6. Mahāgovindasuttaṃ
293如是我闻:一时,世尊住在王舍城灵鹫山。那时,干达拔之子五髻于夜已深时,以殊胜的光辉照亮整座灵鹫山后,来到世尊之处;到达后,礼敬世尊,站立于一旁。站立于一旁的干达拔之子五髻对世尊如此说:「尊者,我在三十三天众面前所听闻、所领受的,我向世尊报告。」世尊说:「五髻,你向我报告吧。」
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā rājagahe viharati gijjhakūṭe pabbate. Atha kho pañcasikho gandhabbaputto abhikkantāya rattiyā abhikkantavaṇṇo kevalakappaṃ gijjhakūṭaṃ pabbataṃ obhāsetvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṃ ṭhito kho pañcasikho gandhabbaputto bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘yaṃ kho me, bhante, devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ sammukhā sutaṃ sammukhā paṭiggahitaṃ, ārocemi taṃ bhagavato’’ti. ‘‘Ārocehi me tvaṃ, pañcasikhā’’ti bhagavā avoca.

294‘世尊,在不久之前的那些日子,有一天正是十五布萨日,在滿月之夜的月圆时分,所有的三十三天众都聚集在善法堂,会合在一起;一大群天众从四周就座,四大天王也坐在四个方位。东方的持国天王面向西而坐,以天众为前导;南方的增长天王面向北而坐,以天众为前导;西方的广目天王面向东而坐,以天众为前导;北方的多闻天王面向南而坐,以天众为前导。世尊,当所有的三十三天众在善法堂中聚集会合,大群天众从四周就座,四大天王坐在四个方位时,这些是他们的座位,之后才是我们的座位。’
‘‘Purimāni, bhante, divasāni purimatarāni tadahuposathe pannarase pavāraṇāya puṇṇāya puṇṇamāya rattiyā kevalakappā ca devā tāvatiṃsā sudhammāyaṃ sabhāyaṃ sannisinnā honti sannipatitā; mahatī ca dibbaparisā samantato nisinnā honti, cattāro ca mahārājāno catuddisā nisinnā honti; puratthimāya disāya dhataraṭṭho mahārājā pacchimābhimukho nisinno hoti deve purakkhatvā; dakkhiṇāya disāya virūḷhako mahārājā uttarābhimukho nisinno hoti deve purakkhatvā; pacchimāya disāya virūpakkho mahārājā puratthābhimukho nisinno hoti deve purakkhatvā; uttarāya disāya vessavaṇo mahārājā dakkhiṇābhimukho nisinno hoti deve purakkhatvā. Yadā bhante, kevalakappā ca devā tāvatiṃsā sudhammāyaṃ sabhāyaṃ sannisinnā honti sannipatitā, mahatī ca dibbaparisā samantato nisinnā honti, cattāro ca mahārājāno catuddisā nisinnā honti, idaṃ nesaṃ hoti āsanasmiṃ; atha pacchā amhākaṃ āsanaṃ hoti.
6‘世尊,那些在世尊座下修习梵行后,新近往生到三十三天中的天人们,他们在容貌和名声上都压过了其他的天人。因此,世尊,三十三天众感到满意、喜悦,生起欢喜与欢愉,说道:诸位确实看见,天众在充实增长,阿修罗众在减退啊!’
‘‘Ye te, bhante, devā bhagavati brahmacariyaṃ caritvā adhunūpapannā tāvatiṃsakāyaṃ, te aññe deve atirocanti vaṇṇena ceva yasasā ca. Tena sudaṃ, bhante, devā tāvatiṃsā attamanā honti pamuditā pītisomanassajātā; ‘dibbā vata, bho, kāyā paripūrenti, hāyanti asurakāyā’ti.
295‘那时,世尊,帝释天知道了三十三天众的欢喜,就用这些偈颂随喜道:’
‘‘Atha kho, bhante, sakko devānamindo devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ sampasādaṃ viditvā imāhi gāthāhi anumodi –
8「『诸位,三十三天众确实欢喜,与因陀罗一起;
‘Modanti vata bho devā, tāvatiṃsā sahindakā;
9「礼敬如来,以及法的善法性。
Tathāgataṃ namassantā, dhammassa ca sudhammataṃ.
10「看见新天人,具色、具名声;
Nave deve ca passantā, vaṇṇavante yasassine;
11「在善逝座下修习梵行后,来到此处。』
Sugatasmiṃ brahmacariyaṃ, caritvāna idhāgate.
12他们以色、名声、寿命,超越其他诸天;
Te aññe atirocanti, vaṇṇena yasasāyunā;
13广慧者的声闻弟子们,在此已达殊胜。
Sāvakā bhūripaññassa, visesūpagatā idha.
14见此之后欢喜,三十三天与因陀罗一起;
Idaṃ disvāna nandanti, tāvatiṃsā sahindakā;
15礼敬如来,以及法的善法性。
Tathāgataṃ namassantā, dhammassa ca sudhammata’nti.
16‘世尊,由于这个原因,三十三天众更加倍地感到满意、喜悦,生起欢喜与欢愉,说道:诸位确实看见,天众在充实增长,阿修罗众在减退啊!’
‘‘Tena sudaṃ , bhante, devā tāvatiṃsā bhiyyoso mattāya attamanā honti pamuditā pītisomanassajātā; ‘dibbā vata, bho, kāyā paripūrenti, hāyanti asurakāyā’’’ti.
17八种如实赞
Aṭṭha yathābhuccavaṇṇā
296「尊者,那时,帝释天知道三十三天的净信后,对三十三天说:『诸位尊者,你们想听闻那位世尊的八种如实赞叹吗?』『尊者,我们想听闻那位世尊的八种如实赞叹。』尊者,那时,帝释天对三十三天宣说世尊的八种如实赞叹:『尊敬的三十三天诸位,你们认为如何?那位世尊已为众人的利益而行,为众人的快乐,为世间的悲悯,为天人的义利、利益、快乐。如此为众人的利益而行,为众人的快乐,为世间的悲悯,为天人的义利、利益、快乐,具备此要素的导师,我们在过去世未曾见过,现在也没有,除了那位世尊。
‘‘Atha kho, bhante, sakko devānamindo devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ sampasādaṃ viditvā deve tāvatiṃse āmantesi – ‘iccheyyātha no tumhe, mārisā, tassa bhagavato aṭṭha yathābhucce vaṇṇe sotu’nti? ‘Icchāma mayaṃ, mārisa, tassa bhagavato aṭṭha yathābhucce vaṇṇe sotu’nti. Atha kho, bhante, sakko devānamindo devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ bhagavato aṭṭha yathābhucce vaṇṇe payirudāhāsi – ‘taṃ kiṃ maññanti, bhonto devā tāvatiṃsā? Yāvañca so bhagavā bahujanahitāya paṭipanno bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ. Evaṃ bahujanahitāya paṭipannaṃ bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
19「『再者,那位世尊很好地阐明了法,这法是现证的、无时间性的、欢迎来见的、能引导向前的、智者各自应亲身体证的。像这样,能够教导如此能引导向前的法的导师,具备这一特质的导师,我们不论在过去、还是在现在,除了那位世尊之外,都找不到第二位。』
‘‘Svākkhāto kho pana tena bhagavatā dhammo sandiṭṭhiko akāliko ehipassiko opaneyyiko paccattaṃ veditabbo viññūhi. Evaṃ opaneyyikassa dhammassa desetāraṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
20「『再者,那位世尊很清楚地解说了:『这是善的』,很清楚地解说了『这是不善的』;很清楚地解说了『这是有过失的、这是无过失的,这是应修习的、这是不应修习的,这是低劣的、这是殊胜的,这是有黑法有白法相对待的。』像这样,能够清楚地解说善与不善、有过失与无过失、应修习与不应修习、低劣与殊胜、有黑有白相对待诸法的人,具备这一特质的导师,我们不论在过去、还是在现在,除了那位世尊之外,都找不到第二位。』
‘‘Idaṃ kusalanti kho pana tena bhagavatā supaññattaṃ, idaṃ akusalanti supaññattaṃ. Idaṃ sāvajjaṃ idaṃ anavajjaṃ, idaṃ sevitabbaṃ idaṃ na sevitabbaṃ, idaṃ hīnaṃ idaṃ paṇītaṃ, idaṃ kaṇhasukkasappaṭibhāganti supaññattaṃ. Evaṃ kusalākusalasāvajjānavajjasevitabbāsevitabbahīna-paṇītakaṇhasukkasappaṭibhāgānaṃ dhammānaṃ paññapetāraṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
21「『再者,那位世尊为弟子们很清楚地指明了通向涅槃的道路,这条道路与涅槃是融为一体的,道路与涅槃相合。就好像恆河的水与耶牟那河的水汇合、融合一样;同样地,那位世尊很清楚地为弟子们指明了通向涅槃的道路,这条道路与涅槃是融为一体的,道路与涅槃相合。像这样,能够指明通向涅槃道路的人,具备这一特质的导师,我们不论在过去、还是在现在,除了那位世尊之外,都找不到第二位。』」
‘‘Supaññattā kho pana tena bhagavatā sāvakānaṃ nibbānagāminī paṭipadā, saṃsandati nibbānañca paṭipadā ca. Seyyathāpi nāma gaṅgodakaṃ yamunodakena saṃsandati sameti, evameva supaññattā tena bhagavatā sāvakānaṃ nibbānagāminī paṭipadā, saṃsandati nibbānañca paṭipadā ca. Evaṃ nibbānagāminiyā paṭipadāya paññapetāraṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
22那位世尊确实是获得了利养、赢得了名声,我想连刹帝利们都满心喜爱地亲近他。而那位世尊在进食时完全没有骄慢。像这样,进食时离除骄慢——具足这一支分的导师,我们在过去未曾见过,在现在也没有见到,除了那位世尊。
‘‘Abhinipphanno kho pana tassa bhagavato lābho abhinipphanno siloko, yāva maññe khattiyā sampiyāyamānarūpā viharanti, vigatamado kho pana so bhagavā āhāraṃ āhāreti. Evaṃ vigatamadaṃ āhāraṃ āharayamānaṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
23那位世尊确实有同伴,那些同伴就是正在修学的行道者,以及已断尽烦恼、梵行已立的圣者,但世尊并不排斥他们,却乐于独自安住。像这样,乐于独自安住——具足这一支分的导师,我们在过去未曾见过,在现在也没有见到,除了那位世尊。
‘‘Laddhasahāyo kho pana so bhagavā sekhānañceva paṭipannānaṃ khīṇāsavānañca vusitavataṃ. Te bhagavā apanujja ekārāmataṃ anuyutto viharati. Evaṃ ekārāmataṃ anuyuttaṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
24那位世尊确实是怎么说的,就怎么去做;怎么做的,就怎么去说。他是如此地言行一致。像这样,行持与法相应、与法相顺——具足这一支分的导师,我们在过去未曾见过,在现在也没有见到,除了那位世尊。
‘‘Yathāvādī kho pana so bhagavā tathākārī, yathākārī tathāvādī, iti yathāvādī tathākārī, yathākārī tathāvādī. Evaṃ dhammānudhammappaṭipannaṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
25那位世尊确实已度越疑惑,断除了犹豫,志向圆满达成,一心决意于根本的梵行。像这样,度越疑惑、断除犹豫、志向圆满、决意于根本梵行——具足这一支分的导师,我们在过去未曾见过,在现在也没有见到,除了那位世尊。
‘‘Tiṇṇavicikiccho kho pana so bhagavā vigatakathaṃkatho pariyositasaṅkappo ajjhāsayaṃ ādibrahmacariyaṃ. Evaṃ tiṇṇavicikicchaṃ vigatakathaṃkathaṃ pariyositasaṅkappaṃ ajjhāsayaṃ ādibrahmacariyaṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā’ti.
297「尊者,帝释天王在三十三天众中宣说世尊之八种如实赞叹。尊者,听闻世尊之八种如实赞叹后,三十三天众更加欢喜、喜悦、生起喜与悦意。尊者,于彼处,某些天人如此说:『啊,实在,诸贤,愿四位正自觉者出现于世间并说法,如同世尊一样。那将为众人之利益、众人之安乐、悲悯世间、为天人之义利、利益与安乐。』某些天人如此说:『诸贤,且不说四位正自觉者,啊,实在,诸贤,愿三位正自觉者出现于世间并说法,如同世尊一样。那将为众人之利益、众人之安乐、悲悯世间、为天人之义利、利益与安乐。』某些天人如此说:『诸贤,且不说三位正自觉者,啊,实在,诸贤,愿二位正自觉者出现于世间并说法,如同世尊一样。那将为众人之利益、众人之安乐、悲悯世间、为天人之义利、利益与安乐。』
‘‘Ime kho, bhante, sakko devānamindo devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ bhagavato aṭṭha yathābhucce vaṇṇe payirudāhāsi. Tena sudaṃ, bhante, devā tāvatiṃsā bhiyyoso mattāya attamanā honti pamuditā pītisomanassajātā bhagavato aṭṭha yathābhucce vaṇṇe sutvā. Tatra, bhante, ekacce devā evamāhaṃsu – ‘aho vata, mārisā, cattāro sammāsambuddhā loke uppajjeyyuṃ dhammañca deseyyuṃ yathariva bhagavā. Tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussāna’nti. Ekacce devā evamāhaṃsu – ‘tiṭṭhantu, mārisā, cattāro sammāsambuddhā, aho vata, mārisā, tayo sammāsambuddhā loke uppajjeyyuṃ dhammañca deseyyuṃ yathariva bhagavā. Tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussāna’nti. Ekacce devā evamāhaṃsu – ‘tiṭṭhantu, mārisā, tayo sammāsambuddhā, aho vata, mārisā, dve sammāsambuddhā loke uppajjeyyuṃ dhammañca deseyyuṃ yathariva bhagavā. Tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussāna’nti.
298「世尊,如是说时,帝释天对三十三天众说:『诸位贤友,这是不可能的,没有机会,在一个世界界中,两位阿拉汉、正自觉者会同时出现,这是不可能的。诸位贤友,愿那位世尊少病、少恼,长久住世。那将是为了众人的利益,为了众人的快乐,为了悲悯世间,为了天人的利益、利益和快乐。』世尊,那时,三十三天众在善法堂集会、聚会所为之事,思考那件事,商议那件事之后,那四大天王也在那件事上被告知。那四大天王也在那件事上被教诫,各自站在自己的座位上,没有离开。」
‘‘Evaṃ vutte , bhante, sakko devānamindo deve tāvatiṃse etadavoca – ‘aṭṭhānaṃ kho etaṃ, mārisā, anavakāso, yaṃ ekissā lokadhātuyā dve arahanto sammāsambuddhā apubbaṃ acarimaṃ uppajjeyyuṃ, netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. Aho vata, mārisā, so bhagavā appābādho appātaṅko ciraṃ dīghamaddhānaṃ tiṭṭheyya. Tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussāna’nti. Atha kho, bhante, yenatthena devā tāvatiṃsā sudhammāyaṃ sabhāyaṃ sannisinnā honti sannipatitā, taṃ atthaṃ cintayitvā taṃ atthaṃ mantayitvā vuttavacanāpi taṃ cattāro mahārājāno tasmiṃ atthe honti. Paccānusiṭṭhavacanāpi taṃ cattāro mahārājāno tasmiṃ atthe honti, sakesu sakesu āsanesu ṭhitā avipakkantā.
28「彼等已受教言之诸王,接受教诫;」
Te vuttavākyā rājāno, paṭiggayhānusāsaniṃ;
29心清净、寂静,他们各自坐在座位上。
Vippasannamanā santā, aṭṭhaṃsu samhi āsaneti.
299大德,就在这时,从北方生起了一片广大庄严的光芒,显现出远胜过诸天自身的光辉。大德,于是天帝释告诉三十三天众说:‘诸位贤友,根据所出现的征兆来看,当广大光芒生起,光辉显现时,就是梵天要出现了。这就是梵天即将出现的预兆,也就是光芒生起,光辉显现。’
‘‘Atha kho, bhante, uttarāya disāya uḷāro āloko sañjāyi, obhāso pāturahosi atikkammeva devānaṃ devānubhāvaṃ. Atha kho, bhante, sakko devānamindo deve tāvatiṃse āmantesi – ‘yathā kho, mārisā, nimittāni dissanti, uḷāro āloko sañjāyati, obhāso pātubhavati , brahmā pātubhavissati; brahmuno hetaṃ pubbanimittaṃ pātubhāvāya, yadidaṃ āloko sañjāyati obhāso pātubhavatīti.
31『如所见的征兆,梵天将出现;
‘Yathā nimittā dissanti, brahmā pātubhavissati;
32这是梵天的征兆,广大殊胜的光辉。』
Brahmuno hetaṃ nimittaṃ, obhāso vipulo mahā’ti.

