃ abhāsi –
212果实确实会毁掉芭蕉,果实毁掉竹子,果实也毁掉芦苇;
‘‘Phalaṃ ve kadaliṃ hanti, phalaṃ veḷuṃ phalaṃ naḷaṃ;
213利养恭敬会毁掉那卑劣之人,就像怀胎会毁掉母骡一样。
Sakkāro kāpurisaṃ hanti, gabbho assatariṃ yathā’’ti.

184有一次,世尊住在摩揭陀国的安陀迦频德。那时,世尊在夜间的黑暗中,露天坐着,天下着毛毛细雨。当时,夜色已深,娑婆主梵天以殊胜的容色照亮了整个安陀迦频德,来到世尊那里。走近之后,他向世尊行礼,站在一旁。站在一旁的娑婆主梵天,在世尊面前说了这些偈颂:
Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā māgadhesu viharati andhakavinde. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā rattandhakāratimisāyaṃ abbhokāse nisinno hoti, devo ca ekamekaṃ phusāyati. Atha kho brahmā sahampati abhikkantāya rattiyā abhikkantavaṇṇo kevalakappaṃ andhakavindaṃ obhāsetvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṃ ṭhito kho brahmā sahampati bhagavato santike imā gāthāyo abhāsi –
216应该乐于住在那些偏远僻静的住所,
‘‘Sevetha pantāni senāsanāni,
217修行是为了从各种束缚中彻底解脱;
Careyya saṃyojanavippamokkhā;
218如果在那种寂静处内心还找不到喜悦,
Sace ratiṃ nādhigaccheyya tattha,
219那就安住在僧团中,好好守护自己,保持正念。
Saṅghe vase rakkhitatto satīmā.
220然后一家一家不拣择地去托钵乞食,
‘‘Kulākulaṃ piṇḍikāya caranto,
221守护好六根,明智而警觉,正念不断绝。
Indriyagutto nipako satīmā;
222他应选择偏僻的住处,
Sevetha pantāni senāsanāni,
223从恐惧中解脱,在无恐怖中得自在。
Bhayā pamutto abhaye vimutto.
224那里有可怕的爬行动物,
‘‘Yattha bheravā sarīsapā ,
225闪电穿梭,雷声轰鸣;

Andhakāratimisāya rattiyā,
227比丘坐在那里,毛发不竖,全无恐惧。
Nisīdi tattha bhikkhu vigatalomahaṃso.
228‘这事我确实亲眼所见,不是传闻,
‘‘Idañhi jātu me diṭṭhaṃ, nayidaṃ itihītihaṃ;
229在那唯一的梵行生活中,有上千位战胜死亡者。’
Ekasmiṃ brahmacariyasmiṃ, sahassaṃ maccuhāyinaṃ.
230‘还有比这更多的——五百位有学,十倍、十倍又十倍的数目,
‘‘Bhiyyo pañcasatā sekkhā, dasā ca dasadhā dasa;
231他们全都证得了入流果,不会再堕入畜生道。’
Sabbe sotasamāpannā, atiracchānagāmino.
232‘至于其余的众生,在我心中是功德的有份者,
‘‘Athāyaṃ itarā pajā, puññabhāgāti me mano;
233但我实在无法算计他们的数量,因为我害怕妄语之过。’
Saṅkhātuṃ nopi sakkomi, musāvādassa ottapa’’nti .

4. Aruṇavatīsuttaṃ
185如是我闻:有一回,世尊住在舍卫城的祇树给孤独园。那时,婆迦梵天生起了这样一种邪恶的见解:“这是恒常的,这是坚固的,这是永久的,这是完全的,这是不会消逝之法;因为这既不生,不老,不死,不消逝,不转生。而且,除此之外,没有其他的、更高的出离了。”
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Tena kho pana samayena bakassa brahmuno evarūpaṃ pāpakaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ uppannaṃ hoti – ‘‘idaṃ niccaṃ, idaṃ dhuvaṃ, idaṃ sassataṃ, idaṃ kevalaṃ, idaṃ acavanadhammaṃ, idañhi na jāyati na jīyati na mīyati na cavati na upapajjati, ito ca panaññaṃ uttariṃ nissaraṇaṃ natthī’’ti.
