2宿住相应论
Pubbenivāsapaṭisaṃyuttakathā
1如是我闻:一时,世尊住在舍卫城祇树给孤独园的咖雷利咖小屋。那时,许多比丘于午食后从托钵返回,集坐于咖雷利咖圆堂,生起与宿住相关的法义谈论——「如此宿住,如此宿住。」
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme karerikuṭikāyaṃ. Atha kho sambahulānaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ pacchābhattaṃ piṇḍapātapaṭikkantānaṃ karerimaṇḍalamāḷe sannisinnānaṃ sannipatitānaṃ pubbenivāsapaṭisaṃyuttā dhammī kathā udapādi – ‘‘itipi pubbenivāso, itipi pubbenivāso’’ti.
2世尊凭借他那清净、超越凡人的天耳,听到了这些比丘的这段谈话。于是,世尊从座位上起身,向咖雷利咖圆堂走去。到了之后,他在铺好的座位上坐下。坐好后,世尊就问那些比丘:“比丘们,你们现在聚在一起在谈论什么?你们刚才在说的话题是什么?”
Assosi kho bhagavā dibbāya sotadhātuyā visuddhāya atikkantamānusikāya tesaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ imaṃ kathāsallāpaṃ. Atha kho bhagavā uṭṭhāyāsanā yena karerimaṇḍalamāḷo tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā paññatte āsane nisīdi, nisajja kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘kāyanuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kathāya sannisinnā; kā ca pana vo antarākathā vippakatā’’ti?
5这样被问后,那些比丘回答世尊说:“尊者,就在您离开后不久,我们之间生起了这样的议论:‘朋友们,这真是不可思议,真是罕见,如来竟有这么大的神通、这么大的威力。如来竟然能忆起那些过去佛——他们已经彻底涅槃,断除了戏论,截断了流转之路,耗尽了轮转,超越了所有痛苦——忆起他们的出身……并说出:那些世尊是这样的出身……这样的解脱。’(我们接着又想:)‘朋友们,到底是因为如来自己深彻通达了这法界……才能忆起呢?还是有天神将这件事告诉了如来……才能忆起那些过去佛——忆起他们的出身、名字、族姓、寿量、双贤弟子、弟子集会,并说出:那些世尊是这样的出身,这样的名字,这样的族姓,这样的戒行,这样的法,这样的智慧,这样的住世方式,这样的解脱呢?’尊者,这就是我们还没说完的话题,那时世尊您就来了。”
Evaṃ vutte te bhikkhū bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘idha, bhante, amhākaṃ pacchābhattaṃ piṇḍapātapaṭikkantānaṃ karerimaṇḍalamāḷe sannisinnānaṃ sannipatitānaṃ pubbenivāsapaṭisaṃyuttā dhammī kathā udapādi – ‘itipi pubbenivāso itipi pubbenivāso’ti. Ayaṃ kho no, bhante, antarākathā vippakatā. Atha bhagavā anuppatto’’ti.
3“比丘们,你们想不想听我开示一场关于宿住、与法相关的谈话呢?” “世尊,现在是时候了!善逝,现在是时候了!恳请世尊开示关于宿住的法的谈话。比丘们听闻了世尊的教导后,会牢记于心的。” “那么,比丘们,仔细听,用心留意,我这就开讲了。” “好的,尊者。”那些比丘回应世尊说。世尊便这样说道:
‘‘Iccheyyātha no tumhe, bhikkhave, pubbenivāsapaṭisaṃyuttaṃ dhammiṃ kathaṃ sotu’’nti? ‘‘Etassa, bhagavā, kālo; etassa, sugata, kālo; yaṃ bhagavā pubbenivāsapaṭisaṃyuttaṃ dhammiṃ kathaṃ kareyya, bhagavato sutvā bhikkhū dhāressantī’’ti. ‘‘Tena hi, bhikkhave, suṇātha,sādhukaṃ manasi karotha, bhāsissāmī’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’ti kho te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca –
4“比丘们,就在离现在第九十一劫之前,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者出现在这世间。比丘们,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者是刹帝利种姓,出生在刹帝利家庭。比丘们,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者的族姓是憍陈如。比丘们,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者的寿命是八万岁。比丘们,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者是在巴吒厘树下证得无上正觉的。比丘们,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者有两位名叫骞荼和提舍的弟子,他们是一对最卓越的贤善弟子。比丘们,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者有过三次弟子的大集会:一次是六百八十万比丘的集会,一次是十万比丘的集会,一次是八万比丘的集会。比丘们,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者的这三次弟子集会,全部都是断尽烦恼的阿拉汉。比丘们,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者有一位名叫阿育咖的比丘侍者,是他的首席侍者。比丘们,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者的父亲是般度马国王,亲生母亲是般度马提王后。般度马国王的都城,名叫般度马提城。”
‘‘Ito so, bhikkhave, ekanavutikappe yaṃ vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho loke udapādi. Ito so, bhikkhave, ekatiṃse kappe yaṃ sikhī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho loke udapādi. Tasmiññeva kho, bhikkhave, ekatiṃse kappe vessabhū bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho loke udapādi. Imasmiññeva kho, bhikkhave, bhaddakappe kakusandho bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho loke udapādi. Imasmiññeva kho, bhikkhave, bhaddakappe koṇāgamano bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho loke udapādi. Imasmiññeva kho, bhikkhave, bhaddakappe kassapo bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho loke udapādi. Imasmiññeva kho, bhikkhave, bhaddakappe ahaṃ etarahi arahaṃ sammāsambuddho loke uppanno.
5毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,是在巴吒厘树脚下彻底觉悟。尸弃佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,是在芬陀利树脚下彻底觉悟。毗舍婆佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,是在莎罗树脚下彻底觉悟。拘留孙佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,是在尸利沙树脚下彻底觉悟。拘那含佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,是在优昙婆罗树脚下彻底觉悟。迦叶佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,是在尼拘律树脚下彻底觉悟。而我,比丘们,现在是阿拉汉、正等正觉者,是在阿说他树脚下彻底觉悟。
‘‘Vipassī, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho khattiyo jātiyā ahosi, khattiyakule udapādi. Sikhī, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho khattiyo jātiyā ahosi, khattiyakule udapādi. Vessabhū, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho khattiyo jātiyā ahosi, khattiyakule udapādi. Kakusandho, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho brāhmaṇo jātiyā ahosi, brāhmaṇakule udapādi. Koṇāgamano, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho brāhmaṇo jātiyā ahosi, brāhmaṇakule udapādi. Kassapo, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho brāhmaṇo jātiyā ahosi, brāhmaṇakule udapādi. Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, etarahi arahaṃ sammāsambuddho khattiyo jātiyā ahosiṃ, khattiyakule uppanno.
6毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,姓拘邻若。尸弃佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,姓拘邻若。毗舍婆佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,姓拘邻若。拘留孙佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,姓迦叶。拘那含佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,姓迦叶。迦叶佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,姓迦叶。而我,比丘们,现在是阿拉汉、正等正觉者,姓乔达摩。
‘‘Vipassī , bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho koṇḍañño gottena ahosi. Sikhī, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho koṇḍañño gottena ahosi. Vessabhū, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho koṇḍañño gottena ahosi. Kakusandho, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho kassapo gottena ahosi. Koṇāgamano, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho kassapo gottena ahosi. Kassapo, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho kassapo gottena ahosi. Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, etarahi arahaṃ sammāsambuddho gotamo gottena ahosiṃ.
7「比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的寿量为八万岁。比丘们,尸弃佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的寿量为七万岁。比丘们,毗舍婆佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的寿量为六万岁。比丘们,拘留孙佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的寿量为四万岁。比丘们,拘那含佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的寿量为三万岁。比丘们,迦叶佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的寿量为二万岁。比丘们,我如今寿量短少、微小而轻;长寿者百岁,或稍多一些。」
‘‘Vipassissa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa asītivassasahassāni āyuppamāṇaṃ ahosi. Sikhissa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa sattativassasahassāni āyuppamāṇaṃ ahosi. Vessabhussa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa saṭṭhivassasahassāni āyuppamāṇaṃ ahosi. Kakusandhassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa cattālīsavassasahassāni āyuppamāṇaṃ ahosi. Koṇāgamanassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa tiṃsavassasahassāni āyuppamāṇaṃ ahosi. Kassapassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa vīsativassasahassāni āyuppamāṇaṃ ahosi. Mayhaṃ, bhikkhave, etarahi appakaṃ āyuppamāṇaṃ parittaṃ lahukaṃ; yo ciraṃ jīvati, so vassasataṃ appaṃ vā bhiyyo.
8「比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者于巴嗒离树下证悟。比丘们,尸弃佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者于奔达利咖树下证悟。比丘们,毗舍婆佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者于沙罗树下证悟。比丘们,拘留孙佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者于西利沙树下证悟。比丘们,拘那含佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者于乌敦跋罗树下证悟。比丘们,迦叶佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者于尼果达树下证悟。比丘们,我如今阿拉汉、正自觉者于阿沙他树下证悟。」
‘‘Vipassī, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho pāṭaliyā mūle abhisambuddho. Sikhī, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho puṇḍarīkassa mūle abhisambuddho. Vessabhū, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho sālassa mūle abhisambuddho. Kakusandho, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho sirīsassa mūle abhisambuddho. Koṇāgamano, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho udumbarassa mūle abhisambuddho. Kassapo, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho nigrodhassa mūle abhisambuddho. Ahaṃ, bhikkhave, etarahi arahaṃ sammāsambuddho assatthassa mūle abhisambuddho.
9毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,有一对上首双贤弟子,名叫骞荼和提舍。尸弃佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,有一对上首双贤弟子,名叫阿毗浮和三婆婆。毗舍婆佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,有一对上首双贤弟子,名叫扶游和郁多摩。拘留孙佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,有一对上首双贤弟子,名叫萨尼和毗楼。拘那含佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,有一对上首双贤弟子,名叫舒槃那和郁多楼。迦叶佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,有一对上首双贤弟子,名叫提舍和婆罗婆。而我,比丘们,现在有一对上首双贤弟子,就是舍利弗和目犍连。
‘‘Vipassissa , bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa khaṇḍatissaṃ nāma sāvakayugaṃ ahosi aggaṃ bhaddayugaṃ. Sikhissa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa abhibhūsambhavaṃ nāma sāvakayugaṃ ahosi aggaṃ bhaddayugaṃ. Vessabhussa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa soṇuttaraṃ nāma sāvakayugaṃ ahosi aggaṃ bhaddayugaṃ. Kakusandhassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa vidhurasañjīvaṃ nāma sāvakayugaṃ ahosi aggaṃ bhaddayugaṃ. Koṇāgamanassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa bhiyyosuttaraṃ nāma sāvakayugaṃ ahosi aggaṃ bhaddayugaṃ. Kassapassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa tissabhāradvājaṃ nāma sāvakayugaṃ ahosi aggaṃ bhaddayugaṃ. Mayhaṃ, bhikkhave, etarahi sāriputtamoggallānaṃ nāma sāvakayugaṃ ahosi aggaṃ bhaddayugaṃ.