300大德,于是,三十三天众各自坐在自己的座位上,心想:‘我们先来弄清楚这光相会有什么结果,等亲眼证实了之后再去吧。’四大天王也各自坐在自己的座位上,心想:‘我们先来弄清楚这光相会有什么结果,等亲眼证实了之后再去吧。’听到这情况后,三十三天众都变得心意专一,静待结果,心想:‘我们先来弄清楚这光相会有什么结果,等亲眼证实了之后再去吧。’
‘‘Atha kho, bhante, devā tāvatiṃsā yathāsakesu āsanesu nisīdiṃsu – ‘obhāsametaṃ ñassāma, yaṃvipāko bhavissati, sacchikatvāva naṃ gamissāmā’ti. Cattāropi mahārājāno yathāsakesu āsanesu nisīdiṃsu – ‘obhāsametaṃ ñassāma, yaṃvipāko bhavissati, sacchikatvāva naṃ gamissāmā’ti. Idaṃ sutvā devā tāvatiṃsā ekaggā samāpajjiṃsu – ‘obhāsametaṃ ñassāma, yaṃvipāko bhavissati, sacchikatvāva naṃ gamissāmā’ti.
36「世尊,当梵天萨南咖玛拉向三十三天众显现时,他化作粗显的身体后才显现。世尊,梵天的本来色相,三十三天众的眼界无法承受。世尊,当梵天萨南咖玛拉向三十三天众显现时,他以色相和名声超越其他天人。世尊,譬如金色的身躯超越人的身躯,同样地,世尊,当梵天萨南咖玛拉向三十三天众显现时,他以色相和名声超越其他天人。世尊,当梵天萨南咖玛拉向三十三天众显现时,在那个集会中,没有任何天人向他礼敬、起立或以座位邀请。所有天人都保持沉默,合掌,盘腿而坐,心想:『现在梵天萨南咖玛拉想要坐在哪位天人的座位上,就会坐在那位天人的座位上。』世尊,梵天萨南咖玛拉坐在哪位天人的座位上,那位天人就获得殊胜的喜悦,那位天人就获得殊胜的欢喜。世尊,譬如刹帝利灌顶王刚刚登上王位,同样地,世尊,梵天萨南咖玛拉坐在哪位天人的座位上,那位天人就获得殊胜的喜悦,那位天人就获得殊胜的欢喜。世尊,那时,梵天萨南咖玛拉知道三十三天众的净信后,隐没,以这些偈颂随喜:」
‘‘Yadā, bhante, brahmā sanaṅkumāro devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ pātubhavati, oḷārikaṃ attabhāvaṃ abhinimminitvā pātubhavati. Yo kho pana, bhante, brahmuno pakativaṇṇo, anabhisambhavanīyo so devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ cakkhupathasmiṃ. Yadā, bhante, brahmā sanaṅkumāro devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ pātubhavati, so aññe deve atirocati vaṇṇena ceva yasasā ca. Seyyathāpi, bhante, sovaṇṇo viggaho mānusaṃ viggahaṃ atirocati, evameva kho, bhante, yadā brahmā sanaṅkumāro devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ pātubhavati, so aññe deve atirocati vaṇṇena ceva yasasā ca. Yadā, bhante, brahmā sanaṅkumāro devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ pātubhavati, na tassaṃ parisāyaṃ koci devo abhivādeti vā paccuṭṭheti vā āsanena vā nimanteti. Sabbeva tuṇhībhūtā pañjalikā pallaṅkena nisīdanti – ‘yassadāni devassa pallaṅkaṃ icchissati brahmā sanaṅkumāro, tassa devassa pallaṅke nisīdissatī’ti. Yassa kho pana, bhante, devassa brahmā sanaṅkumāro pallaṅke nisīdati, uḷāraṃ so labhati devo vedapaṭilābhaṃ, uḷāraṃ so labhati devo somanassapaṭilābhaṃ . Seyyathāpi, bhante, rājā khattiyo muddhāvasitto adhunābhisitto rajjena, evameva kho, bhante, yassa devassa brahmā sanaṅkumāro pallaṅke nisīdati, uḷāraṃ so labhati devo vedapaṭilābhaṃ, uḷāraṃ so labhati devo somanassapaṭilābhaṃ. Atha, bhante, brahmā sanaṅkumāro devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ sampasādaṃ viditvā antarahito imāhi gāthāhi anumodi –
37『诸天确实欢喜,三十三天众与帝释天一起;
‘Modanti vata bho devā, tāvatiṃsā sahindakā;
38礼敬如来,以及法的善法性。』
Tathāgataṃ namassantā, dhammassa ca sudhammataṃ.
39「看见新的诸天,具色、具名声,
‘Nave deve ca passantā, vaṇṇavante yasassine;
40在善逝处修梵行后,来到此处。
Sugatasmiṃ brahmacariyaṃ, caritvāna idhāgate.
41「他们以色、名声、寿命,超越其他诸天,
‘Te aññe atirocanti, vaṇṇena yasasāyunā;
42广慧者的诸弟子,在此处已达殊胜。
Sāvakā bhūripaññassa, visesūpagatā idha.
43「见此后,三十三天与因陀罗一起欢喜,
‘Idaṃ disvāna nandanti, tāvatiṃsā sahindakā;
44礼敬如来,以及法的善法性。」
Tathāgataṃ namassantā, dhammassa ca sudhammata’nti.
301「尊者,梵天沙那库玛拉说了此义。尊者,当梵天沙那库玛拉说此义时,其声音具足八支——清晰、可了知、悦耳、可听、圆润、不散乱、深沉、有回响。尊者,梵天沙那库玛拉以声音使会众了知,但其声音不传出会众之外。尊者,凡具足如此八支声音者,被称为『梵音』。尊者,那时,三十三天对梵天沙那库玛拉说此——『善哉,大梵天,我们仅因此而欢喜;而且帝释天王已说了世尊的八种如实赞叹;我们也因此而欢喜。』
‘‘Imamatthaṃ, bhante, brahmā sanaṅkumāro abhāsittha. Imamatthaṃ, bhante , brahmuno sanaṅkumārassa bhāsato aṭṭhaṅgasamannāgato saro hoti vissaṭṭho ca viññeyyo ca mañju ca savanīyo ca bindu ca avisārī ca gambhīro ca ninnādī ca. Yathāparisaṃ kho pana, bhante, brahmā sanaṅkumāro sarena viññāpeti, na cassa bahiddhā parisāya ghoso niccharati. Yassa kho pana, bhante, evaṃ aṭṭhaṅgasamannāgato saro hoti, so vuccati ‘brahmassaro’ti. Atha kho, bhante, devā tāvatiṃsā brahmānaṃ sanaṅkumāraṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘sādhu, mahābrahme, etadeva mayaṃ saṅkhāya modāma; atthi ca sakkena devānamindena tassa bhagavato aṭṭha yathābhuccā vaṇṇā bhāsitā; te ca mayaṃ saṅkhāya modāmā’ti.