236"比丘们,过去久远的时候,有一位国王名叫阿噜那。比丘们,阿噜那王的都城名叫阿噜那瓦帝。比丘们,尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者就依止阿噜那瓦帝都城而住。比丘们,尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者有两位上首弟子,名叫阿毗浮和参巴瓦,是最优秀的一对贤善弟子。那时,比丘们,尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者对阿毗浮比丘说:'婆罗门,来吧,我们到某个梵天界去,直到吃饭的时间。'比丘们,阿毗浮比丘回答尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者:'好的,尊者。'比丘们,那时,尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者和阿毗浮比丘——就像一个强壮的人把弯曲的手臂伸直,或者把伸直的手臂弯曲那样快——从阿噜那瓦帝都城中消失,出现在那个梵天界中。
‘‘Bhūtapubbaṃ, bhikkhave, rājā ahosi aruṇavā nāma. Rañño kho pana, bhikkhave, aruṇavato aruṇavatī nāma rājadhānī ahosi. Aruṇavatiṃ kho pana, bhikkhave, rājadhāniṃ sikhī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho upanissāya vihāsi. Sikhissa kho pana, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa abhibhūsambhavaṃ nāma sāvakayugaṃ ahosi aggaṃ bhaddayugaṃ. Atha kho, bhikkhave, sikhī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho abhibhuṃ bhikkhuṃ āmantesi – ‘āyāma, brāhmaṇa, yena aññataro brahmaloko tenupasaṅkamissāma, yāva bhattassa kālo bhavissatī’ti. ‘Evaṃ, bhante’ti kho bhikkhave, abhibhū bhikkhu sikhissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa paccassosi. Atha kho, bhikkhave, sikhī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho abhibhū ca bhikkhu – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya, pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya evameva – aruṇavatiyā rājadhāniyā antarahitā tasmiṃ brahmaloke pāturahesuṃ.
237"然后,比丘们,尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者对阿毗浮比丘说:'婆罗门,请你为梵天、梵天众和梵天随从们作一次法谈吧。'比丘们,阿毗浮比丘回答尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者:'好的,尊者。'然后,他用一场法谈开示、劝导、激励、令梵天、梵天众和梵天随从们欢喜。比丘们,就在那时,梵天、梵天众和梵天随从们不以为然,非议,批评说:'实在稀有啊,诸位!实在奇特啊,诸位!老师就在面前,弟子怎么竟然会说法呢!'
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, sikhī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho abhibhuṃ bhikkhuṃ āmantesi – ‘paṭibhātu, brāhmaṇa, taṃ brahmuno ca brahmaparisāya ca brahmapārisajjānañca dhammī kathā’ti. ‘Evaṃ, bhante’ti kho, bhikkhave, abhibhū bhikkhu sikhissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa paṭissutvā, brahmānañca brahmaparisañca brahmapārisajje ca dhammiyā kathāya sandassesi samādapesi samuttejesi sampahaṃsesi. Tatra sudaṃ, bhikkhave, brahmā ca brahmaparisā ca brahmapārisajjā ca ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘acchariyaṃ vata , bho, abbhutaṃ vata bho, kathañhi nāma satthari sammukhībhūte sāvako dhammaṃ desessatī’’’ti !
238"于是,比丘们,尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者对阿毗浮比丘说:'婆罗门,梵天、梵天众和梵天随从们正在不以为然,非议:'实在稀有啊,诸位!实在奇特啊,诸位!老师就在面前,弟子怎么竟然会说法呢!'那么,婆罗门,你应当更加深刻地激发梵天、梵天众和梵天随从们的震动。'比丘们,阿毗浮比丘回答尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者:'好的,尊者。'接着,他以可见的身体说法,也以不可见的身体说法;也以可见的下半身和不可见的上半身说法;也以可见的上半身和不可见的下半身说法。比丘们,就在那时,梵天、梵天众和梵天随从们心中生起了稀有奇特之想:'实在稀有啊,诸位!实在奇特啊,诸位!这位沙门的大神通、大威力!'
