107. Vassūpanāyikānujānanā
184那时,佛陀世尊住在王舍城的竹林,就是喂松鼠的地方。那个时候,世尊还没有为比丘们制定雨安居的规定。那些比丘就在冬季、夏季和雨季四处游方。人们开始不满、指责、批评说:“这些释迦族的沙门,怎么能在冬季、夏季和雨季都到处走呢?他们践踏青草,伤害有单一感官的生命,还令许多微小的生物遭到灭亡。你看那些其他外道,即使教法不堪,到了雨季也知道安住下来,停歇不动。你看那些鸟,也会在树梢上筑巢,安住下来度过雨季。偏偏这些释迦族的沙门,冬季、夏季和雨季都在到处走,践踏青草,伤害有单一感官的生命,令许多微小的生物遭到灭亡。”比丘们听到了人们这些不满、指责和批评。于是,这几位比丘就把这件事禀告了世尊。于是,世尊以这件事为因缘、为题目,宣说了法义,然后对比丘们说:“诸比丘,我允许入雨安居。”这时,比丘们心里想:“应该什么时候入雨安居呢?”他们又把这件事禀告了世尊。世尊说:“诸比丘,我允许在雨季入雨安居。”
Tena samayena buddho bhagavā rājagahe viharati veḷuvane kalandakanivāpe. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavatā bhikkhūnaṃ vassāvāso apaññatto hoti. Teidha bhikkhū hemantampi gimhampi vassampi cārikaṃ caranti. Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma samaṇā sakyaputtiyā hemantampi gimhampi vassampi cārikaṃ carissanti, haritāni tiṇāni sammaddantā, ekindriyaṃ jīvaṃ viheṭhentā, bahū khuddake pāṇe saṅghātaṃ āpādentā. Ime hi nāma aññatitthiyā durakkhātadhammā vassāvāsaṃ allīyissanti saṅkasāyissanti. Ime hi nāma sakuntakā rukkhaggesu kulāvakāni karitvā vassāvāsaṃ allīyissanti saṅkasāyissanti . Ime pana samaṇā sakyaputtiyā hemantampi gimhampi vassampi cārikaṃ caranti, haritāni tiṇāni sammaddantā, ekindriyaṃ jīvaṃ viheṭhentā, bahū khuddake pāṇe saṅghātaṃ āpādentā’’ti. Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū tesaṃ manussānaṃ ujjhāyantānaṃ khiyyantānaṃ vipācentānaṃ. Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, vassaṃ upagantu’’nti. Atha kho bhikkhūnaṃ etadahosi – ‘‘kadā nu kho vassaṃ upagantabba’’nti? Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, vassāne vassaṃ upagantunti.
3尔时,诸比丘生起此念:『有几种瓦萨入住?』将此义白世尊
Atha kho bhikkhūnaṃ etadahosi – ‘‘kati nu kho vassūpanāyikā’’ti? Bhagavato etamatthaṃ
2他们报告说。世尊说:“诸比丘,有两种入雨安居的时间:前安居和后安居。在阿萨拉星还没有过去的月分里,入前安居;在阿萨拉星过去后的月分,入后安居。诸比丘,这就是两种入雨安居的时间。”
Ārocesuṃ. Dvemā, bhikkhave, vassūpanāyikā – purimikā, pacchimikā. Aparajjugatāya āsāḷhiyā purimikā upagantabbā, māsagatāya āsāḷhiyā pacchimikā upagantabbā – imā kho, bhikkhave, dve vassūpanāyikāti.

