1. Kolitasuttaṃ
235如是我闻:有一次,世尊住在舍卫城的祇树给孤独园。那时,具寿大目犍连对比丘们说:“贤友们,比丘们。”“贤友。”那些比丘回应具寿大目犍连。
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Tatra kho āyasmā mahāmoggallāno bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘āvuso bhikkhave’’ti. ‘‘Āvuso’’ti kho te bhikkhū āyasmato mahāmoggallānassa paccassosuṃ.
4具寿大目犍连这样说:“贤友们,在这里,当我独自静处、独坐禅思时,心里生起了这样的念头:‘圣默然、圣默然,这样说。那到底什么是圣默然呢?’贤友们,我当时这么想:‘在这里,一位比丘由于寻与伺的止息,内心获得平静,心达到专一,进入了无寻、无伺,由定而生的喜与乐的第二禅,并安住其中。这就叫作圣默然。’贤友们,我那时由于寻与伺的止息,内心获得平静,心达到专一,进入了无寻、无伺,由定而生的喜与乐的第二禅,并安住其中。贤友们,当我以这种方式安住时,伴随着寻的想与作意又开始活动了。
Āyasmā mahāmoggallāno etadavoca – ‘‘idha mayhaṃ, āvuso, rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi – ‘ariyo tuṇhībhāvo, ariyo tuṇhībhāvoti vuccati. Katamo nu kho ariyo tuṇhībhāvo’ti? Tassa mayhaṃ āvuso, etadahosi – ‘idha bhikkhu vitakkavicārānaṃ vūpasamā ajjhattaṃ sampasādanaṃ cetaso ekodibhāvaṃ avitakkaṃ avicāraṃ samādhijaṃ pītisukhaṃ dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Ayaṃ vuccati ariyo tuṇhībhāvo’ti. So khvāhaṃ, āvuso, vitakkavicārānaṃ vūpasamā ajjhattaṃ sampasādanaṃ cetaso ekodibhāvaṃ avitakkaṃ avicāraṃ samādhijaṃ pītisukhaṃ dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja vihariṃ. Tassa mayhaṃ, āvuso, iminā vihārena viharato vitakkasahagatā saññā manasikārā samudācaranti’’.
5“贤友们,那时,世尊以神通来到我面前,对我说:‘目犍连,目犍连!婆罗门,不要放逸圣默然,将心稳固在圣默然上,将心专一在圣默然上,将心集中在圣默然上。’贤友们,于是,过了一段时间后,我由于寻与伺的止息,内心获得平静,心达到专一,进入了无寻、无伺,由定而生的喜与乐的第二禅,并安住其中。贤友们,如果有人正确地说:‘那位弟子得到了导师的护持,证得了大神通。’那么,他正确地说的那个对象就是我:‘那位弟子得到了导师的护持,证得了大神通。’”第一经。
‘‘Atha kho maṃ, āvuso, bhagavā iddhiyā upasaṅkamitvā etadavoca – ‘moggallāna, moggallāna, mā, brāhmaṇa, ariyaṃ tuṇhībhāvaṃ pamādo, ariye tuṇhībhāve cittaṃ saṇṭhapehi, ariye tuṇhībhāve cittaṃ ekodibhāvaṃ karohi, ariye tuṇhībhāve cittaṃ samādahā’ti. So khvāhaṃ, āvuso, aparena samayena vitakkavicārānaṃ vūpasamā ajjhattaṃ sampasādanaṃ cetaso ekodibhāvaṃ avitakkaṃ avicāraṃ samādhijaṃ pītisukhaṃ dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharāmi. Yañhi taṃ, āvuso , sammā vadamāno vadeyya – ‘satthārā anuggahito sāvako mahābhiññataṃ patto’ti, mamaṃ taṃ sammā vadamāno vadeyya – ‘satthārā anuggahito sāvako mahābhiññataṃ patto’’’ti. Paṭhamaṃ.

2. Upatissasuttaṃ
236〔……〕住在舍卫城。在那里,具寿舍利弗对比丘们说:“贤友们,比丘们。”“贤友。”那些比丘回应具寿舍利弗。具寿舍利弗这样说:
Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati. Tatra kho āyasmā sāriputto bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘āvuso bhikkhave’’ti. ‘‘Āvuso’’ti kho te bhikkhū āyasmato sāriputtassa paccassosuṃ. Āyasmā sāriputto etadavoca –
8“贤友们,在这里,当我独自静处、独坐禅思时,心里生起了这样的念头:‘在这个世间,到底有没有任何事物,会因为它的变易、变化,而让我生起忧、悲、苦、忧、恼呢?’贤友们,我当时这么想:‘在这个世间,没有任何事物,会因为它的变易、变化,而让我生起忧、悲、苦、忧、恼。’”
‘‘Idha mayhaṃ, āvuso, rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi – ‘atthi nu kho taṃ kiñci lokasmiṃ yassa me vipariṇāmaññathābhāvā uppajjeyyuṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā’ti? Tassa mayhaṃ, āvuso, etadahosi – ‘natthi kho taṃ kiñci lokasmiṃ yassa me vipariṇāmaññathābhāvā uppajjeyyuṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā’’’ti.