302「大德,于是,常童子梵天对帝释天说:『好啊,天王,我也想听闻那位世尊真实的八种功德。』大德,帝释天回答说:『好的,大梵天。』随即,他就向常童子梵天宣说了世尊真实的八种功德。」
‘‘Atha , bhante, brahmā sanaṅkumāro sakkaṃ devānamindaṃ etadavoca – ‘sādhu, devānaminda, mayampi tassa bhagavato aṭṭha yathābhucce vaṇṇe suṇeyyāmā’ti. ‘Evaṃ mahābrahme’ti kho, bhante, sakko devānamindo brahmuno sanaṅkumārassa bhagavato aṭṭha yathābhucce vaṇṇe payirudāhāsi.
48「『尊贵的大梵天,您认为呢?那位世尊是为了众多人的利益、为了众多人的安乐、出于对世间的悲悯,为了人天的福祉、利益与安乐而修行的。像这样,为了众多人的利益、为了众多人的安乐、出于对世间的悲悯,为了人天的福祉、利益与安乐而修行,具备这一特质的导师,我们不论在过去、还是在现在,除了那位世尊之外,都找不到第二位。』
‘‘Taṃ kiṃ maññati, bhavaṃ mahābrahmā? Yāvañca so bhagavā bahujanahitāya paṭipanno bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ. Evaṃ bahujanahitāya paṭipannaṃ bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
49「那位世尊所善说的法是自见的、无时的、来见的、可引导的、智者应各自了知的。如此说示可引导之法的、具备此特质的导师,我们在过去既未见过,现在也未见,除了那位世尊。」
‘‘Svākkhāto kho pana tena bhagavatā dhammo sandiṭṭhiko akāliko ehipassiko opaneyyiko paccattaṃ veditabbo viññūhi. Evaṃ opaneyyikassa dhammassa desetāraṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
50「那位世尊善加施设了『此是善』、『此是不善』、『此是有罪的、此是无罪的,此应亲近、此不应亲近,此是低劣的、此是殊胜的,此是黑白相对的』。如此能施设善与不善、有罪与无罪、应亲近与不应亲近、低劣与殊胜、黑白相对诸法的导师,具备这样特质的导师,我们在过去未曾见过,如今亦未曾见,除了那位世尊之外。」
‘‘Idaṃ kusala’nti kho pana tena bhagavatā supaññattaṃ, ‘idaṃ akusala’nti supaññattaṃ, ‘idaṃ sāvajjaṃ idaṃ anavajjaṃ, idaṃ sevitabbaṃ idaṃ na sevitabbaṃ, idaṃ hīnaṃ idaṃ paṇītaṃ, idaṃ kaṇhasukkasappaṭibhāga’nti supaññattaṃ. Evaṃ kusalākusalasāvajjānavajjasevitabbāsevitabbahīnapaṇītakaṇhasukkasappaṭibhāgānaṃ dhammānaṃ paññāpetāraṃ. Imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
51「那位世尊为弟子们善施设了导向涅槃之道,涅槃与道相合。犹如恒河之水与亚穆那河之水相合、会合,同样地,那位世尊为弟子们善施设了导向涅槃之道,涅槃与道相合。如此施设导向涅槃之道的、具备此特质的导师,我们在过去既未见过,现在也未见,除了那位世尊。」
‘‘Supaññattā kho pana tena bhagavatā sāvakānaṃ nibbānagāminī paṭipadā saṃsandati nibbānañca paṭipadā ca. Seyyathāpi nāma gaṅgodakaṃ yamunodakena saṃsandati sameti, evameva supaññattā tena bhagavatā sāvakānaṃ nibbānagāminī paṭipadā saṃsandati nibbānañca paṭipadā ca. Evaṃ nibbānagāminiyā paṭipadāya paññāpetāraṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
52「那位世尊已获得利养,已获得名声,乃至刹帝利们以亲爱之态而住。然而那位世尊离慢而食用食物。如此离慢而食用食物的、具备此特质的导师,我们在过去既未见过,现在也未见,除了那位世尊。」
‘‘Abhinipphanno kho pana tassa bhagavato lābho abhinipphanno siloko, yāva maññe khattiyā sampiyāyamānarūpā viharanti. Vigatamado kho pana so bhagavā āhāraṃ āhāreti. Evaṃ vigatamadaṃ āhāraṃ āharayamānaṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
53「那位世尊已得伴侣,即有学的行道者们与漏尽的已作所作者们,世尊舍弃他们而专注于独住之乐而住。如此专注于独住之乐的、具备此特质的导师,我们在过去既未见过,现在也未见,除了那位世尊。」
‘‘Laddhasahāyo kho pana so bhagavā sekhānañceva paṭipannānaṃ khīṇāsavānañca vusitavataṃ, te bhagavā apanujja ekārāmataṃ anuyutto viharati. Evaṃ ekārāmataṃ anuyuttaṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
54「那位世尊如其所说而行,如其所行而说;如此,如其所说而行,如其所行而说。如此随法而行的、具备此特质的导师,我们在过去既未见过,现在也未见,除了那位世尊。」
‘‘Yathāvādī kho pana so bhagavā tathākārī, yathākārī tathāvādī; iti yathāvādī tathākārī, yathākārī tathāvādī. Evaṃ dhammānudhammappaṭippannaṃ imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā.
55「那位世尊已度疑,已离犹豫,已完成志向,已达意向,已至根本梵行。如此已度疑、已离犹豫、已完成志向、已达意向、已至根本梵行的、具备此特质的导师,我们在过去既未见过,现在也未见,除了那位世尊。」
‘‘Tiṇṇavicikiccho kho pana so bhagavā vigatakathaṃkatho pariyositasaṅkappo ajjhāsayaṃ ādibrahmacariyaṃ . Evaṃ tiṇṇavicikicchaṃ vigatakathaṃkathaṃ pariyositasaṅkappaṃ ajjhāsayaṃ ādibrahmacariyaṃ. Imināpaṅgena samannāgataṃ satthāraṃ neva atītaṃse samanupassāma, na panetarahi, aññatra tena bhagavatā’ti.
303大德!帝释天就是这样向常童子梵天宣说了世尊真实不虚的八种功德。大德!常童子梵天听到世尊的这八种真实功德后,内心欢喜、愉悦,生起了喜乐。接着,大德!常童子梵天变化出一个粗显的身相,示现为童子的模样,以五髻的身份显现在三十三天众面前。他腾空而起,在虚空中以结跏趺坐端坐。大德!就像一位大力士在铺好的座垫上或平坦的地面上结跏趺坐,常童子梵天就如那般腾空而起,在虚空中结跏趺坐后,对三十三天众说道:
‘‘Ime kho, bhante, sakko devānamindo brahmuno sanaṅkumārassa bhagavato aṭṭha yathābhucce vaṇṇe payirudāhāsi. Tena sudaṃ, bhante, brahmā sanaṅkumāro attamano hoti pamudito pītisomanassajāto bhagavato aṭṭha yathābhucce vaṇṇe sutvā. Atha, bhante, brahmā sanaṅkumāro oḷārikaṃ attabhāvaṃ abhinimminitvā kumāravaṇṇī hutvā pañcasikho devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ pāturahosi . So vehāsaṃ abbhuggantvā ākāse antalikkhe pallaṅkena nisīdi. Seyyathāpi, bhante, balavā puriso supaccatthate vā pallaṅke same vā bhūmibhāge pallaṅkena nisīdeyya, evameva kho, bhante, brahmā sanaṅkumāro vehāsaṃ abbhuggantvā ākāse antalikkhe pallaṅkena nisīditvā deve tāvatiṃse āmantesi –

