1. Āḷavikāsuttaṃ
162如是我闻:有一次,世尊住在舍卫城的祇树给孤独园。那时,阿拉维咖比丘尼在上午穿好衣服,拿着衣钵进入舍卫城乞食。在舍卫城乞食完后,用餐归来,为了独处,她前往盲林。这时,魔罗波旬想使阿拉维咖比丘尼产生恐惧、惊慌、毛骨悚然,想让她离开独处,于是去到阿拉维咖比丘尼那里。到了之后,用偈颂对阿拉维咖比丘尼说:
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Atha kho āḷavikā bhikkhunī pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya sāvatthiṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Sāvatthiyaṃ piṇḍāya caritvā pacchābhattaṃ piṇḍapātapaṭikkantā yena andhavanaṃ tenupasaṅkami vivekatthinī. Atha kho māro pāpimā āḷavikāya bhikkhuniyā bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo vivekamhā cāvetukāmo yena āḷavikā bhikkhunī tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āḷavikaṃ bhikkhuniṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
4“世间没有出离,你独自静修做什么?”
‘‘Natthi nissaraṇaṃ loke, kiṃ vivekena kāhasi;
5“享受欲乐吧,不要事后后悔。”
Bhuñjassu kāmaratiyo, māhu pacchānutāpinī’’ti.
6这时,阿拉维咖比丘尼心想:“这个对我说偈颂的,是人还是非人呢?”然后阿拉维咖比丘尼心想:“这是魔罗波旬,他想让我产生恐惧、惊慌、毛骨悚然,想让我离开独处,所以对我说偈颂。”于是阿拉维咖比丘尼认出了“这是魔罗波旬”,便用偈颂回应魔罗波旬:
Atha kho āḷavikāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘ko nu khvāyaṃ manusso vā amanusso vā gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti? Atha kho āḷavikāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘māro kho ayaṃ pāpimā mama bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo vivekamhā cāvetukāmo gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti. Atha kho āḷavikā bhikkhunī ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāhi paccabhāsi –
7“世间有出离,我以智慧善通达;”
‘‘Atthi nissaraṇaṃ loke, paññāya me suphussitaṃ ;
8“放逸之徒波旬,你不知道那个境界。”
Pamattabandhu pāpima, na tvaṃ jānāsi taṃ padaṃ.
9“诸欲如同矛与戟,诸蕴是那砧板;
‘‘Sattisūlūpamā kāmā, khandhāsaṃ adhikuṭṭanā;
10你所谓的欲乐,对我而言已是不喜。”
Yaṃ tvaṃ kāmaratiṃ brūsi, arati mayha sā ahū’’ti.
11那时,魔罗波旬心想:“阿拉维咖比丘尼认出了我。”便痛苦沮丧,当场隐没不见了。
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ āḷavikā bhikkhunī’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
122. 索玛经
2. Somāsuttaṃ
163舍卫城因缘。那时,索玛比丘尼在午前时分,穿好下衣,持钵与衣,进入舍卫城乞食。在舍卫城次第乞食后,用完斋饭,从乞食处返回,为了日间静修,前往盲林。深入盲林后,在一棵树下坐下度过日间。那时,魔罗波旬想要让索玛比丘尼生起怖畏、恐惧、汗毛直竖,想让她退失禅定,便来到索玛比丘尼所在处。到达后,以偈颂对索玛比丘尼说:
Sāvatthinidānaṃ . Atha kho somā bhikkhunī pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya sāvatthiṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Sāvatthiyaṃ piṇḍāya caritvā pacchābhattaṃ piṇḍapātapaṭikkantā yena andhavanaṃ tenupasaṅkami divāvihārāya. Andhavanaṃ ajjhogāhetvā aññatarasmiṃ rukkhamūle divāvihāraṃ nisīdi. Atha kho māro pāpimā somāya bhikkhuniyā bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo samādhimhā cāvetukāmo yena somā bhikkhunī tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā somaṃ bhikkhuniṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
14“那为诸仙所期望、难以达到的境界,
‘‘Yaṃ taṃ isīhi pattabbaṃ, ṭhānaṃ durabhisambhavaṃ;
15这种境界,凭二指慧的女人,是不可能证得的。”
Na taṃ dvaṅgulapaññāya, sakkā pappotumitthiyā’’ti.