185那个时候,六群比丘入了雨安居,却在安居期间外出游方。人们同样又开始不满、指责、批评说:“这些释迦族的沙门,怎么能在冬季、夏季和雨季都到处走呢?他们践踏青草,伤害有单一感官的生命,还令许多微小的生物遭到灭亡。你看那些其他外道,即使教法不堪,到了雨季也知道安住下来,停歇不动。你看那些鸟,也会在树梢上筑巢,安住下来度过雨季。偏偏这些释迦族的沙门,冬季、夏季和雨季都在到处走,践踏青草,伤害有单一感官的生命,令许多微小的生物遭到灭亡。”比丘们听到了人们这些不满、指责和批评。那些少欲的比丘们……他们不满、指责、批评说:“六群比丘怎么可以在入了雨安居后,还在安居期间外出游方呢?”于是,这几位比丘就把这件事禀告了世尊。于是,世尊以这件事为因缘、为题目,宣说了法义,然后对比丘们说:“诸比丘,入雨安居之后,在未住满前三个月或后三个月的情况下,不可以外出游方。如果有谁外出,那就犯了恶作。”
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū vassaṃ upagantvā antarāvassaṃ cārikaṃ caranti. Ime hi nāma aññatitthiyā durakkhātadhammā vassāvāsaṃ allīyissanti saṅkasāyissanti. Ime hi nāma sakuntakā rukkhaggesu kulāvakāni karitvā vassāvāsaṃ allīyissanti saṅkasāyissanti. Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘na, bhikkhave, vassaṃ upagantvā purimaṃ vā temāsaṃ pacchimaṃ vā temāsaṃ avasitvā cārikā pakkamitabbā. Yo pakkameyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā’’ti.
186那个时候,六群比丘不愿意入雨安居。他们禀告了世尊这件事。世尊说:“诸比丘,不可以不入雨安居。如果有谁不入,那就犯了恶作。”
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū na icchanti vassaṃ upagantuṃ. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. Na, bhikkhave, vassaṃ na upagantabbaṃ. Yo na upagaccheyya, āpatti dukkaṭassāti.
5那个时候,六群比丘在入安居日那天,不想入雨安居,就故意越过住处避开了。他们禀告了世尊这件事。世尊说:“诸比丘,在入安居日那天,不想入雨安居的人,不可以故意越过住处。如果有谁越过了,那就犯了恶作。”
Tena kho pana samayena chabbaggiyā bhikkhū tadahu vassūpanāyikāya vassaṃ anupagantukāmā sañcicca āvāsaṃ atikkamanti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. Na, bhikkhave, tadahu vassūpanāyikāya vassaṃ anupagantukāmena sañcicca āvāso atikkamitabbo. Yo atikkameyya, āpatti dukkaṭassāti.
10尔时,摩揭陀国王谢尼耶宾比萨拉欲度瓦萨
Tena kho pana samayena rājā māgadho seniyo bimbisāro vassaṃ ukkaḍḍhitukāmo
6有人派遣使者到比丘们那里说:“要是圣者们等到月圆明亮的时候再入雨安居呢?”比丘们禀告了世尊这件事。世尊说:“诸比丘,我允许随顺国王们的意愿。”
Bhikkhūnaṃ santike dūtaṃ pāhesi – yadi panāyyā āgame juṇhe vassaṃ upagaccheyyunti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, rājūnaṃ anuvattitunti.