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, sikhī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho abhibhuṃ bhikkhuṃ āmantesi – ‘ujjhāyanti kho te, brāhmaṇa, brahmā ca brahmaparisā ca brahmapārisajjā ca – acchariyaṃ vata, bho, abbhutaṃ vata, bho, kathañhi nāma satthari sammukhībhūte sāvako dhammaṃ desessatīti! Tena hi tvaṃ brāhmaṇa, bhiyyosomattāya brahmānañca brahmaparisañca brahmapārisajje ca saṃvejehī’ti. ‘Evaṃ, bhante’ti kho, bhikkhave, abhibhū bhikkhu sikhissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa paṭissutvā dissamānenapi kāyena dhammaṃ desesi, adissamānenapi kāyena dhammaṃ desesi, dissamānenapi heṭṭhimena upaḍḍhakāyena adissamānena uparimena upaḍḍhakāyena dhammaṃ desesi, dissamānenapi uparimena upaḍḍhakāyena adissamānena heṭṭhimena upaḍḍhakāyena dhammaṃ desesi. Tatra sudaṃ, bhikkhave, brahmā ca brahmaparisā ca brahmapārisajjā ca acchariyabbhutacittajātā ahesuṃ – ‘acchariyaṃ vata, bho, abbhutaṃ vata, bho, samaṇassa mahiddhikatā mahānubhāvatā’’’ti!
239"这时,阿毗浮比丘对尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者这样说:'尊者,我记得,我曾在比丘僧团中间说过这样的话——贤友,我能够站在梵天界,用声音让一千个世界界域知晓。''婆罗门,时候到了,婆罗门,时候到了。婆罗门,现在你就站在梵天界,用声音让一千个世界界域知晓吧。'比丘们,阿毗浮比丘回答尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者:'好的,尊者。'然后,他站在梵天界,说了这些偈颂——
‘‘Atha kho abhibhū bhikkhu sikhiṃ bhagavantaṃ arahantaṃ sammāsambuddhaṃ etadavoca – ‘abhijānāmi khvāhaṃ, bhante, bhikkhusaṅghassa majjhe evarūpiṃ vācaṃ bhāsitā – pahomi khvāhaṃ āvuso, brahmaloke ṭhito sahassilokadhātuṃ sarena viññāpetu’nti. ‘Etassa, brāhmaṇa, kālo, etassa, brāhmaṇa, kālo; yaṃ tvaṃ, brāhmaṇa, brahmaloke ṭhito sahassilokadhātuṃ sarena viññāpeyyāsī’ti. ‘Evaṃ, bhante’ti kho, bhikkhave, abhibhū bhikkhu sikhissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa paṭissutvā brahmaloke ṭhito imā gāthāyo abhāsi –
240"你们要发奋,要精进,要致力于佛陀的教法;
‘‘Ārambhatha nikkamatha , yuñjatha buddhasāsane;
241摧毁死魔的军队,如同大象摧毁竹舍。
Dhunātha maccuno senaṃ, naḷāgāraṃva kuñjaro.
242“在这法与律之中,能不放逸而住者,
‘‘Yo imasmiṃ dhammavinaye, appamatto vihassati;
243舍离生死流转后,将抵达苦的尽头。”
Pahāya jātisaṃsāraṃ, dukkhassantaṃ karissatī’’ti.