9听了这话,具寿阿难对具寿舍利弗这样说:“舍利弗贤友,即使是导师的变易、变化,也不会让你生起忧、悲、苦、忧、恼吗?”“贤友,即使是导师的变易、变化,也不会让我生起忧、悲、苦、忧、恼。但是,我会这样想:‘唉!那位有大威力、大神通、大势力的导师世尊逝去了。如果世尊能够长久地住世很长时间,那将会是为了大众的利益、为了大众的安乐、出于对世间的悲悯、为了人天的利益、福利和安乐。’”确实,正是因为具寿舍利弗长久以来,已经彻底根除了我执、我所执和慢的随眠。所以,即使是导师的变易、变化,也不会让具寿舍利弗生起忧、悲、苦、忧、恼。”第二经。
Evaṃ vutte, āyasmā ānando āyasmantaṃ sāriputtaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘satthupi kho te, āvuso sāriputta, vipariṇāmaññathābhāvā nuppajjeyyuṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā’’ti? ‘‘Satthupi kho me, āvuso, vipariṇāmaññathābhāvā nuppajjeyyuṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā, api ca me evamassa – ‘mahesakkho vata, bho, satthā antarahito mahiddhiko mahānubhāvo. Sace hi bhagavā ciraṃ dīghamaddhānaṃ tiṭṭheyya tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussāna’nti. Tathā hi panāyasmato sāriputtassa dīgharattaṃ ahaṅkāramamaṅkāramānānusayā susamūhatā. Tasmā āyasmato sāriputtassa satthupi vipariṇāmaññathābhāvā nuppajjeyyuṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā’’ti. 3. Ghaṭasuttaṃ
237如是我闻:有一次,世尊住在沙瓦提城的揭德林给孤独园里。那时候,具寿舍利弗和具寿大目犍连都住在王舍城的竹林喂松鼠处,共住在一间小屋里。到了傍晚时分,具寿舍利弗从独处静坐中起来,朝具寿大目犍连那儿走去。他走到后,和具寿大目犍连互相亲切问候,彼此诚恳交谈了一番,然后在一旁坐下。坐在一旁后,具寿舍利弗对具寿大目犍连这样说:
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Tena kho pana samayena āyasmā ca sāriputto āyasmā ca mahāmoggallāno rājagahe viharanti veḷuvane kalandakanivāpe ekavihāre. Atha kho āyasmā sāriputto sāyanhasamayaṃ paṭisallānā vuṭṭhito yenāyasmā mahāmoggallāno tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmatā mahāmoggallānena saddhiṃ sammodi. Sammodanīyaṃ kathaṃ sāraṇīyaṃ vītisāretvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho āyasmā sāriputto āyasmantaṃ mahāmoggallānaṃ etadavoca –
12“亲爱的目犍连贤友,你的根门是那么澄净,面容是那么洁净、明亮。想必,具寿大目犍连今天是以一种安静的方式度过的吧?” “贤友啊,我今天确实是以一种比较粗的层面度过的,不过我曾经有过一次法谈。” “那么,具寿大目犍连是跟谁进行的法谈呢?” “贤友啊,我是跟世尊进行的法谈。” “贤友啊,世尊现在可是远在沙瓦提城的揭德林给孤独园住着。那么,是大目犍连尊者用神通去见世尊的呢,还是世尊用神通来见大目犍连尊者的呢?” “贤友啊,不是我以神通去见世尊,世尊也不是以神通来见我。而是我,将我的天眼和天耳界完全净化到能覆盖世尊所在之处的程度;世尊也将他的天眼和天耳界完全净化到能覆盖我所在之处的程度。” “那么,具寿大目犍连和世尊具体谈了什么法呢?”
‘‘Vippasannāni kho te, āvuso moggallāna, indriyāni; parisuddho mukhavaṇṇo pariyodāto santena nūnāyasmā mahāmoggallāno ajja vihārena vihāsī’’ti. ‘‘Oḷārikena khvāhaṃ, āvuso, ajja vihārena vihāsiṃ. Api ca, me ahosi dhammī kathā’’ti. ‘‘Kena saddhiṃ panāyasmato mahāmoggallānassa ahosi dhammī kathā’’ti? ‘‘Bhagavatā kho me, āvuso, saddhiṃ ahosi dhammī kathā’’ti. ‘‘Dūre kho, āvuso, bhagavā etarahi sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Kiṃ nu kho, āyasmā, mahāmoggallāno bhagavantaṃ iddhiyā upasaṅkami; udāhu bhagavā āyasmantaṃ mahāmoggallānaṃ iddhiyā upasaṅkamī’’ti? ‘‘Na khvāhaṃ, āvuso, bhagavantaṃ iddhiyā upasaṅkamiṃ; napi maṃ bhagavā iddhiyā upasaṅkami. Api ca, me yāvatā bhagavā ettāvatā dibbacakkhu visujjhi dibbā ca sotadhātu. Bhagavatopi yāvatāhaṃ ettāvatā dibbacakkhu visujjhi dibbā ca sotadhātū’’ti. ‘‘Yathākathaṃ panāyasmato mahāmoggallānassa bhagavatā saddhiṃ ahosi dhammī kathā’’ti?