304「诸位三十三天尊者们认为如何?那位世尊长久以来就是大慧者。尊者们,过去有一位名叫地散巴帝的国王。地散巴帝王有一位名叫果文达的婆罗门国师。地散巴帝王有一位名叫雷奴的王子。果文达婆罗门有一位名叫揪帝巴喇的学童儿子。如此,雷奴王子、揪帝巴喇学童以及其他六位刹帝利,这八人成为朋友。尊者们,然后,随着日夜的过去,果文达婆罗门死了。果文达婆罗门死后,地散巴帝王悲泣道:『尊者们,当我们将一切事务完全托付给果文达婆罗门,自己具足、具备五种欲功德而享用时,在那时候,果文达婆罗门死了。』如是说时,尊者,雷奴王子对地散巴帝王如此说道:『天王,果文达婆罗门死后,您不要过度悲泣。天王,果文达婆罗门有一位名叫揪帝巴喇的学童儿子,比父亲更有智慧,比父亲更能见义理;他父亲所教导的义理,也应由揪帝巴喇学童来教导。』『王子,是这样吗?』『天王,是这样。』」
‘‘Taṃ kiṃ maññanti, bhonto devā tāvatiṃsā, yāva dīgharattaṃ mahāpaññova so bhagavā ahosi. Bhūtapubbaṃ, bho, rājā disampati nāma ahosi. Disampatissa rañño govindo nāma brāhmaṇo purohito ahosi. Disampatissa rañño reṇu nāma kumāro putto ahosi. Govindassa brāhmaṇassa jotipālo nāma māṇavo putto ahosi. Iti reṇu ca rājaputto jotipālo ca māṇavo aññe ca cha khattiyā iccete aṭṭha sahāyā ahesuṃ. Atha kho, bho, ahorattānaṃ accayena govindo brāhmaṇo kālamakāsi. Govinde brāhmaṇe kālaṅkate rājā disampati paridevesi – ‘‘yasmiṃ vata, bho, mayaṃ samaye govinde brāhmaṇe sabbakiccāni sammā vossajjitvā pañcahi kāmaguṇehi samappitā samaṅgībhūtā paricārema, tasmiṃ no samaye govindo brāhmaṇo kālaṅkato’’ti. Evaṃ vutte bho reṇu rājaputto rājānaṃ disampatiṃ etadavoca – ‘‘mā kho tvaṃ, deva, govinde brāhmaṇe kālaṅkate atibāḷhaṃ paridevesi. Atthi, deva, govindassa brāhmaṇassa jotipālo nāma māṇavo putto paṇḍitataro ceva pitarā, alamatthadasataro ceva pitarā; yepissa pitā atthe anusāsi, tepi jotipālasseva māṇavassa anusāsaniyā’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ kumārā’’ti? ‘‘Evaṃ devā’’ti.

305那时,各位,灯光王召来一位仆人,吩咐他说:‘来,你这个人哪,去那位名叫光护的青年的所在处;到了以后,这样对光护青年说:愿光护尊者吉祥,灯光王召唤光护尊者,灯光王想见一见光护尊者。’‘好的,陛下。’各位,那位仆人答应了灯光王后,便前往光护青年所在的地方;到了以后,对光护青年这样说道:‘愿光护尊者吉祥,灯光王召唤光护尊者,灯光王想见一见光护尊者。’‘好的,先生。’各位,光护青年答应了那位仆人后,就去见灯光王。见面后,他和灯光王互相问候,说了一番亲切友好的话,然后在一边坐下。各位,灯光王对坐在一边的光护青年这样说道:‘请光护尊者教导我们,请不要拒绝给予我们教诲。我将把你安置在你父亲的位置上,将册立你为大典尊。’‘好的,先生。’各位,光护青年回答了灯光王。于是,各位,灯光王册立光护青年为大典尊,把他安置在了他父亲的位置上。被册立为‘大典尊’、安置在父亲位置上的光护青年,他父亲曾经指导过的事务,他也同样指导;他父亲不曾指导过的事务,他也加以指导。他父亲曾经管理过的政务,他也同样管理;他父亲不曾管理过的政务,他也加以管理。于是人们都这样说:‘这位婆罗门可真是典尊啊,这位婆罗门可真是大典尊啊!’各位,就是通过这种方式,光护青年得到了‘典尊、大典尊’的称号。
‘‘Atha kho, bho, rājā disampati aññataraṃ purisaṃ āmantesi – ‘‘ehi tvaṃ, ambho purisa, yena jotipālo nāma māṇavo tenupasaṅkama; upasaṅkamitvā jotipālaṃ māṇavaṃ evaṃ vadehi – ‘bhavamatthu bhavantaṃ jotipālaṃ, rājā disampati bhavantaṃ jotipālaṃ māṇavaṃ āmantayati, rājā disampati bhoto jotipālassa māṇavassa dassanakāmo’’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ, devā’’ti kho, bho, so puriso disampatissa rañño paṭissutvā yena jotipālo māṇavo tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā jotipālaṃ māṇavaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘bhavamatthu bhavantaṃ jotipālaṃ, rājā disampati bhavantaṃ jotipālaṃ māṇavaṃ āmantayati , rājā disampati bhoto jotipālassa māṇavassa dassanakāmo’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ, bho’’ti kho bho jotipālo māṇavo tassa purisassa paṭissutvā yena rājā disampati tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā disampatinā raññā saddhiṃ sammodi; sammodanīyaṃ kathaṃ sāraṇīyaṃ vītisāretvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinnaṃ kho, bho, jotipālaṃ māṇavaṃ rājā disampati etadavoca – ‘‘anusāsatu no bhavaṃ jotipālo, mā no bhavaṃ jotipālo anusāsaniyā paccabyāhāsi. Pettike taṃ ṭhāne ṭhapessāmi, govindiye abhisiñcissāmī’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ, bho’’ti kho, bho, so jotipālo māṇavo disampatissa rañño paccassosi. Atha kho, bho, rājā disampati jotipālaṃ māṇavaṃ govindiye abhisiñci, taṃ pettike ṭhāne ṭhapesi. Abhisitto jotipālo māṇavo govindiye pettike ṭhāne ṭhapito yepissa pitā atthe anusāsi tepi atthe anusāsati, yepissa pitā atthe nānusāsi, tepi atthe anusāsati; yepissa pitā kammante abhisambhosi, tepi kammante abhisambhoti, yepissa pitā kammante nābhisambhosi, tepi kammante abhisambhoti. Tamenaṃ manussā evamāhaṃsu – ‘‘govindo vata, bho, brāhmaṇo, mahāgovindo vata, bho, brāhmaṇo’’ti. Iminā kho evaṃ, bho, pariyāyena jotipālassa māṇavassa govindo mahāgovindotveva samaññā udapādi.