109. Sattāhakaraṇīyānujānanā
187那时,世尊在王舍城随意住了一段时间后,就往舍卫城方向游方去了。他一路次第游方,来到了舍卫城。在那里,世尊就住在舍卫城的祇树给孤独园。就在那个时候,在拘萨罗国的地方,有一位名叫伍德那的近事男,他为僧团建造了一座精舍。他派遣使者到比丘们那里说:“大德们,请来吧!我想做布施,想听法,也想见见比丘们。”比丘们这样回答他:“贤友,世尊已经制定了:‘入雨安居之后,在未住满前三个月或后三个月的情况下,不可以外出游方。’请伍德那近事男稍等,等比丘们住完雨安居。雨安居结束后,他们就会来。如果他有非常紧急的事情,那就请他在那里,对着常住比丘们,把这精舍安置好吧。”伍德那近事男听了,感到不满,指责、批评说:“诸位大德为什么在我派人去请之后,还不来呢?我可是施主,是建造者,是僧团的护持者啊!”比丘们听到了伍德那近事男这些不满、指责和批评。于是,这几位比丘就把这件事禀告了世尊。于是,世尊以这件事为因缘、为题目,宣说了法义,然后对比丘们说:“诸比丘,我允许在以下七种人派人来请的时候,以七日事为由动身前往,但决不允许他们没派人来请就去。这七种人是:比丘、比丘尼、在学尼、沙马内拉、沙马内莉、近事男、近事女。诸比丘,我允许因为这七种人派人来请,以七日事为由前往,但决不允许没派人来请就去。并且,必须在七天之内返回。”
Atha kho bhagavā rājagahe yathābhirantaṃ viharitvā yena sāvatthi tena cārikaṃ pakkāmi. Anupubbena cārikaṃ caramāno yena sāvatthi tadavasari. Tatra sudaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Tena kho pana samayena kosalesu janapade udenena upāsakena saṅghaṃ uddissa vihāro kārāpito hoti. So bhikkhūnaṃ santike dūtaṃ pāhesi – ‘‘āgacchantu bhadantā, icchāmi dānañca dātuṃ, dhammañca sotuṃ, bhikkhū ca passitu’’nti. Bhikkhū evamāhaṃsu – ‘‘bhagavatā, āvuso, paññattaṃ ‘na vassaṃ upagantvā purimaṃ vā temāsaṃ pacchimaṃ vā temāsaṃ avasitvā cārikā pakkamitabbā’ti. Āgametu udeno upāsako, yāva bhikkhū vassaṃ vasanti. Vassaṃvuṭṭhā āgamissanti. Sace panassa accāyikaṃ karaṇīyaṃ, tattheva āvāsikānaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ santike vihāraṃ patiṭṭhāpetū’’ti. Udeno upāsako ujjhāyati khiyyati vipāceti – ‘‘kathañhi nāma bhadantā mayā pahite na āgacchissanti. Ahañhi dāyako kārako saṅghupaṭṭhāko’’ti. Assosuṃ kho bhikkhū udenassa upāsakassa ujjhāyantassa khiyyantassa vipācentassa. Atha kho te bhikkhū bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. Atha kho bhagavā etasmiṃ nidāne etasmiṃ pakaraṇe dhammiṃ kathaṃ katvā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘anujānāmi, bhikkhave, sattannaṃ sattāhakaraṇīyena pahite gantuṃ, na tveva appahite. Bhikkhussa, bhikkhuniyā, sikkhamānāya, sāmaṇerassa, sāmaṇeriyā, upāsakassa, upāsikāya – anujānāmi, bhikkhave, imesaṃ sattannaṃ sattāhakaraṇīyena pahite gantuṃ, na tveva appahite. Sattāhaṃ sannivatto kātabbo’’.
188诸比丘,在这里,如果有近事男为僧团建造了精舍。如果他派遣使者到比丘们那里说:‘大德们,请来吧!我想做布施,想听法,也想见见比丘们。’那么,诸比丘,如果是被派人来请了,可以以七日事为由动身前往;如果没有派人来请,则决不允许去。而且必须在七天之内返回。

9再者,诸比丘,这里有一位近事男,他为僧团建造了一座半屋……乃至……建造了一座重阁……建造了高楼……建造了洞窟……建造了内院……建造了门楼……建造了集会堂……建造了火房……建造了净物库……建造了厕所……建造了经行道……建造了经行道堂……建造了井……建造了井堂……建造了浴室……建造了浴室堂……建造了池塘……建造了凉亭……建造了乐园……建造了乐园地。如果他派遣使者到诸比丘那里,说:‘尊者们,请来吧,我想供养布施,想听闻佛法,也想见见比丘们。’诸比丘,如果已经被派遣,应当以七日事前往,若未被派遣则不应前往。应将自己在七日之内返回的承诺做好。

189再者,诸比丘,这里有一位近事男,他为自己的用途建造了住宅……乃至……建造了卧室……建造了仓库……建造了瞭望台……建造了厅堂……建造了店铺……建造了店铺堂……建造了重阁……建造了高楼……建造了洞窟……建造了内院……建造了门楼……建造了集会堂……建造了火房……建造了厨房……建造了经行道……建造了经行道堂……建造了井……建造了井堂……建造了池塘……建造了凉亭……建造了乐园……建造了乐园地……或者是儿子的婚事……或者是女儿的婚事……或者生病了……或者诵持一部著名的经典。如果他派遣使者到诸比丘那里,说:‘尊者们,请来吧,他们将学习这部经典,趁这部经典还没有失传。’又或者他有别的事务,或有什么事要办,如果他派遣使者到诸比丘那里,说:‘尊者们,请来吧,我想供养布施,想听闻佛法,也想见见比丘们。’诸比丘,如果已经被派遣,应当以七日事前往,若未被派遣则不应前往。应将自己在七日之内返回的承诺做好。