244“那时,比丘们,尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者与胜力比丘,令梵天、梵众和梵天眷属心生警惕后,就好比……在那个梵天界隐没,出现在阿鲁那瓦帝王都。那时,比丘们,尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者召唤比丘们说:‘比丘们,你们听到胜力比丘站在梵天界中所说的偈颂了吗?’‘尊者,我们听到胜力比丘站在梵天界中所说的偈颂了。’‘比丘们,你们是怎样听到胜力比丘站在梵天界中所说的偈颂的?’‘尊者,我们是这样听到胜力比丘站在梵天界中所说的偈颂的——’”
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, sikhī ca bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho abhibhū ca bhikkhu brahmānañca brahmaparisañca brahmapārisajje ca saṃvejetvā – seyyathāpi nāma…pe… tasmiṃ brahmaloke antarahitā aruṇavatiyā rājadhāniyā pāturahesuṃ. Atha kho, bhikkhave, sikhī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘assuttha no, tumhe, bhikkhave, abhibhussa bhikkhuno brahmaloke ṭhitassa gāthāyo bhāsamānassā’ti? ‘Assumha kho mayaṃ, bhante, abhibhussa bhikkhuno brahmaloke ṭhitassa gāthāyo bhāsamānassā’ti. ‘Yathā kathaṃ pana tumhe, bhikkhave, assuttha abhibhussa bhikkhuno brahmaloke ṭhitassa gāthāyo bhāsamānassā’’’ti? Evaṃ kho mayaṃ, bhante, assumha abhibhussa bhikkhuno brahmaloke ṭhitassa gāthāyo bhāsamānassa –
245“开始吧,前进吧,投身于佛陀的教法;
‘‘Ārambhatha nikkamatha, yuñjatha buddhasāsane;
246摧毁死魔的军队,如同大象摧毁竹舍。”
Dhunātha maccuno senaṃ, naḷāgāraṃva kuñjaro.
247在这法与律中,不放逸地安住的人;
‘‘Yo imasmiṃ dhammavinaye, appamatto vihassati;
248舍弃了生死的流转,将作苦的终结。
Pahāya jātisaṃsāraṃ, dukkhassantaṃ karissatī’’ti.
249“是的,大德,我们就是这样听到阿毗浮比丘站在梵天界中宣说这些偈颂的。”“很好,很好,比丘们!比丘们,你们听到了阿毗浮比丘站在梵天界中宣说的那些偈颂,这很好。”
‘‘‘Evaṃ kho mayaṃ, bhante, assumha abhibhussa bhikkhuno brahmaloke ṭhitassa gāthāyo bhāsamānassā’ti. ‘Sādhu sādhu, bhikkhave; sādhu kho tumhe, bhikkhave! Assuttha abhibhussa bhikkhuno brahmaloke ṭhitassa gāthāyo bhāsamānassā’’’ti.
250这是世尊所说。那些比丘们心满意足,对世尊的话欢喜赞叹。
Idamavoca bhagavā, attamanā te bhikkhū bhagavato bhāsitaṃ abhinandunti.
2515. 般涅槃经
5. Parinibbānasuttaṃ
186有一次,世尊住在古西那拉城,在末罗人的娑罗树林里,两棵并生的娑罗树之间,正值般涅槃的时刻。那时,世尊对比丘们说:“好了,比丘们,我现在告诉你们:‘诸行皆是坏灭之法,你们要以不放逸来成就解脱吧。’这就是如来的最后遗教。”
Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā kusinārāyaṃ viharati upavattane mallānaṃ sālavane antarena yamakasālānaṃ parinibbānasamaye. Atha kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘handa dāni, bhikkhave , āmantayāmi vo – ‘vayadhammā saṅkhārā, appamādena sampādethā’ti. Ayaṃ tathāgatassa pacchimā vācā’’.
253那时,世尊进入了初禅。从初禅出起后,进入了第二禅。从第二禅出起后,进入了第三禅。从第三禅出起后,进入了第四禅。从第四禅出起后,进入了空无边处。从空无边处出起后,进入了识无边处。从识无边处出起后,进入了无所有处。从无所有处出起后,进入了非想非非想处。从非想非非想处出起后,进入了想受灭定。
Atha kho bhagavā paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ samāpajji. Paṭhamā jhānā vuṭṭhahitvā dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ samāpajji. Dutiyā jhānā vuṭṭhahitvā tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ samāpajji. Tatiyā jhānā vuṭṭhahitvā catutthaṃ jhānaṃ samāpajji. Catutthā jhānā vuṭṭhahitvā ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samāpajji. Ākāsānañcāyatanā vuṭṭhahitvā viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ samāpajji. Viññāṇañcāyatanā vuṭṭhahitvā ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ samāpajji. Ākiñcaññāyatanā vuṭṭhahitvā nevasaññānāsaññāyatanaṃ samāpajji. Nevasaññānāsaññāyatanā vuṭṭhahitvā saññāvedayitanirodhaṃ samāpajji.