13“贤友啊,我当时这样问世尊:‘尊者,人们说“已发勤精进者,已发勤精进者”。世尊,怎样才算是一个已发勤精进者呢?’ 当我这么问的时候,贤友啊,世尊这样回答我:‘目犍连啊,这里,一位比丘这样安住而生起勤精进:即使身体里只剩下皮、筋、骨,血肉都已经干枯,只要还没有证得那值得凭借男子汉的力气、男子汉的雄劲、男子汉的勇猛去证得的,我的精进就绝不会停歇。目犍连啊,这样就叫做已发勤精进者了。’ 贤友啊,我和世尊的法谈,就是这样进行的。”
‘‘Idhāhaṃ, āvuso, bhagavantaṃ etadavocaṃ – ‘āraddhavīriyo āraddhavīriyoti, bhante, vuccati. Kittāvatā nu kho, bhante, āraddhavīriyo hotī’ti? Evaṃ vutte, maṃ, āvuso, bhagavā etadavoca – ‘idha, moggallāna, bhikkhu āraddhavīriyo viharati – kāmaṃ taco ca nhāru ca aṭṭhī ca avasissatu, sarīre upasussatu maṃsalohitaṃ, yaṃ taṃ purisathāmena purisavīriyena purisaparakkamena pattabbaṃ na taṃ apāpuṇitvā vīriyassa saṇṭhānaṃ bhavissatīti. Evaṃ kho, moggallāna, āraddhavīriyo hotī’ti. Evaṃ kho me, āvuso, bhagavatā saddhiṃ ahosi dhammī kathā’’ti.
14“贤友啊,就像喜马拉雅山王旁边的小石子、小沙砾,充其量只能算是丢在那里的小东西;我们和具寿大目犍连相比如出一辙,充其量也只能算是放在那里罢了。因为具寿大目犍连,他有大神通、大威力,他若愿意的话,甚至可以活整整一劫呢。”
‘‘Seyyathāpi, āvuso, himavato pabbatarājassa parittā pāsāṇasakkharā yāvadeva upanikkhepanamattāya ; evameva kho mayaṃ āyasmato mahāmoggallānassa yāvadeva upanikkhepanamattāya. Āyasmā hi mahāmoggallāno mahiddhiko mahānubhāvo ākaṅkhamāno kappaṃ tiṭṭheyyā’’ti.
15“贤友啊,也正像一个巨大的盐瓶旁边的一粒小盐巴,充其量只能算是丢在那里的小东西;我们和具寿舍利弗相比如出一辙,充其量也只能算是放在那里罢了。因为具寿舍利弗,可是屡次受到世尊以各种方式称赞、夸奖、赞扬的:
‘‘Seyyathāpi , āvuso, mahatiyā loṇaghaṭāya parittā loṇasakkharāya yāvadeva upanikkhepanamattāya; evameva kho mayaṃ āyasmato sāriputtassa yāvadeva upanikkhepanamattāya. Āyasmā hi sāriputto bhagavatā anekapariyāyena thomito vaṇṇito pasattho –
16“在智慧上,在戒行上,在内心的寂静上——唯有舍利弗是如此圆满;
‘‘Sāriputtova paññāya, sīlena upasamena ca;
17它的摄颂是:
Tassuddānaṃ –
18即使是已达彼岸的比丘,也以此为其终极。
Yopi pāraṅgato bhikkhu, etāvaparamo siyā’’ti.
19就这样,这两位大龙象,相互间对于各自的善说妙言,共同随喜赞叹了。第三经。
Itiha te ubho mahānāgā aññamaññassa subhāsitaṃ sulapitaṃ samanumodiṃsūti. Tatiyaṃ.

4. Navasuttaṃ
238在沙瓦提城。那时候,有一位新比丘,在吃过午饭后,从托钵回来,一进寺院就显得漠不关心,沉默不语,懒散懈怠,在应该缝制袈裟的时候,也不为诸比丘做些服务性的事务。于是,许多比丘就去拜见世尊;到了之后,礼敬世尊,坐在一边。坐在一边的比丘们就这么对世尊说:‘大德,这里有一位新比丘,在吃过午饭后,从托钵回来,一进寺院就显得漠不关心,沉默不语,懒散懈怠,在缝制袈裟的时候,也不为诸比丘做些服务性的事务。’
Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati. Tena kho pana samayena aññataro navo bhikkhu pacchābhattaṃ piṇḍapātapaṭikkanto vihāraṃ pavisitvā appossukko tuṇhībhūto saṅkasāyati, na bhikkhūnaṃ veyyāvaccaṃ karoti cīvarakārasamaye. Atha kho sambahulā bhikkhū yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdiṃsu. Ekamantaṃ nisinnā kho te bhikkhū bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘idha , bhante, aññataro navo bhikkhu pacchābhattaṃ piṇḍapātapaṭikkanto vihāraṃ pavisitvā appossukko tuṇhībhūto saṅkasāyati, na bhikkhūnaṃ veyyāvaccaṃ karoti cīvarakārasamaye’’ti.