16这时,索玛比丘尼心里想:“这到底是谁——是人还是非人,在诵偈颂?”接着,索玛比丘尼心里明白了:“这是魔罗波旬,他想让我生起恐惧、慌乱、毛骨悚然,想把我从定中拉出来,所以才诵偈颂。”于是,索玛比丘尼知道“这是魔罗波旬”之后,便以偈颂回应魔罗波旬:
Atha kho somāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘ko nu khvāyaṃ manusso vā amanusso vā gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti? Atha kho somāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘māro kho ayaṃ pāpimā mama bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo samādhimhā cāvetukāmo gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti. Atha kho somā bhikkhunī ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāhi paccabhāsi –
17“是女人身,又能怎样?当心已善入定时,
‘‘Itthibhāvo kiṃ kayirā, cittamhi susamāhite;
18当智正在运转,正确地观照法时。
Ñāṇamhi vattamānamhi, sammā dhammaṃ vipassato.
19若有人心里还会浮现:‘我是女人’或‘我是男人’,
‘‘Yassa nūna siyā evaṃ, itthāhaṃ purisoti vā;
20或是任何一种身份想——那才是魔罗可以对他说话的对象。”
Kiñci vā pana aññasmi , taṃ māro vattumarahatī’’ti.
21这时,魔罗波旬心想:“索玛比丘尼认出我了。”便苦闷、懊恼,当场就在那里消失不见。
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ somā bhikkhunī’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
223. 吉萨果德弥经
3. Kisāgotamīsuttaṃ
164这是发生在舍卫城的事。那时,吉萨果德弥比丘尼在午前时分穿好下衣,拿了钵和僧袍,进入舍卫城托钵乞食。她在舍卫城托完食,用完斋饭后,从托钵处返回,就朝着盲林走去,准备在那里度过白天。她进入盲林深处,在一棵树下坐着度过白天。这时,魔罗波旬想要让吉萨果德弥比丘尼生起恐惧、战栗、汗毛直竖,想要让她退失定力,就朝吉萨果德弥比丘尼走去;走近以后,用偈颂对她说:
Sāvatthinidānaṃ. Atha kho kisāgotamī bhikkhunī pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya sāvatthiṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Sāvatthiyaṃ piṇḍāya caritvā pacchābhattaṃ piṇḍapātapaṭikkantā yena andhavanaṃ tenupasaṅkami , divāvihārāya. Andhavanaṃ ajjhogāhetvā aññatarasmiṃ rukkhamūle divāvihāraṃ nisīdi. 24“你怎么像个死了孩子的母亲一样,一个人待着,哭丧着脸?
‘‘Kiṃ nu tvaṃ mataputtāva, ekamāsi rudammukhī;
25独自跑进树林深处,莫非是在找男人?”
Vanamajjhagatā ekā, purisaṃ nu gavesasī’’ti.
26这时,吉萨果德弥比丘尼心想:“这个说偈颂的家伙,到底是人还是非人?”接着她又想:“这是魔罗波旬,他想让我生起恐惧、战栗、汗毛直竖,想让我退失定力,才说了这偈颂。”
Atha kho kisāgotamiyā bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘ko nu khvāyaṃ manusso vā amanusso vā gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti? Atha kho kisāgotamiyā bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘māro kho ayaṃ pāpimā mama bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo samādhimhā cāvetukāmo gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti.
27吉萨果德弥比丘尼认出“这是魔罗波旬”以后,便用偈颂回击他:
Atha kho kisāgotamī bhikkhunī ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāhi paccabhāsi –
28“我早就彻底告别孩子了,男人对我来说也早就结束了。
‘‘Accantaṃ mataputtāmhi, purisā etadantikā;
29我不忧伤,我不哭泣,朋友啊,我也不怕你。
Na socāmi na rodāmi, na taṃ bhāyāmi āvuso.
30一切处的喜乐已被击毁,黑暗之蕴已粉碎;
‘‘Sabbattha vihatā nandī, tamokkhandho padālito;
31击败了死魔的军队,我住于无漏。
Jetvāna maccuno senaṃ, viharāmi anāsavā’’ti.