10「比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有三次弟子集会:一次弟子集会有六百八十万比丘,一次弟子集会有十万比丘,一次弟子集会有八万比丘。比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有这三次弟子集会,全都是诸漏尽者。」
‘‘Vipassissa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa tayo sāvakānaṃ sannipātā ahesuṃ. Eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi aṭṭhasaṭṭhibhikkhusatasahassaṃ, eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi bhikkhusatasahassaṃ, eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi asītibhikkhusahassāni. Vipassissa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa ime tayo sāvakānaṃ sannipātā ahesuṃ sabbesaṃyeva khīṇāsavānaṃ.
14尸弃佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,比丘们,有过三次弟子集会:一次弟子集会有十万比丘,一次弟子集会有八万比丘,一次弟子集会有七万比丘。尸弃佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者的这三次弟子集会,比丘们,全都是漏尽的圣者。
‘‘Sikhissa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa tayo sāvakānaṃ sannipātā ahesuṃ. Eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi bhikkhusatasahassaṃ, eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi asītibhikkhusahassāni, eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi sattatibhikkhusahassāni. Sikhissa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa ime tayo sāvakānaṃ sannipātā ahesuṃ sabbesaṃyeva khīṇāsavānaṃ.
15比丘们,毗舍婆世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者的父亲是名叫苏帕提陀的国王,生母是名叫容跋瓦提的王后。苏帕提陀国王的都城是阿诺玛城。
‘‘Vessabhussa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa tayo sāvakānaṃ sannipātā ahesuṃ. Eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi asītibhikkhusahassāni, eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi sattatibhikkhusahassāni, eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi saṭṭhibhikkhusahassāni. Vessabhussa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa ime tayo sāvakānaṃ sannipātā ahesuṃ sabbesaṃyeva khīṇāsavānaṃ.
16诸位比丘,拘留孙佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,曾有过一次弟子集会,是四万比丘。诸位比丘,拘留孙佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者有过这一次弟子集会,全都是漏尽者。
‘‘Kakusandhassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi cattālīsabhikkhusahassāni. Kakusandhassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa ayaṃ eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi sabbesaṃyeva khīṇāsavānaṃ.
17诸位比丘,拘那含佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,曾有过一次弟子集会,是三万比丘。诸位比丘,拘那含佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者有过这一次弟子集会,全都是漏尽者。
‘‘Koṇāgamanassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi tiṃsabhikkhusahassāni. Koṇāgamanassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa ayaṃ eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi sabbesaṃyeva khīṇāsavānaṃ.
18诸位比丘,迦叶佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者,曾有过一次弟子集会,是二万比丘。诸位比丘,迦叶佛、阿拉汉、正等正觉者有过这一次弟子集会,全都是漏尽者。
‘‘Kassapassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi vīsatibhikkhusahassāni. Kassapassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa ayaṃ eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi sabbesaṃyeva khīṇāsavānaṃ.
19诸位比丘,我如今有过一次弟子集会,是一千二百五十位比丘。诸位比丘,我如今有过这一次弟子集会,全都是漏尽者。
‘‘Mayhaṃ, bhikkhave, etarahi eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi aḍḍhateḷasāni bhikkhusatāni. Mayhaṃ, bhikkhave, ayaṃ eko sāvakānaṃ sannipāto ahosi sabbesaṃyeva khīṇāsavānaṃ.
11「比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有名为阿索咖的比丘为侍者,为上首侍者。比丘们,尸弃佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有名为堪曼咖拉的比丘为侍者,为上首侍者。比丘们,毗舍婆佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有名为乌巴三塔的比丘为侍者,为上首侍者。比丘们,拘留孙佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有名为菩提佳的比丘为侍者,为上首侍者。比丘们,拘那含佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有名为索提佳的比丘为侍者,为上首侍者。比丘们,迦叶佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有名为萨跋密答的比丘为侍者,为上首侍者。比丘们,我如今有名为阿难的比丘为侍者,为上首侍者。」
‘‘Vipassissa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa asoko nāma bhikkhu upaṭṭhāko ahosi aggupaṭṭhāko. Sikhissa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa khemaṅkaro nāma bhikkhu upaṭṭhāko ahosi aggupaṭṭhāko. Vessabhussa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa upasanto nāma bhikkhu upaṭṭhāko ahosi aggupaṭṭhāko. Kakusandhassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa buddhijo nāma bhikkhu upaṭṭhāko ahosi aggupaṭṭhāko. Koṇāgamanassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa sotthijo nāma bhikkhu upaṭṭhāko ahosi aggupaṭṭhāko. Kassapassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa sabbamitto nāma bhikkhu upaṭṭhāko ahosi aggupaṭṭhāko. Mayhaṃ, bhikkhave, etarahi ānando nāma bhikkhu upaṭṭhāko ahosi aggupaṭṭhāko.
12「比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的父亲是名为槃度马的国王,生母是名为槃度马蒂的王后。槃度马王的都城名为槃度马蒂城。」
‘‘Vipassissa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa bandhumā nāma rājā pitā ahosi. Bandhumatī nāma devī mātā ahosi janetti . Bandhumassa rañño bandhumatī nāma nagaraṃ rājadhānī ahosi.
22比丘们,尸弃世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者的父亲是名叫阿鲁诺的国王,生母是名叫帕跋瓦提的王后。阿鲁诺国王的都城是阿鲁诺瓦提城。
‘‘Sikhissa , bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa aruṇo nāma rājā pitā ahosi. Pabhāvatī nāma devī mātā ahosi janetti. Aruṇassa rañño aruṇavatī nāma nagaraṃ rājadhānī ahosi.
23「比丘们,毗舍婆佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的父亲是名为苏巴提嗒的国王,生母是名为瓦沙瓦蒂的王后。苏巴提嗒王的都城名为阿诺玛城。」
‘‘Vessabhussa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa suppatito nāma rājā pitā ahosi. Vassavatī nāma devī mātā ahosi janetti. Suppatitassa rañño anomaṃ nāma nagaraṃ rājadhānī ahosi.
24「比丘们,拘留孙佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的父亲是名为阿基达答的婆罗门,生母是名为维沙卡的婆罗门女。比丘们,当时有名为堪马的国王。堪马王的都城名为堪马瓦蒂城。」
‘‘Kakusandhassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa aggidatto nāma brāhmaṇo pitā ahosi. Visākhā nāma brāhmaṇī mātā ahosi janetti. Tena kho pana, bhikkhave, samayena khemo nāma rājā ahosi. Khemassa rañño khemavatī nāma nagaraṃ rājadhānī ahosi.
25「比丘们,拘那含佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的父亲是名为阳雅达答的婆罗门,生母是名为乌答拉的婆罗门女。比丘们,当时有名为索跋的国王。索跋王的都城名为索跋瓦蒂城。」
‘‘Koṇāgamanassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa yaññadatto nāma brāhmaṇo pitā ahosi. Uttarā nāma brāhmaṇī mātā ahosi janetti. Tena kho pana, bhikkhave, samayena sobho nāma rājā ahosi. Sobhassa rañño sobhavatī nāma nagaraṃ rājadhānī ahosi.
26「比丘们,迦叶佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的父亲是名为梵授的婆罗门,生母是名为达那瓦蒂的婆罗门女。比丘们,当时有名为吉基的国王。吉基王的都城名为波罗奈城。」
‘‘Kassapassa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa brahmadatto nāma brāhmaṇo pitā ahosi. Dhanavatī nāma brāhmaṇī mātā ahosi janetti. Tena kho pana, bhikkhave, samayena kikī nāma rājā ahosi. Kikissa rañño bārāṇasī nāma nagaraṃ rājadhānī ahosi.
27“比丘们,我这一世的父亲是净饭王,生我的母亲是摩耶妃子。王城是迦毗罗卫。”世尊说完这些,善逝从座位上起身,走进了住所。
‘‘Mayhaṃ, bhikkhave, etarahi suddhodano nāma rājā pitā ahosi. Māyā nāma devī mātā ahosi janetti. Kapilavatthu nāma nagaraṃ rājadhānī ahosī’’ti. Idamavoca bhagavā, idaṃ vatvāna sugato uṭṭhāyāsanā vihāraṃ pāvisi.
13那时,世尊离开后不久,这些比丘之间就生起了这样的议论:“朋友们,这真是不可思议,真是罕见,如来竟有这么大的神通、这么大的威力。如来竟然能忆起那些过去佛——他们已经彻底涅槃,断除了戏论,截断了流转之路,耗尽了轮转,超越了所有痛苦——忆起他们的出身,忆起他们的名字,忆起他们的族姓,忆起他们的寿量,忆起他们的双贤弟子,忆起他们的弟子集会,并说出:‘那些世尊是这样的出身,这样的名字,这样的族姓,这样的戒行,这样的法,这样的智慧,这样的住世方式,这样的解脱。’”
Atha kho tesaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ acirapakkantassa bhagavato ayamantarākathā udapādi – ‘‘acchariyaṃ, āvuso, abbhutaṃ, āvuso, tathāgatassa mahiddhikatā mahānubhāvatā. 29“朋友们,到底是因为如来自己深彻通达了这法界,基于对这法界的深彻通达,如来才能忆起那些过去佛——他们已经彻底涅槃,断除了戏论,截断了流转之路,耗尽了轮转,超越了所有痛苦——忆起他们的出身,名字,族姓,寿量,双贤弟子,弟子集会,并说出:‘那些世尊是这样的出身……这样的解脱’呢?还是说有天神将这件事告诉了如来,基于此,如来才能忆起那些过去佛——他们已经彻底涅槃,断除了戏论,截断了流转之路,耗尽了轮转,超越了所有痛苦——忆起他们的出身……(中略)……并说出:‘那些世尊是这样的出身……这样的解脱’呢?”这时,这些比丘之间的这番谈话还没结束。
‘‘Kiṃ nu kho, āvuso, tathāgatasseva nu kho esā dhammadhātu suppaṭividdhā, yassā dhammadhātuyā suppaṭividdhattā tathāgato atīte buddhe parinibbute chinnapapañce chinnavaṭume pariyādinnavaṭṭe sabbadukkhavītivatte jātitopi anussarati, nāmatopi anussarati, gottatopi anussarati, āyuppamāṇatopi anussarati, sāvakayugatopi anussarati, sāvakasannipātatopi anussarati – ‘evaṃjaccā te bhagavanto ahesuṃ itipi, evaṃnāmā evaṃgottā evaṃsīlā evaṃdhammā evaṃpaññā evaṃvihārī evaṃvimuttā te bhagavanto ahesuṃ itipī’ti, udāhu devatā tathāgatassa etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ, yena tathāgato atīte buddhe parinibbute chinnapapañce chinnavaṭume pariyādinnavaṭṭe sabbadukkhavītivatte jātitopi anussarati, nāmatopi anussarati, gottatopi anussarati, āyuppamāṇatopi anussarati, sāvakayugatopi anussarati, sāvakasannipātatopi anussarati – ‘evaṃjaccā te bhagavanto ahesuṃ itipi, evaṃnāmā evaṃgottā evaṃsīlā evaṃdhammā evaṃpaññā evaṃvihārī evaṃvimuttā te bhagavanto ahesuṃ itipī’’’ti. Ayañca hidaṃ tesaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ antarākathā vippakatā hoti.
14那时,到了傍晚,世尊从禅坐中出来,朝着咖雷利咖圆堂走去。走到之后,在铺好的座位上坐下。坐好后,世尊就问比丘们:“比丘们,你们现在聚在一起在讨论什么话?你们还没说完的话题是什么?”
Atha kho bhagavā sāyanhasamayaṃ paṭisallānā vuṭṭhito yena karerimaṇḍalamāḷo tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā paññatte āsane nisīdi. Nisajja kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘kāyanuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kathāya sannisinnā; kā ca pana vo antarākathā vippakatā’’ti?
31如是所说时,那些比丘对世尊这样说:「尊者,世尊刚离开不久,我们生起了这样的谈论——『贤友们,希有啊!贤友们,未曾有啊!如来的大神通、大威力,竟能忆念过去那些已般涅槃的诸佛——那些已断诸戏论、断诸径路、尽诸轮转、越一切苦的诸佛。如来能忆念他们的生、名、族姓、寿量、双贤弟子及弟子集会,知道「那些世尊如此种姓、如此名、如此族姓、如此戒、如此法、如此慧、如此住、如此解脱」。贤友们,这究竟是如来自己善通达法界,由于善通达法界之故,能忆念过去已般涅槃、断诸戏论、断诸径路、尽诸轮转、越一切苦的诸佛之生、名、族姓、寿量、双贤弟子及弟子集会,知道「那些世尊如此种姓、如此名、如此族姓、如此戒、如此法、如此慧、如此住、如此解脱」呢?还是诸天将此义告知如来,使如来能忆念过去已般涅槃、断诸戏论、断诸径路、尽诸轮转、越一切苦的诸佛之生、名、族姓、寿量、双贤弟子及弟子集会,知道「那些世尊如此种姓、如此名、如此族姓、如此戒、如此法、如此慧、如此住、如此解脱」呢?』尊者,这正是我们尚未说完的话,世尊便来到了。」