22接着,世尊就对某一位比丘说:‘来吧,比丘,你以我的话去传唤那位比丘,告诉他:“贤友,导师叫你呢。”’‘好的,大德。’那位比丘应答了世尊后,就去找那位比丘;到了之后,就这么对那位比丘说:‘贤友,导师叫你呢。’‘好的,贤友。’那位比丘应答了那位比丘后,就去拜见世尊;到了之后,礼敬世尊,坐在一边。等那位比丘在一边坐好后,世尊就这么对他说:‘比丘,听说你在吃过午饭后,从托钵回来,一进寺院就显得漠不关心,沉默不语,懒散懈怠,在缝制袈裟的时候,也不为诸比丘做些服务性的事务,这是真的吗?’‘大德,我是在做我自己的本分事啊。’
Atha kho bhagavā aññataraṃ bhikkhuṃ āmantesi – ‘‘ehi tvaṃ, bhikkhu, mama vacanena taṃ bhikkhuṃ āmantehi ‘satthā taṃ, āvuso, āmantetī’’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ bhante’’ti kho so bhikkhu bhagavato paṭissutvā yena so bhikkhu tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā taṃ bhikkhuṃ etadavoca – ‘‘satthā taṃ, āvuso, āmantetī’’ti. ‘‘Evamāvuso’’ti kho so bhikkhu tassa bhikkhuno paṭissutvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi . Ekamantaṃ nisinnaṃ kho taṃ bhikkhuṃ bhagavā etadavoca – ‘‘saccaṃ kira tvaṃ, bhikkhu, pacchābhattaṃ piṇḍapātapaṭikkanto vihāraṃ pavisitvā appossukko tuṇhībhūto saṅkasāyasi, na bhikkhūnaṃ veyyāvaccaṃ karosi cīvarakārasamaye’’ti? ‘‘Ahampi kho, bhante, sakaṃ kiccaṃ karomī’’ti.
23那时,世尊以自心洞察了那位比丘心念的运作之后,就对诸比丘说:‘诸比丘,你们不要对这位比丘心生抱怨。诸比丘,这位比丘对于属于上界心的四种禅那,能给与当下乐住之道,是想要就能获得,无困难就能获得,不费力就能获得的。而善男子之所以正确地离家而出家,投入非家生活,正是为了那个目标;那个无上的、梵行的究竟成就,他就在这现见法中,亲证自知,体证而住。’
Atha kho bhagavā tassa bhikkhuno cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘mā kho tumhe, bhikkhave, etassa bhikkhuno ujjhāyittha. Eso kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu catunnaṃ jhānānaṃ ābhicetasikānaṃ diṭṭhadhammasukhavihārānaṃ nikāmalābhī akicchalābhī akasiralābhī, yassa catthāya kulaputtā sammadeva agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajanti, tadanuttaraṃ brahmacariyapariyosānaṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharatī’’ti.
24这是世尊所说的。说完这些后,善逝、大师接着又这样说——
Idamavoca bhagavā. Idaṃ vatvāna sugato athāparaṃ etadavoca satthā –
25这不是懈怠能成就的,也不是靠少少的努力就能达成的;
‘‘Nayidaṃ sithilamārabbha, nayidaṃ appena thāmasā;
26涅槃应当证得,那是从一切苦的解脱。
Nibbānaṃ adhigantabbaṃ, sabbadukkhappamocanaṃ.
27而这位年轻的比丘,这位最崇高的人;
‘‘Ayañca daharo bhikkhu, ayamuttamapuriso;
28他持着最后之身,战胜了魔罗与魔军。第五经终。
Dhāreti antimaṃ dehaṃ, jetvā māraṃ savāhini’’nti. pañcamaṃ;
295. 苏加答经
5. Sujātasuttaṃ
239在舍卫城。那时,具寿苏加答来到世尊那里。世尊远远看见具寿苏加答走过来,看见之后,就对诸比丘说:“比丘们,这位善男子在两方面的确是庄严的——他有着俊美的容貌,让人赏心悦目,庄严殊妙,具备最上等的相貌光彩;同时,他也为了那个善男子们正确地由在家而出家、过着无家生活所要达到的目标,在现法中以自身的智证现证、达到并安住在那无上的梵行究竟之中。”世尊说了这个……导师说:
Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati. Atha kho āyasmā sujāto yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami. Addasā kho bhagavā āyasmantaṃ sujātaṃ dūratova āgacchantaṃ. Disvāna bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘ubhayenevāyaṃ, bhikkhave, kulaputto sobhati – yañca abhirūpo dassanīyo pāsādiko paramāya vaṇṇapokkharatāya samannāgato, yassa catthāya kulaputtā sammadeva agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajjanti tadanuttaraṃ brahmacariyapariyosānaṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharatī’’ti. Idamavoca bhagavā…pe… satthā –
31这位比丘确实庄严,以正直之心;
‘‘Sobhati vatāyaṃ bhikkhu, ujubhūtena cetasā;
32他已远离,已离系,不执取而证得寂灭。