32那时,魔罗波旬心想:“吉萨果德弥比丘尼认出我了。”他痛苦、沮丧,就在那里消失了。
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ kisāgotamī bhikkhunī’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
334. 维嘉亚经
4. Vijayāsuttaṃ
165故事发生在舍卫城。那时,维嘉亚比丘尼在上午时分,穿好下衣……在一棵树下静坐度日。那时,魔罗波旬想要让维嘉亚比丘尼生起恐惧、战栗、毛骨悚然,想使她退失定境,就朝维嘉亚比丘尼那儿走去。走到后,用偈颂对维嘉亚比丘尼说:
Sāvatthinidānaṃ. Atha kho vijayā bhikkhunī pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā…pe… aññatarasmiṃ rukkhamūle divāvihāraṃ nisīdi. Atha kho māro pāpimā vijayāya bhikkhuniyā bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo samādhimhā cāvetukāmo yena vijayā bhikkhunī tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā vijayaṃ bhikkhuniṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
35你年轻貌美,我也是个年轻小伙子;
‘‘Daharā tvaṃ rūpavatī, ahañca daharo susu;
36‘带上五种乐器组成的乐队,来吧,我们一起尽情享乐。’
Pañcaṅgikena turiyena, ehayyebhiramāmase’’ti .
37这时,维嘉亚比丘尼心里想:‘这个正在说偈颂的,到底是人还是非人?’接着,维嘉亚比丘尼心里又想:‘这是魔罗波旬,他想让我生起恐惧、惊慌、毛骨悚然,想把我说出定境,所以才说这偈颂。’于是,维嘉亚比丘尼知道‘这是魔罗波旬’之后,便用偈颂回应魔罗波旬:
Atha kho vijayāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘ko nu khvāyaṃ manusso vā amanusso vā gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti? Atha kho vijayāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘māro kho ayaṃ pāpimā mama bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo samādhimhā cāvetukāmo gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti. Atha kho vijayā bhikkhunī ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāhi paccabhāsi –
38‘色相、声音、味道、香气,还有让人心旷神怡的触感,
‘‘Rūpā saddā rasā gandhā, phoṭṭhabbā ca manoramā;
39这些我全都还给你,魔罗,我对这些一点兴趣也没有。
Niyyātayāmi tuyheva, māra nāhaṃ tenatthikā.
40对于这具腐烂、败坏、注定崩解的身体,
‘‘Iminā pūtikāyena, bhindanena pabhaṅgunā;
41我感到厌憎,感到羞耻,对这欲的渴爱已经被我连根拔除。’
Aṭṭīyāmi harāyāmi, kāmataṇhā samūhatā.
42那些趋向色界的众生,
‘‘Ye ca rūpūpagā sattā, ye ca arūpaṭṭhāyino ;
43和安住于无色界的众生,
以及那寂静的等至——
在这一切之处,黑暗都已被击溃。
Yā ca santā samāpatti, sabbattha vihato tamo’’ti.
44那时,魔罗波旬心想:“维嘉亚比丘尼已经认出我了”,于是痛苦、沮丧,就在原地消失了。
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ vijayā bhikkhunī’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
455. 伍巴喇瓦纳经
5. Uppalavaṇṇāsuttaṃ
166此事发生在沙瓦提城。那时,伍巴喇瓦纳比丘尼在午前穿好衣服……她站在某一棵开满花的沙罗树下。那时,魔罗波旬想要让伍巴喇瓦纳比丘尼生起恐惧、惊慌、汗毛竖立,想让她退失定力,便朝伍巴喇瓦纳比丘尼那里走去;走到后,用偈颂对伍巴喇瓦纳比丘尼说道:
Sāvatthinidānaṃ. Atha kho uppalavaṇṇā bhikkhunī pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā…pe… aññatarasmiṃ supupphitasālarukkhamūle aṭṭhāsi. Atha kho māro pāpimā uppalavaṇṇāya bhikkhuniyā bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo samādhimhā cāvetukāmo yena uppalavaṇṇā bhikkhunī tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā uppalavaṇṇaṃ bhikkhuniṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
47“比丘尼啊,你独自来到这开满繁花的树梢下,
‘‘Supupphitaggaṃ upagamma bhikkhuni,
48独自站在沙罗树的根部。
Ekā tuvaṃ tiṭṭhasi sālamūle;
49“你没有伴儿,”
Na catthi te dutiyā vaṇṇadhātu,
50“傻女人,你就不怕那些歹徒吗?”