Ayaṃ kho no, bhante, antarākathā vippakatā, atha bhagavā anuppatto’’ti.
15世尊说:“比丘们,如来自己确实深彻通达了这法界,基于对这法界的深彻通达,如来能忆起那些过去佛——他们已经彻底涅槃,断除了戏论,截断了流转之路,耗尽了轮转,超越了所有痛苦——忆起他们的出身……并说出:‘那些世尊是这样的出身……这样的解脱。’同时,也有天神将这件事告诉了如来,基于此,如来能忆起那些过去佛——他们已经彻底涅槃,断除了戏论,截断了流转之路,耗尽了轮转,超越了所有痛苦——忆起他们的出身……并说出:‘那些世尊是这样的出身,这样的名字,这样的族姓,这样的戒行,这样的法,这样的智慧,这样的住世方式,这样的解脱。’”

33“比丘们,你们想不想更详细地听我讲讲有关过去世因缘的法义开示呢?” “世尊,这正是时候;善逝,这正是时候。请世尊为我们更详细地开示有关过去世因缘的法义。比丘们听了世尊的教导后,会铭记在心的。” “那么,比丘们,仔细听,用心思惟,我这就为你们说。” “好的,尊者。”那些比丘回答世尊。世尊便这样说道:
‘‘Iccheyyātha no tumhe, bhikkhave, bhiyyosomattāya pubbenivāsapaṭisaṃyuttaṃ dhammiṃ kathaṃ sotu’’nti? ‘‘Etassa, bhagavā, kālo; etassa, sugata, kālo; yaṃ bhagavā bhiyyosomattāya pubbenivāsapaṭisaṃyuttaṃ dhammiṃ kathaṃ kareyya, bhagavato sutvā bhikkhū dhāressantī’’ti. ‘‘Tena hi, bhikkhave , suṇātha, sādhukaṃ manasi karotha, bhāsissāmī’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’ti kho te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. 16「比丘们,从今九十一劫之前,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者出现于世。比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者生于刹帝利种姓,出生于刹帝利家族。比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者,族姓是衮丹雅。比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的寿量为八万岁。比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者于巴嗒离树下证悟。比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有名为堪达、提沙的上首双贤弟子。比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有三次弟子集会:一次弟子集会有六百八十万比丘,一次弟子集会有十万比丘,一次弟子集会有八万比丘。比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有这三次弟子集会,全都是诸漏尽者。比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有名为阿索咖的比丘为侍者,为上首侍者。比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的父亲是名为槃度马的国王,生母是名为槃度马蒂的王后。槃度马王的都城名为槃度马蒂城。」
‘‘Ito so, bhikkhave, ekanavutikappe yaṃ vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho loke udapādi. Vipassī, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho khattiyo jātiyā ahosi, khattiyakule udapādi. Vipassī, bhikkhave, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho koṇḍañño gottena ahosi. Vipassissa, bhikkhave, bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa asītivassasahassāni āyuppamāṇaṃ ahosi. 17“那时,比丘们,毗婆尸菩萨从兜率天身死后,保持着正念和正知,进入母胎。这就是这里的法性规律。”
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, vipassī bodhisatto tusitā kāyā cavitvā sato sampajāno mātukucchiṃ okkami. Ayamettha dhammatā.
18“比丘们,这就是法性规律:当菩萨从兜率天死后进入母胎时,在包括天界、魔界、梵天界,以及包括沙门、婆罗门、天人等在内的一切世间,就会出现一道无量、殊胜的光芒,远远胜过诸天的威神力。即使是那些处在世界中间,幽暗、闭塞、漆黑、伸手不见五指的地方,连如此威神广大、威力无边的日月之光都无法照到的地方,在那里也会出现一道无量、殊胜的光芒,远远胜过诸天的威神力。那些投生到那个地方的众生,也会凭着这道光芒,彼此认出对方:‘哎呀,原来还有其他的众生也投生在这里啊!’而这个一万个世界构成的宇宙,会震动、剧烈震动、强烈震动。世间就会出现这道无量、殊胜的光芒,远远胜过诸天的威神力。这就是这里的法性规律。”
‘‘Dhammatā, esā, bhikkhave, yadā bodhisatto tusitā kāyā cavitvā mātukucchiṃ okkamati. Atha sadevake loke samārake sabrahmake sassamaṇabrāhmaṇiyā pajāya sadevamanussāya appamāṇo uḷāro obhāso pātubhavati atikkammeva devānaṃ devānubhāvaṃ. Yāpi tā lokantarikā aghā asaṃvutā andhakārā andhakāratimisā , yattha pime candimasūriyā evaṃmahiddhikā evaṃmahānubhāvā ābhāya nānubhonti, tatthapi appamāṇo uḷāro obhāso pātubhavati atikkammeva devānaṃ devānubhāvaṃ. Yepi tattha sattā upapannā, tepi tenobhāsena aññamaññaṃ sañjānanti – ‘aññepi kira, bho, santi sattā idhūpapannā’ti. Ayañca dasasahassī lokadhātu saṅkampati sampakampati sampavedhati. Appamāṇo ca uḷāro obhāso loke pātubhavati atikkammeva devānaṃ devānubhāvaṃ. Ayamettha dhammatā.

20「比丘们,此为法性:当菩萨入母胎时,菩萨之母自然持戒,离杀生,离不与取,离欲邪行,离妄语,离放逸之因的诸酒类。此中为法性。」
‘‘Dhammatā esā, bhikkhave, yadā bodhisatto mātukucchiṃ okkanto hoti, pakatiyā sīlavatī bodhisattamātā hoti, viratā pāṇātipātā, viratā adinnādānā, viratā kāmesumicchācārā , viratā musāvādā, viratā surāmerayamajjappamādaṭṭhānā. Ayamettha dhammatā.
21「比丘们,此为法性:当菩萨入母胎时,菩萨之母对男人不起伴随欲念之心,菩萨之母不被任何有染着心的男人所犯。此中为法性。」
‘‘Dhammatā esā, bhikkhave, yadā bodhisatto mātukucchiṃ okkanto hoti, na bodhisattamātu purisesu mānasaṃ uppajjati kāmaguṇūpasaṃhitaṃ, anatikkamanīyā ca bodhisattamātā hoti kenaci purisena rattacittena. Ayamettha dhammatā.
22「比丘们,此为法性:当菩萨入母胎时,菩萨之母得五欲功德;她被五欲功德具足、具备地享用。此中为法性。」
‘‘Dhammatā esā, bhikkhave, yadā bodhisatto mātukucchiṃ okkanto hoti, lābhinī bodhisattamātā hoti pañcannaṃ kāmaguṇānaṃ. Sā pañcahi kāmaguṇehi samappitā samaṅgībhūtā paricāreti. Ayamettha dhammatā.
23「比丘们,此为法性:当菩萨入母胎时,菩萨之母没有任何疾病生起。菩萨之母安乐、身不疲倦,菩萨之母看见在胎内的菩萨——肢节齐全、诸根不缺。比丘们,犹如琉璃宝珠,美丽、优等、八面、善加工、晶莹、澄澈、无浊、一切相具足。其中穿着一条丝线——青、黄、赤、白或淡色。具眼之人执于掌中观察:『此琉璃宝珠,美丽、优等、八面、善加工、晶莹、澄澈、无浊、一切相具足。其中穿着一条丝线——青、黄、赤、白或淡色。』同样地,比丘们,当菩萨入母胎时,菩萨之母没有任何疾病生起,菩萨之母安乐、身不疲倦,菩萨之母看见在胎内的菩萨——肢节齐全、诸根不缺。此中为法性。」
‘‘Dhammatā esā, bhikkhave, yadā bodhisatto mātukucchiṃ okkanto hoti, na bodhisattamātu kocideva ābādho uppajjati. Sukhinī bodhisattamātā hoti akilantakāyā, bodhisattañca bodhisattamātā tirokucchigataṃ passati sabbaṅgapaccaṅgiṃ ahīnindriyaṃ. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, maṇi veḷuriyo subho jātimā aṭṭhaṃso suparikammakato accho vippasanno anāvilo sabbākārasampanno. Tatrāssa suttaṃ āvutaṃ nīlaṃ vā pītaṃ vā lohitaṃ vā odātaṃ vā paṇḍusuttaṃ vā. Tamenaṃ cakkhumā puriso hatthe karitvā paccavekkheyya – ‘ayaṃ kho maṇi veḷuriyo subho jātimā aṭṭhaṃso suparikammakato accho vippasanno anāvilo sabbākārasampanno. Tatridaṃ suttaṃ āvutaṃ nīlaṃ vā pītaṃ vā lohitaṃ vā odātaṃ vā paṇḍusuttaṃ vā’ti. Evameva kho, bhikkhave, yadā bodhisatto mātukucchiṃ okkanto hoti, na bodhisattamātu kocideva ābādho uppajjati, sukhinī bodhisattamātā hoti akilantakāyā , bodhisattañca bodhisattamātā tirokucchigataṃ passati sabbaṅgapaccaṅgiṃ ahīnindriyaṃ. 24“比丘们,这是法性:菩萨诞生后的第七天,菩萨的母亲便去世了,投生到兜率天。这在此即是法性。”
‘‘Dhammatā esā, bhikkhave, sattāhajāte bodhisatte bodhisattamātā kālaṅkaroti tusitaṃ kāyaṃ upapajjati. Ayamettha dhammatā.
25“比丘们,这是法性:其他妇女在怀胎九个月或十个月生产,但菩萨的母亲并不那样生产。菩萨的母亲怀胎满十个月才生产。这在此即是法性。”
‘‘Dhammatā esā, bhikkhave, yathā aññā itthikā nava vā dasa vā māse gabbhaṃ kucchinā pariharitvā vijāyanti, na hevaṃ bodhisattaṃ bodhisattamātā vijāyati. Daseva māsāni bodhisattaṃ bodhisattamātā kucchinā pariharitvā vijāyati. Ayamettha dhammatā.
26“比丘们,这是法性:其他妇女或坐着,或躺着生产,但菩萨的母亲并不那样生产。菩萨的母亲是站着生下菩萨的。这在此即是法性。”
‘‘Dhammatā esā, bhikkhave, yathā aññā itthikā nisinnā vā nipannā vā vijāyanti, na hevaṃ bodhisattaṃ bodhisattamātā vijāyati. Ṭhitāva bodhisattaṃ bodhisattamātā vijāyati. Ayamettha dhammatā.
27「比丘们,此为法性:当菩萨从母胎出生时,诸天先接住,然后才是人。此中为法性。」
‘‘Dhammatā esā, bhikkhave, yadā bodhisatto mātukucchimhā nikkhamati, devā paṭhamaṃ paṭiggaṇhanti, pacchā manussā. Ayamettha dhammatā.
28「比丘们,此为法性:当菩萨从母胎出生时,菩萨未着地,四位天子接住后置于母前:『王后,请欢喜,您生了大有威力之子。』此中为法性。」