Vippayutto visaṃyutto, anupādāya nibbuto;
33他保持着最后之身,已战胜了魔罗及其军队。第四。
Dhāreti antimaṃ dehaṃ, jetvā māraṃ savāhini’’nti. catutthaṃ;
346. 喇昆荼咖跋地亚经
6. Lakuṇḍakabhaddiyasuttaṃ
240在舍卫城。那时,具寿喇昆荼咖跋地亚前来拜见世尊。世尊远远就看见具寿喇昆荼咖跋地亚正走过来。看见后,世尊对比丘们说:“比丘们,你们看见那个正走过来的比丘吗?他相貌丑陋,身形难看,个子矮小,一直都被比丘们瞧不起。”“是的,尊者。”“比丘们,这位比丘其实是大神通、大威力者。而且,他之前从未达到过的等至,并不容易证得——那种他以前未曾进入的定境,他现已证得。良家子弟正是为了这个目的,才正确地舍俗出家,过着无家的生活。那无上梵行的终极,他就在这现法之中,亲自以证智体证,安住其中。”世尊说了这番话……导师又说:
Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati. Atha kho āyasmā lakuṇḍakabhaddiyo yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami. Addasā kho bhagavā āyasmantaṃ lakuṇḍakabhaddiyaṃ dūratova āgacchantaṃ. Disvāna bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, etaṃ bhikkhuṃ āgacchantaṃ dubbaṇṇaṃ duddasikaṃ okoṭimakaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ paribhūtarūpa’’nti? ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’. ‘‘Eso kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu mahiddhiko mahānubhāvo, na ca sā samāpatti sulabharūpā yā tena bhikkhunā asamāpannapubbā. Yassa catthāya kulaputtā sammadeva agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajanti, tadanuttaraṃ brahmacariyapariyosānaṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharatī’’ti. Idamavoca bhagavā…pe… satthā –
36天鹅、苍鹭、孔雀,大象、牛与鹿,
‘‘Haṃsā koñcā mayūrā ca, hatthayo pasadā migā;
37一切众生都畏惧狮子,在身体的力量上,狮子无与伦比。
Sabbe sīhassa bhāyanti, natthi kāyasmiṃ tulyatā.
38同样地,在人群之中,即使年轻,只要有智慧,
‘‘Evameva manussesu, daharo cepi paññavā;
39他在那里真伟大,不是愚者徒有身体。第六经。

7. Visākhasuttaṃ
241如是我闻,一时世尊住在毗舍离大林重阁讲堂。那时,具寿毗舍佉·般遮罗子在集会堂以法语开示、劝发、鼓励、令诸比丘喜悦,用优雅、流畅、无过失、能阐明义理、含摄圆满、不执着的言辞。
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā vesāliyaṃ viharati mahāvane kūṭāgārasālāyaṃ. Tena kho pana samayena āyasmā visākho pañcālaputto upaṭṭhānasālāyaṃ bhikkhū dhammiyā kathāya sandasseti samādapeti samuttejeti sampahaṃseti, poriyā vācāya vissaṭṭhāya anelagalāya atthassa viññāpaniyā pariyāpannāya anissitāya.
42那时,世尊傍晚从独处禅坐起来,到集会堂去,在铺好的座位上坐下。坐下后,世尊问诸比丘:“比丘们,谁在集会堂以法语开示、劝发、鼓励、令诸比丘喜悦,用优雅、流畅、无过失、能阐明义理、含摄圆满、不执着的言辞?” “尊者,是具寿毗舍佉·般遮罗子在集会堂以法语开示、劝发、鼓励、令诸比丘喜悦,用优雅、流畅、无过失、能阐明义理、含摄圆满、不执着的言辞。”
Atha kho bhagavā sāyanhasamayaṃ paṭisallānā vuṭṭhito yena upaṭṭhānasālā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā paññatte āsane nisīdi. Nisajja kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘ko nu kho, bhikkhave, upaṭṭhānasālāyaṃ bhikkhū dhammiyā kathāya sandasseti samādapeti samuttejeti sampahaṃseti poriyā vācāya vissaṭṭhāya anelagalāya atthassa viññāpaniyā pariyāpannāya anissitāyā’’ti? ‘‘Āyasmā, bhante, visākho pañcālaputto upaṭṭhānasālāyaṃ bhikkhū dhammiyā kathāya sandasseti samādapeti samuttejeti sampahaṃseti, poriyā vācāya vissaṭṭhāya anelagalāya atthassa viññāpaniyā pariyāpannāya anissitāyā’’ti.
43于是世尊对具寿毗舍佉·般遮罗子说:“善哉,善哉,毗舍佉!你很好地以法语开示诸比丘……能阐明义理、含摄圆满、不执着。”
Atha kho bhagavā āyasmantaṃ visākhaṃ pañcālaputtaṃ āmantesi – ‘‘sādhu sādhu, visākha, sādhu kho tvaṃ, visākha, bhikkhū dhammiyā kathāya sandassesi…pe… atthassa viññāpaniyā pariyāpannāya anissitāyā’’ti.