Bāle na tvaṃ bhāyasi dhuttakāna’’nti.
51那时,莲华色比丘尼心想:“这说偈颂的,是人还是非人?”接着,莲华色比丘尼心想:“这是魔罗波旬,他想让我害怕、发抖、毛骨悚然,想把我拉出定境,才说这偈颂。”于是,莲华色比丘尼认出“这是魔罗波旬”后,就以偈颂回应魔罗波旬:
Atha kho uppalavaṇṇāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘ko nu khvāyaṃ manusso vā amanusso vā gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti? Atha kho uppalavaṇṇāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘māro kho ayaṃ pāpimā mama bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo samādhimhā cāvetukāmo gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti. Atha kho uppalavaṇṇā bhikkhunī ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāhi paccabhāsi –
52“哪怕有百千个歹徒,”
‘‘Sataṃ sahassānipi dhuttakānaṃ,
53“像这样的全都来这里,”
Idhāgatā tādisakā bhaveyyuṃ;
54“我毛发都不会动,心里一点也不惊慌,”
Lomaṃ na iñjāmi na santasāmi,
55魔罗,即使我孤身一人,我也不怕你。
Na māra bhāyāmi tamekikāpi.
56“我将消失,或者进入你的腹中;
‘‘Esā antaradhāyāmi, kucchiṃ vā pavisāmi te;
57即便站在你的眉宇之间,你也看不见我。”
Pakhumantarikāyampi, tiṭṭhantiṃ maṃ na dakkhasi.
58“我的心已经自在,神通也已好好修习;
‘‘Cittasmiṃ vasībhūtāmhi, iddhipādā subhāvitā;
59我已解脱所有束缚,朋友,我不怕你。”
Sabbabandhanamuttāmhi, na taṃ bhāyāmi āvuso’’ti.
60那时,魔罗波旬知道“莲华色比丘尼认出我了”,痛苦、沮丧,当场就消失了。
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ uppalavaṇṇā bhikkhunī’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
616. 遮罗经
6. Cālāsuttaṃ
167舍卫城因缘。那时,遮罗比丘尼在午前穿好衣……(中略)……在一棵树下,为白天的安住而坐。此时,魔罗波旬来到遮罗比丘尼那里,到了之后,对遮罗比丘尼这样说:“比丘尼,你为什么不乐于出生呢?”“贤友,我确实不乐于出生。”
Sāvatthinidānaṃ. Atha kho cālā bhikkhunī pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā…pe… aññatarasmiṃ rukkhamūle divāvihāraṃ nisīdi. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena cālā bhikkhunī tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā cālaṃ bhikkhuniṃ etadavoca – ‘‘kiṃ nu tvaṃ, bhikkhuni, na rocesī’’ti? ‘‘Jātiṃ khvāhaṃ, āvuso, na rocemī’’ti.
63“你为什么不乐于出生?出生了,便能享受各种欲乐;
‘‘Kiṃ nu jātiṃ na rocesi, jāto kāmāni bhuñjati;
64是谁教给你这个观念的?比丘尼,不要不乐于出生啊。”
Ko nu taṃ idamādapayi, jātiṃ mā roca bhikkhunī’’ti.
65“出生的人,就会有死亡;出生了,便会接触各种苦;
‘‘Jātassa maraṇaṃ hoti, jāto dukkhāni phussati ;
66被束缚、被杀害、种种烦恼——因为这个缘故,我不乐于出生。
Bandhaṃ vadhaṃ pariklesaṃ, tasmā jātiṃ na rocaye.
67“佛陀教导了法,那超越出生的法;
‘‘Buddho dhammamadesesi, jātiyā samatikkamaṃ;
68为了彻底断除一切苦,他让我立足于真理之上。
Sabbadukkhappahānāya, so maṃ sacce nivesayi.