29诸比丘,这是常法:当菩萨从母胎出来时,他清净地出来,不被水所污,不被黏液所污,不被血所污,不被任何不净所污,清净、洁净。诸比丘,犹如宝珠放在迦尸布上,宝珠不会污染迦尸布,迦尸布也不会污染宝珠。那是什么原因?因为两者都清净。诸比丘,同样地,当菩萨从母胎出来时,他清净地出来,不被水所污,不被黏液所污,不被血所污,不被任何不净所污,清净、洁净。这是此处的常法。

30「比丘们,此为法性:当菩萨从母胎出生时,从空中出现两注水流——一冷一暖,以之为菩萨及其母作沐浴之事。此中为法性。」

31「比丘们,此为法性:初生的菩萨以双足平稳而立,向北面以七步迈步而行,白伞盖覆于其上,遍观一切方,发出牛王之语:『我是世间最上者,我是世间最长者,我是世间最胜者,此为最后生,如今再无后有。』此中为法性。」
‘‘Dhammatā esā, bhikkhave, sampatijāto bodhisatto samehi pādehi patiṭṭhahitvā uttarābhimukho sattapadavītihārena gacchati setamhi chatte anudhāriyamāne, sabbā ca disā anuviloketi, āsabhiṃ vācaṃ bhāsati ‘aggohamasmi lokassa, jeṭṭhohamasmi lokassa, seṭṭhohamasmi lokassa, ayamantimā jāti, natthidāni punabbhavo’ti. 32「比丘们,此为法性:当菩萨从母胎出生时,于包含诸天、魔、梵天的世界,于包含沙门、婆罗门、诸天与人众的众生中,出现无量、殊胜、超越诸天威力的光明。乃至那些世界中间的空缺、无遮蔽、黑暗、深暗之处——在那里,连具有如此大神通、大威力的此日月也不能以光明达到——于彼处也出现无量、殊胜、超越诸天威力的光明。那里所生的众生,也以彼光明彼此认知:『诸君,原来也有其他众生生于此处。』此一万世界界震动、遍震动、大震动。无量、殊胜的光明出现于世间,超越诸天威力。此中为法性。」
‘‘Dhammatā esā, bhikkhave, yadā bodhisatto mātukucchimhā nikkhamati, atha sadevake loke samārake sabrahmake sassamaṇabrāhmaṇiyā pajāya sadevamanussāya appamāṇo uḷāro obhāso pātubhavati, atikkammeva devānaṃ devānubhāvaṃ. Yāpi tā lokantarikā aghā asaṃvutā andhakārā andhakāratimisā, yattha pime candimasūriyā evaṃmahiddhikā evaṃmahānubhāvā ābhāya nānubhonti, tatthapi appamāṇo uḷāro obhāso pātubhavati atikkammeva devānaṃ devānubhāvaṃ. Yepi tattha sattā upapannā, tepi tenobhāsena aññamaññaṃ sañjānanti – ‘aññepi kira, bho, santi sattā idhūpapannā’ti. 33“比丘们,当毗婆尸太子出生后,人们向般度马王报告说:‘国王,您的儿子出生了,请国王去看看他吧。’比丘们,般度马王见到了毗婆尸太子,看过之后,就派人请来那些相术婆罗门,对他们说:‘各位相术婆罗门,请看看这位太子吧。’比丘们,那些相术婆罗门见到了毗婆尸太子,看过之后,就对般度马王说:‘国王,您应该满心欢喜,您生了一位大威德的儿子。大王,这是您的福气,大王,您真是得到了好东西,在您的家族里竟然生出了这样的儿子。国王,这位太子具有三十二大人相。具有这些大人相的人,就只有两条路,没有别的。如果他选择在家生活,就会成为转轮圣王,一位依法而治的法王,征服四方,国土安稳,拥有七种宝。这就是他的七宝:轮宝、象宝、马宝、珠宝、女宝、居士宝,以及第七位,将领宝。而且,他会有一千多个儿子,个个都是英勇健壮、能击垮敌军的人。他会以正法,不用棍棒、不用刀剑,征服这片有大海为界的土地,然后安住其中。然而,如果他离家过起出家的无家生活,就会成为一位阿拉汉、正自觉者,在这个世界上掀开遮蔽了。’”
‘‘Jāte kho pana, bhikkhave, vipassimhi kumāre bandhumato rañño paṭivedesuṃ – ‘putto te, deva , jāto, taṃ devo passatū’ti. Addasā kho, bhikkhave, bandhumā rājā vipassiṃ kumāraṃ, disvā nemitte brāhmaṇe āmantāpetvā etadavoca – ‘passantu bhonto nemittā brāhmaṇā kumāra’nti. Addasaṃsu kho, bhikkhave, nemittā brāhmaṇā vipassiṃ kumāraṃ, disvā bandhumantaṃ rājānaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘attamano, deva, hohi, mahesakkho te putto uppanno, lābhā te, mahārāja, suladdhaṃ te, mahārāja, yassa te kule evarūpo putto uppanno. Ayañhi, deva, kumāro dvattiṃsamahāpurisalakkhaṇehi samannāgato, yehi samannāgatassa mahāpurisassa dveva gatiyo bhavanti anaññā. 36『陛下,此童子具足此三十二大人相,具足此相的大人只有二趣,更无其他:若居家,则成转轮王,如法、法王,为四方之征服者,达成国土安定,具足七宝。他有此七宝,即:轮宝、象宝、马宝、珠宝、女宝、居士宝,将军宝为第七。他将有超过千人的英勇、具勇士之相、摧伏他军的儿子。他以法征服此至海的大地,不用杖、不用刀而统治。若离家出家过无家生活者,则成阿拉汉、正自觉者,世间的揭开覆障者。』」

‘‘Jāto kho pana, bhikkhave, vipassī kumāro mañjussaro ca ahosi vaggussaro ca madhurassaro ca pemaniyassaro ca. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, himavante pabbate karavīkā nāma sakuṇajāti mañjussarā ca vaggussarā ca madhurassarā ca pemaniyassarā ca; evameva kho, bhikkhave, vipassī kumāro mañjussaro ca ahosi vaggussaro ca madhurassaro ca pemaniyassaro ca.
39比丘们,毗婆尸王子一出生,就凭借他业报所生的天眼出现于世。靠着它,无论白天还是黑夜,他都能看清周围一由旬的范围。
‘‘Jātassa kho pana, bhikkhave, vipassissa kumārassa kammavipākajaṃ dibbacakkhu pāturahosi yena sudaṃ samantā yojanaṃ passati divā ceva rattiñca.
40「比丘们,毗婆尸童子出生时,不瞬目而视,犹如三十三天的诸天。『童子不瞬目而视』——比丘们,因此毗婆尸童子生起『毗婆尸、毗婆尸』的称号。」
‘‘Jāto kho pana, bhikkhave, vipassī kumāro animisanto pekkhati seyyathāpi devā tāvatiṃsā. ‘Animisanto kumāro pekkhatī’ti kho, bhikkhave , vipassissa kumārassa ‘vipassī vipassī’ tveva samaññā udapādi.
41比丘们,那时,般度马国王在审案理政的地方坐下来,把毗婆尸王子抱坐在腿上,教他处理政务。就在那儿,比丘们,毗婆尸王子坐在父亲的腿上,能细致地审察、分辨案件,并且都以公正合法的方式来判断。因为这位王子能‘细致地审察’并以正理来判断,所以,比丘们,人们就更加确定地给了他‘毗婆尸、毗婆尸’这个名字。
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, bandhumā rājā atthakaraṇe nisinno vipassiṃ kumāraṃ aṅke nisīdāpetvā atthe anusāsati . Tatra sudaṃ, bhikkhave, vipassī kumāro pituaṅke nisinno viceyya viceyya atthe panāyati ñāyena . Viceyya viceyya kumāro atthe panāyati ñāyenāti kho, bhikkhave, vipassissa kumārassa bhiyyosomattāya ‘vipassī vipassī’ tveva samaññā udapādi.
42「那时,比丘们,槃度马王为毗婆尸童子建造三座宫殿——一为雨季,一为冬季,一为夏季;供给五欲功德。比丘们,毗婆尸童子在雨季宫殿中,四月间被无男子的乐人围绕享乐,不下宫殿。」
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, bandhumā rājā vipassissa kumārassa tayo pāsāde kārāpesi, ekaṃ vassikaṃ ekaṃ hemantikaṃ ekaṃ gimhikaṃ; pañca kāmaguṇāni upaṭṭhāpesi. Tatra sudaṃ, bhikkhave, vipassī kumāro vassike pāsāde cattāro māse nippurisehi tūriyehi paricārayamāno na heṭṭhāpāsādaṃ orohatī’’ti.

