160如是我闻:有一回,世尊住在舍卫城的祇树给孤独园。那时,世尊召唤比丘们:“诸比丘。”那些比丘回应世尊:“尊师。”世尊这样说道:“诸比丘,我将为你们开示‘行的投生’。你们要仔细听,好好用心思惟,我就要说了。”那些比丘回答世尊:“是的,尊师。”世尊便这样开示:
Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – ‘‘bhikkhavo’’ti. ‘‘Bhadante’’ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca – ‘‘saṅkhārupapattiṃ vo, bhikkhave, desessāmi, taṃ suṇātha, sādhukaṃ manasi karotha; bhāsissāmī’’ti. ‘‘Evaṃ, bhante’’ti kho te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca –
161“诸比丘,在此,有比丘具备信,具备戒,具备闻,具备施,具备慧。他心里这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身体破裂、死亡之后,能投生到大富大贵的刹帝利家族中!’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,由于这样修习、这样多做,便导向投生到那里。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,能导向投生到那里。
‘‘Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saddhāya samannāgato hoti, sīlena samannāgato hoti, sutena samannāgato hoti, cāgena samannāgato hoti, paññāya samannāgato hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā khattiyamahāsālānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti . Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
162“再者,诸比丘,有比丘具备信,具备戒,具备闻,具备施,具备慧。他心里这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身体破裂、死亡之后,能投生到大富大贵的婆罗门家族中……投生到大富大贵的居士家族中!’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,由于这样修习、这样多做,便导向投生到那里。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,能导向投生到那里。
‘‘Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saddhāya samannāgato hoti, sīlena samannāgato hoti, sutena samannāgato hoti, cāgena samannāgato hoti, paññāya samannāgato hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā brāhmaṇamahāsālānaṃ…pe… gahapatimahāsālānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
163“再者,诸比丘,有比丘具备信,具备戒,具备闻,具备施,具备慧。他听闻到:‘四大王天的天众,寿命极长,相貌庄严,快乐很多。’他心里这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身体破裂、死亡之后,能投生到四大王天的天众当中!’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,由于这样修习、这样多做,便导向投生到那里。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,能导向投生到那里。

So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
164“再者,诸比丘,有比丘具备信,具备戒,具备闻,具备施,具备慧。他听闻到:‘三十三天的天众……夜摩天的天众……兜率天的天众……化乐天的天众……他化自在天的天众,寿命极长,相貌庄严,快乐很多。’他心里这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身体破裂、死亡之后,能投生到他化自在天的天众当中!’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,由于这样修习、这样多做,便导向投生到那里。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,能导向投生到那里。
‘‘Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saddhāya samannāgato hoti, sīlena samannāgato hoti, sutena samannāgato hoti, cāgena samannāgato hoti, paññāya samannāgato hoti. Tassa sutaṃ hoti – tāvatiṃsā devā…pe… yāmā devā… tusitā devā… nimmānaratī devā… paranimmitavasavattī devā dīghāyukā vaṇṇavanto sukhabahulāti. Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā paranimmitavasavattīnaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti . So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
165“再者,诸比丘,有比丘具备信,具备戒,具备闻,具备施,具备慧。他听闻到:‘千梵天寿命极长,相貌庄严,快乐很多。’诸比丘,那千梵天,他的心遍满、融摄一千个世界而安住。那些投生到那里的有情,他们的心也同样遍满、融摄而安住。诸比丘,这就像一个有眼力的人,把一颗庵摩罗果放在手里细细观察一样;正是如此,诸比丘,那千梵天的心遍满、融摄一千个世界而安住。那些投生到那里的有情,他们的心也同样遍满、融摄而安住。他心里这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身体破裂、死亡之后,能投生到千梵天那里!’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,由于这样修习、这样多做,便导向投生到那里。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,能导向投生到那里。”
‘‘Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saddhāya samannāgato hoti, sīlena samannāgato hoti, sutena samannāgato hoti, cāgena samannāgato hoti, paññāya samannāgato hoti. Tassa sutaṃ hoti – ‘sahasso brahmā dīghāyuko vaṇṇavā sukhabahulo’ti. Sahasso, bhikkhave, brahmā sahassilokadhātuṃ pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Yepi tattha sattā upapannā tepi pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, cakkhumā puriso ekaṃ āmaṇḍaṃ hatthe karitvā paccavekkheyya; evameva kho, bhikkhave, sahasso brahmā sahassilokadhātuṃ pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Yepi tattha sattā upapannā tepi pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā sahassassa brahmuno sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
166再者,诸比丘,有比丘具备信,具备戒……具备闻……具备施……具备慧。他听闻到:‘投生到空无边处天的诸天寿命极长、久住世间、安乐充满。’他便这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身坏命终之后,能投生到空无边处天诸天的同伴中。’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,经过这样修习、这样反复修习,就导向了那里的投生。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,导向那里的投生。
‘‘Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saddhāya samannāgato hoti, sīlena… sutena… cāgena… paññāya samannāgato hoti. Tassa sutaṃ hoti – ‘ākāsānañcāyatanūpagā devā dīghāyukā ciraṭṭhitikā sukhabahulā’ti . Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā ākāsānañcāyatanūpagānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
167再者,诸比丘,有比丘具备信,具备戒……具备闻……具备施……具备慧。他听闻到:‘投生到识无边处天的诸天寿命极长、久住世间、安乐充满。’他便这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身坏命终之后,能投生到识无边处天诸天的同伴中。’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,经过这样修习、这样反复修习,就导向了那里的投生。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,导向那里的投生。

Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā viññāṇañcāyatanūpagānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
168再者,诸比丘,有比丘具备信,具备戒……具备闻……具备施……具备慧。他听闻到:投生到无所有处天的诸天……乃至……投生到非想非非想处天的诸天寿命极长、久住世间、安乐充满。他便这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身坏命终之后,能投生到非想非非想处天诸天的同伴中。’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,经过这样修习、这样反复修习,就导向了那里的投生。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,导向那里的投生。
‘‘Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saddhāya samannāgato hoti, sīlena… sutena… cāgena… paññāya samannāgato hoti. Tassa sutaṃ hoti – ākiñcaññāyatanūpagā devā…pe… nevasaññānāsaññāyatanūpagā devā dīghāyukā ciraṭṭhitikā sukhabahulāti. Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā nevasaññānāsaññāyatanūpagānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
169再者,诸比丘,有比丘具备信,具备戒……具备闻……具备施……具备慧。他这样想:‘啊,但愿我能灭尽诸漏,在现法中以自己的证智,亲自证得、成就无漏的心解脱与慧解脱而住。’他正是灭尽了诸漏,在现法中以自己的证智,亲自证得、成就了无漏的心解脱与慧解脱而住。诸比丘,这位比丘不在任何地方投生。”
‘‘Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saddhāya samannāgato hoti, sīlena… sutena… cāgena… paññāya samannāgato hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ cetovimuttiṃ paññāvimuttiṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja vihareyya’nti. So āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ cetovimuttiṃ paññāvimuttiṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharati. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na katthaci upapajjatī’’ti .
170再者,诸比丘,一位比丘拥有信,拥有戒,拥有闻,拥有施,拥有慧。他听闻到:‘那五千梵天寿命极长、容貌殊胜、快乐众多。’诸比丘,那位五千梵天是遍满、深入、安住于五千世界而住的。那些投生到那里的众生,也是遍满、深入、安住而住的。诸比丘,就像一个有眼力的人,把五个手镯拿在手里仔细端详;正是如此,诸比丘,那位五千梵天是遍满、深入、安住于五千世界而住的。那些投生到那里的众生,也是遍满、深入、安住而住的。他这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身体坏灭、死后,能投生到五千梵天的同伴中去!’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,如此修习、如此多作,就导向投生到那里。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,导向投生到那里。

Pañcasahasso, bhikkhave, brahmā pañcasahassilokadhātuṃ pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Yepi tattha sattā upapannā tepi pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, cakkhumā puriso pañca āmaṇḍāni hatthe karitvā paccavekkheyya; evameva kho, bhikkhave, pañcasahasso brahmā pañcasahassilokadhātuṃ pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
171再者,诸比丘,一位比丘拥有信,拥有戒,拥有闻,拥有施,拥有慧。他听闻到:‘那一万梵天寿命极长、容貌殊胜、快乐众多。’诸比丘,那位一万梵天是遍满、深入、安住于一万世界而住的。那些投生到那里的众生,也是遍满、深入、安住而住的。诸比丘,就像一颗美丽、纯净、八面、精心打磨的琉璃宝珠,放在金色的布上,闪耀、发亮、光辉灿烂;正是如此,诸比丘,那位一万梵天是遍满、深入、安住于一万世界而住的。那些投生到那里的众生,也是遍满、深入、安住而住的。他这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身体坏灭、死后,能投生到一万梵天的同伴中去!’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,如此修习、如此多作,就导向投生到那里。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,导向投生到那里。