69那些到达色界的众生,以及那些居于无色界者,
‘‘Ye ca rūpūpagā sattā, ye ca arūpaṭṭhāyino;
70若不了知灭尽,他们仍会再度回来——再来之生。
Nirodhaṃ appajānantā, āgantāro punabbhava’’nti.
71这时,魔罗波旬心想:“遮罗比丘尼认出我来了。”他痛苦、沮丧,就在那里消失不见了。
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ cālā bhikkhunī’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
727. 优波遮罗经
7. Upacālāsuttaṃ
168【舍卫城因缘】那时,优波遮罗比丘尼在午前时分穿好衣服……在一棵树下坐着度日中休息。这时,魔罗波旬朝优波遮罗比丘尼走去。走到跟前,对优波遮罗比丘尼这样说:“比丘尼,你想投生到哪里去呢?”“朋友,我哪里都不想投生。”
Sāvatthinidānaṃ . Atha kho upacālā bhikkhunī pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā…pe… aññatarasmiṃ rukkhamūle divāvihāraṃ nisīdi. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena upacālā bhikkhunī tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā upacālaṃ bhikkhuniṃ etadavoca – ‘‘kattha nu tvaṃ, bhikkhuni, uppajjitukāmā’’ti? ‘‘Na khvāhaṃ, āvuso, katthaci uppajjitukāmā’’ti.
74“三十三天、亚马天、兜率天这些天神之境,
‘‘Tāvatiṃsā ca yāmā ca, tusitā cāpi devatā;
75化乐天的诸天,那些他化自在天的天人,
Nimmānaratino devā, ye devā vasavattino;
76请你将心投向那里,你将能享受喜乐。
Tattha cittaṃ paṇidhehi, ratiṃ paccanubhossasī’’ti.
77三十三天、夜摩天,还有兜率天的诸天,
‘‘Tāvatiṃsā ca yāmā ca, tusitā cāpi devatā;
78化乐天的诸天,那些他化自在天的天人,
Nimmānaratino devā, ye devā vasavattino;
79都被欲乐的绳索紧紧绑住,又会再次落入魔罗的掌控。
Kāmabandhanabaddhā te, enti māravasaṃ puna.
80整个世间都在燃烧,整个世间都在冒烟;
‘‘Sabbo ādīpito loko, sabbo loko padhūpito;
81整个世间在燃烧,整个世间在震动。
Sabbo pajjalito loko, sabbo loko pakampito.
82那不动、不燃烧、不为凡夫所亲近的,
‘‘Akampitaṃ apajjalitaṃ , aputhujjanasevitaṃ;
83魔罗在那里无路可去,我的心便乐在其中。
Agati yattha mārassa, tattha me nirato mano’’ti.
84那时,邪恶的魔罗心想:“优波遮罗比丘尼认出了我。”他感到痛苦、沮丧,就在那里消失不见了。
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ upacālā bhikkhunī’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
858. 西苏巴佳喇经
8. Sīsupacālāsuttaṃ
169故事发生在沙瓦提城。那时,西苏巴佳喇比丘尼在早晨穿好衣服后……(省略经文重复套话)……在一棵树下坐下,准备度过白天。那时,邪恶的魔罗走近西苏巴佳喇比丘尼,走到她身旁后,对她这样说:“比丘尼,你认同哪个宗派的教义呢?”西苏巴佳喇比丘尼回答:“朋友,我不认同任何宗派的教义。”
Sāvatthinidānaṃ . Atha kho sīsupacālā bhikkhunī pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā …pe… aññatarasmiṃ rukkhamūle divāvihāraṃ nisīdi. Atha kho māro pāpimā yena sīsupacālā bhikkhunī tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā sīsupacālaṃ bhikkhuniṃ etadavoca – ‘‘kassa nu tvaṃ, bhikkhuni, pāsaṇḍaṃ rocesī’’ti? ‘‘Na khvāhaṃ, āvuso, kassaci pāsaṇḍaṃ rocemī’’ti.