43比丘们,那时,过了好多年、好几百年、好几千年之后,毗婆尸王子对一个车夫说:‘亲爱的车夫,把那些最好的、最豪华的车都套好,我们要去园林乐土,看看那些美丽的风景。’比丘们,车夫回答说:‘好的,殿下。’然后就把一辆辆最好的、最豪华的车都套好了,并向毗婆尸王子禀报:‘殿下,那些最好的、最豪华的车都已经套好了,如果您觉得现在正是时候,就可以出发了。’比丘们,接着,毗婆尸王子登上了一辆最好的、最豪华的车,乘着这些最豪华的车辆,向着园林乐土出发了。
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, vipassī kumāro bahūnaṃ vassānaṃ bahūnaṃ vassasatānaṃ bahūnaṃ vassasahassānaṃ accayena sārathiṃ āmantesi – ‘yojehi, samma sārathi, bhaddāni bhaddāni yānāni uyyānabhūmiṃ gacchāma subhūmidassanāyā’ti. ‘Evaṃ, devā’ti kho, bhikkhave, sārathi vipassissa kumārassa paṭissutvā bhaddāni bhaddāni yānāni yojetvā vipassissa kumārassa paṭivedesi – ‘yuttāni kho te, deva, bhaddāni bhaddāni yānāni, yassa dāni kālaṃ maññasī’ti . 44比丘们,在前往游乐园地的路上,毗婆尸太子看见一个剃了光头、穿着袈裟的出家人。看到之后,他问车夫:‘喂,亲爱的车夫,这个人是做什么的?他的头怎么跟别人不一样,他穿的衣服怎么跟别人不一样?’‘殿下,这个人叫做出家人。’‘喂,亲爱的车夫,这个叫做出家人的人,是做什么的呢?’‘殿下,这个叫做出家人的人,善于修习正法之行,善于修习平等之行,善于做善事,善于做功德事,善于不伤害,善于怜悯众生。’‘喂,亲爱的车夫,这个叫做出家人的人真是好啊——善于修习正法之行,善于修习平等之行,善于做善事,善于做功德事,善于不伤害,善于怜悯众生。那么,亲爱的车夫,把车驶向那个出家人那边去吧。’‘好的,殿下。’比丘们,那位车夫答应了毗婆尸太子,就把车驶向了那个出家人所在的地方。然后,比丘们,毗婆尸太子对那位出家人这样说:‘朋友,你是做什么的?你的头怎么跟别人不一样,你穿的衣服怎么跟别人不一样?’‘殿下,我是一个出家人。’‘朋友,你这个叫做出家人的人,是做什么的呢?’‘殿下,我这个出家人,善于修习正法之行,善于修习平等之行,善于做善事,善于做功德事,善于不伤害,善于怜悯众生。’‘朋友,你这个叫做出家人的人真是好啊——善于修习正法之行,善于修习平等之行,善于做善事,善于做功德事,善于不伤害,善于怜悯众生。’

45“比丘们,那时,槃头摩王召来车夫,问他:‘喂,车夫,王子在游乐园地玩得开心吗?他对游乐园地感到满意吗?’车夫回答:‘大王,王子在游乐园地玩得不开心,他对游乐园地一点也感不到满意。’‘这是怎么回事,车夫,王子在前往游乐园地的路上看到了什么?’‘大王,王子在前往游乐园地时,看见很多人聚集在一起,还用各色各样的布料在搭建一个抬架。看到后,他就问我:“喂,车夫,为什么有这么多人聚集,还用各色各样的布料在搭抬架?”我回答:“王子,这叫做去世的人。”他就说:“那么,车夫,就把车驶到那位去世的人那边去吧。”大王,我就这样答应了毗婆尸王子,把车驶向了那位去世的人那边。大王,王子看见了那位去世的人,看到后他就问我:“车夫,这去世的人是怎么回事呢?”我答:“王子,所谓的去世的人,就是母亲、父亲,或是其他有血缘关系的亲戚都再也见不到他了,而他也再也见不到母亲、父亲,或是其他有血缘关系的亲戚了。”他又问:“车夫,那么我是不是也一样,本性就是会死亡的,无法超越死亡?我将来有一天,父王、母后,或是其他有血缘关系的亲戚都再也见不到我了,而我也再也见不到父王、母后,或是其他有血缘关系的亲戚了吗?”我答:“您、我,以及我们所有人,本性都是会死亡的,都无法超越死亡。您将来有一天,父王、母后,或是其他有血缘关系的亲戚都再也见不到您了,而您也再也见不到父王、母后,或是其他有血缘关系的亲戚了。”他就说:“既然如此,车夫,今天游乐园地就到此为止吧,我们就从这里返回内宫去。”大王,我就这样答应了毗婆尸王子,直接从那里返回了内宫。那位王子回到内宫后,就变得忧愁、闷闷不乐,反复地思索:“这称为‘生’的东西,真是可鄙啊!因为有了生,老、病、死就显现出来了。”’”

‘‘Assosi kho, bhikkhave, bandhumatiyā rājadhāniyā mahājanakāyo caturāsīti pāṇasahassāni – ‘vipassī kira kumāro kesamassuṃ ohāretvā kāsāyāni vatthāni acchādetvā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajito’ti. Sutvāna tesaṃ etadahosi – ‘na hi nūna so orako dhammavinayo, na sā orakā pabbajjā, yattha vipassī kumāro kesamassuṃ ohāretvā kāsāyāni vatthāni acchādetvā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajito. ‘‘Atha kho, so bhikkhave, mahājanakāyo caturāsīti pāṇasahassāni kesamassuṃ ohāretvā kāsāyāni vatthāni acchādetvā vipassiṃ bodhisattaṃ agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajitaṃ anupabbajiṃsu. Tāya sudaṃ, bhikkhave, parisāya parivuto vipassī bodhisatto gāmanigamajanapadarājadhānīsu cārikaṃ carati.
56「诸比丘!那时,毗婆尸菩萨独自远离、隐退时,心中生起这样的寻思:『对我来说,我这样拥挤而住并不适当,让我独自从群众中隔离而住吧!』诸比丘!那时,毗婆尸菩萨在其后的时候独自从群众中隔离而住,那八万四千名出家者走一条路,毗婆尸菩萨走另一条路。
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, vipassissa bodhisattassa rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi – ‘na kho metaṃ patirūpaṃ yohaṃ ākiṇṇo viharāmi, yaṃnūnāhaṃ eko gaṇamhā vūpakaṭṭho vihareyya’nti. ‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, vipassissa bodhisattassa vāsūpagatassa rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi – ‘kicchaṃ vatāyaṃ loko āpanno, jāyati ca jīyati ca mīyati ca cavati ca upapajjati ca, atha ca panimassa dukkhassa nissaraṇaṃ nappajānāti jarāmaraṇassa, kudāssu nāma imassa dukkhassa nissaraṇaṃ paññāyissati jarāmaraṇassā’ti?
132这时,比丘们,毗婆尸菩萨心里又生起了这样的想法:'没有什么的时候,识才不会产生?什么东西灭了,识才会灭?'比丘们,这时毗婆尸菩萨因为从根源上作意,心里有了以智慧现观的洞见:'没有名色,识就不会产生;名色灭了,识就灭了。'

58「那时,比丘们,毗婆尸菩萨如此想——『此识从名色而返回,不再向前。就此为限有生、有老、有死、有没、有往生,即:以名色为缘有识,以识为缘有名色,以名色为缘有六处,以六处为缘有触,以触为缘有受,以受为缘有渴爱,以渴爱为缘有取,以取为缘有有,以有为缘有生,以生为缘有老死、愁、悲、苦、忧、恼而生。如是这整个苦蕴的集起。』」
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, vipassissa bodhisattassa etadahosi – ‘paccudāvattati kho idaṃ viññāṇaṃ nāmarūpamhā, nāparaṃ gacchati. Ettāvatā jāyetha vā jiyyetha vā miyyetha vā cavetha vā upapajjetha vā, yadidaṃ nāmarūpapaccayā viññāṇaṃ, viññāṇapaccayā nāmarūpaṃ, nāmarūpapaccayā saḷāyatanaṃ, saḷāyatanapaccayā phasso, phassapaccayā vedanā, vedanāpaccayā taṇhā , taṇhāpaccayā upādānaṃ, upādānapaccayā bhavo, bhavapaccayā jāti, jātipaccayā jarāmaraṇaṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā sambhavanti. Evametassa kevalassa dukkhakkhandhassa samudayo hoti’.
59“比丘们,对于那些以前从未听说过的法,毗婆尸菩萨生起了‘集起、集起’的眼,生起了智,生起了慧,生起了明,生起了光。”

‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, vipassissa bodhisattassa etadahosi – ‘adhigato kho myāyaṃ maggo sambodhāya yadidaṃ – nāmarūpanirodhā viññāṇanirodho, viññāṇanirodhā nāmarūpanirodho, nāmarūpanirodhā saḷāyatananirodho, saḷāyatananirodhā phassanirodho, phassanirodhā vedanānirodho, vedanānirodhā taṇhānirodho, taṇhānirodhā upādānanirodho, upādānanirodhā bhavanirodho, bhavanirodhā jātinirodho, jātinirodhā jarāmaraṇaṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā nirujjhanti. 62比丘们,对于过去从未听闻过的法,毗婆尸菩萨生起了眼,生起了智,生起了慧,生起了明,生起了光:‘这是灭,这是灭。’

63「那时,比丘们,毗婆尸菩萨后来于五取蕴随观生灭而住——『如此色,如此色的集起,如此色的消失;如此受,如此受的集起,如此受的消失;如此想,如此想的集起,如此想的消失;如此行,如此行的集起,如此行的消失;如此识,如此识的集起,如此识的消失。』当他于五取蕴随观生灭而住时,不久之后心由于不取着而从诸漏解脱。」

64「那时,比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者如此想——『我何不开示法?』那时,比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者如此想——『我所证的此法甚深、难见、难觉、寂静、殊胜、非思量所能及、微妙、智者所能知。然而此众生乐于阿赖耶、喜于阿赖耶、欣于阿赖耶。对于乐于阿赖耶、喜于阿赖耶、欣于阿赖耶的众生来说,此处即是难见,即:此缘性缘起。此处也是难见,即:一切行的寂止、一切依的舍离、渴爱的尽灭、离欲、灭、涅槃。如果我开示法,而他人不了解,那将是我的疲劳,那将是我的困扰。』」