44这是世尊所说。善逝这样说了之后,导师又进一步说了如下偈颂:
Idamavoca bhagavā. Idaṃ vatvāna sugato athāparaṃ etadavoca satthā –
45“愚人中的智者若沉默,人们不会认出他;”
‘‘Nābhāsamānaṃ jānanti, missaṃ bālehi paṇḍitaṃ;
46当他在说话时,人们知晓;他正在教导不死之道。
Bhāsamānañca jānanti, desentaṃ amataṃ padaṃ.
47他应当说法,令法光耀,高举仙人们的旗帜;
‘‘Bhāsaye jotaye dhammaṃ, paggaṇhe isinaṃ dhajaṃ;
48仙人们是以善说为旗帜的,因为法正是仙人们的旗帜。第七经终。
Subhāsitadhajā isayo, dhammo hi isinaṃ dhajo’’ti. sattamaṃ;
498. 难陀经
8. Nandasuttaṃ
242在舍卫城住。那时,具寿难陀——世尊的表兄之子——穿着浆烫得笔挺、打褶整齐的衣袍,涂了眼睛,拿着锃亮的钵盂,来到世尊那里。顶礼后,坐在一旁。世尊对坐在一边的具寿难陀这样说:“难陀,你作为出于信心从在家而出家的善男子,这样做不合适:你穿着浆烫笔挺的衣袍,涂眼睛,持着锃亮的钵盂。难陀,对你而言,作为出于信心从在家而出家的善男子,这合适:你应当成为住阿兰若者、乞食者、穿粪扫衣者,并在诸欲上毫无期盼地安住。”世尊说完后,……导师又说:
Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati. Atha kho āyasmā nando bhagavato mātucchāputto ākoṭitapaccākoṭitāni cīvarāni pārupitvā akkhīni añjetvā acchaṃ pattaṃ gahetvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinnaṃ kho āyasmantaṃ nandaṃ bhagavā etadavoca – ‘‘na kho te taṃ, nanda, patirūpaṃ kulaputtassa saddhā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajitassa, yaṃ tvaṃ ākoṭitapaccākoṭitāni cīvarāni pārupeyyāsi, akkhīni ca añjeyyāsi, acchañca pattaṃ dhāreyyāsi. Etaṃ kho te, nanda, patirūpaṃ kulaputtassa saddhā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajitassa, yaṃ tvaṃ āraññiko ca assasi, piṇḍapātiko ca paṃsukuliko ca kāmesu ca anapekkho vihareyyāsī’’ti. 51“我什么时候能见到难陀,成为住阿兰若者、穿粪扫衣者,
‘‘Kadāhaṃ nandaṃ passeyyaṃ, āraññaṃ paṃsukūlikaṃ;
52靠捡来的残食维生,对诸欲无所期盼。”
Aññātuñchena yāpentaṃ, kāmesu anapekkhina’’nti.
53后来,具寿难陀成了在阿兰若住者、乞食者、穿粪扫衣者,并且心不挂念于诸欲乐。他这样安住。第八经。
Atha kho āyasmā nando aparena samayena āraññiko ca piṇḍapātiko ca paṃsukūliko ca kāmesu ca anapekkho vihāsīti. Aṭṭhamaṃ.
549. 帝萨经
9. Tissasuttaṃ
243在沙瓦提城。那时,具寿帝萨——他是世尊姑母的儿子——来到世尊那里。到了之后,礼敬世尊,然后坐在一边。他痛苦、沮丧,流着眼泪。当时,世尊对具寿帝萨这样说:"帝萨,你为什么独自坐在一边,痛苦、沮丧,流着眼泪呢?" "大德,因为比丘们从四面八方用言语的刺来扎我。" "帝萨,你确实是个能说的人,但却不是个能接受别人话的人。帝萨,你身为善男子,凭信心从在家出家成为非家者,却不能接受别人的话,这对你不合适。帝萨,你身为善男子,凭信心从在家出家成为非家者,对你合适的其实是——你要既能说,也能接受别人的话。"
Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati. Atha kho āyasmā tisso bhagavato pitucchāputto yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami ; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi dukkhī dummano assūni pavattayamāno. Atha kho bhagavā āyasmantaṃ tissaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘kiṃ nu kho tvaṃ, tissa, ekamantaṃ nisinno dukkhī dummano assūni pavattayamāno’’ti? ‘‘Tathā hi pana maṃ, bhante, bhikkhū samantā vācāsannitodakena sañjambharimakaṃsū’’ti . ‘‘Tathāhi pana tvaṃ, tissa, vattā no ca vacanakkhamo; na kho te taṃ, tissa, patirūpaṃ kulaputtassa saddhā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajitassa, yaṃ tvaṃ vattā no ca vacanakkhamo. Etaṃ kho te, tissa, patirūpaṃ kulaputtassa saddhā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajitassa – ‘yaṃ tvaṃ vattā ca assa vacanakkhamo cā’’’ti.