306然后,各位!大典尊婆罗门又去拜访了那六位刹帝利。到了之后,他对那六位刹帝利这样说:'朋友们!关于我,有这样一个很好的名声传开了:'大典尊婆罗门能亲眼见到梵天,能亲自和梵天交谈、对话、讨论。'然而,朋友们!我并没有见到梵天,没有和梵天交谈,没有和梵天对话,没有和梵天讨论。不过,我曾听那些年长的、德高望重的、师祖辈的婆罗门们说过:'在雨季的这四个月里,谁要是独处静修,修习悲心禅那,他就能见到梵天,和梵天交谈,和梵天对话,和梵天讨论。'朋友们!我想在雨季的这四个月里独处静修,修习悲心禅那。除了一个送饭的人之外,请不要让任何人来拜访我。'他们回答说:'尊者您就按照您觉得合适的时间去做吧。'
‘‘Atha kho, bho, mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo yena te cha khattiyā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā te cha khattiye etadavoca – ‘‘disampati kho, bho, rājā jiṇṇo vuddho mahallako addhagato vayoanuppatto, ko nu kho pana, bho, jānāti jīvitaṃ? Ṭhānaṃ kho panetaṃ vijjati, yaṃ disampatimhi raññe kālaṅkate rājakattāro reṇuṃ rājaputtaṃ rajje abhisiñceyyuṃ. Āyantu, bhonto, yena reṇu rājaputto tenupasaṅkamatha; upasaṅkamitvā reṇuṃ rājaputtaṃ evaṃ vadetha – ‘‘mayaṃ kho bhoto reṇussa sahāyā piyā manāpā appaṭikūlā, yaṃsukho bhavaṃ taṃsukhā mayaṃ, yaṃdukkho bhavaṃ taṃdukkhā mayaṃ. Disampati kho, bho, rājā jiṇṇo vuddho mahallako addhagato vayoanuppatto, ko nu kho pana, bho, jānāti jīvitaṃ? 307那时候,各位,不久之后,灯光王去世了。在灯光王去世后,负责继位事务的大臣们册立了雷努王子继位为王。被册立登基的雷努王,充分地享受和具足了五种感官欲乐。那时,各位,大典尊婆罗门就去见那六位刹帝利;到了以后,对那六位刹帝利这样说道:‘各位,灯光王已经去世了。雷努已经被册立为王,他正充分地享受和具足五种感官欲乐。各位,谁知道呢,感官欲乐是会让人迷醉的啊!来吧,各位尊者,我们去见雷努王;到了以后,这样对雷努王说:“各位,灯光王已经去世,雷努尊者您已被册立为王。尊者您还记得以前说过的话吗?”’

Atha kho, bho, mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo yena te cha khattiyā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā te cha khattiye etadavoca – ‘‘disampati kho, bho, rājā kālaṅkato. Abhisitto reṇu rajjena pañcahi kāmaguṇehi samappito samaṅgībhūto paricāreti. Ko nu kho pana, bho, jānāti, madanīyā kāmā? Āyantu, bhonto, yena reṇu rājā tenupasaṅkamatha; upasaṅkamitvā reṇuṃ rājānaṃ evaṃ vadetha – disampati kho, bho, rājā kālaṅkato, abhisitto bhavaṃ reṇu rajjena, sarati bhavaṃ taṃ vacana’’’nti?
308‘好的,先生。’各位,那六位刹帝利答应对大典尊婆罗门后,就去见了雷努王;见面后,他们对雷努王这样说道:‘各位,灯光王已经去世,雷努尊者您已被册立为王。尊者您还记得以前说过的话吗?’‘诸位,我记得那话。可是,各位,谁有能力把这片北方宽阔、南方如车头形的广袤大地,平均地划分为七等份呢?’‘各位,除了大典尊婆罗门,还有谁能有此能力呢?’于是,各位,雷努王召来一位仆人,吩咐他说:‘来,你这个人哪,去大典尊婆罗门那里;到了以后,对大典尊婆罗门这样说:“尊者,雷努王召唤您。”’‘好的,陛下。’各位,那位仆人答应了雷努王后,就去见大典尊婆罗门;到了以后,对大典尊婆罗门这样说道:‘尊者,雷努王召唤您。’‘好的,先生。’各位,大典尊婆罗门答应了那个仆人后,就去见雷努王。见面后,他和雷努王互相问候,说了一番亲切友好的话,然后在一边坐下。各位,雷努王对坐在一边的大典尊婆罗门这样说道:‘来吧,典尊尊者,请把这片北方宽阔、南方如车头形的广袤大地,平均地划分为七等份吧。’‘好的,先生。’大典尊婆罗门答应了雷努王后,就把这片北方宽阔、南方如车头形的广袤大地,平均地划分成了七等份。所有的划分都以车头形的边界线为准,其中,雷努王的国土在正中央。
‘‘‘Evaṃ , bho’’ti kho, bho, te cha khattiyā mahāgovindassa brāhmaṇassa paṭissutvā yena reṇu rājā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā reṇuṃ rājānaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘disampati kho, bho, rājā kālaṅkato, abhisitto bhavaṃ reṇu rajjena, sarati bhavaṃ taṃ vacana’’nti? ‘‘Sarāmahaṃ, bho, taṃ vacanaṃ . 311那时,诸贤,那六位刹帝利去到大果文达婆罗门处;去到后,对大果文达婆罗门这样说:「正如尊者果文达是雷奴王的亲爱的、可意的、不违逆的朋友。同样地,尊者果文达也是我们的亲爱的、可意的、不违逆的朋友,愿尊者果文达教诫我们;愿尊者果文达不要拒绝教诫我们。」「是的,诸贤。」大果文达婆罗门应诺了那六位刹帝利。那时,诸贤,大果文达婆罗门教诫了七位刹帝利灌顶王,使他们在王国中,并使七位婆罗门大富豪和七百位净行者学习诸咒。
‘‘Atha kho, bho, te cha khattiyā yena mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā mahāgovindaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘yathā kho bhavaṃ govindo reṇussa rañño sahāyo piyo manāpo appaṭikūlo. 312后来,各位!过了一段时间,关于大典尊婆罗门,有这样一个很好的名声传开了:'大典尊婆罗门能亲眼见到梵天,能亲自和梵天交谈、对话、讨论。'这时,各位!大典尊婆罗门心里想:'关于我,有这样一个很好的名声传开了:'大典尊婆罗门能亲眼见到梵天,能亲自和梵天交谈、对话、讨论。'然而,我并没有见到梵天,没有和梵天交谈,没有和梵天对话,没有和梵天讨论。不过,我曾听那些年长的、德高望重的、师祖辈的婆罗门们说过:'在雨季的这四个月里,谁要是独处静修,修习悲心禅那,他就能见到梵天,和梵天交谈,和梵天对话,和梵天讨论。'那我何不在雨季的这四个月里独处静修,修习悲心禅那呢?'

313“于是,大典尊婆罗门就去见灯光王之子。见面后,他对灯光王之子说:‘大王,请您另找一位国师吧,好让他来辅佐您治理国家。我自己呢,想要舍弃在家生活出家去了。因为我听了梵天所说的关于‘腐臭’的道理后明白,对于一个在家人来说,那些腐臭是很难克服的。所以,我要从在家生活中出家去了。’

315““那时,尊敬的先生,大典尊婆罗门便去找那七位婆罗门富豪和七百位已沐浴的弟子。到了之后,就对那七位婆罗门富豪和七百位已沐浴的弟子说:‘各位,现在请你们去寻找另一位老师,让他为你们教授咒语吧。尊敬的先生,我想舍弃俗家,从在家生活出家,过无家的生活了。因为正如我所听闻梵天在讲述“腥秽”时所说的那样,住在俗家是很难圆满修习梵行的。尊敬的先生,我将舍弃俗家,从在家生活出家,过无家的生活。’‘请典尊大人不要舍弃俗家出家。尊敬的先生,出家是少威力、少利益的;而婆罗门教是具大威力、大利益的啊。’‘请不要这样说——‘出家是少威力、少利益的,而婆罗门教是具大威力、大利益的’。尊敬的先生,除了我之外,还有谁比我更具大威力和大利益呢!尊敬的先生,如今,对于国王们来说,我就像一位国王;对于婆罗门们来说,我就像梵天;对于居士们来说,我就像天神。这一切我都将舍弃,从在家生活出家,成为无家者。正如我所听闻梵天在讲述“腥秽”时所说的那样,住在俗家是很难圆满修习梵行的。尊敬的先生,我将舍弃俗家,从在家生活出家,过无家的生活。’‘如果典尊大人舍弃俗家出家,我们也将舍弃俗家,从在家生活出家,成为无家者。那时,您的去处,也就是我们的去处。’

316““那时,尊敬的先生,大典尊婆罗门便去找他的四十位同等地位的妻子。到了之后,就对那四十位同等地位的妻子说:‘诸位夫人中,若有愿意的,可以回到自己的亲族家,或者去寻找另一位丈夫。诸位夫人,我想舍弃俗家,从在家生活出家,过无家的生活了。因为正如我所听闻梵天在讲述“腥秽”时所说的那样,住在俗家是很难圆满修习梵行的。诸位夫人,我将舍弃俗家,从在家生活出家,过无家的生活。’‘对于渴望亲族的人来说,您就是我们的亲族;对于渴望丈夫的人来说,您就是我们的丈夫。如果典尊大人舍弃俗家出家,我们也舍弃俗家,从在家生活出家,成为无家者。那时,您的去处,也就是我们的去处。’