167就这样,比丘们,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正等正觉者反复思考后,内心倾向于无为、不想费心,而不是倾向于去说法。
‘‘Itiha , bhikkhave, vipassissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa paṭisañcikkhato appossukkatāya cittaṃ nami, no dhammadesanāya.
66那时,比丘们,有位大梵天用自己的心了知了毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者心中的想法。他这样想:‘唉,这世间真要坏了,真要毁了!连毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者的心都倾向于不费力气,而不倾向于说法了。’比丘们,接着,那位大梵天——就像一个强壮的人把弯曲的手臂伸直,或把伸直的手臂弯曲那么快——从梵天界消失,出现在了毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者面前。那时,比丘们,那位大梵天把上衣搭在一肩,右膝跪在地上,朝着毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者的方向合起手掌,对毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者这样说:‘尊者世尊,请说法吧!善逝,请说法吧!有众生,他们眼里的尘垢很少。因为听不到法,他们正在退失;他们会是法的了知者。’
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, aññatarassa mahābrahmuno vipassissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya etadahosi – ‘nassati vata bho loko, vinassati vata bho loko, yatra hi nāma vipassissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa appossukkatāya cittaṃ namati , no dhammadesanāyā’ti. Atha kho so, bhikkhave, mahābrahmā seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya, pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya; evameva brahmaloke antarahito vipassissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa purato pāturahosi. Atha kho so, bhikkhave, mahābrahmā ekaṃsaṃ uttarāsaṅgaṃ karitvā dakkhiṇaṃ jāṇumaṇḍalaṃ pathaviyaṃ nihantvā yena vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho tenañjaliṃ paṇāmetvā vipassiṃ bhagavantaṃ arahantaṃ sammāsambuddhaṃ etadavoca – ‘desetu, bhante, bhagavā dhammaṃ, desetu sugato dhammaṃ, santi sattā apparajakkhajātikā; assavanatā dhammassa parihāyanti, bhavissanti dhammassa aññātāro’ti.
67比丘们,听了这话,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者对那位大梵天这样说:‘梵天啊,我自己也曾这样想:“我何不说法呢?”但梵天啊,接着我又这样想:“我所证得的这个法,是甚深的、难以看见的、难以觉悟的、寂静的、微妙的、超乎思维推论的、精妙的、只能被智者体验到的。而众生却乐于依附,爱好依附,喜欢依附。对于这乐于依附、爱好依附、喜欢依附的众生来说,这个道理是很难看到的——也就是‘此有故彼有,此生故彼生’的缘起。还有这个道理也是很难看到的——也就是一切造作的止息、一切执取的舍离、渴爱的灭尽、离欲、灭、涅槃。如果我说法而他人不能理解我,那只会让我疲惫,只会让我困扰。”梵天啊,接着,这些我以前从未听过的、不可思议的偈颂便在我心中浮现——
‘‘Evaṃ vutte , bhikkhave, vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho taṃ mahābrahmānaṃ etadavoca – ‘mayhampi kho, brahme, etadahosi – ‘‘yaṃnūnāhaṃ dhammaṃ deseyya’’nti. 69比丘们,那时,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者,就像一个强壮的人把弯曲的手臂伸直,或者把伸直的手臂弯曲一样快,从菩提树下消失了,出现在盘头摩帝王都安稳处的鹿野苑里。比丘们,接着毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者对看守林苑的人说:'喂,守林人,请你到盘头摩帝王都里去,这样告诉刹帝利王子和帝思婆罗门王子:两位贤者,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者已经来到盘头摩帝王都,正住在安稳处的鹿野苑,他想见你们。'比丘们,守林人回答毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者说:'好的,尊者。'接着他就进了盘头摩帝王都,对刹帝利王子和帝思婆罗门王子这样说道:'两位贤者,毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者已经来到盘头摩帝王都,正住在安稳处的鹿野苑,他想见你们。'

Addasā kho, bhikkhave, vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho buddhacakkhunā lokaṃ volokento satte apparajakkhe mahārajakkhe tikkhindriye mudindriye svākāre dvākāre suviññāpaye duviññāpaye appekacce paralokavajjabhayadassāvine viharante, appekacce na paralokavajjabhayadassāvine viharante. Seyyathāpi nāma uppaliniyaṃ vā paduminiyaṃ vā puṇḍarīkiniyaṃ vā appekaccāni uppalāni vā padumāni vā puṇḍarīkāni vā udake jātāni udake saṃvaḍḍhāni udakānuggatāni anto nimuggaposīni. Appekaccāni uppalāni vā padumāni vā puṇḍarīkāni vā udake jātāni udake saṃvaḍḍhāni samodakaṃ ṭhitāni. 70那时,比丘们,那位大梵天用自己的心了知了毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者心中的想法后,便用偈颂对毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者说——
‘‘Atha kho so, bhikkhave, mahābrahmā vipassissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa cetasā cetoparivitakkamaññāya vipassiṃ bhagavantaṃ arahantaṃ sammāsambuddhaṃ gāthāhi ajjhabhāsi –
178『犹如站立于山顶之石上,能遍观四方之人众;
‘Sele yathā pabbatamuddhaniṭṭhito, yathāpi passe janataṃ samantato;
179善慧者,犹如以法所成之楼阁,登上已,具普眼。
Tathūpamaṃ dhammamayaṃ sumedha, pāsādamāruyha samantacakkhu.
180离愁者,请观察为愁所陷的众生,
‘Sokāvatiṇṇaṃ janatamapetasoko,
181为生老所困。
Avekkhassu jātijarābhibhūtaṃ;
182奋起吧,胜战的勇者,
Uṭṭhehi vīra vijitasaṅgāma,
183商主、无罪者,请游行于世间。
Satthavāha aṇaṇa vicara loke.
184愿世尊开示法,
Desassu bhagavā dhammaṃ,

71「那时,比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者以偈颂对那大梵天说——」
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho taṃ mahābrahmānaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi –
187『彼等不死之门已开,
‘Apārutā tesaṃ amatassa dvārā,
188具耳者请舍去(不信),起信;
Ye sotavanto pamuñcantu saddhaṃ;
189梵天,因怖恼之想,我未说——
Vihiṃsasaññī paguṇaṃ na bhāsiṃ,
190于人中最胜之法。』」
Dhammaṃ paṇītaṃ manujesu brahme’ti.
191比丘们,那时那位大梵天心想:'毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者已经给了我说法开许的机会了。'于是,他向毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者顶礼,右绕之后,就在那里消失了。
‘‘Atha kho so, bhikkhave, mahābrahmā ‘katāvakāso khomhi vipassinā bhagavatā arahatā sammāsambuddhena dhammadesanāyā’ti vipassiṃ bhagavantaṃ arahantaṃ sammāsambuddhaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā tattheva antaradhāyi.

72「那时,比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者如此想——『我应先为谁说法?谁将迅速了知此法?』那时,比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者如此想——『此堪达王子与提沙祭官子住在槃度马蒂都城,他们贤明、干练、具智慧,长期是少尘垢性者。我何不先为堪达王子与提沙祭官子说法,他们将迅速了知此法。』」
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, vipassissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa etadahosi – ‘kassa nu kho ahaṃ paṭhamaṃ dhammaṃ deseyyaṃ, ko imaṃ dhammaṃ khippameva ājānissatī’ti? Atha kho, bhikkhave, vipassissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa etadahosi – ‘ayaṃ kho khaṇḍo ca rājaputto tisso ca purohitaputto bandhumatiyā rājadhāniyā paṭivasanti paṇḍitā viyattā medhāvino dīgharattaṃ apparajakkhajātikā. Yaṃnūnāhaṃ khaṇḍassa ca rājaputtassa, tissassa ca purohitaputtassa paṭhamaṃ dhammaṃ deseyyaṃ , te imaṃ dhammaṃ khippameva ājānissantī’ti.
73「那时,比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者犹如有力之人屈伸臂,或伸屈臂,就这样于菩提树下隐没,出现于槃度马蒂都城的堪马鹿野苑。那时,比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者对园丁说——『来,园丁,你进入槃度马蒂都城,对堪达王子与提沙祭官子如此说——尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者已至槃度马蒂都城,住于堪马鹿野苑,他欲见你们。』『是的,尊者。』比丘们,园丁应答毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者,进入槃度马蒂都城,对堪达王子与提沙祭官子如此说——『尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者已至槃度马蒂都城,住于堪马鹿野苑;他欲见你们。』」
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya, pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya; evameva bodhirukkhamūle antarahito bandhumatiyā rājadhāniyā kheme migadāye pāturahosi. Atha kho, bhikkhave, vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho dāyapālaṃ āmantesi – ‘ehi tvaṃ, samma dāyapāla, bandhumatiṃ rājadhāniṃ pavisitvā khaṇḍañca rājaputtaṃ tissañca purohitaputtaṃ evaṃ vadehi – vipassī, bhante, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho bandhumatiṃ rājadhāniṃ anuppatto kheme migadāye viharati, so tumhākaṃ dassanakāmo’ti. ‘Evaṃ, bhante’ti kho, bhikkhave, dāyapālo vipassissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa paṭissutvā bandhumatiṃ rājadhāniṃ pavisitvā khaṇḍañca rājaputtaṃ tissañca purohitaputtaṃ etadavoca – ‘vipassī, bhante, bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho bandhumatiṃ rājadhāniṃ anuppatto kheme migadāye viharati; so tumhākaṃ dassanakāmo’ti.
74比丘们,那时,刹帝利王子和帝思婆罗门王子备好了好几辆上好的车乘,登上一辆最好的车,坐着那辆最好的车从盘头摩帝王都出发,往安稳处的鹿野苑方向走去。车能走多远,他们就乘车走多远,到了地方,他们就下车,步行前往毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者那里。到了之后,他们向毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者顶礼,然后坐在一旁。
‘‘Atha kho, bhikkhave, khaṇḍo ca rājaputto tisso ca purohitaputto bhaddāni bhaddāni yānāni yojāpetvā bhaddaṃ bhaddaṃ yānaṃ abhiruhitvā bhaddehi bhaddehi yānehi bandhumatiyā rājadhāniyā niyyiṃsu. Yena khemo migadāyo tena pāyiṃsu. Yāvatikā yānassa bhūmi, yānena gantvā yānā paccorohitvā pattikāva yena vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho tenupasaṅkamiṃsu. Upasaṅkamitvā vipassiṃ bhagavantaṃ arahantaṃ sammāsambuddhaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdiṃsu.
75毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者就为他们按顺序开示讲说,也就是:他讲解了有关布施的法、有关持戒的法、有关生天的法;也讲明了感官欲望的过患、卑下与染污,以及出离的功德利益。当世尊知道他们心意变得柔软、调柔、没有障碍、充满喜悦、生起净信的时候,就开示了诸佛最殊胜的法教——苦、集、灭、道。就像一块干净、没有污点的布,刚好能完全吸收染料一样,刹帝利王子和帝思婆罗门王子就在他们坐着的地方,生起了那远离尘垢、没有瑕疵的法眼:'凡是具有生起本质的,这一切都具有灭去的本质。'
‘‘Tesaṃ vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho anupubbiṃ kathaṃ kathesi, seyyathidaṃ – dānakathaṃ sīlakathaṃ saggakathaṃ kāmānaṃ ādīnavaṃ okāraṃ saṃkilesaṃ nekkhamme ānisaṃsaṃ pakāsesi. Yadā te bhagavā aññāsi kallacitte muducitte vinīvaraṇacitte udaggacitte pasannacitte, atha yā buddhānaṃ sāmukkaṃsikā dhammadesanā, taṃ pakāsesi – dukkhaṃ samudayaṃ nirodhaṃ maggaṃ. 76他们已见了法、证了法、了知了法、洞彻了法,超越了疑惑,断除了种种猜测,得了无畏,于大师的教法中不再仰仗他人。他们对毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者这样说:'太殊胜了,尊者!太殊胜了,尊者!尊者,就像把翻倒的扶正,把隐藏的揭开,为迷路者指明道路,在黑暗中举起油灯,让有眼者得以看见种种色法。正是这样,世尊用种种方法阐明了法。尊者,我们现在就归依世尊你,也归依法和比丘僧。尊者,我们渴望能在世尊座下出家,受具足戒。'
‘‘Te diṭṭhadhammā pattadhammā viditadhammā pariyogāḷhadhammā tiṇṇavicikicchā vigatakathaṃkathā vesārajjappattā aparappaccayā satthusāsane vipassiṃ bhagavantaṃ arahantaṃ sammāsambuddhaṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘abhikkantaṃ, bhante, abhikkantaṃ, bhante. Seyyathāpi, bhante, nikkujjitaṃ vā ukkujjeyya, paṭicchannaṃ vā vivareyya, mūḷhassa vā maggaṃ ācikkheyya, andhakāre vā telapajjotaṃ dhāreyya ‘‘cakkhumanto rūpāni dakkhantī’’ti. Evamevaṃ bhagavatā anekapariyāyena dhammo pakāsito. Ete mayaṃ, bhante, bhagavantaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāma dhammañca. Labheyyāma mayaṃ, bhante, bhagavato santike pabbajjaṃ, labheyyāma upasampada’nti.
77“诸比丘,就这样,刹帝利子和大臣之子在毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者的座下,得到了出家,得到了具足戒。毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者便以法的开示教导他们、劝勉他们、激励他们、令他们欢喜;向他们宣说了诸行(有为法)的过患、卑劣、污染,以及涅槃的功德利益。当毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者以法的开示这样教导、劝勉、激励、令他们欢喜时,他们不久之后,心便不执取,从各种漏(烦恼)中解脱了出来。”
‘‘Alatthuṃ kho , bhikkhave, khaṇḍo ca rājaputto, tisso ca purohitaputto vipassissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa santike pabbajjaṃ alatthuṃ upasampadaṃ. 78「比丘们,槃度马蒂都城的八万四千众生听到这样的消息:『毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者已抵达槃度马蒂都城,住于堪马鹿野苑。堪达王子与提沙祭官子也已于毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者座前剃除须发、披上袈裟衣,离家出家过无家生活。』听到后,他们心中生起这样的想法:『这必定不是低劣的法与律,这必定不是低劣的出家,连堪达王子与提沙祭官子都已剃除须发、披上袈裟衣、离家出家过无家生活。他们尚且如此,何况我们!』于是,比丘们,那八万四千众生从槃度马蒂都城出发,前往堪马鹿野苑,来到毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者处。到已,向毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者敬礼后,坐于一面。」
‘‘Assosi kho, bhikkhave, bandhumatiyā rājadhāniyā mahājanakāyo caturāsītipāṇasahassāni – ‘vipassī kira bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho bandhumatiṃ rājadhāniṃ anuppatto kheme migadāye viharati. Khaṇḍo ca kira rājaputto tisso ca purohitaputto vipassissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa santike kesamassuṃ ohāretvā kāsāyāni vatthāni acchādetvā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajitā’ti. Sutvāna nesaṃ etadahosi – ‘na hi nūna so orako dhammavinayo, na sā orakā pabbajjā, yattha khaṇḍo ca rājaputto tisso ca purohitaputto kesamassuṃ ohāretvā kāsāyāni vatthāni acchādetvā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajitā. Khaṇḍo ca rājaputto tisso ca purohitaputto kesamassuṃ ohāretvā kāsāyāni vatthāni acchādetvā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajissanti, kimaṅgaṃ pana maya’nti. Atha kho so, bhikkhave, mahājanakāyo caturāsītipāṇasahassāni bandhumatiyā rājadhāniyā nikkhamitvā yena khemo migadāyo yena vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā vipassiṃ bhagavantaṃ arahantaṃ sammāsambuddhaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdiṃsu.
79「毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者为彼等作次第说法。即:布施论、戒论、生天论;开示诸欲的过患、堕落、染污,开示出离的利益。当世尊知彼等心已调柔、心已柔软、心已离盖、心已欢喜、心已清净时,开示诸佛所自悟的法要——苦、集、灭、道。犹如一块清净无黑垢的布正好可以染色;同样地,那八万四千人就于彼座上生起无尘、无垢的法眼——『凡是集法,一切都是灭法。』」