Yepi tattha sattā upapannā tepi pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, maṇi veḷuriyo subho jātimā aṭṭhaṃso suparikammakato paṇḍukambale nikkhitto bhāsate ca tapate ca virocati ca; evameva kho, bhikkhave, dasasahasso brahmā dasasahassilokadhātuṃ pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Yepi tattha sattā upapannā tepi pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā dasasahassassa brahmuno sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
172再者,诸比丘,一位比丘拥有信,拥有戒,拥有闻,拥有施,拥有慧。他听闻到:‘那十万梵天寿命极长、容貌殊胜、快乐众多。’诸比丘,那位十万梵天是遍满、深入、安住于十万世界而住的。那些投生到那里的众生,也是遍满、深入、安住而住的。诸比丘,就像一块由熟练金匠之子在熔炉出口处精工锻打的纯金金块,放在金色的布上,闪耀、发亮、光辉灿烂;正是如此,诸比丘,那位十万梵天是遍满、深入、安住于十万世界而住的。那些投生到那里的众生,也是遍满、深入、安住而住的。他这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身体坏灭、死后,能投生到十万梵天的同伴中去!’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,如此修习、如此多作,就导向投生到那里。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,导向投生到那里。

Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, nikkhaṃ jambonadaṃ dakkhakammāraputtaukkāmukhasukusalasampahaṭṭhaṃ paṇḍukambale nikkhittaṃ bhāsate ca tapate ca virocati ca; evameva kho, bhikkhave, satasahasso brahmā satasahassilokadhātuṃ pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Yepi tattha sattā upapannā tepi pharitvā adhimuccitvā viharati. Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā satasahassassa brahmuno sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti . So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
173再者,诸比丘,一位比丘拥有信,拥有戒,拥有闻,拥有施,拥有慧。他听闻到:‘光天…少光天…无量光天…光音天,这些天神寿命极长、容貌殊胜、快乐众多。’他这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身体坏灭、死后,能投生到光音天神的同伴中去!’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,如此修习、如此多作,就导向投生到那里。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,导向投生到那里。
‘‘Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saddhāya samannāgato hoti, sīlena… sutena… cāgena… paññāya samannāgato hoti. Tassa sutaṃ hoti – ābhā devā…pe… parittābhā devā… appamāṇābhā devā… ābhassarā devā dīghāyukā vaṇṇavanto sukhabahulāti. Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā ābhassarānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
174再者,诸比丘,一位比丘拥有信,拥有戒,拥有闻,拥有施,拥有慧。他听闻到:‘少净天…无量净天…遍净天,这些天神寿命极长、容貌殊胜、快乐众多。’他这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身体坏灭、死后,能投生到遍净天神的同伴中去!’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,如此修习、如此多作,就导向投生到那里。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,导向投生到那里。

Tassa sutaṃ hoti – parittasubhā devā…pe… appamāṇasubhā devā… subhakiṇhā devā dīghāyukā vaṇṇavanto sukhabahulāti. Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā subhakiṇhānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
175再者,诸比丘,一位比丘拥有信,拥有戒,拥有闻,拥有施,拥有慧。他听闻到:‘广果天…无烦天…无热天…善现天…善见天…色究竟天,这些天神寿命极长、容貌殊胜、快乐众多。’他这样想:‘啊,但愿我在身体坏灭、死后,能投生到色究竟天神的同伴中去!’他安置那个心,确立那个心,修习那个心。他的那些行与住,如此修习、如此多作,就导向投生到那里。诸比丘,这是道,这是道迹,导向投生到那里。
‘‘Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saddhāya samannāgato hoti, sīlena… sutena… cāgena… paññāya samannāgato hoti. Tassa sutaṃ hoti – vehapphalā devā…pe… avihā devā… atappā devā… sudassā devā… sudassī devā… akaniṭṭhā devā dīghāyukā vaṇṇavanto sukhabahulāti. Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā akaniṭṭhānaṃ devānaṃ sahabyataṃ upapajjeyya’nti. So taṃ cittaṃ dahati, taṃ cittaṃ adhiṭṭhāti, taṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
17世尊说了这些。那些比丘心满意足,对世尊的教导欢喜赞叹。