317“话说,大典尊婆罗门在城东建了一座新的斋堂,在雨季的四个月里,他就在里面隐居禅修,专修悲心禅。那时候,除了一个送饭的人,没有任何人去打扰他。可是,当那四个月结束后,大典尊婆罗门心里却生起了厌烦和不安,他心想:‘我曾听那些年长、德高望重的婆罗门祖辈们说过,谁若在雨季四个月里隐居专修悲心禅,就能见到梵天,能跟梵天交谈、对话、讨论。可是,我并没有见到梵天,没有跟梵天交谈、对话、讨论啊。’
‘‘Atha kho, bho, mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo puratthimena nagarassa navaṃ sandhāgāraṃ kārāpetvā vassike cattāro māse paṭisallīyi, karuṇaṃ jhānaṃ jhāyi; nāssudha koci upasaṅkamati aññatra ekena bhattābhihārena. 318“就在这时,常童子梵天用他的心力感知到了大典尊婆罗门心里的想法。就像一位大力士伸展他弯曲的手臂,或者弯曲他伸展的手臂一样快,他从梵天界消失,一下子就出现在了大典尊婆罗门的面前。诸位,大典尊婆罗门一见这前所未见的形象,心里顿时感到害怕、惊惶,汗毛都竖了起来。大典尊婆罗门就这样,带着恐惧、震惊、汗毛直竖,用偈颂对常童子梵天说:
‘‘Atha kho, bho, brahmā sanaṅkumāro mahāgovindassa brāhmaṇassa cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya, pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya, evameva, brahmaloke antarahito mahāgovindassa brāhmaṇassa sammukhe pāturahosi. Atha kho, bho, mahāgovindassa brāhmaṇassa ahudeva bhayaṃ ahu chambhitattaṃ ahu lomahaṃso yathā taṃ adiṭṭhapubbaṃ rūpaṃ disvā. Atha kho, bho, mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo bhīto saṃviggo lomahaṭṭhajāto brahmānaṃ sanaṅkumāraṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
86「『具色、具名声、具吉祥,尊者,你是谁?」
‘‘‘Vaṇṇavā yasavā sirimā, ko nu tvamasi mārisa;
87「不知你者问你,我们如何知你?』」
Ajānantā taṃ pucchāma, kathaṃ jānemu taṃ maya’’nti.
88「『他们知我为童子,梵天界的常住者;」
‘‘Maṃ ve kumāraṃ jānanti, brahmaloke sanantanaṃ ;
89「诸天都认识我,果文达,你应当这样知道。」
Sabbe jānanti maṃ devā, evaṃ govinda jānahi’’.
90「座位、水、足洗水,以及梵天的蜜糖,
‘‘‘Āsanaṃ udakaṃ pajjaṃ, madhusākañca brahmuno;
91我们请问尊者供养,请尊者接受我们的供养。」
Agghe bhavantaṃ pucchāma, agghaṃ kurutu no bhavaṃ’’.
92「果文达,我们接受你所说的供养;
‘‘Paṭiggaṇhāma te agghaṃ, yaṃ tvaṃ govinda bhāsasi;
93为了现法利益,以及来世的安乐;
Diṭṭhadhammahitatthāya, samparāya sukhāya ca;
94已给予机会,你可以问任何你所希求的。」
Katāvakāso pucchassu, yaṃ kiñci abhipatthita’’nti.
319“接着,大典尊婆罗门心想:‘常童子梵天已经给了我机会。我应该向常童子梵天问什么呢?是问关于今生利益的事,还是关于来世利益的事呢?’他转念又想:‘对于今生利益的事情,我在行,而且也有别人来问我这方面的问题。不如我就只向常童子梵天请教关于来世利益的事吧。’于是,大典尊婆罗门就用偈颂向常童子梵天发问了:
‘‘Atha kho, bho, mahāgovindassa brāhmaṇassa etadahosi – ‘‘katāvakāso khomhi brahmunā sanaṅkumārena. Kiṃ nu kho ahaṃ brahmānaṃ sanaṅkumāraṃ puccheyyaṃ diṭṭhadhammikaṃ vā atthaṃ samparāyikaṃ vā’ti? Atha kho, bho, mahāgovindassa brāhmaṇassa etadahosi – ‘kusalo kho ahaṃ diṭṭhadhammikānaṃ atthānaṃ, aññepi maṃ diṭṭhadhammikaṃ atthaṃ pucchanti. Yaṃnūnāhaṃ brahmānaṃ sanaṅkumāraṃ samparāyikaññeva atthaṃ puccheyya’nti. Atha kho, bho, mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo brahmānaṃ sanaṅkumāraṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –

97对他人的感受,疑者成为无疑者;

99死者能到达不死的梵天界?
Pappoti macco amataṃ brahmaloka’’nti.
100「舍弃对人们的我所执,婆罗门啊,
‘‘Hitvā mamattaṃ manujesu brahme,
101成为独一者,从悲悯中解脱;
Ekodibhūto karuṇedhimutto ;
102无肉欲之臭,离于交媾,
Nirāmagandho virato methunasmā,
103住立于此,在此修学;
Etthaṭṭhito ettha ca sikkhamāno;
104死者能到达不死的梵天界。」

320「舍弃我所」,我了解尊者。在此,某人舍弃少量的财富积聚或舍弃大量的财富积聚,舍弃少量的亲族圈或舍弃大量的亲族圈,剃除须发,披着袈裟衣,从在家出家成为非家,如此「舍弃我所」,我了解尊者。「成为独一者」,我了解尊者。在此,某人亲近远离的住所:林野、树下、山岳、山洞、山窟、冢间、丛林、露地、草堆,如此「成为独一者」,我了解尊者。「以悲为解脱」,我了解尊者。在此,某人以与悲俱行之心遍满一方而住,如此第二方,如此第三方,如此第四方。如此,上、下、横、一切处、一切方面、一切世间,以与悲俱行之心、广大、无量、无怨、无害遍满而住。如此「以悲为解脱」,我了解尊者。但是,尊者所说的「生臭」,我不了解。
‘‘Hitvā mamatta’nti ahaṃ bhoto ājānāmi. Idhekacco appaṃ vā bhogakkhandhaṃ pahāya mahantaṃ vā bhogakkhandhaṃ pahāya appaṃ vā ñātiparivaṭṭaṃ pahāya mahantaṃ vā ñātiparivaṭṭaṃ pahāya kesamassuṃ ohāretvā kāsāyāni vatthāni acchādetvā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajati, ‘iti hitvā mamatta’nti ahaṃ bhoto ājānāmi. ‘Ekodibhūto’ti ahaṃ bhoto ājānāmi. Idhekacco vivittaṃ senāsanaṃ bhajati araññaṃ rukkhamūlaṃ pabbataṃ kandaraṃ giriguhaṃ susānaṃ vanapatthaṃ abbhokāsaṃ palālapuñjaṃ, iti ekodibhūto’ti ahaṃ bhoto ājānāmi. ‘Karuṇedhimutto’ti ahaṃ bhoto ājānāmi. Idhekacco karuṇāsahagatena cetasā ekaṃ disaṃ pharitvā viharati, tathā dutiyaṃ, tathā tatiyaṃ, tathā catutthaṃ. Iti uddhamadhotiriyaṃ sabbadhi sabbattatāya sabbāvantaṃ lokaṃ karuṇāsahagatena cetasā vipulena mahaggatena appamāṇena averena abyāpajjena pharitvā viharati. Iti ‘karuṇedhimutto’ti ahaṃ bhoto ājānāmi. Āmagandhe ca kho ahaṃ bhoto bhāsamānassa na ājānāmi.

‘‘Ke āmagandhā manujesu brahme,
107这些无智者在此请贤者说;
Ete avidvā idha brūhi dhīra;
108被什么所障碍的众生在俱卢,
Kenāvaṭā vāti pajā kurutu ,
109堕恶趣,被遮蔽梵天界?」

110「忿怒、妄语、欺诈及悭吝,
‘‘Kodho mosavajjaṃ nikati ca dubbho,
111吝啬、傲慢及嫉妒;
Kadariyatā atimāno usūyā;
112欲求、分离及恼害他人,
Icchā vivicchā paraheṭhanā ca,
113贪与嗔与醉与痴;
Lobho ca doso ca mado ca moho;
114系缚于这些者,无有喜乐之香,
Etesu yuttā anirāmagandhā,
115堕恶趣者,障蔽梵天界者。」

116“我对您所说的‘腐臭’是这样理解的:对于一个在家人来说,那些腐臭是很难克服的。尊长,我要从在家生活中出家去了。”“既然您这样想,那么,现在就是合适的时机了。”

‘‘Atha kho, bho, mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo yena reṇu rājā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā reṇuṃ rājānaṃ etadavoca – ‘‘aññaṃ dāni bhavaṃ purohitaṃ pariyesatu, yo bhoto rajjaṃ anusāsissati. Icchāmahaṃ, bho , agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajituṃ. Yathā kho pana me sutaṃ brahmuno āmagandhe bhāsamānassa, te na sunimmadayā agāraṃ ajjhāvasatā. Pabbajissāmahaṃ, bho, agārasmā anagāriya’’nti.

122「若你欲望有所不足,我将为你圆满;
‘‘Sace te ūnaṃ kāmehi, ahaṃ paripūrayāmi te;
123「谁伤害他我将阻止,我是地之军主;」
Yo taṃ hiṃsati vāremi, bhūmisenāpati ahaṃ;
124「你是父亲我是儿子,乔达摩,请勿舍弃我们。」
Tuvaṃ pitā ahaṃ putto, mā no govinda pājahi’’ .
125「我对诸欲无所缺,我没有被伤害者;」
‘‘Namatthi ūnaṃ kāmehi, hiṃsitā me na vijjati;
126「听闻非人之语后,因此我不乐于家。」
Amanussavaco sutvā, tasmāhaṃ na gahe rame’’.
127「非人是何种相貌,他对你说了什么义理;」
‘‘Amanusso kathaṃvaṇṇo, kiṃ te atthaṃ abhāsatha;
128「听闻何事后你舍弃我们,以及家中的我们全部。」

133「我信受尊者,你乔达摩所说的;
‘‘Saddahāmi ahaṃ bhoto, yaṃ tvaṃ govinda bhāsasi;
134听了非人之语,怎能说其他的呢。
Amanussavaco sutvā, kathaṃ vattetha aññathā.
135「我们将随从那位,愿乔达摩成为我们的导师;
‘‘Te taṃ anuvattissāma, satthā govinda no bhavaṃ;
136如同琉璃宝珠,无瑕、清净、明亮;
Maṇi yathā veḷuriyo, akāco vimalo subho;
137我们将如此清储食净屋行,在乔达摩的教导下。」
Evaṃ suddhā carissāma, govindassānusāsane’’ti.
138“如果典尊大人从在家生活出家,去过无家的梵行生活,那我们也会从在家生活出家,去过无家的梵行生活。那时,您所去的地方,也就是我们要去的地方。”
‘‘‘Sace bhavaṃ govindo agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajissati, mayampi agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajissāma. Atha yā te gati, sā no gati bhavissatī’’ti.