254从想受灭定出来之后,他进入了非想非非想处定。从非想非非想处定出来之后,他进入了无所有处定。从无所有处定出来之后,他进入了识无边处定。从识无边处定出来之后,他进入了空无边处定。从空无边处定出来之后,他进入了第四禅。从第四禅出来之后,他进入了第三禅。从第三禅出来之后,他进入了第二禅。从第二禅出来之后,他进入了初禅。从初禅出来之后,他进入了第二禅。从第二禅出来之后,他进入了第三禅。从第三禅出来之后,他进入了第四禅。从第四禅出来之后,紧接着,世尊就般涅槃了。世尊般涅槃的时候,娑婆主梵天在那一刻说了这首偈颂:
Saññāvedayitanirodhā vuṭṭhahitvā nevasaññānāsaññāyatanaṃ samāpajji. Nevasaññānāsaññāyatanā vuṭṭhahitvā ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ samāpajji. Ākiñcaññāyatanā vuṭṭhahitvā viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ samāpajji. Viññāṇañcāyatanā vuṭṭhahitvā ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samāpajji. Ākāsānañcāyatanā vuṭṭhahitvā catutthaṃ jhānaṃ samāpajji. Catutthā jhānā vuṭṭhahitvā tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ samāpajji. Tatiyā jhānā vuṭṭhahitvā dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ samāpajji. Dutiyā jhānā vuṭṭhahitvā paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ samāpajji. Paṭhamā jhānā vuṭṭhahitvā dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ samāpajji. Dutiyā jhānā vuṭṭhahitvā tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ samāpajji. Tatiyā jhānā vuṭṭhahitvā catutthaṃ jhānaṃ samāpajji. Catutthā jhānā vuṭṭhahitvā samanantaraṃ bhagavā parinibbāyi. Parinibbute bhagavati saha parinibbānā brahmā sahampati imaṃ gāthaṃ abhāsi –
255世间一切的有情众生,终将舍弃这积聚之身;
‘‘Sabbeva nikkhipissanti, bhūtā loke samussayaṃ;
256在这世间,像这样的导师无人能及,
Yattha etādiso satthā, loke appaṭipuggalo;
257那位如来,已经成就了力量,作为正自觉者,彻底涅槃了。
Tathāgato balappatto, sambuddho parinibbuto’’ti.
258世尊般涅槃的时候,诸天之主帝释天在那一刻说了这首偈颂:
Parinibbute bhagavati saha parinibbānā sakko devānamindo imaṃ gāthaṃ abhāsi –
259诸行确实是无常的啊,它们的本质就是生起又灭去;
‘‘Aniccā vata saṅkhārā, uppādavayadhammino;
260生起之后又灭去,它们的止息是快乐的。
Uppajjitvā nirujjhanti, tesaṃ vūpasamo sukho’’ti.
261当世尊般涅槃时,尊者阿难在那个时刻说出了这个偈颂:
Parinibbute bhagavati saha parinibbānā āyasmā ānando imaṃ gāthaṃ abhāsi –
262那时真是恐怖,那时真让人毛发竖立;
‘‘Tadāsi yaṃ bhiṃsanakaṃ, tadāsi lomahaṃsanaṃ;
263就在那一切相好庄严的正觉者般涅槃的时候。
Sabbākāravarūpete, sambuddhe parinibbute’’ti.
264当世尊般涅槃时,尊者阿那律在那个时刻说出了这些偈颂:
Parinibbute bhagavati saha parinibbānā āyasmā anuruddho imā gāthāyo abhāsi –
265心已安住的如来,已没有了出息和入息;
‘‘Nāhu assāsapassāso, ṭhitacittassa tādino;
266不动摇者,以寂静为归宿,具眼者已般涅槃。
Anejo santimārabbha, cakkhumā parinibbuto .
267‘以不退缩的心,他忍受了身体的苦受;
‘‘Asallīnena cittena, vedanaṃ ajjhavāsayi;
268如同灯火熄灭,心得到了解脱。’
Pajjotasseva nibbānaṃ, vimokkho cetaso ahū’’ti.