80「他们见法、得法、知法、入法、度疑、离惑、得自信、于导师教不他缘,对毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者如此说——『奇哉!尊者。奇哉!尊者。犹如使倒者扶正,或使覆者现开,或为迷途者指路,或于黑暗中持灯火——「具眼者将见诸色。」同样地,世尊以种种方便开示法。尊者,我们归依世尊、法及比丘僧团。尊者,愿我们得于世尊座前出家,得达上。』」

82那些时候,比丘们,那先前的八万四千位出家人听说:'听说毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者已经到达了般度马提王城,住在安稳的鹿野苑,并且正在说法。'于是,比丘们,那八万四千位出家人就前往般度马提王城、安稳的鹿野苑,去到毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者那里。到了之后,他们向毗婆尸世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者礼敬,然后坐在一边。

87「那时,比丘们,某大梵天以心知毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的心思,犹如有力之人屈伸臂,或伸屈臂。就这样于梵界隐没,出现于毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者之前。那时,比丘们,那大梵天偏袒上衣,向毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者合掌致敬,对毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者如此说——『就是这样,世尊;就是这样,善逝。尊者,如今有大比丘僧团住于槃度马蒂都城,有六百八十万比丘,尊者,愿世尊允许比丘们——「比丘们,为多人利益、为多人安乐、为悲悯世间、为人天的利益与安乐,你们去游行;莫二人同行一路;比丘们,开示初善、中善、后善、具义、具文、完全圆满、清净之梵行法。有少尘垢性的众生,因不闻法而衰败;将有法的了知者。」尊者,我们也将如此做,使比丘们每过六年便来到槃度马蒂都城诵巴蒂摩卡。』比丘们,那大梵天如此说。说此已,向毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者敬礼、右绕后,即于彼处隐没。」

Evameva brahmaloke antarahito vipassissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa purato pāturahosi. Atha kho so, bhikkhave, mahābrahmā ekaṃsaṃ uttarāsaṅgaṃ karitvā yena vipassī bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho tenañjaliṃ paṇāmetvā vipassiṃ bhagavantaṃ arahantaṃ sammāsambuddhaṃ etadavoca – ‘evametaṃ, bhagavā, evametaṃ, sugata. Mahā kho, bhante, etarahi bhikkhusaṅgho bandhumatiyā rājadhāniyā paṭivasati aṭṭhasaṭṭhibhikkhusatasahassaṃ, anujānātu, bhante, bhagavā bhikkhū – ‘‘caratha, bhikkhave, cārikaṃ bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ; mā ekena dve agamittha; desetha, bhikkhave, dhammaṃ ādikalyāṇaṃ majjhekalyāṇaṃ pariyosānakalyāṇaṃ sātthaṃ sabyañjanaṃ kevalaparipuṇṇaṃ parisuddhaṃ brahmacariyaṃ pakāsetha. Santi sattā apparajakkhajātikā, assavanatā dhammassa parihāyanti, bhavissanti dhammassa aññātāro’’ti . Api ca, bhante, mayaṃ tathā karissāma yathā bhikkhū channaṃ channaṃ vassānaṃ accayena bandhumatiṃ rājadhāniṃ upasaṅkamissanti pātimokkhuddesāyā’ti. Idamavoca, bhikkhave, so mahābrahmā, idaṃ vatvā vipassiṃ bhagavantaṃ arahantaṃ sammāsambuddhaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā tattheva antaradhāyi.
88「那时,比丘们,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者于傍晚时分从禅思而起,对比丘们说——『比丘们,我独处禅思时,生起如此心念——如今有大比丘僧团住于槃度马蒂都城,有六百八十万比丘。我何不允许比丘们——「比丘们,为多人利益、为多人安乐、为悲悯世间、为人天的利益与安乐,你们去游行;莫二人同行一路;比丘们,开示初善、中善、后善、具义、具文、完全圆满、清净之梵行法。有少尘垢性的众生,因不闻法而衰败;将有法的了知者。而且每过六年便应来到槃度马蒂都城诵巴蒂摩卡。」』

215那时,比丘们,有一位大梵天,以他的心知道了我的心念,就像一位大力士能伸直弯曲的手臂,或弯曲伸直的手臂那样快,瞬间从梵天界消失,出现在了我的面前。接着,比丘们,那位大梵天把上衣搭在一肩,向我合掌,对我说了这样的话:'正是如此,世尊!正是如此,善逝!大德,如今,在般度马提王城,有一大群比丘僧团,六十八万比丘住在那里。大德,请世尊允许比丘们,说:比丘们,去四处云游吧,为了许多人的利益,为了许多人的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了人天的福祉、利益和安乐。不要两个人走同一条路。比丘们,去教导法吧……有些众生只有少许尘垢,如果没听到法就会退失,他们将会领悟法。另外,大德,我们也会这样做:让比丘们每过六年,都回到般度马提王城来举行诵戒。'比丘们,那位大梵天说了这些话,对我说完后,向我礼敬,右绕之后,就在那里消失了。

Atha kho so, bhikkhave, mahābrahmā ekaṃsaṃ uttarāsaṅgaṃ karitvā yenāhaṃ tenañjaliṃ paṇāmetvā maṃ etadavoca – ‘‘evametaṃ, bhagavā, evametaṃ, sugata. Mahā kho, bhante, etarahi bhikkhusaṅgho bandhumatiyā rājadhāniyā paṭivasati aṭṭhasaṭṭhibhikkhusatasahassaṃ. Anujānātu, bhante, bhagavā bhikkhū – ‘caratha, bhikkhave, cārikaṃ bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ; mā ekena dve agamittha; desetha, bhikkhave, dhammaṃ…pe… santi sattā apparajakkhajātikā , assavanatā dhammassa parihāyanti, bhavissanti dhammassa aññātāro’ti. Api ca, bhante, mayaṃ tathā karissāma, yathā bhikkhū channaṃ channaṃ vassānaṃ accayena bandhumatiṃ rājadhāniṃ upasaṅkamissanti pātimokkhuddesāyā’’ti. Idamavoca, bhikkhave, so mahābrahmā, idaṃ vatvā maṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā tattheva antaradhāyi’.
216'比丘们,我允许你们去四处云游,为了许多人的利益,为了许多人的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了人天的福祉、利益和安乐。不要两个人走同一条路。比丘们,去教导法吧,这法在开头是善的,在中间是善的,在结尾是善的,有内容、有文句,去宣扬这完全圆满、清净的梵行吧。有些众生只有少许尘垢,如果没听到法就会退失,他们将会领悟法。另外,比丘们,每过六年,你们应当回到般度马提王城来,举行诵戒。'于是,比丘们,大部分比丘就在一天之内,出发到各地云游去了。
‘‘‘Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, caratha cārikaṃ bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ; mā ekena dve agamittha; desetha, bhikkhave, dhammaṃ ādikalyāṇaṃ majjhekalyāṇaṃ pariyosānakalyāṇaṃ sātthaṃ sabyañjanaṃ kevalaparipuṇṇaṃ parisuddhaṃ brahmacariyaṃ pakāsetha. Santi sattā apparajakkhajātikā, assavanatā dhammassa parihāyanti, bhavissanti dhammassa aññātāro. Api ca, bhikkhave, channaṃ channaṃ vassānaṃ accayena bandhumatī rājadhānī upasaṅkamitabbā pātimokkhuddesāyā’ti. Atha kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhū yebhuyyena ekāheneva janapadacārikaṃ pakkamiṃsu.
89那时,在阎浮提洲有八万四千处驻留地。当一年过去时,天神就传话给人们说:'朋友们,一年过去了,还剩五年。再过五年,应当回般度马提王城举行诵戒。'过了两年……过了三年……过了四年……过了五年,天神又传话给人们说:'朋友们,五年过去了,还剩一年。再过一年,应当回般度马提王城举行诵戒。'过了六年,天神又传话给人们说:'朋友们,六年过去了,现在是时候回般度马提王城举行诵戒了。'那时,比丘们,那些比丘,有的凭借自己的神通力,有的凭借天神的神通力,都在同一天内回到了般度马提王城,准备举行诵戒。
‘‘Tena kho pana samayena jambudīpe caturāsīti āvāsasahassāni honti. Ekamhi hi vasse nikkhante devatā saddamanussāvesuṃ – ‘nikkhantaṃ kho, mārisā, ekaṃ vassaṃ; pañca dāni vassāni sesāni ; pañcannaṃ vassānaṃ accayena bandhumatī rājadhānī upasaṅkamitabbā pātimokkhuddesāyā’ti. Dvīsu vassesu nikkhantesu… tīsu vassesu nikkhantesu… catūsu vassesu nikkhantesu… pañcasu vassesu nikkhantesu devatā saddamanussāvesuṃ – ‘nikkhantāni kho , mārisā, pañcavassāni; ekaṃ dāni vassaṃ sesaṃ; ekassa vassassa accayena bandhumatī rājadhānī upasaṅkamitabbā pātimokkhuddesāyā’ti. Chasu vassesu nikkhantesu devatā saddamanussāvesuṃ – ‘nikkhantāni kho, mārisā, chabbassāni, samayo dāni bandhumatiṃ rājadhāniṃ upasaṅkamituṃ pātimokkhuddesāyā’ti. 221伤害他者非出家者,
Na hi pabbajito parūpaghātī,