56这是世尊所宣说的。说完这个之后,善逝、导师接着又说了以下的话:
Idamavoca bhagavā. Idaṃ vatvāna sugato athāparaṃ etadavoca satthā –
57"你为什么要忿怒?不要忿怒,帝萨,不忿怒对你更好。
‘‘Kiṃ nu kujjhasi mā kujjhi, akkodho tissa te varaṃ;
58帝萨,正是为了调伏忿怒、慢和过慢,才来修这梵行的。"第九经。
Kodhamānamakkhavinayatthañhi, tissa brahmacariyaṃ vussatī’’ti. navamaṃ;
5910. 长老名经
10. Theranāmakasuttaṃ
244有一次,世尊住在王舍城竹林里的松鼠饲养处。那时,有一位名叫"长老"的比丘,他是个独住者,也赞叹独住。他独自进入村庄乞食,独自返回,独自坐在隐蔽处,独自经行。当时,众多比丘来到世尊那里。到了之后,礼敬世尊,然后坐在一边。坐在一边的比丘们对世尊这样说:"大德,这里有一位名叫'长老'的比丘,他是独住者,也赞叹独住。"
Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā rājagahe viharati veḷuvane kalandakanivāpe. Tena kho pana samayena aññataro bhikkhu theranāmako ekavihārī ceva hoti ekavihārassa ca vaṇṇavādī. So eko gāmaṃ piṇḍāya pavisati eko paṭikkamati eko raho nisīdati eko caṅkamaṃ adhiṭṭhāti. Atha kho sambahulā bhikkhū yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu ; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdiṃsu. Ekamantaṃ nisinnā kho te bhikkhū bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘idha, bhante, aññataro bhikkhu theranāmako ekavihārī ekavihārassa ca vaṇṇavādī’’ti.
61那时,世尊招呼某位比丘说:“来,比丘,你以我的名义去告知那位名叫长老的比丘:‘朋友长老,导师在召唤你。’”那位比丘回答说:“是的,尊者。”他听从世尊的指示,去到了具寿长老那里,对他说道:“朋友长老,导师在召唤你。”“好的,朋友。”具寿长老答应了那位比丘后,便来到世尊所在的地方,顶礼世尊后坐在一边。坐定后,世尊对具寿长老说:“长老,听说你是一位独住者,而且还赞叹独住,这是真的吗?”“是的,尊者。”“那么,长老,你是怎样成为独住者并赞叹独住的呢?”“尊者,我是这样做的:独自进入村子乞食,独自返回,独自静坐,独自安立经行。尊者,我就是这样独住并赞叹独住的。”
Atha kho bhagavā aññataraṃ bhikkhuṃ āmantesi – ‘‘ehi tvaṃ, bhikkhu, mama vacanena theraṃ bhikkhuṃ āmantehi – ‘satthā taṃ, āvuso thera, āmantetī’’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’ti kho so bhikkhu bhagavato paṭissutvā yenāyasmā thero tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā āyasmantaṃ theraṃ etadavoca – ‘‘satthā taṃ, āvuso thera, āmantetī’’ti. ‘‘Evamāvuso’’ti kho āyasmā thero tassa bhikkhuno paṭissutvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinnaṃ kho āyasmantaṃ theraṃ bhagavā etadavoca – ‘‘saccaṃ kira tvaṃ, thera, ekavihārī ekavihārassa ca vaṇṇavādī’’ti? ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’. ‘‘Yathā kathaṃ pana tvaṃ, thera, ekavihārī ekavihārassa ca vaṇṇavādī’’ti? ‘‘Idhāhaṃ, bhante, eko gāmaṃ piṇḍāya pavisāmi eko paṭikkamāmi eko raho nisīdāmi eko caṅkamaṃ adhiṭṭhāmi. Evaṃ khvāhaṃ, bhante, ekavihārī ekavihārassa ca vaṇṇavādī’’ti.
62“长老,这的确是一种独住,我并不说它不是。不过,长老,我来告诉你,独住如何才算得上详尽而圆满。你仔细听,好好倾注心意,我要说了。”“是的,尊者。”具寿长老回答道。世尊于是说:“长老,怎样才算独住详尽而圆满呢?这里,长老,凡是过去的都已被舍断,未来的都已被弃绝,而对当下所获得的个体存在中的欲贪,也已妥善地调伏。长老,这样才是详尽而圆满的独住。”
‘‘Attheso, thera, ekavihāro neso natthīti vadāmi. Api ca, thera, yathā ekavihāro vitthārena paripuṇṇo hoti taṃ suṇāhi, sādhukaṃ manasi karohi; bhāsissāmī’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’ti kho…pe…. ‘‘Kathañca , thera, ekavihāro vitthārena paripuṇṇo hoti. Idha, thera, yaṃ atītaṃ taṃ pahīnaṃ, yaṃ anāgataṃ taṃ paṭinissaṭṭhaṃ, paccuppannesu ca attabhāvapaṭilābhesu chandarāgo suppaṭivinīto. Evaṃ kho, thera, ekavihāro vitthārena paripuṇṇo hotī’’ti.