Aññataraṃ vā panassa kiccaṃ hoti – karaṇīyaṃ vā, so ce bhikkhūnaṃ santike dūtaṃ pahiṇeyya – ‘‘āgacchantu bhadantā, icchāmi dānañca dātuṃ, dhammañca sotuṃ, bhikkhū ca passitu’’nti, gantabbaṃ, bhikkhave, sattāhakaraṇīyena, pahite, na tveva appahite. Sattāhaṃ sannivatto kātabbo.
190再者,诸比丘,这里有一位近事女,她为僧团建造了精舍。如果她派遣使者到诸比丘那里,说:‘圣者们,请来吧,我想供养布施,想听闻佛法,也想见见比丘们。’诸比丘,如果已经被派遣,应当以七日事前往,若未被派遣则不应前往。应将自己在七日之内返回的承诺做好。

89那时,比丘们在树洞里入雨安居。人们不满、批评、非议说:“就跟那些捕鹿的猎户一样。”比丘们把这事报告了世尊。世尊说:“诸比丘,不得在树洞里入雨安居。如果谁这么做,犯恶作。”

205那时,在舍卫城,僧团立了这样一个公约:“不得在雨安居期间让人出家。”鹿母维沙卡的孙子去拜访比丘们,请求出家。比丘们这样告诉他:“朋友,僧团已经立了这样的公约:‘不得在雨安居期间让人出家。’朋友,你就等到比丘们住完雨安居吧。他们结束了雨安居,就会让你出家的。”等那些比丘结束了雨安居,他们对鹿母维沙卡的孙子说:“来吧,朋友,现在来出家吧。”他却这样说:“尊者,如果我能出家的话,我当时是很欢喜的。但现在,尊者,我不想出家了。”鹿母维沙卡不满、批评、非议说:“这些圣尊们怎么能立这样的公约,说‘不得在雨安居期间让人出家’呢?在什么时候,法就不该被践行了呢?”比丘们听到了鹿母维沙卡的不满、批评和非议。于是,比丘们把这事报告了世尊。世尊说:“诸比丘,不得立这样的公约:‘不得在雨安居期间让人出家。’如果谁立了,犯恶作。”

Atha kho te bhikkhū vassaṃvuṭṭhā visākhāya migāramātuyā nattāraṃ etadavocuṃ – ‘‘ehi, dāni, āvuso, pabbajāhī’’ti. So evamāha – ‘‘sacāhaṃ, bhante, pabbajito assaṃ, abhirameyyāmahaṃ . 206那时,释迦族出身的伍巴难达尊者,已经答应了高沙喇国的巴谢那地王,要在前安居期间去他的住处过雨安居。他在去那个住处的途中,看到半路上有两个精舍,那里能得到很多袈裟。他就想:“我何不就住在这两个精舍里过雨安居呢?这样,我就能得到很多袈裟了。”于是,他就在那两个精舍里住了雨安居。高沙喇国的巴谢那地王不满、批评、非议说:“这位释迦族出身的伍巴难达尊者,怎么答应了我们的雨安居住处,却又失信反悔呢?世尊不是用种种方式呵责妄语,赞叹离间妄语的么?”比丘们听到了高沙喇国巴谢那地王的不满、批评和非议。那些少欲知足的比丘们也……不满、批评、非议说:“这位释迦族出身的伍巴难达尊者,怎么答应了高沙喇国巴谢那地王的雨安居住处,却又失信反悔呢?世尊不是用种种方式呵责妄语,赞叹离间妄语的么?”于是,这些比丘把这事报告了世尊……于是,世尊因为这个因缘、这件事情,召集了比丘僧团,问释迦族出身的伍巴难达尊者:“伍巴难达,听说你真的答应了高沙喇国巴谢那地王的雨安居住处之后,又失信反悔了吗?”“是真的,世尊。”佛陀世尊呵责他……“你这愚痴的人,怎么能答应了高沙喇国巴谢那地王的雨安居住处,又失信反悔呢?你这愚痴的人,我不是用种种方式呵责妄语,赞叹离间妄语的么?愚痴的人,这样做,既不能让没有信心的人产生信心……”在对伍巴难达尊者呵责之后……世尊开示了与法相应的开示,然后对比丘们说:

150因贼与魑魅,复因火此二;