87你是针对谁的教义才剃了头?看你这样子,就像个沙门尼。
‘‘Kaṃ nu uddissa muṇḍāsi, samaṇī viya dissasi;
88‘你又不喜欢外道,为何却活得像个蠢人?’
Na ca rocesi pāsaṇḍaṃ, kimiva carasi momūhā’’ti.
89‘那些身在此法之外的外道们,对种种邪见深信不疑;
‘‘Ito bahiddhā pāsaṇḍā, diṭṭhīsu pasīdanti te;
90我不喜欢他们的教说,因为他们对法毫不善巧。’
Na tesaṃ dhammaṃ rocemi, te dhammassa akovidā.
91‘有一位出生于释迦族的觉者,无与伦比;
‘‘Atthi sakyakule jāto, buddho appaṭipuggalo;
92他征服一切、摧破魔罗,在一切处都不会失败。’
Sabbābhibhū māranudo, sabbatthamaparājito.
93‘在一切处解脱、毫无依着,他拥有一切眼,洞见一切法。’
‘‘Sabbattha mutto asito, sabbaṃ passati cakkhumā;
94已达到一切业的灭尽,在依著的灭尽中解脱。
Sabbakammakkhayaṃ patto, vimutto upadhisaṅkhaye;
95那位世尊就是我的老师,我悦乐于他的教法。”
So mayhaṃ bhagavā satthā, tassa rocemi sāsana’’nti.
96这时,魔罗波旬心想:“西苏巴佳喇比丘尼已经认出我了。”他痛苦、忧愁,就在那里消失不见了。
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ sīsupacālā bhikkhunī’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
979. 悉罗经
9. Selāsuttaṃ
170此事发生在沙瓦提城。那时,悉罗比丘尼在午前时分,穿好下衣……在一个树根下,为度过白天的独处而坐下。这时,魔罗波旬想要在悉罗比丘尼心中生起恐惧、毛发竖立的惊悚……就用偈颂对悉罗比丘尼说道:
Sāvatthinidānaṃ . Atha kho selā bhikkhunī pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā…pe… aññatarasmiṃ rukkhamūle divāvihāraṃ nisīdi. Atha kho māro pāpimā selāya bhikkhuniyā bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo…pe… selaṃ bhikkhuniṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
99“这个身形是谁所造?这个身形的作者在哪里?
‘‘Kenidaṃ pakataṃ bimbaṃ, kvanu bimbassa kārako;
100这个身形从哪里产生?这个身形又在哪里灭去?”
Kvanu bimbaṃ samuppannaṃ, kvanu bimbaṃ nirujjhatī’’ti.
101那时,悉罗比丘尼心想:“这个对我诵偈的,到底是谁?是人还是非人?”接着,悉罗比丘尼又想:“这是魔罗波旬,他想让我害怕、战栗、毛骨悚然,想把我从定中赶出去,所以才诵偈。”悉罗比丘尼认出了“这是魔罗波旬”,便用偈颂回应魔罗波旬:
Atha kho selāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘ko nu khvāyaṃ manusso vā amanusso vā gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti? Atha kho selāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘māro kho ayaṃ pāpimā mama bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo samādhimhā cāvetukāmo gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti. Atha kho selā bhikkhunī ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāhi paccabhāsi –
102这副身躯,不是自己造成的;这些苦迫,也並非他人所造。
‘‘Nayidaṃ attakataṃ bimbaṃ, nayidaṃ parakataṃ aghaṃ;
103它是依于缘因而产生,缘因坏灭时,它就熄灭了。
Hetuṃ paṭicca sambhūtaṃ, hetubhaṅgā nirujjhati.
104就像某颗种子,被播入田中而生长;
‘‘Yathā aññataraṃ bījaṃ, khette vuttaṃ virūhati;
105它需要依靠地里的养分,也需要那水分,这两样东西结合。
Pathavīrasañcāgamma, sinehañca tadūbhayaṃ.
106同样地,这些蕴、界,以及这六处,
‘‘Evaṃ khandhā ca dhātuyo, cha ca āyatanā ime;
107缘于彼因而出生;因坏散时而坏灭。
Hetuṃ paṭicca sambhūtā, hetubhaṅgā nirujjhare’’ti.