322「那时,尊者,大乔达摩婆罗门去到那六位刹帝利处;去到后,对那六位刹帝利这样说——『现在请诸位尊者寻找另一位家司祭,他将在王国中教导诸位尊者。尊者,我想要从在家出家成为非家。因为我听闻梵天说生臭之语,那些不是很容易住在家中的。尊者,我将从在家出家成为非家。』那时,尊者,那六位刹帝利退到一旁后,这样共同思考——『这些婆罗门确实贪求财富;我们何不以财富来诱导大乔达摩婆罗门呢?』他们去到大乔达摩婆罗门处后,这样说——『尊者,在这七个王国中有很多财产,从那里请尊者取走所需要的数量。』『够了,尊者,我也有很多财产,正是由于诸位尊者的恩赐。我将舍弃那一切,从在家出家成为非家。因为我听闻梵天说生臭之语,那些不是很容易住在家中的,尊者,我将从在家出家成为非家。』那时,尊者,那六位刹帝利退到一旁后,这样共同思考——『这些婆罗门确实贪求女人;我们何不以女人来诱导大乔达摩婆罗门呢?』他们去到大乔达摩婆罗门处后,这样说——『尊者,在这七个王国中有很多女人,从那里请尊者带来所需要的数量。』『够了,尊者,我也有这四十位相称的妻子。我将舍弃她们全部,从在家出家成为非家。因为我听闻梵天说生臭之语,那些不是很容易住在家中的,尊者,我将从在家出家成为非家。』」

Tamahaṃ sabbaṃ pahāya agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajissāmi. Yathā kho pana me sutaṃ brahmuno āmagandhe bhāsamānassa, te na sunimmadayā agāraṃ ajjhāvasatā, pabbajissāmahaṃ, bho, agārasmā anagāriya’’nti. 142「如果你们舍弃诸欲,凡夫在那里执着;」

143「你们应当精进,应当坚固,以忍辱力而等持。」

146“那么,典尊大人,请您等七年。七年过后,我们也会从在家生活出家,去过无家的梵行生活。那时,您所去的地方,也就是我们要去的地方。”
‘‘Tena hi bhavaṃ govindo satta vassāni āgametu. Sattannaṃ vassānaṃ accayena mayampi agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajissāma, atha yā te gati, sā no gati bhavissatī’’ti.
147「『尊者,七年太久了,我不能等待诸位尊者七年。尊者,谁知道生命呢!应当去来世,应当思考,应当作善,应当行梵行,已生者无不死。因为我听闻梵天说生臭之语,那些不是很容易住在家中的,尊者,我将从在家出家成为非家。』『那么,尊者乔达摩请等待六年……(中略)……请等待五年……请等待四年……请等待三年……请等待两年……请等待一年,一年过后,我们也将从在家出家成为非家,那么你的去处,将是我们的去处。』」

148「尊者,一年太久了,我不能等待尊者们一年。谁知道生命呢!来世应去,应思量,应作善,应行梵行,已生者无不死。正如我听闻梵天说阿玛甘德时,他们住在家中不易净化,我将从在家出家成为非家。」「那么,果文德尊者请等待七个月,七个月过后我们也将从在家出家成为非家,那么你的去处,将是我们的去处。」

149“‘尊敬的先生,七个月实在太久了,我无法等候各位七个月。尊敬的先生,谁知道生命还有多少时日呢?来世在前方等待着,应当以智慧觉知,应当行善,应当修习梵行,有生就无有不死。正如我所听闻梵天在讲述‘腥秽’时所说的那样,住在俗家是很难圆满修习梵行的。尊敬的先生,我将舍弃俗家,从在家生活出家,过无家的生活。’

150“‘那么,请典尊大人等候我们六个月……请等候五个月……请等候四个月……请等候三个月……请等候两个月……请等候一个月……请等候半个月吧。等半个月过后,我们也将舍弃俗家,从在家生活出家,成为无家者。那时,您的去处,也就是我们的去处。’
‘‘‘Tena hi bhavaṃ govindo cha māsāni āgametu…pe… pañca māsāni āgametu… cattāri māsāni āgametu… tīṇi māsāni āgametu… dve māsāni āgametu… ekaṃ māsaṃ āgametu… addhamāsaṃ āgametu, addhamāsassa accayena mayampi agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajissāma, atha yā te gati, sā no gati bhavissatī’’ti.
151「尊者,半个月太久了,我不能等待尊者们半个月。谁知道生命呢!来世应去,应思量,应作善,应行梵行,已生者无不死。正如我听闻梵天说阿玛甘德时,他们住在家中不易净化,我将从在家出家成为非家。」「那么,果文德尊者请等待七天,直到我们教导自己的儿子兄弟王权,七天过后我们也将从在家出家成为非家,那么你的去处,将是我们的去处。」「尊者,七天不久,我将等待尊者们七天。」
‘‘‘Aticiraṃ kho, bho, addhamāso, nāhaṃ sakkomi bhavante addhamāsaṃ āgametuṃ. Ko nu kho pana, bho, jānāti jīvitānaṃ! Gamanīyo samparāyo, mantāyaṃ boddhabbaṃ, kattabbaṃ kusalaṃ, caritabbaṃ brahmacariyaṃ, natthi jātassa amaraṇaṃ. Yathā kho pana me sutaṃ brahmuno āmagandhe bhāsamānassa, te na sunimmadayā agāraṃ ajjhāvasatā, pabbajissāmahaṃ, bho, agārasmā anagāriya’’nti. ‘‘Tena hi bhavaṃ govindo sattāhaṃ āgametu, yāva mayaṃ sake puttabhātaro rajjena anusāsissāma, sattāhassa accayena mayampi agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajissāma, atha yā te gati, sā no gati bhavissatī’’ti. ‘‘Na ciraṃ kho, bho, sattāhaṃ, āgamessāmahaṃ bhavante sattāha’’nti.
152婆罗门大富者等劝请

324「那时,尊者,大果文德婆罗门前往那七位婆罗门大富者和七百位沐浴者处;前往后,对那七位婆罗门大富者和七百位沐浴者这样说:『尊者们,现在请寻找另一位老师,他将为尊者们教授咒语。我想从在家出家成为非家。正如我听闻梵天说阿玛甘德时,他们住在家中不易净化,我将从在家出家成为非家。』『果文德尊者请勿从在家出家成为非家。出家,尊者,少恭敬且少利益;婆罗门身份大恭敬且大利益。』『尊者们,请勿这样说:「出家少恭敬且少利益,婆罗门身份大恭敬且大利益。」谁,尊者,除了我之外更大恭敬或更大利益呢!我,尊者,现在对诸王如王,对诸婆罗门如梵天,对诸居士如天人。我将舍弃这一切从在家出家成为非家。正如我听闻梵天说阿玛甘德时,他们住在家中不易净化。我将从在家出家成为非家。』『如果果文德尊者从在家出家成为非家,我们也将从在家出家成为非家,那么你的去处,将是我们的去处。』」
‘‘Atha kho, bho, mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo yena te satta ca brāhmaṇamahāsālā satta ca nhātakasatāni tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā te satta ca brāhmaṇamahāsāle satta ca nhātakasatāni etadavoca – ‘‘aññaṃ dāni bhavanto ācariyaṃ pariyesantu, yo bhavantānaṃ mante vācessati. Icchāmahaṃ, bho, agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajituṃ. Yathā kho pana me sutaṃ brahmuno āmagandhe bhāsamānassa. Te na sunimmadayā agāraṃ ajjhāvasatā, pabbajissāmahaṃ, bho, agārasmā anagāriya’’nti. ‘‘Mā bhavaṃ govindo agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbaji. Pabbajjā, bho, appesakkhā ca appalābhā ca; brahmaññaṃ mahesakkhañca mahālābhañcā’’ti. ‘‘Mā bhavanto evaṃ avacuttha – ‘‘pabbajjā appesakkhā ca appalābhā ca, brahmaññaṃ mahesakkhañca mahālābhañcā’’ti. Ko nu kho, bho, aññatra mayā mahesakkhataro vā mahālābhataro vā! Ahañhi, bho, etarahi rājāva raññaṃ brahmāva brāhmaṇānaṃ devatāva gahapatikānaṃ. Tamahaṃ sabbaṃ pahāya agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajissāmi. Yathā kho pana me sutaṃ brahmuno āmagandhe bhāsamānassa, te na sunimmadayā agāraṃ ajjhāvasatā. ‘‘Atha kho, bho, mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo yena cattārīsā bhariyā sādisiyo tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā cattārīsā bhariyā sādisiyo etadavoca – ‘‘yā bhotīnaṃ icchati, sakāni vā ñātikulāni gacchatu aññaṃ vā bhattāraṃ pariyesatu. Icchāmahaṃ, bhotī, agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajituṃ. Yathā kho pana me sutaṃ brahmuno āmagandhe bhāsamānassa, te na sunimmadayā agāraṃ ajjhāvasatā. Pabbajissāmahaṃ, bhotī, agārasmā anagāriya’’nti. ‘‘Tvaññeva no ñāti ñātikāmānaṃ, tvaṃ pana bhattā bhattukāmānaṃ. 326““那时,尊敬的先生,七天过后,大典尊婆罗门剃除了须发,穿上了袈裟衣,舍弃了俗家,从在家生活出家,过上了无家的生活。大典尊婆罗门出家后,那七位灌顶的刹帝利国王、七位婆罗门富豪、七百位已沐浴的弟子、四十位同等地位的妻子、以及许多刹帝利、许多婆罗门、许多居士,乃至后宫中的许多女子,也都剃除了须发,穿上了袈裟衣,跟随大典尊婆罗门出家,成为了无家者。尊敬的先生,大典尊婆罗门就这样被这群随众簇拥着,游行于各个村落、城镇和王都之间。尊敬的先生,在那个时代,每当大典尊婆罗门来到某个村落或城镇时,他对于那里的国王们就如同国王一般,对于婆罗门们就如同梵天一般,对于居士们就如同天神一般。而且,在那个时代,若有人跌倒了或被绊倒了,他们都会这样说:‘礼敬大典尊婆罗门!礼敬七位国师!’