Na samaṇo hoti paraṃ viheṭhayanto.
223『一切恶莫作,众善应奉行,
‘Sabbapāpassa akaraṇaṃ, kusalassa upasampadā;
224净化自己心,此即诸佛教。
Sacittapariyodapanaṃ, etaṃ buddhānasāsanaṃ.
225『不毁谤、不伤害、于巴蒂摩卡守护,
‘Anūpavādo anūpaghāto , pātimokkhe ca saṃvaro;
226于食知量,独居远处卧坐,
Mattaññutā ca bhattasmiṃ, pantañca sayanāsanaṃ;
227勤修增上心,此即诸佛教。』」

91诸比丘,一时,我住在伍咖德哈的苏跋咖林沙喇王树下。诸比丘,当时我独自隐退禅修时,心中生起这样的寻思:『我在这漫长的时间里,除了净居天之外,还没有去过的众生居处并不容易找到。我何不前往净居天呢?』诸比丘,于是我犹如有力之人伸展屈曲的手臂,或屈曲伸展的手臂那样,从伍咖德哈的苏跋咖林沙喇王树下消失,出现在无烦天众中。诸比丘,在那天众中,数千天神、数十万天神来到我这里;来到后,向我礼敬,站在一旁。诸比丘,站在一旁的那些天神对我这样说:『尊者,从现在起九十一劫前,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者出现于世间。尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者生为刹帝利,出生于刹帝利家族。尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者姓衮丹雅。尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的寿量是八万岁。尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者在巴嗒厘树下证得正自觉。尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有一对名叫康德帝萨的弟子双贤,是最上的吉祥双贤。尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有三次弟子集会。一次弟子集会有六百八十万比丘。一次弟子集会有十万比丘。一次弟子集会有八万比丘。尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的这三次弟子集会,全部都是漏尽者。尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有一位名叫阿索咖的比丘作侍者,是最上的侍者。尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的父亲是名叫班度玛的国王。母亲是名叫班度玛帝的王后,是生母。班度玛王的王都是名叫班度玛帝的城市。尊者,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者如此出家、如此出离、如此精勤、如此证得正自觉、如此转法轮。尊者,我们在毗婆尸佛座下修习梵行,离欲于诸欲的欲欲后,投生于此。』……
‘‘Ekamidāhaṃ, bhikkhave, samayaṃ ukkaṭṭhāyaṃ viharāmi subhagavane sālarājamūle. Tassa mayhaṃ, bhikkhave, rahogatassa paṭisallīnassa evaṃ cetaso parivitakko udapādi – ‘na kho so sattāvāso sulabharūpo, yo mayā anāvutthapubbo iminā dīghena addhunā aññatra suddhāvāsehi devehi. Yaṃnūnāhaṃ yena suddhāvāsā devā tenupasaṅkameyya’nti. Atha khvāhaṃ, bhikkhave, seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya, pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya, evameva ukkaṭṭhāyaṃ subhagavane sālarājamūle antarahito avihesu devesu pāturahosiṃ . 231就在那个天界,诸比丘,有成千上万、数以十万计的天人来到我面前。他们走近后,向我行礼,然后站在一旁。诸比丘,那些天人站在一旁后,就这样对我说:‘朋友,就在这个贤劫,如今世间出现了一位世尊、阿拉汉、正自觉者。朋友,这位世尊出身于刹帝利种姓,生于刹帝利家族。朋友,这位世尊姓乔达摩。朋友,这位世尊的寿命很短、有限且轻微,活得久的,也就是一百岁上下,或者稍微多一点。朋友,这位世尊在毕钵罗树下圆证菩提。朋友,这位世尊身边有一对上首贤良弟子,名叫舍利弗和目犍连。朋友,这位世尊有一次弟子集会,共有一千二百五十位比丘。朋友,这位世尊的这次弟子集会,所有成员都是漏尽者。朋友,这位世尊的侍者比丘名叫阿难,是最上的侍者。朋友,这位世尊的父亲是净饭王。母亲是摩耶王后,是他的生母。都城是迦毗罗卫城。朋友,这位世尊就是这样出离的,就是这样出家的,就是这样精进的,就是这样成道的,就是这样转法轮的。朋友,我们就是在这位世尊的教法下修习梵行,脱离了对欲乐的贪欲后,投生到这里的。’

92接着,诸比丘,我与无烦天的天人一起,去往了无热天的天人那里……接着,诸比丘,我又与无烦天的天人和无热天的天人一起,去往了善现天的天人那里。接着,诸比丘,我又与无烦天的天人、无热天的天人和善现天的天人一起,去往了善见天的天人那里。接着,诸比丘,我又与无烦天的天人、无热天的天人、善现天的天人和善见天的天人一起,去往了色究竟天的天人那里。在那个天界,有成百上千、成千上万、数十万计的天人来到我面前,走近后,向我行礼,然后站在一旁。
‘‘Atha khvāhaṃ, bhikkhave, avihehi devehi saddhiṃ yena atappā devā tenupasaṅkamiṃ…pe… atha khvāhaṃ, bhikkhave, avihehi ca devehi atappehi ca devehi saddhiṃ yena sudassā devā tenupasaṅkamiṃ. Atha khvāhaṃ, bhikkhave, avihehi ca devehi atappehi ca devehi sudassehi ca devehi saddhiṃ yena sudassī devā tenupasaṅkamiṃ. Atha khvāhaṃ, bhikkhave, avihehi ca devehi atappehi ca devehi sudassehi ca devehi sudassīhi ca devehi saddhiṃ yena akaniṭṭhā devā tenupasaṅkamiṃ. 233「比丘们,那些站于一面的诸天对我如此说——『朋友,从今九十一劫之前,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者出现于世。朋友,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者生于刹帝利种姓,出生于刹帝利家族。朋友,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者,族姓是衮丹雅。朋友,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的寿量为八万岁。朋友,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者于巴嗒离树下证悟。朋友,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有名为堪达、提沙的上首双贤弟子。朋友,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有三次弟子集会。一次弟子集会有六百八十万比丘。一次弟子集会有十万比丘。一次弟子集会有八万比丘。朋友,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有此三次弟子集会,全都是诸漏尽者。朋友,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者有名为阿索咖的比丘为侍者,为上首侍者。朋友,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者的父亲是名为槃度马的国王,生母是名为槃度马蒂的王后。槃度马王的都城名为槃度马蒂城。朋友,毗婆尸佛、阿拉汉、正自觉者如此出家、如此出家、如此精勤、如此正觉、如此转法轮。朋友,我们于毗婆尸佛处行梵行,从诸欲的欲欲离欲,生于此处。』比丘们,就在那天众中,无数千、无数十万的天人前来我处。到已,向我敬礼后站于一面。比丘们,那些站于一面的诸天对我如此说——『朋友,从今三十一劫之前,尸弃佛……乃至……朋友,我们于尸弃佛处……就在那三十一劫中,毗舍婆佛……乃至……朋友,我们于毗舍婆佛处……乃至……就在此贤劫中,拘留孙、拘那含、迦叶佛……乃至……朋友,我们于拘留孙、拘那含、迦叶佛处行梵行,从诸欲的欲欲离欲,生于此处。』」

Bhagavato, mārisā, ānando nāma bhikkhu upaṭṭhāko aggupaṭṭhāko ahosi. Bhagavato, mārisā, suddhodano nāma rājā pitā ahosi. Māyā nāma devī mātā ahosi janetti. Kapilavatthu nāma nagaraṃ rājadhānī ahosi. Bhagavato, mārisā, evaṃ abhinikkhamanaṃ ahosi, evaṃ pabbajjā, evaṃ padhānaṃ, evaṃ abhisambodhi, evaṃ dhammacakkappavattanaṃ. Te mayaṃ, mārisā, bhagavati brahmacariyaṃ caritvā kāmesu kāmacchandaṃ virājetvā idhūpapannā’ti.
94诸比丘,正是这样,这是如来自己善巧通达的法界。因为善巧通达了这个法界,如来对于过去世那些已般涅槃、断除戏论、断尽古道、竭尽轮回、超越一切苦的佛陀,既能忆念他们的种姓,也能忆念他们的名字,也能忆念他们的族姓,也能忆念他们的寿命量,也能忆念他们的双贤弟子,也能忆念他们的弟子集会:‘那些世尊是如此的种姓。’也能忆念:‘那些世尊是如此的名字、如此的族姓、如此的戒行、如此的教法、如此的智慧、如此的住法、如此的解脱。’
‘‘Iti kho, bhikkhave, tathāgatassevesā dhammadhātu suppaṭividdhā, yassā dhammadhātuyā suppaṭividdhattā tathāgato atīte buddhe parinibbute chinnapapañce chinnavaṭume pariyādinnavaṭṭe sabbadukkhavītivatte jātitopi anussarati, nāmatopi anussarati, gottatopi anussarati, āyuppamāṇatopi anussarati, sāvakayugatopi anussarati, sāvakasannipātatopi anussarati ‘evaṃjaccā te bhagavanto ahesuṃ’ itipi. ‘Evaṃnāmā evaṃgottā evaṃsīlā evaṃdhammā evaṃpaññā evaṃvihārī evaṃvimuttā te bhagavanto ahesuṃ’ itipīti.