108那时,魔罗波旬心里明白:“悉罗比丘尼认出我了。”便痛苦、懊丧,就在那里消失不见了。
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ selā bhikkhunī’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.
10910. 瓦基喇经
10. Vajirāsuttaṃ
171舍卫城的因缘。那时,瓦基喇比丘尼在午前时分,穿好下衣,拿了钵与衣,进入舍卫城托钵。她在舍卫城行乞完毕,吃过饭后,从托钵归来,前往盲林作日间安住。她进入盲林后,在一棵树下坐下来作日间安住。那时,魔罗波旬想要让瓦基喇比丘尼生起恐惧、惊惶、毛骨悚然,想要令她从定中退堕,于是靠近瓦基喇比丘尼。靠近后,以偈颂对瓦基喇比丘尼说:
Sāvatthinidānaṃ . Atha kho vajirā bhikkhunī pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya sāvatthiṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Sāvatthiyaṃ piṇḍāya caritvā pacchābhattaṃ piṇḍapātapaṭikkantā yena andhavanaṃ tenupasaṅkami divāvihārāya. Andhavanaṃ ajjhogāhetvā aññatarasmiṃ rukkhamūle divāvihāraṃ nisīdi. Atha kho māro pāpimā vajirāya bhikkhuniyā bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo samādhimhā cāvetukāmo yena vajirā bhikkhunī tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā vajiraṃ bhikkhuniṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
111“这个众生是谁造作的?众生的造作者在哪里?
‘‘Kenāyaṃ pakato satto, kuvaṃ sattassa kārako;
112众生在哪里生起?众生在哪里灭去?”
Kuvaṃ satto samuppanno, kuvaṃ satto nirujjhatī’’ti.
113那时,瓦基喇比丘尼心里这样想:“这到底是什么人,是人还是非人,在说偈颂?”接着,瓦基喇比丘尼心里这样想:“这是魔罗波旬想让我生起恐惧、惊惶、毛骨悚然,想让我从定中退堕,才在说偈颂。”那时,瓦基喇比丘尼明白“这是魔罗波旬”以后,便以偈颂回答魔罗波旬:
Atha kho vajirāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘ko nu khvāyaṃ manusso vā amanusso vā gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti? Atha kho vajirāya bhikkhuniyā etadahosi – ‘‘māro kho ayaṃ pāpimā mama bhayaṃ chambhitattaṃ lomahaṃsaṃ uppādetukāmo samādhimhā cāvetukāmo gāthaṃ bhāsatī’’ti. Atha kho vajirā bhikkhunī ‘‘māro ayaṃ pāpimā’’ iti viditvā, māraṃ pāpimantaṃ gāthāhi paccabhāsi –
114“你为什么臆想出一个‘众生’呢?魔罗,你是不是落入了邪见?
‘‘Kiṃ nu sattoti paccesi, māra diṭṭhigataṃ nu te;
115这纯粹是一堆行的聚合,在这里根本找不到什么众生。”
Suddhasaṅkhārapuñjoyaṃ, nayidha sattupalabbhati.
116“就像各个零件组合起来的时候,就会有一个‘车’的名称;
‘‘Yathā hi aṅgasambhārā, hoti saddo ratho iti;
117同样地,当诸蕴存在的时候,就有了‘众生’这个约定称法。”
Evaṃ khandhesu santesu, hoti sattoti sammuti .
118“因为生起的,确实只有苦;住立的,也只有苦;灭去的,也只是苦;
‘‘Dukkhameva hi sambhoti, dukkhaṃ tiṭṭhati veti ca;
119除了苦之外,没有任何东西生起;除了苦之外,也没有任何东西灭去。”
Nāññatra dukkhā sambhoti, nāññaṃ dukkhā nirujjhatī’’ti.
120那时,魔罗波旬心想“瓦基喇比丘尼认出我了”,他痛苦、沮丧,就在那里消失了。
Atha kho māro pāpimā ‘‘jānāti maṃ vajirā bhikkhunī’’ti dukkhī dummano tatthevantaradhāyīti.

Uppalavaṇṇā ca cālā, upacālā sīsupacālā ca;
126悉罗比丘尼与瓦基喇比丘尼,她们共十位。