Pabbajitaṃ pana mahāgovindaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ satta ca rājāno khattiyā muddhāvasittā satta ca brāhmaṇamahāsālā satta ca nhātakasatāni cattārīsā ca bhariyā sādisiyo anekāni ca khattiyasahassāni anekāni ca brāhmaṇasahassāni anekāni ca gahapatisahassāni anekehi ca itthāgārehi itthiyo kesamassuṃ ohāretvā kāsāyāni vatthāni acchādetvā mahāgovindaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajitaṃ anupabbajiṃsu. Tāya sudaṃ, bho, parisāya parivuto mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo gāmanigamarājadhānīsu cārikaṃ carati. Yaṃ kho pana, bho, tena samayena mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo gāmaṃ vā nigamaṃ vā upasaṅkamati, tattha rājāva hoti raññaṃ, brahmāva brāhmaṇānaṃ, devatāva gahapatikānaṃ. Tena kho pana samayena manussā khipanti vā upakkhalanti vā te evamāhaṃsu – ‘‘namatthu mahāgovindassa brāhmaṇassa, namatthu satta purohitassā’’’ti.
327“朋友,大典尊婆罗门,他以与慈俱行的心,遍满一个方向而住,同样地,第二个方向,同样地,第三个方向,同样地,第四个方向。像这样,在上、下、横向、遍及一切处、对一切众生、对包含整个世间的一切,他以与慈俱行的、广大的、崇高的、无量的、无怨恨的、无恼害的心,遍满而住。以与悲俱行的心……(中略)……以与喜俱行的心……(中略)……以与舍俱行的心,无恼害地遍满而住。并且,他为弟子们教导了导向与梵天界共住的修行之道。”
‘‘Mahāgovindo, bho, brāhmaṇo mettāsahagatena cetasā ekaṃ disaṃ pharitvā vihāsi, tathā dutiyaṃ, tathā tatiyaṃ, tathā catutthaṃ. Iti uddhamadho tiriyaṃ sabbadhi sabbattatāya sabbāvantaṃ lokaṃ mettāsahagatena cetasā vipulena mahaggatena appamāṇena averena abyāpajjena pharitvā vihāsi. Karuṇāsahagatena cetasā…pe… muditāsahagatena cetasā…pe… upekkhāsahagatena cetasā…pe… abyāpajjena pharitvā vihāsi sāvakānañca brahmalokasahabyatāya maggaṃ desesi.
328“然而,朋友,在那个时候,大典尊婆罗门的那些弟子们,凡是完全彻底地通达了他的教导的,他们在身体破裂、死后,就投生到善趣、梵天界。那些没有完全彻底通达教导的,他们在身体破裂、死后,有些就投生与他化自在天的天人们共住;有些投生与化乐天的天人们共住;有些投生与兜率天的天人们共住;有些投生与夜摩天的天人们共住;有些投生与三十三天众的天人们共住;有些投生与四大王天的天人们共住;那些成就了最下等身的,他们就成就了乾闼婆之身。朋友,像这样,所有这些善男子们的出家,确实不是空无果报的,不是徒劳的,是有成果的,是有甘露味的。”
‘‘Ye kho pana, bho, tena samayena mahāgovindassa brāhmaṇassa sāvakā sabbena sabbaṃ sāsanaṃ ājāniṃsu. Te kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā sugatiṃ brahmalokaṃ upapajjiṃsu. Ye na sabbena sabbaṃ sāsanaṃ ājāniṃsu, te kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā appekacce paranimmitavasavattīnaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjiṃsu; appekacce nimmānaratīnaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjiṃsu; appekacce tusitānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjiṃsu; appekacce yāmānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjiṃsu; appekacce tāvatiṃsānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjiṃsu; appekacce cātumahārājikānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjiṃsu; ye sabbanihīnaṃ kāyaṃ paripūresuṃ te gandhabbakāyaṃ paripūresuṃ. Iti kho, bho , sabbesaṃyeva tesaṃ kulaputtānaṃ amoghā pabbajjā ahosi avañjhā saphalā saudrayā’’’ti.
329“世尊您记得这件事吗?”“五髻,我记得。那时,我就是那位大典尊婆罗门。我为他们那些弟子教导了导向与梵天界共住的修行之道。然而,五髻,我那时的那个梵行,并不导向厌离、不导向离贪、不导向灭尽、不导向寂止、不导向证智、不导向觉悟、不导向涅槃,它仅仅只导向投生梵天界。”
‘‘Sarati taṃ bhagavā’’ti? ‘‘Sarāmahaṃ, pañcasikha. Ahaṃ tena samayena mahāgovindo brāhmaṇo ahosiṃ. Ahaṃ tesaṃ sāvakānaṃ brahmalokasahabyatāya maggaṃ desesiṃ. Taṃ kho pana me, pañcasikha, brahmacariyaṃ na nibbidāya na virāgāya na nirodhāya na upasamāya na abhiññāya na sambodhāya na nibbānāya saṃvattati, yāvadeva brahmalokūpapattiyā.
163“然而,五髻,我现在的这个梵行,则是纯粹地导向厌离、导向离贪、导向灭尽、导向寂止、导向证智、导向觉悟、导向涅槃。那么,五髻,哪个梵行是纯粹地导向厌离、导向离贪、导向灭尽、导向寂止、导向证智、导向觉悟、导向涅槃的呢?正是这个八支圣道。也就是:正见、正思惟、正语、正业、正命、正精进、正念、正定。五髻,这个梵行,就是纯粹地导向厌离、导向离贪、导向灭尽、导向寂止、导向证智、导向觉悟、导向涅槃的。”
Idaṃ kho pana me, pañcasikha, brahmacariyaṃ ekantanibbidāya virāgāya nirodhāya upasamāya abhiññāya sambodhāya nibbānāya saṃvattati. Katamañca taṃ, pañcasikha, brahmacariyaṃ ekantanibbidāya virāgāya nirodhāya upasamāya abhiññāya sambodhāya nibbānāya saṃvattati? Ayameva ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo. Seyyathidaṃ – sammādiṭṭhi sammāsaṅkappo sammāvācā sammākammanto sammāājīvo sammāvāyāmo sammāsati sammāsamādhi. Idaṃ kho taṃ, pañcasikha, brahmacariyaṃ ekantanibbidāya virāgāya nirodhāya upasamāya abhiññāya sambodhāya nibbānāya saṃvattati.
330「然而,般遮尸咖,凡是我的弟子们完全了知教诫者,他们以诸漏尽,于现法自己以证智作证、具足、住于无漏的心解脱、慧解脱;凡是未完全了知教诫者,他们以五下分结的灭尽,成为化生者,在那里般涅槃,不从那世界再来。凡是未完全了知教诫者,有些以三结的灭尽、贪嗔痴的减弱,成为一来者,只来此世间一次后将作苦的终结。凡是未完全了知教诫者,有些以三结的灭尽,成为入流者,不堕恶趣法,决定,以正觉为彼岸。如此,般遮尸咖,所有这些善男子的出家都不空、不虚、有果、有利益。」
‘‘Ye kho pana me, pañcasikha, sāvakā sabbena sabbaṃ sāsanaṃ ājānanti, te āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ cetovimuttiṃ paññāvimuttiṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharanti; ye na sabbena sabbaṃ sāsanaṃ ājānanti, te pañcannaṃ orambhāgiyānaṃ saṃyojanānaṃ parikkhayā opapātikā honti tattha parinibbāyino anāvattidhammā tasmā lokā. Ye na sabbena sabbaṃ sāsanaṃ ājānanti, appekacce tiṇṇaṃ saṃyojanānaṃ parikkhayā rāgadosamohānaṃ tanuttā sakadāgāmino honti sakideva imaṃ lokaṃ āgantvā dukkhassantaṃ karissanti . Ye na sabbena sabbaṃ sāsanaṃ ājānanti, appekacce tiṇṇaṃ saṃyojanānaṃ parikkhayā sotāpannā honti avinipātadhammā niyatā sambodhiparāyaṇā. Iti kho, pañcasikha, sabbesaṃyeva imesaṃ kulaputtānaṃ amoghā pabbajjā avañjhā saphalā saudrayā’’ti.
165世尊这样说了。乾闼婆子五髻,内心欢喜,对世尊的言说感到满意、随喜,然后他顶礼世尊,右绕之后,就在那里隐没不见了。
Idamavoca bhagavā. Attamano pañcasikho gandhabbaputto bhagavato bhāsitaṃ abhinanditvā anumoditvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā tatthevantaradhāyīti.