63世尊说了这些。善逝这样说完后,导师又进一步说了下面的话:
Idamavoca bhagavā. Idaṃ vatvāna sugato athāparaṃ etadavoca satthā –
64“征服一切,了知一切,具有善慧;
‘‘Sabbābhibhuṃ sabbaviduṃ sumedhaṃ,
65于一切法无所染着;
Sabbesu dhammesu anūpalittaṃ;
66舍弃一切,在渴爱的灭尽中获得解脱。”
Sabbañjahaṃ taṇhākkhaye vimuttaṃ,
67我说那个人,他才叫作独住者。”第十经。
Tamahaṃ naraṃ ekavihārīti brūmī’’ti. dasamaṃ;
6811. 玛哈咖毕那经
11. Mahākappinasuttaṃ
245住在沙瓦提城。那时,具寿玛哈咖毕那来到世尊那里。世尊看见具寿玛哈咖毕那从远处走来。看见之后,世尊对诸比丘说:“诸比丘,你们看见那位走过来的比丘了吗——肤色白皙、身形清瘦、鼻梁高挺?”“是的,尊者。”“诸比丘,这位比丘,有大神通、大威力。而且那种等至,极为稀有难得,那位比丘以前未曾进入过。正是为了那个目的,善男子们正确地舍弃家庭、过着无家的出家生活,那就是:就在这个现见的法中,亲自以殊胜的智慧证得、具足安住于那无上的梵行终极目标。”
Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati. Atha kho āyasmā mahākappino yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami. Addasā kho bhagavā āyasmantaṃ mahākappinaṃ dūratova āgacchantaṃ. Disvāna bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘passatha no tumhe bhikkhave, etaṃ bhikkhuṃ āgacchantaṃ odātakaṃ tanukaṃ tuṅganāsika’’nti? ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’. ‘‘Eso kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu mahiddhiko mahānubhāvo. Na ca sā samāpatti sulabharūpā yā tena bhikkhunā asamāpannapubbā. Yassa catthāya kulaputtā sammadeva agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajanti tadanuttaraṃ brahmacariyapariyosānaṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharatī’’ti.
70世尊说了这席话。善逝这样说后,导师又说了以下的话:
Idamavoca bhagavā. Idaṃ vatvāna sugato athāparaṃ etadavoca satthā –
71“在依族姓而行的人中,刹帝利最为尊胜;
‘‘Khattiyo seṭṭho janetasmiṃ, ye gottapaṭisārino;
72而明行足, 在人天之中最为殊胜。
Vijjācaraṇasampanno, so seṭṭho devamānuse.
73“太阳在白天照耀,月亮在夜晚发光;
‘‘Divā tapati ādicco, rattimābhāti candimā;
74武装的刹帝利绽放光辉,修禅的婆罗门绽放光辉;
Sannaddho khattiyo tapati, jhāyī tapati brāhmaṇo;
75而在一切日夜中,佛陀以威德力绽放光辉。”第十一经。
Atha sabbamahorattiṃ , buddho tapati tejasā’’ti. ekādasamaṃ;
7612. 同伴经
12. Sahāyakasuttaṃ
246在沙瓦提城居住。那时,有两位比丘,是具寿玛哈咖毕那的共住弟子,结伴来到世尊这里。世尊远远看到那两位比丘走过来。看见之后,世尊就对诸比丘们说:“诸比丘,你们看见那边走过来的那两位比丘,就是咖毕那的共住弟子吗?”“看到了,尊者。”“诸比丘,这两位比丘是大神通、大威力者。那种他们之前未曾达到的定,是很难得的。正是为了那个目的,善男子们才正确地离家出家,进入无家生活,他们在这一生就亲证、实现、成就并安住于那无上的梵行终结。”
Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati. Atha kho dve bhikkhū sahāyakā āyasmato mahākappinassa saddhivihārino yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu. Addasā kho bhagavā te bhikkhū dūratova āgacchante. Disvāna bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, ete bhikkhū sahāyake āgacchante kappinassa saddhivihārino’’ti? ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’. ‘‘Ete kho te bhikkhū mahiddhikā mahānubhāvā. Na ca sā samāpatti sulabharūpā, yā tehi bhikkhūhi asamāpannapubbā. Yassa catthāya kulaputtā sammadeva agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajanti tadanuttaraṃ brahmacariyapariyosānaṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharantī’’ti.
78这是世尊所说。善逝这样宣说后,作为导师的他,又进一步说道:
Idamavoca bhagavā. Idaṃ vatvāna sugato athāparaṃ etadavoca satthā –
79“这两位比丘确是久远以来的同伴和道友,
‘‘Sahāyā vatime bhikkhū, cirarattaṃ sametikā;
80他们与佛陀所宣说的法,这正法相契合。”
Sameti nesaṃ saddhammo, dhamme buddhappavedite.
81“玛哈咖毕那等众在圣者所宣说的法上,得到了极好的调练;
‘‘Suvinītā kappinena, dhamme ariyappavedite;
82他们维持着最后之身,已征服了魔军与魔众。” 第十二经。
Dhārenti antimaṃ dehaṃ, jetvā māraṃ savāhini’’nti. dvādasamaṃ;
